The Battle Mage
Noelle woke with a start, putting her back to a corner despite how the wounds on her back pulled and lit like fire. She had a wand in one hand and a knife in the other. Searching the room for threats, she swore a blue streak that would have made her mother scourgify her mouth, battle mage or no. She did a quick tempus spell, figuring it was early morning the next day.
"Noelle?" a slightly nervous, but firm voice asked, and she zeroed in on the witch.
"Andy," she said with a groan, "Is Hadrian okay? Where's the file?"
"Hadrian's fine. He just went to sleep a couple of hours ago after exhausting himself crying for hours. I had to give him a calming draught, but he's okay. You, on the other hand, drained most of your magical core, and something clawed your back to shreds. I managed to close the wounds and force some blood and magic replenishers into you, but it was pretty close, Noelle," Andromeda warned her.
"At least I landed on the ugliest carpet the Blacks own," she chuckled, leaning her head back with a sigh. She got to her feet, clearing the dizziness from her head, and walked into the bathroom without care for the fact that she was bare from the waist up except for her wand holsters and was only wearing knickers. Ignoring her tattoos, four bloody red gouges were scarred from beneath her left shoulder and down her ribs, and the other four sliced across her right hip and down the back of her thigh to just above her right knee.
She snatched up the discarded uniform and with a nifty spell fixed the tears in the back, pulling it on with a slight wince. She could imagine what Sirius would say if he were here – 'Seven hells, love, if you continue like this, you'll be able to give ol' Moody a run for his money with your battle scars.' Gods, she missed him, and hid a pang of loss and loneliness behind her purposeful mask.
"The file, Andy?"
The Healer shrugged, looking like she wanted to protest Noelle moving just yet, but knowing it was a losing battle, "Arcturus, most likely."
A gyrfalcon Patronus flew before them both and said, "Family meeting now. Do everything you can to make sure Noelle's up for it."
