PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BEGINNING!

AN: Well, here it is, the final chapter of this story and the epilogue! Thank you my readers for keeping up with this for so long and bearing with me and my bad update timing! I hope you all have enjoyed the story despite a few mishaps here and there! I know this'll sound pretty weak of an ending, but I did my best!

Oh, and before I forget, I don't know when I could have this up, but stay on the lookout for a spin-off sort of thing to this story. It'll be just a mess of missing moments and the like that I never put in the story itself.

Review, but if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!

-The Ninth Child-

xX-Epilogue: Twenty-five Years Later-Xx

Kagome sighed after she sang the last note to a new song she had created. 'I can't believe it's been twenty-five years ! Time flies by so fast…'

The~Ninth~Child

Kagome wore a simple azure short-sleeved dress with a black belt cinched around her waist, and a pair of black knee-high boots.

Her hair was as long as ever and held up in a thick, high-ponytail.

The~Ninth~Child

In the years between now and the defeat of MaloMyotismon, the DigiDestined had all found their paths in life, changing as the world around them did. Ever since that incident twenty-five years ago, everyone in the world had gained a partner Digimon and knew of the existence of the Digital World. But despite all the differences that the discovery of the Digital World brought, the one thing that never changed was the friendship and bond between the DigiDestined.

Tai and Agumon had become diplomats dealing with relations between the human and Digital Worlds. Matt and Gabumon became an astronaut team and made it all the way to Mars, even though they should've only gone as far as the moon. He hadn't totally given up on music, either, so he stuck to managing small groups in his spare time. Sora and Biyomon had become fashion designers focused specifically on Japanese fashions. Joe had indeed become a doctor, but rather than work in the human world, he became the Digital World's first doctor. Mimi had become a fashion designer with a focus on many different styles, sometimes collaborating with Sora to create a new line. She'd also adopted that pink cowboy hat once more and it seemed the only time she took it off was during fashion shows. Though, she still worked on music with Kagome as Stella of Masquerade. Izzy worked as a researcher to discover more about the Digital World with Joe's brother and Sora's father. Just like Kari had wanted, she became a teacher. T.K had become a novelist writing a series of novels about their adventures in the Digital World. Ken and Stingmon became a detective team while Yolei stayed at home as a housewife. Cody has become a defense attorney, unfortunately that ended buying at least a hundred briefcases because Armadillomon kept sitting on them. Davis did indeed open up his noodle cart and it became a worldwide success. Kagome, on the other hand, became an artist majoring in many different styles with some of her pieces even being sold off to museums. But just like with Mimi, she also continued working on music as Mariposa of Masquerade.

Their private lives had also taken a turn and everyone was quite happy with how everything was. Tai and Sora had gotten married with a pair of fraternal twins, who had their own Yokomon and Koromon. Kari and T.K had gotten married as well with a pair of sons of their own, one having a Salamon and the other a Tokomon. Yolei and Ken had gotten together and now had three children, a girl, a boy, and a newborn girl that was born just a month ago. Joe and Mimi had gotten together after Joe stopped freaking out about how anyone could stand to date him. They, too, had a pair of sons. Cody married a nice girl he'd met during college and now had a daughter who had an Upamon. Davis had met someone has he'd traveled the world with his noodle cart, ending up with a son of his own with a DemiVeemon. Izzy wife was a sweet woman who taught her constantly-thinking husband to take a break once in a while. They had a daughter with a Motimon. Kagome and Matt had gotten married and had two children, a boy and a girl who each had a Kyaromon and a Tsunomon.

"It's hard to believe that so much time has passed," Kudamon nuzzled his partner.

"Isn't it?" Kagome smiled gently. "I still can't believe my little Kapurimon who went around calling me Mei-Mei Digivolved into a BlackAgumon!"

It was true, a few years ago, it seemed that Kapurimon was finally ready to Digivolve and became a BlackAgumon. Of course, Kagome found it absolutely hilarious when her BlackAgumon and Tai's Agumon started copying each other, believing it was a trick mirror or something.

"Mommy! It's time to go!" Kagome's son, Xander came into the room followed by his sister, Matt, and BlackAgumon.

Six-year-old Xander Ishida had the same raven hair his mother had, but instead of the wave hers carried, his stuck out more like Matt's had when he was younger. His eyes were the same cerulean as Matt.

He wore a pair of dark-brown pants paired with a blue long-sleeved shirt and a pair of white sneakers. He held a Tsunomon in his arms.

The~Ninth~Child

Ten-year-old Maya Ishida had wavy blonde hair that went down to just below her shoulders and the same icy-blue eyes of her mother.

She wore a pair of denim shorts and a green T-Shirt paired with a pair of black sneakers. A Kyaromon was held in her arms.

The~Ninth~Child

Matt hadn't really gotten the heart to cut his lengthened hair, so he kept the mid-back length tied back in a low ponytail. But other than gaining a little muscle from his astronaut training, he hadn't changed too much as the years wore on.

He wore a pair of khaki pants, a sky-blue button-down and a pair of brown docs.

"I'm coming," Kagome smiled at her children, "So why don't you wait in the room and we'll be there in just a minute."

"Finished up another song?" Matt asked, nodding to the laptop Kagome had been using just moments before.

"I couldn't help it, I just wasn't inspired to create anything to day," Kagome shrugged with a light smile.

"I still can't believe that after you and Mimi sang all those years ago, no one but our friends figured out who you two were!" the blonde chuckled.

"Ah, but you found out by accident, so it doesn't count," Kagome said cheekily, placing a quick peck on Matt's lips. "Now come, on, the others are waiting!"

-Digital World-

Even after so many years, the DigiDestined would always make time in their busy schedules to spend time with each other and their children be it in the human world or the Digital one.

"Hey, there they are!" Tai shouted, waving to Kagome and Matt, their children running off ahead of them to meet with the others' children. "What took you guys so long?"

"We did have work, you know," Kagome raised an eyebrow.

"Uh, right," Tai sweat-dropped a little with a sheepish grin, Sora laughing at her husband's antics.

Soon, the rest of their friends and their children came trickling in little by little, Davis and T.K being the last ones to arrive.

"Now be careful and always look out for each other," Kagome reminded her children.

"We will!" the Ishida siblings chorused.

'Even though our new adventures are nothing like the ones we had when we were kids,' Kagome thought, watching her children run off with everyone else's to play tag, 'We still enjoy them day after day. The darkness was never really gone like we thought it was, but then again, light can never exist without dark, so it was understandable. We know that it will always be like that, but as long as people remember to follow their dreams evil will always be kept at bay. And now it's up to our children and children everywhere to follow their dreams. Who knows what they'll find? But the only to discover that is to take the first step into an adventure!'

Matt looked down at Kagome, watching gaze at the group of children fondly. He turned up her face towards him and placed his lips on hers in a sweet kiss that conveyed all the love he had for her and then some.

Yes, everything was as it should be and it all began with a simple adoption and a ninth child.
