Chapter Five: We are in Mossdeep Trouble
Disclaimer: If I owned Pokemon, Marnie would get more screen time than Hop
(A/N: Okay so I made some mistakes like 6/7 years ago when I wrote this, since I'm trying to do the story in the Dexholder universe, Dawn is actually Platina. I'll be calling her as such going forward, my bad. This means that she's also a lot stronger than a measly Piplup so I'm retconning her new trainer status. I'll still keep some Dawn traits in the character since I recognize Dawn more than Platina character-wise. Rosa/Mei's official name in pokespe is Whitley (which wasn't out when I was writing before tbf) but I'm sticking with Rosa/Mei just because it sounds prettier). New rules going forward, bolded single word names denote change in POV, and pokemon talk will be in [ ]'s. I've been debating on using sans, chans, kuns and the like but I'm not sure if it'd fit in this kind of fanfic so let me know if you have an opinion on it in the reviews. There's a moderate probability I'll edit this chapter because my style has probably changed which might be jarring for readers. Please enjoy!)

The intense opposing force of the hydro cannon and pump caused the entire ship to creak and groan as it was being compressed between the incredible forces of water pressure and gravity, our ship was long past terminal velocity.
Thankfully, due to the terrorist actions of Team Rocket during my Kanto journeying days, the whole hull of the ship was reinforced with pokemon-grade steel to make it resistant against future attacks. This meant that this absurd series of events wasn't completely doomed from the start, for me and the new partners I had gained along the way.
Currently, Blasty and Milo were braced against the pillars of the smokestacks on the ship and were firing their attacks at a 30 degree angle. I yelled at the other paralyzed trainers, who were on the deck of the ship trying to see what was going on. "EVERYONE! Send out your water, flying, and frankly any pokemon who outputs a lot kinetic energy with moves like hyper beam. Make sure to have them hold on to something and follow Milotic and Blastoise's lead!"
Although some of the trainers were still rooted to the spot and unmoving, my words seemed to have woken some of them from their stupor. A whole cast of pokemon appeared from the trainers who had regained their wits and they immediately started firing off powerful moves in the same direction.
My loud instructions had awoken Platina and Mei who were right beside me. Once I had re-explained the plan to them, they surprisingly were confident in my plan and I could sense their trust in me despite us just meeting and becoming partners today. Platina sent out a strong looking Empoleon and told him to also contribute his own hydro cannon. I knew immediately that Platina must have been a strong trainer to have her pokemon know the ultimate water move. God knows it wasn't an easy task to get the right to learn it, and I don't even want to think about having to go through that training again.
Meanwhile Mei, made a cute pout and mumbled something about how "I'd help too if my pokemon weren't downstairs in my cabin right now."
The entire time this was going on, Pika was giving me a look and pikapiing. [Are you sure this is going to work man? There are hundreds of lives on the line]. I could sense that Pika wanted me to look more worried than the nonchalant face I was putting on right now. To be honest, I was partly putting on a strong face right now.
As the Champion of Kanto, I had to take charge and make sure everyone was okay on this ship. Between the heart-pounding situation of having so many people's lives at stake and the four beautiful partners I wanted to protecc, I knew I needed to put on a strong face for everyone to believe in. The only thing worse than a subpar shotcall would be one that people don't trust and subsequently, don't follow. I knew this from my early days of playing with pokemon before I had even become an official trainer.
With more and more pokemon being sent out, two things became clear; the ship's velocity was slowing down, and the increasing pressure was pressing all the human's on the ship's deck onto the floor. On the one hand, it was a good sign that this lofty idea was actually bearing some results, on the other hand… I was currently precariously close to Blue's chest as I found my forehead on her stomach.
Blue
Ehehe, I finally get my chance to shine again.
When all the other pokemon joined in operation pump harder, Red was suddenly thrown to the ground near where I was sitting. Those other two wenches were definitely not going to take the march from me that easily.
I held his head down when he tried to move it from our current position and told him "well what can you do Red, we just happened to be in this position, and since I care about your safety you're going to just bear with it."
A muffled "mmph" came from my stomach which tickled a bit, but I was going to take this opportunity for some much needed skinship.
It's not that I wasn't worried about the situation, quite the opposite, I was a bit worried that things wouldn't go well. But this was Red we're talking about, he always pulled through whenever I needed him. As far as I'm concerned, he's the only person that I can rely on to have my back when I need it.
Also, there probably wasn't anything more comforting in a precarious situation like this than having your crush basically lightly crushing in your tummy ya know?
Platina
I never thought that those stories about princes and damsels in distress were anything worth thinking about growing up. The Berlitz family is essentially modern day royalty and things like charming princes who selflessly care for others just don't exist.
Instead, there are the typical nobles who were born into great wealth and status that get it into their heads that they're god's gift to the earth. Thus, I didn't think I would ever have a real experience with a prince in my life.
That was, until I met Red today.
He acted swiftly, and saved my life before I could even react and call out Froslass. If it weren't for him, I would have met an untimely end. Dia and Pearl would not forgive me if I went out in such a manner. Speaking of them, while they were great guys in my life, I don't think I could ever see them as anything but best friends.
They had their strong points but when I see Red confidently lead all these trainers I knew that he was the prince I didn't know I was longing for.
He even called me his partner right off the bat which showed how much respect he had for me. I surely would want him to be my actual partner…
There was just one small, trivial … honestly not much to report on … problem.
Who were all these stupidly attractive girls around him?
General
The force of the multiple pokemon attacks greatly reduced the harrying speed that the S.S. Anne was flying at. Eventually the shores of Mossdeep City came into view and Red carefully directed certain trainers to regulate their attacks so they could make a safe landing.
As it became clear that they were going to land safely in the water, Red stood up hung onto a nearby railing, he then took a small sigh of relief out of view of the other trainers.
He found the time to crack a joke to the rest of the tense trainers who had been under stress:
"This is Captain Red speaking, so it would seem that we're about to make a water landing in a few minutes, but that's okay because this is a boat."
(A/N: It's like 3:40am and I feel like the chapter lengths are still too long for my liking. Will work on cutting down chapter lengths and that'll probably help release times (although I guess nothing can be as bad as a 6 year hiatus… sorry about that one y'all). I'm working on reading and rereading through the pokemon special manga so I can brush up on my pokelore. Hope you enjoyed this chapter. All the reviews I was reading really got me to sit down and write again and while I know it was probably a lot different from the writing you used to read, hopefully it was entertaining in a different way. Any feedback is welcome and I'll take what I can and try to incorporate it in the future. See y'all next time!)
