Long story short... I had an argument with my dad and then I just had the need to write some Giyuu comforting Shinobu to get over it. I feel a bit better now.

Comfort

.
. . .

The first thing he does is staring at her, surprised to find her sobbing at his doorstep.

"Ah-eh! Uhm…" no coherent word leaves her mouth despite her best effort to stop crying and look at least presentable. So, of course, he can't ask for an explanation yet.

It's odd for her to come all the way to his apartment at the other side of the city out of the blue, almost at midnight on a weekday. But he can still think of a few reasons.

"Did your thesis adviser tell you that you're doing everything wrong again?"

She flinches. Bulls-eye.

Shinobu was not a woman who would usually be affected by harsh criticism from her teachers, but that thesis adviser had his way with words and he could shatter anybody's self-confidence with just a single conversation. And lately, he has been even harsher with his students since the year is ending soon.

Although Giyū is not a talkative person, if he ever has the chance to meet him, he will certainly give him a piece of his mind. But that's not the most important thing right now.

Shinobu is still standing in front of him, nervously clutching her bag. He opens to door wider to let her in before she can say anything.

"Come."

And she goes. He gently grabs her hand and brings her inside. He warms the bath and prepare some clean clothes for her. He boils water and prepares some tea for her, to help her to calm down. And when they're finally laying down together in his bed, she hugs him closely, tightly grabbing his shirt as if she was afraid he might suddenly leave. He hugs her back reassuringly.

In the darkness of his room, he can still hear her small murmur.

"Thank you."

He kisses the crown of her head, silently whishing her sweet dreams.
