PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BEGINNING!
AN: This won't be a long update, although it's based off of a real episode, it's more of a filler for me for the time being. And please don't mind if it sounds a bit choppy, I'm having a minor case of Writer's Block at the moment, trying to figure out how to arrange the chapters from here on out.
Review, but if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!
-The Ninth Child-
xX-The Final DigiDestined-Xx
-Hamasaki Academy-
'It's been a little over a week since Ken returned home,' Kagome thought as she diligently took notes on what her teacher spoke of, 'And there's still been no word from him…'
School had started up again the day before and the DigiDestined, both old and new, had been going to the Digital World every day and second they could spare to help rebuild everything that had been damaged during their fights with the Digimon Emperor, at least back when Ken had been the Digimon Emperor.
Suddenly, Kagome tensed, she bit her tongue to stifle her gasp as images flew through her mind.
The first was of Ken waking up in his home with a calendar superimposed under him, the second was of the navy-haired boy in the Primary Village, and the final image was of the tiny baby Digimon berating the preteen and throwing things at him.
'Okay, so maybe not everything's all right,' Kagome thought, 'But at least he's awake, or will be waking in any case…'

As soon as the bell went off, signaling the end of the school day, Kagome stood and quickly began to pack her things into her bag.
"Whoa, why the rush?" Matt asked, blinking as the girl did her best to pack away her things into the correct place.
"I need to head over to the Digital World for a bit," Kagome answered, her eyes averted from the blonde's form. It seemed that ever since Kagome had realized that she was in love with Matt, she just couldn't seem to look him in the eye anymore, though she was careful to hide her blushing when she was with him.
'And it doesn't help that he sits right next to me here!' the raven-haired teen mentally groaned. After packing away her last notebook, Kagome rushed out of the classroom with a quick 'goodbye' in the blonde's direction.
"Uh, what just happened?" Matt blinked at the now empty space where his friend had just been a few moments prior.

"You're hiding something, Kagome," Kudamon deadpanned.
"N-No I'm not!" Kagome laughed nervously, trying to cover her stutter.
The fox-like Digimon leered at his partner for a second before his golden eyes lit up. "You finally figured it out!"
"Figured what out?" the raven-haired girl asked as she sped up her pace.
"That you l—" "Kagome! Wait up!" Kudamon was cut off by a feminine shout from behind them.
The raven-haired teen stopped to look for whoever had called for her and saw Sora running up to her, waving all the while. "Hey Sora, what's up?"
"I just wanted to make sure you got these before I left," Sora pulled out a small neatly wrapped package with a lavender bow and a small cluster of flowers decorating the box.
"What's this?" Kagome asked curiously.
"Just a thank you for teaching me how to bake those cookies! Well, that and it's also an early birthday present," The orange-haired girl smiled. "No go on, open it, I want to see what you think of it!"
Kagome laughed, "Okay, okay, already!" She carefully unwrapped the package, taking care not to damage the flowers. When she lifted the small layers of tissue, the teen gasped. "Oh Sora…"
Inside the box was an intricately designed white lacey bracelet with a semi-large gold butterfly with a violet glass bead attached to just off the centre to the left with scattered faux-gems and chains around the fabric.
"It took a while to make and find the right stuff," Sora explained, "But I hope it was worth the wait…"
"It certainly was," Kagome reached out to give the orange-haired girl a tight hug, "But it wasn't necessary, you know? I was happy to teach you and I'd do it again anytime you want!"
"I know," Sora nodded, "But I wanted to; you're always giving and helping, but you never take anything in return, so I wanted to do something for you this time." She took the bracelet out. "Here, let me put it on you."
Kagome obliged and held out her wrist, allowing the orange-haired girl to attach it the small clasp that closed with a pretty 'snip'. "So what do you think?"
"It's just like I thought it'd be!" Sora clapped her hands in glee. She looked at her wrist and her eyes widened when she saw the time on her watch. "Oh no, I've gotta get home! I promised my Mom that I'd help out at the shop today!"
"H-Hey," Kagome yelled after her, "You never told me who you gave those cookies to!"
Sora only waved back to Kagome in response, so it wasn't clear if the girl had heard her or not.
"Cookies?" Kudamon asked.
Kagome nodded. "Sora came over asking me if I knew how to bake, saying that she wanted to make some cookies for a boy she liked. Except, I don't know who she gave them to…" With that said Kagome dashed for the Computer Lab and quickly accessed the DigiPort. "DigiPort: Open!"
-Digital World; Primary Village-
"It's wonderful to be back here again," Kagome's gaze was soft as she gazed at the colorful area that was the nursery. Her gaze turned dark when she looked out upon the demolished areas of Primary Village. "There's just something about Primary Village that calms a person…"
"Kagome, is that you?!" a voice called out.
The raven-haired girl turned in the direction of the voice and smiled when she saw Elecmon bounding towards her. "Elecmon!"
"It is you!" Elecmon grinned. He looked her up and down, studying the girl he'd met so long ago. "You sure have grown," he whistled.
"How is everything over here?" she asked.
"Well, a lot needs rebuilding after what the Digimon Emperor did," Elecmon sighed, "But the nursery at least is okay for the most part." His ears perked up. 'Do you want to see the little ones? A few of them just hatched today!"
"Sure!" Kagome nodded with a smile as Kudamon just gave a nod.
The red and violet-striped Digimon led the raven-haired girl and her partner over to a small cluster of what looked like baby baskets. "Well, here they are! Kids, this is a good friend of mine. This is Kagome and her Digimon, Kudamon."
"Hello, there," Kagome said gently to the little Digimon that looked up at her and Kudamon with wide eyes.
Kudamon blinked at one of the YukimiBotamon. "Was I ever that small?"
"Everyone is at some point in their life," Kagome laughed with Elecmon.
The~Ninth~Child
It wasn't until an hour or two later did she feel a familiar aura nearby, though a slight bit changed from the last time she'd sensed it. 'So he's here…Hmm, might as well go over there now before the little ones get to him…'
With that thought in mind, the dark-haired girl walked calmly walked over to where she sensed the source of the new aura. "Where are we going?" Kudamon asked.
"To see someone," Kagome said cryptically, continuing at a steady pace.
The raven-haired girl continued walking until she was near the edge of Primary Village where a large patch of DigiEggs lay unhatched with a stray cradle or two scattered around here and there among towers of giant blocks and children's' toys. It wasn't until both Digimon and partner heard voices did they stop.
"—think's gonna happen?" a small voice squeaked angrily. "Wormmon's gonna hatch so you can treat him badly all over again?"
"Wormmon…won't come back to me?" she heard Ken's voice. "Just like Sam won't come back either…"
Whatever was said after, the raven-haired teen wasn't able to hear as she stifled a gasp when images flew through her mind yet again.
The first seemed to be of a woman and an unknown man standing back to back before a Control Spire. The second image was that of the woman pushing something into a Control Spire, only for it to morph into something that faded out before Kagome could see. The final was of Ken and a tall Digimon destroying certain Digimon one by one, be it day or night.
'Well, it looks like the fight's not over, then,' Kagome sighed. She turned a corner around one of the large block towers. "That's enough, Little Ones," Kagome said calmly walking over to Ken and the small Digimon.
"But that's the Digimon Emperor!" a Botamon protested. "We have to get him out of here before he starts messing everything up again!"
"This isn't the Digimon Emperor, though," Kagome smiled gently at the small Digimon, looking at Ken's shocked expression, "This boy is Ken Ichijouji, one of the DigiDestined."
"But I—" Ken tried speaking up.
"But you're not anymore, are you?" the raven-haired girl retorted. "The past is the past and it's there that it should be left. Focus on the present and head towards the future; that's what you should be doing now."
"But how?" the navy-haired preteen asked, tears streaming down his face. "I—I did so many horrible things! I even let Wormmon die because I was so blind to everything else around me! How can you just stand there and act like none of it ever happened?!"
"Do you care about Wormmon? Kudamon asked, out of the blue.
"Y-Yes," the preteen hiccupped, "M-More than a-anything! But I couldn't keep my promise! I wasn't kind and gentle for so long! But I promise that I'll spend the rest of my life trying to be as kind and gentle as Wormmon thought I was!"
Kagome smiled gently. "Then look at your Crest," she gestured to the glower that shone through the fabric of his pants.
"What the—?" Ken cut himself off.
"That would be your Crest of Kindness," Kudamon answered. "Crests react when the bearer expresses an act of whatever their Crest represents. Yours is reacting to your sincere resolve to be kind."
"And that isn't the only thing that's reacting to your promise," Kagome added, she pointed a finger at a glowing DigiEgg just a few feet away, "Look."
"A DigiEgg?" Ken whispered. "And it's glowing just like my Crest! But…it looks different from all the other eggs here…" He knelt down before the egg and reached out to touch it, "Could it be…?"
A bright light enveloped the area when the navy-haired boy's fingertips made contact with the surface of the Egg. "What's going on?!" Ken cried out in fright.
"Hi Ken!" a small baby Digimon greeted from his cradle when the light died down.
"I've seen you before, I think?" Ken tilted his head. The Digimon in the cradle before him was a small green bun with a long step with a leaf coming off of the back of its body and a pacifier in his mouth.
"I'm Leafmon!" the Digimon bounced into Ken's lap. "I'm the baby form of Wormmon!"
"I kept looking for you!" Ken hugged the little Digimon close. "I never stopped!"
"Thank you, Ken," Leafmon nuzzled his partner, "Thank you for keeping your promise."
"My promise?" Ken looked down at the small Digimon.
"To be kind and gentle!" Leafmon grinned as best as he could with a pacifier in his mouth.
"And I should thank you," the navy-haired boy looked up at Kagome, "for helping me."
"I didn't do much, and you know it," Kagome shook her head.
"No," Ken denied, "You did a lot more than you think. You talked sense into me when I was acting all high and mighty, the others may have fought with you, but you directed them somehow. So thank you."
"All right," Kagome sighed, "I don't suppose you'll let it go." Her expression turned serious. "But I will warn you, something big will be starting, the Digital World isn't as safe as we think it is, even with the 'fall' of the Digimon Emperor."
"What do you mean?" Ken's gaze narrowed on the older girl.
"I don't particularly understand it myself," the raven-haired girl told him, "But I can tell you that if you try and do things on your own, you'll get yourself into more trouble than you could imagine, and I don't mean the physical kind. You'll fight, I know you will, but make up your mind quick when the choice is offered, you'll be surprised with the answer."
And with that said, Kagome turned back and walked away from the preteen and his baby Digimon. "What were you talking about back there, Kagome?" Kudamon asked.
"The Digital World isn't safe and it probably won't be for a long while," the raven-haired girl explained, "I don't know what'll be happening, only that it's going to involve the Control Spires and some woman I've never seen before. Ken and Wormmon will try and fight on their own, but even I know that it's a lot to do for one person, especially when you consider the amount of Control Spires still standing."
"And the choice?" the fox-like Digimon looked at his partner.
"We both know that everyone has mixed feelings about Ken," the raven-haired girl reminded her Digimon, "His history as the Digimon Emperor seems to trump over the fact that he is also a DigiDestined. But with the danger coming, I have a feeling that we'll need all the help we can get. One by one, everyone will see that Ken really is remorseful and will slowly come to accept him and offer a second chance. But when the time comes, someone is going to ask him to join us, and it's only then will we become stronger."
Kudamon's brow furrowed a bit when he heard the wording his partner used. He looked to the raven-haired girl and his eyes widened when they landed on her face.
Kagome's eyes were glowing as they usually would when she would go into a trance, but the difference now was that they didn't glow all the way, rather a glowing outline surrounded her pupil, letting Kudamon know that while Kagome was still there, something had snuck its way through her, offering her the extra information that he felt that she didn't even know.
'This is an interesting development,' Kudamon thought, 'But I wonder if it's a good thing…or if it's a sign of things to come?'
-Earth; Kamiya Residence-
"What are you doing?" Kudamon tilted his head curiously as he sat in Kagome's lap, watching what she was doing.
"A Tarot Reading," Kagome answered, laying out five cards into a horseshoe spread, "Sora gave this deck to me as a gift on my birthday three years ago, but I've never really had a use for it until now."
"Why now?" the fox-like Digimon asked.
"My visions tell me about things that will happen during a certain time, usually only limiting themselves to one day," Kagome explained quietly, placing the deck down after laying her cards out, a certain question in her mind, "Tarot Readings, if done correctly, can usually predict further than just a day, unlike my visions. I've been doing readings now and then after Yolei and Cody met their Digimon, but I haven't done one in a few weeks…"
"So why now?" Kudamon looked up at his partner.
"Well one reason is because I haven't done one in a while," Kagome told her partner, "But to be honest, I just want to know something. I had a vision earlier, showing me Ken at Primary Village, but I also saw a woman turning a Control Spire into something. I have a really bad feeling that something's going to happen and that the Digital World isn't safe yet…"
One by one, the raven-haired girl flipped each of the cards to show whichever ones she'd chosen.
The Chariot.
The Devil.
Justice.
The Ace of Swords in reverse.
The Tower.
Kagome's eyes narrowed at the layout. 'This doesn't look too good…The Ace of Swords usually indicates a new beginning, but it's in reverse, so it means that nothing is as it seems. Illusions… The Justice card usually indicates balance, but in this context, I think it's trying to say that the balance will be disrupted. The Chariot and Devil cards are all right since I know what I want and that I want to be able to see the truth and not just what everyone else thinks is the truth. But The Tower…that indicates a change in situation, and in this case, it's not a good one…'
"Well?" Kudamon spoke up quietly. "What are the cards telling you?"
"There's trouble coming," Kagome answered, "And I have a feeling that no one will be safe…"
Just some fun facts:
-Tarot Readings generally have many layouts to choose from, but the most common are the Three Card Spread, the Five-Card Horseshoe Spread, and the Ten-Card Celtic Cross Spread. The more cards you have laid out, usually the more answers you'll get to whatever your question is as Tarot Readings aren't truly fortunetelling, though it's often confused with the concept.
-The Spread I used was the Five-Card Horseshoe as the layout goes as such: Present Position, Present Desires, The Unexpected, the Immediate Future, and the Outcome.
-Depending on what question or situation you may have in mind, each tarot card will have a different meaning. The interpretation is also affected if the card in question is reversed or upright, as each meaning is completely different from one another, or quite similar in some cases.
