Chapter 27 - Day 1: The Babysitting Larry Mission
(5 minutes earlier)
June, Ron, and the rest of the Possible family assembled downstairs.
The hooked strap of Ann's overalls was about to slip off her shoulder as she drank a cup of coffee that June made.
"So your daughter just became a couple?" June asked to Ron.
"That's correct!" Ron replied, "She is just the bon-diggiest girlfriend ever!"
"You'll have to forgive me!" June laughed a little, "I am not fluent in teen speak."
"That means she's the perfect girlfriend for Ronald here." James replied with the translation.
"Yep, and we are happy for the both of them!" Ann added as the overalls strap fell off her shoulder and the bib curled.
"When is Aunt May and Uncle Thomas going to be..." Jim asked.
Tim finished the question, "... coming for lunch?"
"She should be here in about an hour." June replied, looking at her watch "Which is about quarter after noon."
The Tweebs then came to a dreaded realization, their jaws dropping.
"Then that means Cousin Terry is going to be here." Tim muttered.
"She is dorkier and nerdier than Larry!" Jim whined.
James looked at his sons sternly, "Jim! Tim! What have I said before?"
"Sounds awesome to me!" Ann replied, pulling the overalls strap back up on her shoulder.
"Anyways, the other reason why you're here is..." June began but then asked a question, "Well, you're going to Utah for vacation, right?"
"That is affirmative!" James proudly beamed, "Me and Ann are celebrating 20 years since we first proposed."
"Ahhh...very nice way to celebrate such a milestone!" June said with a smile.
James continued, "We thought it would be perfect to hold our family vacation there. Though we're both going to celebrate the 'official' 20th wedding anniversary with a vacation to Hawaii where we'll renew our vows!"
"Just the two of us...you and I!" Ann snickered as the two Possible parents gave each other a kiss.
"That's very romantic of you two!" June said.
If only Bob could've been as romantic as those two, he wouldn't have divorced me, the damn idiot.
"So what were you saying about the other reason?" James asked, getting back to the topic at hand.
"Ah yes, the Salt Lake City comic con that he has bugged me about for the past three weeks!" June replied, "I can't go to it because A) my left foot got injured, tearing my ACL and B) I needed someone to help protect my Larry at the comic-con!"
"Do not worry about a thing, June! My Kimmie-cub will make sure that no one lays a hand on him!" James insisted.
"And I'll be right there as backup for KP since I am, you know, the sidekick/distraction!" Ron exclaimed.
June said, "Then that will not be a problem. Since I heard that she is a very skilled babysitter, and since she is family, she would be the perfect person to watch my Larry-cherry!"
"Mom, please do not call me that!" Larry whined from upstairs. "I am 18, OK!"
"But I called you that ever since you were eight months old!" June added.
At that moment, Kim came downstairs with a wide-eyed look on her face.
"Uh, KP? What's with the look on your face?" Ron asked.
"I'm going out...for some air, Ron!" Kim replied in a monotone voice, unable to process of what Larry had said. She slid the sliding door open that connected the den to the backyard
"Okay, did some zombie brain-sucking leech parasite thing get Kim or what?" Ron asked.
"I dunno, Ron." Jim replied.
"She is opening her mouth about something..." Tim added, pointing to his sister who seemed to be screaming at the top of her lungs, but he could not tell due to the sliding door being soundproof.
"I can obviously tell from that open mouth that she is frustrated!" Ron said, analyzing his girlfriend's facial reactions.
"How can you even tell?" June questioned at Ron's talent.
Kim then sat on the patio deck stairs.
"Known her since Pre-K." Ron explained. "I'll go outside and see what's up."
Ron opened the sliding door. Kim was taking deep breaths to recover the hoarseness in her voice from that scream
"Heya, KP! Something bothering ya?" he asked to his girlfriend.
"My bothersomeness levels have really reached critical max, Ron!" Kim exclaimed, "Larry wants me to escort him in that convention center...alone!"
"W-w-what?!" Ron stammered.
Kim continued "Yeah! It is so going to be awk-weird with thousands of single...umm...I want to avoid the g-word with the glasses and pocket protectors."
"Let's just say single smart guys." Ron suggested.
"Exactly, Ron. I don't want thousands of smart guys to look at me as if I am the only girl at the comic-con."
"I'm pretty sure that there are some girls that are into science fiction, anime, and fantasy stuff." Ron replied.
"On the one hand, I want to avoid comic-cons like the plague 'cause that stuff's not for me..." Kim sighed, "...but on the other, I cannot back out of the commitment to Aunt June to watch over Larry for the vacation!"
"Why don't we talk with Larry and see what he says?" Ron asked.
"That's a good idea, Ron!" Kim replied as she stood up.
The couple headed back inside the house.
