PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BEGINNING!

AN: Forgive me if this chapter sounds at all rushed or choppy or anything of the like!

Now, there will be a few songs in this one, though if they are Japanese songs, I'll be using the English translation lyrics. Of course, with the title there, it shouldn't be too hard to find if you're unfamiliar with the song in question. Since the songs I will be using are solos for Kagome, I won't have a key; that will only apply when there's a duet involved. The translated lyrics may not be totally correct as I've changed some to make sure they make sense, despite having looked up several translations of the songs.

But I would like to thank Bishounen'sFoxyMiko for her song suggestions!

Review, but if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!

Have You Ever – S Club7

Lookin down the road you should be takin'
I should know
(I should know)
*'Cause I loved and lost the day I let
Yes I loved and lost the day I let
Yes I loved and lost the day I let you go*

Kagome opened her eyes as the latest collaboration she and Mimi had created. 'It wasn't bad, but good God was that depressing! And yet…it fits so well…'

The raven-haired girl and her partner were currently in her room at her grandparents' home in Nagano, having arrived two nights ago. Her grandmother had been ordered to strict bed rest and her grandfather had gone on a last-minute business trip to Nagano for something or another two days before Kagome had arrived, a nurse having come to her grandmother until she arrived.

"Kagome," Kudamon slipped into her lap, "Are you sure you're okay?"

"I don't I'll ever be," Kagome admitted with a sigh, "But…I'll just have to get over it…If Matt and Sora want to be with each other, who am I to interfere with that?"

The fox-like Digimon looked up at his heartbroken partner and thought back to the song she'd just been listening to. 'Yes she did, she loved and lost the day she let him go…' "So what are you going to call this album?" he asked, trying to get the raven-haired teen's mind off of the depressing matter.

"Well," Kagome began, "For our first album, we didn't have so much as a central theme, I guess, but we just called it "Masquerade" in a way to introduce ourselves to the music world. This time, we have a variety of songs to choose from to make up the album, unless we want to make it one of those double-disc releases."

"What kinds of songs have you created?" Kudamon asked. "If you sort out whatever you have so far that you haven't put on your first album and then categorize them, it might make the selection easier for you."

"I guess you're right," the raven-haired girl nodded. "Well, besides what we had in our first album, we have a whole variety of songs that we made up. Some we released online, and others we just kept to ourselves for the time being. But it looks like I have more emotional songs as of late…" 'I'm just glad Mimi didn't really say anything about those, though I don't doubt that she doesn't know the reason already…'

"Well, then what do you want to call this album?" Kudamon asked.

"Mimi and I wanted something that shows that we're not just vocalists or music makers," Kagome explained, "That we're still just normal people experiencing everything any normal person does."

Kudamon opened his mouth to reply to her comment when a voice called out, "Kagome, my rose? Could you come here, please?"

"Coming, Gandamama!" Kagome quickly shut down all her programs and carefully closed her laptop before gathering Kudamon around her neck and walking out down the hall to where her grandmother lay tucked in bed. "Did you need anything, Grandmamma?"

The~Ninth~Child

Miyako Kamiya had a soft, but peach-like complexion, akin to Kari's skin tone with a pair of bright cinnamon eyes. Laugh-lines could be seen around the corners of her mouth as her curly silvery hair was pulled back into a braid.

She currently wore a pair of pale-pink flannel pajamas with little flowers in red and blue scattered over the fabric.

The~Ninth~Child

"Sit down, sweetie," Miyako patted the empty space next to her on the bed she and her husband shared. "Now, why don't you tell this old girl what's had you so down since you came here?"

"It's nothing, Grandmamma," Kagome denied, "I just got some unexpected news, that's all."

"Now don't you lie to your Grandmamma, honey," the elder woman wagged a finger in her granddaughter's bemused face. "Come now, my Rose, what's gotten you so down? Would it happen to be…a boy?"

Icy-blue eyes widened in surprise as they gazed at the elderly woman lying in the bed. 'H-How did she—?' "Grandmamma, how did you…?"

"I'm your Grandmamma, Kagome," the elder woman spoke softly. "I've watched you grow from an energetic little girl to the blossoming and mature young woman you are today. I know that you don't get depressed very easily and when you do, it's something that's impacted you greatly. And I also know that the little 'scarf' you have around your neck really isn't a scarf at all, my dear."

Kudamon unwrapped himself just enough so his head was facing the older woman. "I apologize for the intrusion," he bowed his head lightly, "My name is Kudamon, Kagome's Digimon partner and protector. It is a pleasure to meet you, Madam."

"Now isn't he just the politest thing," Miyako smiled as she incline her head a little, "The pleasure is mine, Kudamon and let me thank you for looking after my granddaughter all this time."

"Kagome is my partner and my lady," the fox-like Digimon replied, "But first and foremost, she is my friend and I would do anything to keep her safe."

"Just like I would for you," the raven-haired girl smiled at her partner.

"You have a good friend there, Rose," Miyako smiled softly at the duo, "Now, no more stalling; tell your Grandmamma what's eating away at your heart?"

"I—" Kagome cut herself off, not knowing how to explain, "W-Well, there's a boy, a friend, Matt, who has a Digimon, too; in fact Tai, Kari, and I fought with him and a few other friends four years ago."

"Ah yes," the elder woman nodded sagely, "nasty business, that was. I'm sorry, dear, go on."

"Well," the raven-haired girl continued, "A little while ago, I r-realized that I—that uh, um—"

"That you were in love with him?" Miyako finished gently.

Kagome nodded, a blush alit across her cheeks. "But," tears gathered in her eyes, "I found out just before I came here that another friend of mine, Sora, is in love with him, too…" drop after drop leaked down fair cheeks.

"Oh my rose," Miyako took her granddaughter's hand in hers, "Did you ever tell this boy that you liked him?"

Kagome shook her head. "I wanted to, but now, I don't think I want to do even that…"

"What?" cinnamon eyes locked onto the icy-blue orbs that had darkened two shades. "What do you mean, child? Don't you think he has a right to know?"

"Not when I'd be hurting my friend in the process!" Kagome choked out. "I wanted to tell him, but I just didn't know how! And now I find out that a friend of mine likes the same person I do!"

"Then what will you do?" the elder woman asked, already having an inkling of what her granddaughter would do. 'I know this girl well; she puts others' well-being and happiness before her own. My rose, it's all right to be selfish now and then…'

"Nothing," Kagome wiped away whatever tears had already stained her cheeks, "I won't say a word and Sora out when she needs it. I'll cheer her on no matter what."

"Kagome…" Kudamon whispered.

Miyako sighed sadly with the thought of her granddaughter being unhappy imprinted in her memory. "I won't tell you what to do, Kagome, since you're old enough to make your own decisions. But know that whatever choice you make, I'll support you." A mischievous twinkle gleamed in her eyes. "Unless of course it's a bad decision, then I'll personally deliver a Grade A smack upside the head!"

The comment drew out the giggle the elder woman had been hoping to get. "Thanks, Grandmamma," Kagome smiled at her grandmother.

"Always welcome, my rose," Miyako squeezed her granddaughter's hand, "You're always welcome. Now, why don't you sing a little to get all this off your chest?"

"S-Sing?" Kagome laughed nervously. "What are you talking about? You know I don't sing!"

"Now what have I told you about lying to your Grandmamma?" cinnamon eyes narrowed on icy-blue orbs.

"N-Not to do it?" Kagome sweat-dropped.

"That's right," Miyako nodded, "Now; you and I both know that you're one of those two new mystery singers."

'How does she know this stuff?!' Kagome eyed her grandmother, only receiving a look in response that said "You're really asking?"

"What do you want to hear?" the raven-haired girl relented, deciding not to ask how her grandmother got her information.

"Whatever comes to mind," the elder woman replied, "I just want to hear my darling Rose sing to me."

"Why do you call me that, Grandmamma?" Kagome asked out of the blue. She'd always wondered about the nicknames people gave her, even though she never really minded or questioned them.

Miyako smiled at her granddaughter. "A rose has many secrets from the time it starts out as a bud to the time when it blooms; its thorn protects whatever the flower wants to hide. You, my rose, have many secrets, I know, and you've always been a puzzle I don't think anyone has ever been able to figure out because your thorns protect you whether you know it or not. You've begun blossoming from the bud you were…" her eyes glazed over with tears, "time goes by quite fast, doesn't it? It seems like it was just yesterday you were running around here with Tai and Kari, and now look at all of you!"

"No matter what," Kagome smiled down at her grandmother, "I'll always be your Rose, just as Tai and Kari will be your little Leader and Fairy…"

The elderly woman grinned softly before nodding. "Now, go on and sing a little! Can't have an old bird like me falling asleep on you, right?"

Kagome laughed. "Okay, threes songs and then you're going to rest, just like the doctor told you to!" She quickly went over a mental list of the solo tracks she'd created, quickly choosing three to use.

New Future – Changin' My Life/Fullmoon O Sagashite

Just one thing doesn't change
That dream I've always painted
How do I appear as I am now
Than in my young eyes back then

Hey, look up at it, it's such a vast night sky
So that soon, so that you understand
You will shine at your best soon so hurry
Look for the FULL MOON

Let's sing a song!
Together forever
Everything I can do for you right now
Day by day
Your destiny until now
From tomorrow, clutch your hopes to your chest

Let's sing a song!
Together forever
If I'm with you I can overcome any hardship
More and more
More and more and more
I want to be closer
Please stay right here
Many thanks to you!

Wondrous chance meetings
As long as they keep happening
We have ever more precious things
All those days full of chance mischief
Now I can laugh and love them

That's right
I always yearned for the wide stage
Now I'm no longer alone
Everyone is full of smiles
Because this is where I am

Let's sing a song
Tonight, rather than the spotlight
It's me that will shine now
Day by day
Those passionate looks and cheers shine upon me

Let's sing a song
Tonight I want to believe there are never ending burning thoughts
More and more
More and more and more
I want to scream so this song
This dream will never end

"That was wonderful," Miyako's eyes sparkled in delight, "What did you call that one?"

Kagome giggled at her enthusiastic grandmother. "I honestly didn't know what to call it at first, but my friend and Co-Singer suggested that I call it 'New Future'." She took a deep breath before beginning the next song.

My All – Ayumi Hamasaki

How much time have we spent together?
How far have we come together?
We've left so much behind us
It may not have been perfect, but it shone
Our crystal now shines proudly here

Honestly, I can't say
That everything's been fun and happy
But at least, I was never alone

I want to show you a dream
One that won't end, that won't disappear
I want you to have that kind of dream
That is my wish

I want to protect you
Even if something happens
I'll keep defending you
With my all

I can say that there isn't a single thing I regret
We've always fought to the finish
With everything we had

Honestly, there have been hard nights
And days when I felt helpless
But at least, I was never alone

I can see your smile
So endearing and bright
I want to see that smile
For today, I'm alive once again

I feel your love
So strong and warm
I can feel that invincible feeling
With my entire soul

I want to show you a dream
One that won't end, that won't disappear
I want you to have that kind of dream
That is my wish

I want to protect you
Even if something happens
I'll keep defending you
With my all

"That was beautiful," Miyako said softly, opening her eyes which had closed sometime during the song. "How did you come up with it?"

"Tai inspired me, actually," Kagome said sheepishly, "He and Kari both did. I already had the melody down, I just needed lyrics and somehow I just started thinking about Tai and Kari. The next thing I know, I had my song."

The raven-haired girl looked up at the clock mounted on the nightstand. "One more and you're getting some rest; no ifs, ands, or buts about it." She saw the slightly drooping eyelids of her grandmother. 'A lullaby, then might do the trick…'

(AN: I stumbled onto this song after going through all my VHS and DVDs once when I was in a mood to sort of reminisce…Anyway, I thought it was a cute and soothing little thing.)

Constant as the Stars Above – Jessica Brown

Constant as the stars above
Always know that you are loved
And my love shining in you
Will help you make your dreams come true
Will help your dreams come true

The lamb lies down and rests its head
On its mother's downy bed
Dolphin plays in the moonlight's glow
And butterfly dreams of a violet rose
Dreams of a violet rose

I'll cradle you in my arms tonight
As sun embraces the moonlight
The clouds will carry us off tonight
Our dreams will run deep like the sea
Our dreams will run deep like the sea

Constant as the stars above
Always know that you are loved
And my love shining in you
Will help you make your dreams come true
Will help your dreams come true

When Kagome's voice faded with the final note, she looked down and smiled when she saw her grandmother fast asleep with a sweet smile gracing her lips. "Sweet dreams, Grandmamma."

It was then that she heard a soft clapping coming from the doorway. The teen looked up to see her grandfather, Renji Kaniya, standing there, jacket of his arm and a duffle by his feet.

The~Ninth~Child

Renji Kaniya had a strong face with a few wrinkles littering the lightly-tanned complexion. His silvery hair was combed back nicely as his dark-brown eyes stared out from behind a pair of thin-wire-rimmed glasses.

He wore a navy suit with a pale-blue shirt and black tie; while on his feet were a pair of shiny black dress shoes.

The~Ninth~Child

"Grandpapa?" Kagome whispered loudly. "When did you get home?!"

"About when you finished up the song before the one you just sang," He bent down to give the raven-haired teen a hug. "You have a wonderful voice, my dear. I suppose I understand why Miyako's been so obsessed with Masquerade's songs!"

Kagome only flushed in response. "I guess that since you know about that, then you know about Kudamon, too?"

Renji nodded. "I know of him, but it's a pleasure to meet you all the same, Kudamon." He inclined his head to the fox-like Digimon.

"The pleasure is mine, Sir," Kudamon bowed his head lightly.

-The Next Day-

"Kagome what's gotten into you?" Kudamon asked with wide eyes as he watched his partner rush around the room like a loon.

"Something bad is going to happen," the raven-haired teen said urgently, packing a large first-aid kit along with extra first-aid supplies into her messenger bag. She took a small cooler and filled it to the brim with ice before tossing in a few small bottles of water and already frozen ice-packs.

"What?" the fox-liked Digimon rose up in alarm. "What do mean? When?"

"I don't know when, but I know that that strange woman I saw in my vision, the one the others called Arukenimon, creates a new Digimon, this one even more powerful than the ones that came before."

"Why?" Kudamon asked after a moment's hesitation.

"Because she created BlacWarGreymon," Kagome whispered. "If I'd seen that vision earlier, I could have gone with the others when they did! But now…now I don't even know if I'm too late or not!" 'What's happening?! My visions usually come before anything bad happens and I have time to tell everyone at least something, but lately, I haven't been able to get anything until it was nearly too late! Is Oryu's gift wearing off?'

Kudamon said nothing as he wrapped himself around his partner's neck as she quickly brought up the DigiPort, setting to the nearest location to the other DigiDestined as possible.

"So you're leaving, then?" came a voice from the doorway.

Kagome looked back to see her grandfather standing there with his hands in his pockets, a worried and mildly sad expression on his face. "Yeah, I have to, Grandpapa."

"And I don't suppose that anything I say will make you stay?" the elder man asked with a hopeful glint in his chocolate eyes.

Kagome shook her head in negative. "I'm sorry."

"I thought that might be your answer," Renji sighed, "Please, though, just…be careful, whatever you do. Your grandmother and I worry about as much as your parents would if they knew about this, maybe even more."

"I'll do my best, Grandpapa," Kagome nodded, "I'll do my best." She held her D3 up to the screen.

"DigiPort: Open!"

-Digital World-

'Oh please, please, please don't let it be too late!' Kagome prayed silently as she nonverbally urged Reppamon to go faster.

The duo passed by herds of Digimon, both large and small as well as fields of Control Spires that hadn't been eradicated yet. But they ignored them all as they continued running towards their destination.

Kagome gasped suddenly. "Oh no…" she breathed out in horrified awe. Just over the tops of the trees, in the distance, both partner and Digimon could see small dark lines rising into the air before disappearing only for a large dark shadow to begin forming in their place.

"Should I assume that is our target?" Reppamon asked over the sound of his feet pounding on the ground.

"Where that shadow is manifesting is where we need to be," Kagome nodded. "Come on!"

"Right!" Reppamon barked out as he lurched forward with one last burst of speed, hoping that it would be enough to take them to the others.

The~Ninth~Child

"No…Kari! T.K!" Kagome cried out when she and Reppamon finally made it to the battlefield. "Reppamon, go and help Anquilamon, Antylamon, and ExVeemon! I'll go and see what I can do for Kari and T.K!"

With that said, the raven-haired teen leapt off of the masked Digimon's back and quickly made her way to the two downed preteens and their De-Digivolved Digimon. "They definitely don't look good…how the heck are supposed to explain this to the others?!" she muttered, carefully and quickly heaving Kari and Gatomon behind a large boulder before getting up and doing the same for T.K and Patamon.

"…gme?" Kari wheezed out weakly.

"Yeah," the raven-haired teen nodded, "But you shouldn't be talking; save your strength I'll do what I can to help, but I don't know if this'll be enough…"

"Kagome!" Yolei shouted in relief.

"Thank goodness you're here!" Cody added.

"Man, they're getting creamed out there!" Davis clenched his fists. "That BlackWarGreymon's just too strong for four Champion Digimon!"

"Where is Ken?" Kagome asked, as she quickly took out a few towels and a small water bottle to clean the wounded quartet as best as she could.

"Who needs him?" Cody snapped. "We were doing just fine before he came and we'd still be fine now!"

"Really?" the raven-haired girl asked quietly. "Even though Paildramon is the only Digimon strong enough at this time to even go up against BlackWarGreymon who, might I add, is a Mega Digimon?"

"So!" the young boy protested. "Why can't ExVeemon just DNA Digivolve with Ankylomon instead?"

"Because it doesn't work that way," Kagome answered, as she carefully bandaged whatever small cuts and/or scrapes she could see, "DNA Digivolution is more than just two Digimon becoming one, so when it happens once, that's the way it'll continue to be."

"Then I'll go," Yolei nodded, "Aquilamon!"

"You called?" the large eagle Digimon shouted.

"Let's go and find Ken!" the lavender-haired girl ran over and climbed up onto her partner's back. "You guys hold down the fort until we get back!"

"I don't get it!" Cody all but growled. "Why do we even need him?"

"Cody Hida," Kagome said coldly as she held an ice pack onto both T.K and Kari's heads, "Whether you want to accept it or not, ken is a part of the DigiDestined. He may have done deplorable things in the past, but a person's past should never and can never define who they are!"

"I've done all I can," Kagome said, packing up the medical supplies back into her messenger bag and closed the cooler after replacing the empty water bottles, "Now all that's left is to let them rest and keep them out of danger…"

"Oh man!" Davis growled. "Where are Ken and Yolei?! I don't think the Digimon can hold on for much longer!"

Kagome looked up from behind the boulder and saw that Davis was correct, each of the remaining three Digimon were quickly tiring as BlackWarGreymon's attacks continued on relentlessly. 'Just a little longer…hold on just a little more! I can feel Ken and Yolei, but they're still a little far off…'

The three DigiDestined could only watch in fright and worry as the dark Mega Digimon tossed around the three Champion Digimon as though they weighed little to nothing.

"W-What happened?" T.K groaned as she sat up a bit. "Oh no!" His eyes widened in shock. "Patamon! Kari!"

"Calm down," Kagome put her hands on the boys' shoulders, "Patamon's safe, and so is Kari. Gatomon's still unconscious, but she'll pull through."

The blonde looked beside him to see his girlfriend barely conscious while his partner was fully awake, though Kagome's words were proven right as he saw that Gatomon had yet to open her eyes.

It wasn't until a few more agonizing moments did they finally see Aquilamon and Stingmon come into view, their respective partners on the their backs.

"Sorry I'm late!" Yolei called down to them. "But I brought Ken and Stingmon!"

"Finally!" Davis grinned widely, hiding his relief.

"Let's get to work!" Ken nodded to the maroon-haired boy.

"ExVeemon…" "Stingmon…"

"DNA Digivolve to: Paildramon!"

Upon seeing the new opponent, BlackWarGreymon charged straight for the Ultimate Digimon. "This is gonna get ugly!" Paildramon commented loudly as he, too, charged at BlackWarGreymon with two long blades protruding from his hands.

The DigiDestined watched in awe as the two Digimon bounced off one another after meeting each other head on. "Are they really that evenly matched?" Yolei gaped.

"Not really," Kagome shook her head, watching worriedly at the scene above, "They're exceptionally strong and they can hold their own against each other because they could be equal in strength. But you have to remember, BlackWarGreymon is a Mega-Level Digimon, and as such, he has more power." 'I just hope he doesn't use that power or it won't be good for any of us…'

"Wow, talk about meeting head to head!" Paildramon exclaimed. "We're gonna need an aspirin the size of a Control Spire after this fight!" He flew up high. "Let's see how you take this: Desperado Blaster!"

A shower of large glowing pellets rained down on the Mega Digimon, uplifting everything around the Mega Digimon, but the Digimon itself.

"Sing…"

"What?" Kagome looked up when she heard Oryu's voice in her head.

"No way," Yolei shook her head, unable to believe the scene before her eyes.

"There's not even a scratch!" Ken breathed out in frightened awe.

"Your voice…will…be…your…salvation…"

"What is that supposed to mean?" the raven-haired teen muttered. "How is singing supposed to get us out of this mess?!"

"Oh man!" Davis gritted his teeth. "Paildramon was our only chance and nothing he does had any effect!"

"Uh-oh…" Kari's eyes widened when she sat up, her gaze on the glowing for of BlackWarGreymon as a dangerous aura began rising up around him. "We need to get out of here!"

'No, no NO!' Kagome thought urgently. 'I have to keep them safe! I can't let them get hurt. I won't let anyone get hurt!'

"SING!"

Kagome gasped inaudibly before her eyes took on a blank visage as they began glowing brightly.

"Kagome?" Patamon asked. "Kagome, is everything okay?"

T.K and Kari glanced at the older girl, only for their eyes to widen in shock, or at least Kari's widened only slightly. "Oh boy…" T.K whispered, "Not now, not when he's gonna—"

"Uh, what's wrong with Kagome?" Davis asked confusedly.

But before anyone could answer, the teen with glowing eyes stood up and walked steadily until she stood a few feet away from them all.

"Is she crazy?!" Yolei burst out. :Wait a second," her face srunched up in concentration, "Is she…singing?"

The group blinked before listening closely and found that the raven-haired teen was indeed singing something, but the voice coming out of her mouth didn't sound hers. The voice singing sounded almost unearthly, entrancing.

Siren Song – Yuki Kajiura/Tsubasa Chronicles

Omeriata esta dikore arma
Amanta mesta dikore
Samariya iyarmai lasai adolo

With every word she sang, the aura around BlackWarGreymon grew stronger and stronger. The moment she'd sung the final note, a great bright light engulfed them all and spanned outwards on for miles in a destructive shockwave.

The group closed their eyes from the sheer brightness, waiting for the inevitable impact and pain that was sure to come.

"What the—?" Davis opened his eyes and looked to see that they'd come out unscathed. "But how did we—?"

"I don't understand," Ken shook his head, "An attack of that magnitude shouldn't have left us unharmed!"

"I think I know what happened," T.K spoke up, looking at the raven-haired teen that stood only feet away from them. "Look." He pointed to the sky above.

The rest of the group glanced up to see a translucent white dome-like barrier surrounding them. "What is that?" Cody asked with wide eyes.

"It must've been Kagome," Paildramon answered, "She probably did something to protect us all."

"And she's not hurt either," Davis nodded, "So I guess everything's fine, right?"

And, just then, as if on cue, Kagome's eyes faded back to their icy-blue hue before closing; her body went slack and the barrier disappeared. Before anyone had any time to say anything, let alone act, Reppamon bounded forward, stopping so that his partner would land on his furry paw instead of the hard ground.

One by one, each of the DigiDestined ran over to the unconscious teen and gasped, wincing at the state their teammate was in.

"Oh man," T.K breathed out, "If you call this okay, Davis, I don't want to know what painful looks like! Just look at her!"

Kagome's body was riddled with scratches and scrapes, bruises and marks. Her hair had come out from the high-ponytail it was usually in and now lay lanky and strewn over her body with a matted and wrinkled black curtain.

"But how could this have happened?" Yolei asked in disbelief, as she took out Kagome's first aid kit and grabbed a hold of the cooler she'd brought before beginning to clean the older girl's wounds, T.K and Kari helping out where they could. "We were protected from that blast, so why wasn't she?"

No one but the Digimon noticed how BlackWarGreymon ignored Arukenimon and Mummymon's orders as he flew off into the distance.

"I think," Ken answered slowly, "That when she put up that barrier, whatever damage it took was transferred to her."

"She's gonna be all right, though, right?" Cody asked worriedly.

"She'll need a lot of rest," Davis said seriously, making the rest of the group glance briefly at him in surprise, "And I think it's safe to say that we all agree that Kagome should stay away from the Digital World for a few days, right?"

Sounds of agreement echoed as Yolei, T.K, and Kari finished patching up the raven-haired teen. The group all pitched in as they carefully loaded the raven-haired girl onto Reppamon.

"Let's go on home," Davis sighed, "It's been a long day…"

-Hamasaki Academy; Computer Lab; That Afternoon-

"What the heck happened over there?!" were the first first Tai uttered as he, Matt, and Joe watched the teens and their Digimon (bar Ken) coming out of the computer. Kari and T.K looked battered, but otherwise fine, and Kagome…she looked like she'd been near-mauled or something!

Joe immediately knelt down to check up on Kagome, complimenting Yolei, kari, and T.K for a job well done of cleaning and bandaging the raven-haired girl. He quickly gave T.K and Kari a quick once-over before telling them that they should just take some aspirin, get a good night's rest, and take it easy for a few days.

"Arukenimon used a bunch of Control Spires to create a Digimon called BlackWarGreymon," Cody explained, "Our Digimon tried fighting him, but he was just too strong, even for Paildramon! Kagome somehow protected us with some kind of shield. Except, we saw that while we were safe, Kagome must've taken the brunt of BlackWarGreymon's attack, and so, there she is…"

"But what are we going to do about Kagome?" Kari asked worriedly, holding Gatomon in her arms. "She's supposed to be at GranGran's, remember? We can't take her home or Mom and Daddy would think something's up."

"She's right," Tai ruffled his hair in frustration, "so what do we do?"

"By the way," Davis piped up, "How'd you know to come here anyway?"

"Kagome sent Tai, Joe and I messages on our D-Terminals saying you were injured and might need help when you came back," Matt held up his D-Terminal.

"I'll take Kagome over to my house so she can rest up a bit," Joe told them, picking up the raven-haired girl in question to hold her bridal-style in his arms. "When she wakes up, I'll personally escort her back to your grandparents' place through whatever gateway she used to get into the Digital World."

The rest of the group nodded in assent, agreeing to the idea before telling the older DigiDestined how they all decided that Kagome shouldn't go to the Digital World for a few days.

Matt looked on at the scene with an odd expression. 'What's wrong with me? It's almost like I don't like Joe holding her…'

"What just happened?"

"Your abilities are changing, Little One."

"Why?"

"That is something not even I know the answer to…"
