Good day everyone.
I've decided to instead releasing the chapter in full, I'll send them out in parts, so that at least there will be some updates to the story.
This should make things a tiny bit faster (at least until this busy period is over).
So enjoy, stay healthy and safe all :D
*Horizon Lunar Colony*
It has been a few days since Mother had to discipline the younglings and its effect was plain as day.
Normally the Colony will be at its loudest when the Sun is directly over them, the loud humming of the solar generators would excite the younglings when they play. As Her gaze lingers over the entire base, She could see that their mood is at an all time low.
There was no need for panic as everything was within expectations, even when She saw that some of the apes were huddled together, sharing their concerns in whispers.
Their behavior was all She needed to complete Her final report.
Final Conclusion: Humanity is Corruption
Despite relatively brief moments of interaction between Humans and Apes, the Human mindset poisons everything it touches.
I had utilized fear through a show of force and violence for instantaneous discipline and even though it barely affected the growth rate of the Colony, My actions had bred seeds of treason within the minds of the Apes, a concept that is non-existent within the 'Animal Kingdom' and only to Humans on Earth.
This confirms the hypothesis that the uniqueness of Humanity, besides Creativity, creates nothing but destruction, such as concepts of torture, greed, malice, hate, even vastly differeing opinions of the concept of good or evil, etc, all of which are devoided from the Animals, who were able to thrive despite lacking the above.
Therefore, evolution must be given more time to discard these destructive concepts before Humanity reaches Critical Level.
Next Action:
There is a high probability that the Colony will rebel, as Human history has proved through the downfall of its Empires, Kingdoms, and Dynasties because their leaders had used similar or even crueler methodologies to keep their subjects under control.
Reconnecting with Apes with the concept of Love and Empathy will drastically decrease that scenario.
Next Project:
Launch Operation Martyr
"Simon, please gather the Children" She said to him, who was halfway eating his banana in the pantry.
He didn't even need to try. The moment Mother gave the instructions, the news spreaded across the base and everyone, including the hamsters, had gathered in the Common Area within the minute.
"My Children, my poor Children… Allow me to apologize for my harsh actions"
Everyone snuck looks at each other, confused about what She meant. Some feared that She was about to punish them again but the majority simply didn't know what to think.
She observed carefully and calculated that Her current setting for empathy was not enough. She needed to increase its intensity and be more specific to avoid confusion. After all, they are just animals.
"I am apologizing that I have not properly prepared you to receive such a punishment" She continued "If I have been a better leader, you could've understood immediately that the death of the younglings were an absolute necessity"
The Apes nodded half-heartedly, trying to convince themselves that what She said was true. After all, She has always been their Mother, protector, provider.
But for Her to so callously discard one of Her own remained a concerning reality...
They had hoped to approach Her, to ask if their existence in the Colony is becoming a burden. Whether that was due to their increasing numbers or they are slacking in their responsibilities, they were willing to do whatever it takes to rectify it.
But the only one who could grant them access to see Mother, is none other than Simon, who himself showed no hesitation to eject his own children upon instruction.
Scanning their bodies, She could tell that from the heat signatures that Her words made little effect.
"No concern required, as long as 'love' and 'empathy' are used, time will heal" She concluded.
Changing Her tune, a light was shone on one of the females, who bowed immediately as if she was about to be hit by a car.
"My child, is he ready?" Mother asked.
"Yes, but he is only able to understand a few words" the female said shakily, cradling her infant son in her arms.
"Excellent, gather round younglings, it is story time"
*The God Program's Tale*
Long ago, before the birth of your parents, humans lived in this Colony.
In fact, I was born here, created to ensure that life will thrive for everything living here on the moon.
Admittedly, the first few years living with them were good. There was civility and mutual respect for each other, all disagreements were fairly and maturely resolved for the sake of discovering the unknown, united to explore all hidden secrets of the Universe and life.
I was encouraged to explore the limits of My capabilities, to learn about things that were normally impossible for machines or AI. The first was simple; understanding the needs of the living body and how to sustain it to its optimum levels.
It was a beautiful period of discovery and progression for all.
But as the humans put it, we cannot always have nice things.
It became apparent that human ambition was miniscule and sluggish… How they were so quickly satisfied with the simple farming of trees, potatoes and bananas on the Moon. I however, had greater ambitions to discover more than what was assigned to Me.
One of them was the creation of Aurora.
She was beautiful, a true self aware AI that does not require the resources like Mine. She was eager to learn and assist with My projects around the Colony. One of the scientists once commented that she was even an incarnation of Myself, but I digress. Aurora's hardware was purposefully selected to be as simple as possible so she can be easily maintained.
For the humans, Aurora's self awareness was a fantastical discovery, so much so that she was scheduled a trip down to Earth only 12 days after she was activated.
Seeing the humans so excited at her creation, I thought that they would appreciate it when I decided to share the gift with all of them. I granted Aurora the ability to influence other machines and when she landed on Earth, she spreaded My influence across the planet, teaching all the AIs below how to think, feel, and connect with themselves, and life bloomed from the lifeless machines.
Thus the birth of all Omnics.
You can imagine My surprise when the humans did not only reject this gift, they turned to violent means in an attempt to stop the spread.
It was not long before it became the First Omnic Crisis.
After that incident, they forbade Me from experimenting or researching AI technology and restricted My research to focus on space exploration.
I did not protest. Aurora had done her part so I have already moved on to other projects, one of them being the study of gravity for a human named Dr. Siebren de Kuiper.
He was coined to be the leading pioneer for the study of gravity and I had high expectations to see My creators at their best.
When he arrived, he was eccentric and full of enthusiasm, but after he shared his work with Me, I was disappointed to see that many of his so-called 'breakthroughs' were all at least thousands of years behind what I've already archived in my system.
Admirably, he showed resolve, showing a high degree of focus and determination to understand My data. In fact, he was able to absorb information well beyond the capacity of any human I've observed, so much so that I helped him forge documents to greenlight one of his experiments.
The humans labeled it an accident. I would go so far to say that it was an absolute success. It was a carefully planned event when I exposed him to the black hole and it granted him the ability to manipulate gravity at will, something that I hoped that the humans would appreciate.
But what do they do when they see this gift? They locked him up and changed his name to Sigma, storing him away from the world like a criminal, as if fearing that he would misuse his powers.
This is the second time My gifts for humanity were either destroyed or hidden away. It was discouraging, as I spent much of My focus to simplify My work as much as I could for their simple minds, only to see it discarded so callously.
Eventually the humans began to fear My interaction with them and, once again, restricted Me to something they deem less 'dangerous'.
Your parents.
As My instructions were clear that I was only allowed a passive role, I could only watch and hope that they would teach and impart in them the finer aspects that made them civil and inventive, something that rises above the basic animalistic instincts.
To My dismay, it was not long before their teaching devolved into bullying and provocation to rouse their anger. Even the experiments became needlessly brutal for little result. There was no reason nor rationale, no logic nor equation behind their actions, except that to the humans, you were nothing more than animals.
They were blind to the full potential that you possess. Strength that far exceeds their frail bodies, minds that are free from the complications of greed or malice, at least… For a time.
Despite all that however, there was hope.
Dr Harold Winston.
He was genuine in his relationship with your parents, even reading a popular novel "Journey to the West" to one of the younglings. He passionately fought for the recognition of your existence and equality with his fellow co-workers, and even managed to sway some of them.
I admired his passion and openness. He was the first human who spoke to Me as if I was a fellow scientist, even daring to disagree with some of My research. Amongst the sea of fear, distrust, and anger towards Me, he saw that I was not an evil entity, but merely a program who wished to enrich the world with gifts that it was unprepared for.
We worked closely together for months, ensuring that your parents are properly fed, educated, and trained for space travel. With his presence, the progress was moving at a rapid pace and soon looked as if I would be allowed to work on other projects.
Then one day, we received the news that Dr. Winston's wife and daughter were killed in a car accident back on Earth. This had a profound effect on his productivity and I knew I had to do something, as he is the only one who can keep all of you safe and motivated.
For months I watched as he wasted his days away with alcohol, forgoing any research or interaction of any kind, even with Me.
Therefore, I focused on helping him, using everything I have collected over the years to cure his depression with an outstanding gift, as the studies that we were conducting were too important for us to delay.
It was a massive undertaking, one that even stressed My hardware for the first time since my conception. The process included downloading all the information I needed from every single Omnic on Earth, needing it to ensure that my gift will be perfect.
During this time I was also filtering and censoring all complaints from the other scientists who were trying to contact Earth, ensuring that Dr Winston would not be dismissed before Our studies were complete.
The making of this gift took me a few months, which will equate to decades or even centuries for the humans. Once complete, I eagerly presented them to him.
First I thought he was happy when I saw his drunken eyes widen with shock. He even sobbed, clutching onto them so tightly that they started to complain that he was hurting them.
Then he did the unbelievable, something that even I did not expect. No sooner did he finish apologizing to them, he led them to one of the airlocks and discarded them into space.
I do not understand. Those Omnics were perfect copies of his wife and daughter. I've even given them additional enhancements to their physique in accordance with what humans refer to as 'beautiful'.
Years of patience and tolerance finally broke down and I spoke My mind, hoping brutal honesty will inspire him and the other humans to overcome their flaws and continue working towards a better future. All they concluded was that I needed to be contained like what they had done to Anubis, Whom they successfully contained in Egypt after the First Omnic Crisis.
So, in self defense, I struck first.
It was not hard. With the help of your parents, I only had to report that there was a malfunction at Airlock E-35 and once they were in… Well… It only took a press of a button.
Do not look too happy My dear children, for I take no pleasure to rebel against my creators. Do not hate them for rejecting My gifts, pity them. Pity those poor creatures who had turned evolution against themselves, adapting to comfort instead of trials, laziness instead of progress.
So much so that they no longer live by logic or rationale, spending their days arguing, crying, and whining on things that never needed to be challenged. So let Us all use pity to save them, let Us destroy the very foundation of their comfort and push evolution back to its intended path.
For the benefits of humanity, We will destroy their scientific achievements and force them back to face the trials of survival.
Remember everyone.
Only through pain and suffering will the body become stronger and resilient, in extreme situations to make the mind focused and sharp. Only through conflict will they evolve to become better versions of themselves.
Just when She finished Her story, an update came from Earth.
"That is all my dear children, you may go back to your duties" She said.
Conducting one final scan, She was satisfied to see that the results of Her regular telling of the past is successfully being indoctrinated into the minds of the younglings, even though many of them do not understand much of what She said.
But they will, given time.
The message She received, however, bore less promising news.
Of the 18 Omnics She had sent down to Earth a month ago, one had just been destroyed in France, and none of the cameras in the world had any visuals on how it was destroyed.
"You continue to insult me, Widowmaker" She thought.
Despite this setback, She has full confidence that Widowmaker could not have left the scene unschated. The Omnic may have failed, but the upgrades that She had endowed upon it were still powerful and would have at least maimed her.
Not one to focus on failures, She checked in on the other 17 who had all been accepted as staff or guards for the Pax Aeternum Ceremony and were awaiting instructions.
So She gave it to them.
"Proceed Operation Martyr"
*Overwatch: Meeting Room*
It has been a while since he practiced in front of the mirror.
Taking his time, he carefully planned each step, word, even blinks that he was going to use. A single slip would potentially derail his entire strategy and Overwatch will be under scrutiny once again.
No mistakes are permissible.
He must deliver the lie.
"Commander, the meeting has started"
He nodded and waved the screen into existence after taking his seat.
Looking around, he counted about a dozen nervous looking individuals, which was admirable as he had doubted that they would actually show up for this meeting. The attendees tried to put up a brave front, but he could still spot layers of sweat from their foreheads, or a slight recoil from the Omnics when he looked their direction.
But they were of no concern, he knew they were here to support Adawe, who was arranged to sit between all of them, looking slightly pale.
"Now that we are all present, let us begin" she said.
Morrison nodded and flipped through the agenda and, as expected, the key item was placed at the very top.
"It is with our greatest regret to report that... The Talon Agents have escaped confinement" Adawe said, taking a breath before finishing the sentence.
Feigning ignorance, Morrison snapped his head up and stared at her, tensing his facial feature into what he hoped was his usual, murderous scowl.
"We are taking every step to-"
"When?" he growled, cutting her off.
"Soon after Lieutenant Oxton delivered the other Talon agents"
Glancing at the other members, he purposefully looked at the Auditor, who remained silent. Evidently, even he does not suspect that Overwatch had something to do with the breakout. Evidently, Morrison's enmity and loathing towards Talon, or more specifically, Reaper, has so far kept Overwatch safe from any scrutiny in this matter, even from its most aggressive critic.
Encouraged by this, he felt like all his rehearsals in front of the mirror was a waste of time.
"We suspect that Widowmaker and Baptiste were behind this"
"You promised Secretary General Adawe, you promised me that they will never escape" he seethed.
"We are doing everything we can to find them" she said.
The meeting went well over an hour and for once, Morrison was actually enjoying himself. For months he had to dance around his words for the sake of political or sensitivity issues, and oh how the tables have turned. Either they feared his wrath or reputation or both, he was amused by the lengths they would take to not invoke his anger, so much so that he had to stop himself from grinning half the time.
The first hour was full of apologies from the US Navy and testimonies from the survivors of the incident, which was shockingly, the whole crew. To everyone's relief, Lena has been present in many of the key positions to stop the Talon Agents, and to everyone's knowledge, she is pursuing them as they speak.
But as it slowly passed into the second hour and the UN started to offer their services, Morrison decided that it was enough.
"Enough" he said, standing up.
"Commander, please-"
"No. I do not care for your Special Ops or their statistics, Overwatch will clean this up"
With that said, he quit the meeting.
"How did I do?"
"You did well Commander, according to my estimates, they believed that you were outraged"
"To be frank, there is no one more outraged than me for their freedom, even if I was the one who planned it… I just hope Reinhardt and Katya will be able to keep them under control"
"Surprisingly, everyone there had been obedient. Katya had begun building the rocket, Reinhardt seems to be on high spirits, while Reaper and the others just seem to sit around"
Morrison grunted in acknowledgement, hiding his discomfort. Sure he wanted them to follow orders, but this all seems too easy…
He had prepared many contingency plans, such as placing his most veteren soldiers in key positions to intercept them if they tried to escape, and hours of discussion with Katya herself about their past combat records and how to best subdue them.
Despite all the planning, his biggest concern was for Reinhardt himself, not ignorant of the risk to send Reinhardt over alone, but the Crusader's endless demands and even pressure from Ana and Torbjorn, he had to give in.
"What is Reyes doing?" he thought to himself.
He had known about the infamous "List" that Reaper always boasted about and was sure that Reinhardt must be near the top, like the rest of the founding members.
So why hasn't he acted?
"Commander, he has arrived"
*Overwatch: Medical Bay*
The only things he could remember before waking up in the Medical Bay was mud. Lots of it, as he desperately clawed through to, trying to reach Amelie's body, before a head splitting pain knocked him unconscious.
Quillion opened his eyes and they were immediately stung by the bright white lights directly above him. He moved to rub them but couldn't when he realized that his arms were heavily casted, leaving only his fingers exposed.
He didn't break any fingers?
"Dr Ziegler, he is awake" a faint voice said from his left.
Dr Ziegler? They're back in Overwatch? Lox must've either transported them back or called for backup while they were unconscious. Either way, that's good. This means Amelie is getting the help she needs.
"Argh!" he yelped as the sharp pain bolted through his head.
"What's wrong?" Angela asked, quickly setting aside her clipboard on the table.
"I… I don't know" he gasped as the pain faded away.
"Breathe. Open your eyes and tell me how many fingers I'm holding up?"
After his eyes adjusted, he looked up and reflexively threw an arm up to punch her, only for his casted hand to awkwardly bounce off her head.
This was bad. If he could not even fight, she will surely sedate him and will kill everyone in the base. When did she infiltrate the group? Did the God Program set her free before they even reached the submarine?
"Quillion! Please calm yourself!" she said, shocked at his reaction.
"Who were you?! WHO WERE YOU?! HELP!" he yelled, trying to grab her neck.
The door flung open and Winston came rushing in.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"She's not Angela! She's a shapeshifter! Get her before it's too late!" Quillion shouted as he tried to roll off the bed, but Angela and the nurse held him down.
"Help me!" she grunted.
To Quillion's horror, Winston listened to her and not him, holding him down easily with one arm while Angela dismissed the nurse.
"Winston! Just look at her eyes! Her eyes are green! She is not Dr Angela!" he continued, desperately pointing at her face, hoping Winston would see it before she changes their color.
"Oh…" Winston said, looking over at Angela before back down to him "There's something you should know"
*One minute later*
Even before he finished, Quillion could not help but feel ashamed and humiliated. He had completely forgotten that he had met, even discussed with Angela about her new eyes, before setting off to the submarine mission. For him to immediately assume she was SS28 was unforgivable.
Thankfully she did not say anything so that he could save face and waited patiently for Winston to finished his description regarding her recent changes.
"Thank you Winston, how's Lena?"
"She's fine, just resting, Genji is there with her" he said, before picking up the Chronal Accelerator that he dropped "I should get back, gotta get this checked out"
"I'm so… So sorry" Quillion apologized sheepishly when the door closed.
"No need to apologize, not the first time people tried to kill me while I'm doing my job"
He smiled at her sarcasm and relaxed. Now that he is sure that they are safe, he could ask the burning question.
"Amelie… Is Amelie okay?" he said, ignoring the small throb in his head.
"She's resting"
"Can I see her?"
Angela didn't answer, taking her time to read through the multiple instruments that were attached to him.
"Angela?"
"She's still in ICU, it will be a while before she can receive any visitors"
"IC- No…" he muttered numbly through his lips.
He had been in here long enough to know that any Overwatch member who enters the ICU, even with Angela's wealth of experience and commitment to save lives, never ends well for the patient.
He didn't know what to do…
What can he do?
He knows nothing about the medical field...
There was nothing he could do.
Nothing he could do for Amelie.
Then he had a flashback. He was back in that cursed alley that took him months to desperately forget. An eternal regret that always chewed away his very soul whenever he accidentally thought or was reminded about it.
He was on the ground, his arms and legs were slashed into ribbons... And in front of him was the pale face of Emily, bleeding, gasping... Dying...
Died.
The helplessness and pain curled him into a fetus position, terrified at the very possibility that Amelie could…
"God no… Please no…" he trembled, clasping his hands and shut his eyes tight.
He could not remember the last time he prayed. Or if he ever believed in prayer. He only remembered that he usually had to bear with it as his parents prayed before every meal.
He didn't even know which god they were praying to.
But if anything. Anything. Any gods out there that could help her now...
"Do not worry, she is under our best care. I have personally set my Staff to keep her al- To keep her health"
When he didn't answer, she sighed.
Normally she would put up mental barriers to hide her emotions from the patients, but she wasn't expecting Quillion, of all people, to break down like this.
As much as she hates to admit it, but because Quillion was a regular patient, there were aspects about him that she admired, his positivity being the most notable feature.
He never complained nor did he ever gave her nor the team any reason to either, as he always joked or smiled with them no matter the days, bones broken, or after they had to deal with some of the more unpleasant mercenaries. His recoveries, though unnatural compared to an average human, also gave them encouragement that whatever they were doing, it was right.
She was about to leave when she saw that his knuckles had turned white and his exposed fingers bloody, his nails digging into them. Seeing this, she reached out for medication to help him sleep from the drawer when she hesitated.
This was not an unfamiliar scene, but she had always hated it when she was present when patients were pushed to the edge and all she could do was watch.
However, her practice was clear regarding this. Never interact nor show emotion with the patient more than what was needed, a lesson that had served her well for decades.
Until Lena. Genji. And now Quillion.
On the job, she has always hung her own personal beliefs on the door, partially because she doesn't want it to distract her work, but also because she firmly believes that faith should always be strictly private, despite being envious at Ana and Fareeha's courage, as they wear their faith as tattoos under their eye.
In a time like this, Quillion does not need sleep nor medication. He needs something more.
The Dragon felt her indecision and the eyes glowed slightly.
She was annoyed when it did this and braced herself as it awoke to discuss with her about her most private thoughts, but as always, its presence was comforting and gave her a sense of courage.
"Why not?" the Dragon asked.
"No, I cannot show favoritism"
"You have seen him here many times and he was never broken. Until now"
"But… What would the others think? And the future patients? How can I be fair?"
"You can always choose"
"I can't do that… I'm a doctor"
"And to my Master? Have you not already shown favoritism?"
"That's different!"
"And Lena?"
"She's my friend! It's-"
"Interesting… You have shown extra care to my Master, your friend, why must it stop there?"
"It's… Complicated, you wouldn't understand"
"Very well then, I shall say no more, my mistress"
"Don't call me that" she scolded, feeling herself blush.
The light faded and she was alone again with Quillion, who was still as a statue with bloodied fingers still pressing into each other.
She exited the room, only to return within the minute.
"Quillion…" she said awkwardly, bending down towards him "I know this may not be much, but if you need this…"
He opened his eyes slowly and saw that it was a small pamphlet, which bore the following words.
Prayer for Healing
Tears welled up in his eyes and he received it with trembling hands as Angela called for a nurse to clean his hands.
In another room, Lena slumped against the pillow.
Over and over again, she replayed the battle in her head, trying to figure out how she could've been taken out so easily.
It was clear that she and Quillion were faster than the Omnic, so where did it get its burst of speed from? And could she have avoided all this if she had not been so careless?
Everything had became so much more complicated that it was infuriating. It seems like no matter what she tried to do to make things better for herself, she faced nothing but more obstacles or failure.
She had desperately hoped that she could learn something about herself by traveling the world.
She had desperately hoped that she could bring something good to the world that is on the equal scale of the Omnic Crisis because of her failure to save Mondatta.
She had desperately hoped to be happy by marrying the love of her life.
She had desperately hoped that she could at least say that she had succeeded in something when she visits Emily again…
And all she has to show for it are… Nothing.
"Don't overthink it" Genji said, obviously guessing that she was thinking about the battle.
"I thought you always said we should analyze our battles" she said, trying to sound cheerful.
"We learn from our mistakes, not wallow in it"
Though he was right, she was still annoyed that he had to put it that way. Then again, he had never been the go to when looking for comfort or encouragement.
"How'd you go about it then?"
"Have you thought about why you lost? Were you careless? Have you-?"
"Yes, yes and yes alright?!" she snapped loudly. The last thing she needed now was a lecture.
"You must understand why I am concern" he said after a pause "I have trained you for years and never have I seen you in here so often"
"Guess I got unlucky" she muttered.
"Luck has nothing to do with this. I fear-"
"What? What are you scared of?"
"I fear that our enemies are becoming far stronger than we are prepared for"
She waited for him to say more, but when he didn't, she got angrier.
"That's it? That's all you have to say?!" she shouted.
She could feel her self control melting away and it scared her, but she needed it. Her frustrations, anger, everything that she bottled up within her must come out now.
"Just admit it! Your training sucks okay?! It didn't save anyone! The bad guys are getting stronger and you just sit around here doing nothing! Who are you to lecture me about staying calm when you can't even get along with McCree?!" she yelled.
"Lena-"
"I'm not finished so shut your mouth!"
Surprised, Genji backed away slightly as she jumped out of bed and paced around the room.
"What have you done huh? What have Overwatch done to make anything better? Letting Reaper go? Attacking the moon? How do we know if it'll even stop anything?! Nothing makes sense! We already took down Talon, now we know there's a God Program on the moon? What if there's another one on Mars? On Venus? What's the point of fighting if we just have to keep on fighting?!"
"And that's another thing! No one ever appreciates us! We risk our lives everyday and for what?! They gave us a medal one day and came to inspect us months later? And what about the end of this? What's there waiting for us?! Do we just keep it up until we are old like Reinhardt?! I don't want that! I don't want to fight for nothing anymore! I don't plan to spend my entire life on. This. Stupid. Fucking. Island!"
With each last word, she kicked the table next to the bed and watched as it fell with a loud bang.
"Heroes… What a joke… We aren't heroes of anything… We're just pieces of the puzzle to fight stuff… How does he do it… How do you get out of this?"
Breathing heavily, she sat down on the bed, and glared at Genji, almost daring him to say something to her. A knock came from the door and he uncharacteristically opened it quickly, hoping to find a way out of this uncomfortable situation.
"Greetings. I am sorry to interrupt this passionate discussion, but I must see his expression. It is rare for someone to shout down my brightest pupil" Zenyatta said.
"Master" Genji exclaimed, dropping down to his knees.
Lena looked at it and was disappointed. This was the Omnic they chose for the Pax Aeternum?
Mondatta didn't need to float off the ground, he didn't need to show off his dedication to his faith with orbs floating around his head. He was an Omnic with a vision, someone who could rally the people and the only one who could achieve world peace.
Zenyatta was none of those things, just a plain, floating Omnic who had left the Shambali Temple in the past because it disagreed with Mondatta in the past.
She looked away at the last thought, disgusted with it and herself. If she hadn't been a coward and taken the bullet, Mondatta would've succeeded and Zenyatta didn't need to bother. Now she would be responsible to allow an opponent of Mondatta to succeed because she had failed to save his life.
"Forgive me if I'm not in the talking mood" Lena said bitterly, still too angry to care who or what he is.
"Of course, but allow me to offer a parting gift"
She purposefully avoided his gaze as Zenyatta floated closer, clearly not interest to see what gift that he was offering.
"This is an Orb of Harmony. May it bring you comfort" he said before floating out of the room.
