Home Sweet Home?

The rest of the Ruins were filled with mostly puzzles, some of which involved falling into holes. One hole had a faded ribbon in it. Yellow decided to take it. Another room had something called a Spider Bake Sale. Yellow bought a couple of things that she'd eat later. She was happy to donate to the spiders.

Finally, Yellow and Chuchu approached a tree with all of their leaves on the ground surrounding it, when they heard a voice. It was Toriel's.

"Oh dear, that took longer than I thought it would."

Yellow saw Toriel walk around the tree, and then dial a number on her phone. Yellow's phone suddenly rang. Hearing this, Toriel hung up and walked towards Yellow.

"How did you get here, my child?" Toriel asked. "Are you hurt?"

"Easy," Yellow replied. "I walked. And don't worry, I'm fine."

"I should not have left you alone for so long," Toriel said. "It was irresponsible to try and surprise you like this."

"Oh, I wasn't alone," Yellow replied. "I had Chuchu with me."

"Well, I suppose I can't hide it any longer," Toriel said, changing the subject. "Come, small one."

Yellow and Chuchu followed Toriel to a small house. Yellow noticed another strange star. She touched it, and the mysterious voice returned.

"Seeing such a cute, tidy house in the RUINS gives you determination"

Yellow was given the option to SAVE. She chose to, even though she still had no idea what it meant.

Yellow entered the house, and was hit with a sweet smell.

"Do you smell that?" Toriel asked "Surprise! It is a Butterscotch-Cinnamon pie. I thought we might celebrate your arrival."

"So that's why Toriel asked me about my preference," Yellow thought to herself.

Toriel continued, "I want you to have a nice time living here."

"Living here?" Yellow thought, "Doesn't she know that I already have a home?"

"So, I will hold off on snail pie for tonight," Toriel said.

Yellow and Chuchu cringed at the thought of eating snail pie.

Toriel continued, "Here, I have another surprise for you."

She led Yellow down the hall and stopped at a door.

"This is it," she said. "A room of your own. I hope you like it!"

She patted Yellow on the head and then sniffed the air.

"Is something burning? Oh, the pie! Make yourself at home."

Toriel ran off to the kitchen.

Yellow entered the room and looked around. After looking, she climbed into bed. She drew a picture of Napstablook in her sketchbook before falling asleep.

Yellow woke up the next morning to find a slice of pie on the floor. She split it with Chuchu. It was delicious. They then left the room and found Toriel sitting in a chair reading a book in the living room.

Toriel noticed the two and spoke. "Up already, I see? Um, I want you to know how glad I am to have somebody here. There are so many books I want to share. I want to show you my favorite bug-hunting spot. I've also prepared a curriculum for your education."

"About that…" Yellow interrupted.

"Oh, is there something you need?" Toriel asked.

"When can I go home?" Yellow responded.

Toriel looked a bit shocked and confused. "Go home? But, this is your home now."

"No, it's not," Yellow continued "I want to go back to my real home."

Toriel tried to change the subject. "Um...would you like to hear about this book I am reading? It is called "72 Uses For Snails." How about it?"

Yellow tried asking again. "How do I exit the RUINS?"

Toriel didn't listen. "Um...how about an exciting snail fact? Did you know that snails have a chainsaw-like tongue called a radula? Interesting."

Yellow was getting frustrated. "How do I exit the RUINS?"

"I...have to do something. Stay here." Toriel put down her book and stood up, then walked away. Yellow and Chuchu followed.
