Chapter 7: A Wild Sapphire Encounter

(A/N: Mangadex and other aggregation sites aren't really working too well so reading the Pokespe manga has been slow af. I'm on the GSC arc now so it'll be slow progress. I might mix in some of May's characteristics into Sapphire but that will be determined as her character develops)

General

"I heard that the S.S. Anne was swept up by a rogue Tornadus attack, since you're picking up this call right now can I assume you're safe and not in the stratosphere?" Professor Oak continued with a noticeably shaken tone on the phone. After Red confirmed that he was okay he also added about how the other girls who had been sent on the mission were safe and sound with him.

Oak's voice returned to a normal level and he then continued to ask, "where are you and the other dex holders right now?"

Red efficiently reported that they had just docked at Mossdeep City's Port and were currently trying to figure out what to do next.

Which led Oak to quickly state "that's great, this fits right with the update I wanted to give you on your mission… it turns out that when I told you to investigate Team Plasma, it wasn't just them and potentially Team Galactic stirring up trouble. There are possibly more organizations across many more regions that I'll need you and your team's help with. With that in mind I will be periodically sending you to different places whenever problems arise. Lucky for you, Mossdeep City should definitely be safe so you have some time to prepare with your new teammates."

Red

Multiple regions worth of suspicious organizations? What has the world come to, back in my day, I just had to deal with Team Rocket and Green on a bad day...

I let the rest of my partners know about the bad news and there were a large variety of responses. Blue and Mei both looked determined and exclaimed that they were ready to defeat evil no matter how many organizations were involved. It would seem Blue's history with dealing with Team Rocket and whatever Mei had gone through before this really motivated them here.

Meanwhile Yellow looked like she was uneasy about the revelation that there were even more evil teams committing unknown horrors on Pokemon.

Platina on the other hand looked surprised that there was multiple teams involved, including Team Galactic, she thought to herself… she had already had a run in with them before and thought she had defeated them back then.

I observed the multitude of reactions they had and besides noting that my partners were great at making any kind of emotion look attractive, I didn't find anything too concerning about their reactions besides Yellow's reaction.

I walked over to Yellow, with Professor Oak still on the line but muted, and asked her if she needed any of my support. She gave me a look of gratitude and whispered that if I could stay by her for the rest of the day she would feel better.

Of course, if something as easy as that would make her feel better than I would be glad to cooperate. I exclaimed "I would love to stick by you today Yellow, I'd do anything to keep my precious partners feeling safe."

I could have sworn I saw some eye twitching in my peripheral vision from my other partners, but it was probably due to them still internally processing the new information.

At that moment, I decided to unmute my phone and report to the prof that his update had been conveyed.

He then said that he needed to mention to be very careful about mentioning my partner's names in any calls with him or on public lines. While the chances of a phone wiretap were low, with how many significant organizations were potentially involved in this criminal network, one could never play it too safe.

That drove home how different from the usual adventures this event would be, despite having met legendary Pokemon and dealing with organizations like Team Rocket, I never had a situation where looking out for my private communications had even come into question.

Professor Oak's final message for me was that there would be more partners joining in at different parts of my mission and he might have them also split off at times if the need arises. Especially when their home regions were involved. With all the ground we might need to cover it made sense to me that we wouldn't always be traveling in a group.

After ending my call with Professor Oak, I conveyed the last message to the rest of the team and was surprised to see that the group looked crestfallen by the idea that we would have to split up at times to deal with the mysterious mega-organization. I could have sworn I heard someone mutter that they weren't going to let the other girls get a leg up in this race even if they had to split up. That doesn't make sense though since I'm sure everyone would be happy to go back to their homes at times when they're feeling homesick, so I shelved that concern as me mishearing and pushed the group onto the next order of business, mission preparation.

"Alright everyone, we are going to need to stock up on some basic supplies and potentially visit the space center to see if they have any information on disruptions in the area involving space, in case Team Galactic is up to no good again" To which Platina gave a strong nod of affirmation.

General

After the news was conveyed, the group departed from the port and headed to the pokemart. As Red was about to enter into mart, he collided into a fairly well endowed girl who was exiting the pokemart in a hurry.

"Ow!" Red exclaimed as fell backwards while the girl he had collided with had regained her balance immediately and was bending down to help him up.

"Sapphire? Wow what a coincidence to meet you here in Hoenn again" Red said happily as he accepted the familiar hand from the fellow Dex holder that he had met during the pokedex holder battle tournament.

Sapphire looked even more beautiful than she had a few years ago in the near disaster with Rayquaza here in the same Mossdeep City. Her curves had matured out even more than before and she had on a new outfit with a red tank top, black undershirt, and black biker shorts that looked alpha good on her… were the thoughts Red had immediately when he saw her.

Then he noticed the puffy red bags under her sapphire colored eyes and realized that she had been crying recently.

"Red! It has been so long, you don't call at all or keep in contact."

To which Red gave an embarrassed scratch on the back of his neck and said "sorry you know I am really bad at keeping in touch." Then he paused and said in a more serious tone as he put his sturdy right hand on her right shoulder "Are you alright Sapphire? You look like you've had a rough time."

Sapphire, who was as straightforward a person as they come, astonishingly looked a bit reluctant to say anything. Then after making eye contact with the gentle eyes of concern Red was making at her, replied "Ruby pretended to forget everything about his confession for the hundredth time today, I can't take it anymore, I'm through with him!"

Red was pretty good at noticing things like a girl crying, but hadn't even remotely considered the possibility that it was because of love related problems. He thought to himself, well how could I know, I don't have any real experience myself!

Red, who looked way out of his element at this point, was thankfully saved by Blue who came over and consoled Sapphire in a very gentle voice. "There there, you did nothing wrong Sapphire, it was just Ruby is playing hard to get with you, it's him who's at fault but you guys can make up, I believe in the power of your bond."

To a random onlooker, Blue looked like the ideal senpai, looking after her junior with mature and comforting words. But beneath the surface what Blue was thinking was a little less saintly. Of course she was worried about Sapphire, who she considered a friend and a fellow Dex holder, however the more important thing for her right now was that there was finally another girl in her vicinity that wasn't thirsting after Red. She wanted to win Sapphire to her side and get the wildest wing-woman possible to give her an advantage in the race for Red's heart.

Sapphire looked appreciatively at Blue, without any knowledge of the slightly insincere thoughts Blue was having, and told her "I know that what you're saying sounds right, but really this time I think I need a break from him, there's only so many times I can take him pretending our precious past together doesn't exist before it becomes unbearable."

With that remark in mind, Blue replied "of course, take all the time you need, you're not the one at fault here so just relax and hang out with us for a bit."

Upon hearing hang out with us, Sapphire looked around and noticed that there was actually a fairly large crew of unusually attractive girls near her age along with the familiar faces of Red and Blue. "Oh my god, I forgot to mention that I am also supposed to be working with Red on investigating and defeating this new mysterious criminal organization!"

Blue felt her instincts briefly twinge in alarm at the idea of another unreasonably attractive girl being around Red, but then she fought back those thoughts as she assured herself that Ruby was still there so this wouldn't be a problem.

The other girls, who didn't know much about Ruby and Sapphire's history were eyeing Sapphire more apprehensively and at that moment, Mei silently assured herself that while she wasn't confident that her chest could best this new girl's… she still had bosom quality on her side.

After Sapphire revealed herself as a new team member, the group exchanged some introductions with each other and with Sapphire up to speed, they entered the Pokemart to go shopping for supplies.

That's when the lights to Pokemart shut off suddenly and the announcement speakers went off and all that could be heard in the darkness was "Give up your pokemon, this is where Team Magma and Aqua make their comeback."

(A/N: I'm not sure when the next chapter will come out. I think it is really important that I get further in the pokespe manga so I can flesh out the ever-growing cast of characters more. I don't want their personalities to become inconsistent with how I have been writing them and also various plot-points like whether certain characters have met before are not things I can remember from my first reading of the manga. So bear with me on this one, and hopefully I can get future chapters out as soon as mangadex becomes stable again. As always, I appreciate the feedback from your reviews and read all of them, sorry if I can't get future chapters out at a quick rate, would rather not compromise the story just to write on a set timeline."
