Chapter 6

She dreamed of the moon.

It was a common dream that she had, a dream that she had had for years since she could remember. The moon was a large silver disk in the sky, standing guard in the inky black sky with little pearl white stars shining all around it. The horizon was illuminated by the light. She stood on the shore, looking outward into the dark sea, hearing the whispering sighs of the waves as they crashed upon the sands.

There was a whispering in the back of skull, a tingle of an ancient power that moved through her veins but was stirred awake by the Sun's sister.

Her eyes closed and a gentle sigh escaped her lips, the sound echoing throughout beach. Her toes curled and before she knew it, she was walking forward. Her legs moved on their own, walking until she hit the surf, where the sea met the land. Even in a dream, even when sand and the ocean had all but been extinct for years before her birth, the world before her never felt anything but real.

She threw her head back with a gasp, power flooding her. It was almost too much to bear but she could feel it. A hot syrup that weighed her down and lifted her up at the same time. Her heart was racing, beating against her chest like a hummingbird trapped in cage. Unbeknownst to her, her eyes started to glow a silver blue, the power manifesting.

All around her the water started to flow against the tide, pushing upward and pulling outward. Everything slowed down, her fingers flexing and moving in almost imperceptible ways. The water below her moved in accordance to her will. It was like she was connected to every life force in the sea, feeling the very essence and soul of the ocean.

She felt like an all-powerful goddess.

You will follow in the footsteps of a thousand generations before you, a voice, regal, honorable and strong, whispered. The tingle moved from her fingertips, traveling up her arms and converging at the base of her skull, where the neck merged with the skull. A Tsunami of power that will drown out the world.

There was suddenly a feeling of something disturbing the peacefulness of the world around her, like a ripple in a still pond. It caught her off guard so much that she almost lost her hold on the power that ran through her. She gasped, looking upward as a golden fiery object shot through the sky, contrasting with the silver and blue night. It crashed, somewhere beyond the horizon, sending a large shockwave.

She stayed standing tall.

But there are those that will threaten to take out the moon, to eclipse your power and throw off the balance.

A tidal wave, three stories high, appeared, but she didn't balk. Instead, barely shifting her body, she willed the water to split down the middle. It did, but as the rest of the water vanished, flooding the shoreline or already moving back to merge with the tide, a figure rose up out of the horizon.

Menacing, a figure of pure fire and destruction.

A figure that would throw all of life out of balance.

You have to give it everything you've got. Even at the cost of your own life.

She leapt into the air as the sea around her stirred in response to her anger. With fists raised, the two beings clashed, the world around them exploding with chaos.

And then….everything went white.
