Chapter 18 - The Pants Problem
(7:19pm)
Doghouse Lanes was the local bowling alley that accomodated families and, more recently, the brand-new Middleton High bowling team. It was about 5 blocks from the school. It had 24 lanes, arcade games, a bowling pro shop, an alcoholic bar for those bowlers 21 and up, and a snack bar on the premises. The Possibles commonly went there to bowl on the weekends, sometimes with Ron.
On this night, they brought Monique along as well.
Ron and the Tweebs kept their same outfits. Kim and Monique made no changes to their overalls. James was wearing a button-down shirt and jeans. Ann, meanwhile, was wearing her Blue Star overalls with the left strap hooked and right strap undone over her red bowling shirt. The bib was flopping partially on the right side. She tucked in the undone strap so that it would not fly around.
Everyone was in bowling shoes, even Rufus, whom had a bowling shirt on.
They were in the middle of the fourth frame with Rufus in the lead, followed by Monique, Kim, James, Ann, Jim & Tim, and at dead last, Ron. This was not uncommon for Ron to score gutterballs.
"Aw man...another gutterball..." Ron bitterly complained as his bowling ball, once again, went into the gutter failing to hit any pins. "I wish if I would've asked for the bumpers!"
"Sorry, Ronald." James apologized, "But that was my decision. Looks like it's my move next!" He grabbed his own bowling ball and released it. It knocked down 8 of the pins.
"I still got it!" he exclaimed.
Ann then asked. "So Ron, what convinced you to buy CB overalls for the Utah trip?"
"Wanna take a wild guess, MrsDrP?" Ron questioned, sitting down on a chair.
"The Pants Problem?" Ann guessed.
Ron stood up...and then heard a rip from behind.
"The Pants Problem..." he affirmed his answer to Ann.
"I think it would be a good look for him, Mom...just as long as he doesn't let it go to his head." Kim said.
"I promise that I will not, Kim!" Ron vowed.
"Hey, I think you would look very hip in the ovies!" Monique exclaimed, putting her hands in the pockets of her overalls.
"As long as you keep both straps on...which we are doing right now." Kim replied, "Or go with what Mom is doing with the 90s route. And NOT what Bon-Bon is styling..."
Monique nodded her head.
"Yeah, the Ron-ster now has a sense of flow that he likes!" Ron exclaimed.
Kim then looked at the screen. Rufus had been bowling all strikes to that point.
Her eyes went back to her boyfriend.
"So, KP..." Ron said, moving to another topic, "...is Wade gonna do the down-low on all five parks to see which ones are the most romantic for a photo-op?"
"I am very sure Wade has a layout on all of them." Kim insisted, "Do not forget that he has the whole world wired!"
Turning to her father, she then asked, "Dad, what time are we leaving?"
James replied, "Since we need to hitch the small trailer to accomodate the outfits for both Larry and Joss, we are going to leave at roughly 7:30am, so I want everyone to be ready by then."
He then turned to Ron.
"This goes for Ronald as well!"
"Don't worry, MrDrP! I will be up and early."
"You'd better." James warned him.
"Dad, he will be better on the timing thing, not like what happened last year on our trip to Yosemenite Park..." Kim said, glaring at Ron.
"Don't blame me for that one, KP, blame my alarm clock!" Ron whined.

Little did they know that, a couple over, Genna and Richard were overhearing their conversation while bowling.
"Did you hear that?" Richard asked quietly his girlfriend.
"Doy, yes. Every word of it." Genna whispered.
"You going to send a text?" he then asked.
"What else do you think I'm doing?" she asked in reply as she got out her flip-phone.
Genna texted the following to Bonnie.
The Possibles are leaving tomorrow at 7:30am.
Bonnie texted back a couple minutes later.
Good. I want you two to put the tracker that Rebecca's science people or whatever made on their trailer.
Genna then texted.
When can we do that?
Bonnie then replied back.
Tonight, when all of the Possibles are asleep. Put it on the undercarriage of the trailer so that they won't see it!
Genna replied.
We'll do it!
