Puzzles, Puzzles, And More Puzzles
Author's Note: Sorry that I haven't written a new chapter for a while. I've been lazy. I'm skipping fights such as with the Canine Unit, and other random encounters, because I don't want to make the story boring. Just a heads up, chapter is going to be long.
Yellow and Chuchu walked on, encountering several monsters, such as a seemingly blind dog, and a messy eater who always complained about bad WiFi. Eventually, they came across a large patch of snow. On the other side were Sans, Papyrus, and Kirlia. Papyrus was yelling at Sans.
"YOU ARE SO LAZY!" Papyrus shouted. "YOU WERE NAPPING ALL NIGHT!"
"i think that's called sleeping," Sans calmly responded.
"Yeah Paps, calm down," Kirlia added. "It's completely normal."
Papyrus scoffed. "EXCUSES, EXCUSES!"
Yellow spoke up. "Uh, should I come back later?"
The trio turned to face the young trainer.
"OH-HO! THE HUMAN ARRIVES!" Papyrus exclaimed. "IN ORDER TO STOP YOU, MY SIBLINGS AND I HAVE CREATED SOME PUZZLES!"
"Siblings?" Yellow thought. "Does that mean Kirlia is related to them?"
Papyrus continued, "I THINK YOU WILL FIND THIS ONE...QUITE SHOCKING!"
Sans and Kirlia snickered.
"So, what do I have to do?" Yellow asked.
"I'M GLAD YOU ASKED!" Papyrus replied. "THIS IS THE INVISIBLE ELECTRICITY MAZE! WHEN YOU TOUCH THE WALLS OF THIS MAZE, THIS ORB WILL ADMINISTER A HEARTY ZAP!"
Papyrus held out a small blue orb.
"SOUND LIKE FUN?" Papyrus asked. BECAUSE! THE AMOUNT OF FUN YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE, IS ACTUALLY RATHER SMALL I THINK."
"Bring it on!" Yellow exclaimed.
Back when Chuchu was learning Thunderbolt, Yellow got shocked many times, so she was used to the feeling.
"OK, YOU CAN GO AHEAD NOW." Papyrus said.
Yellow took a step, and heard a scream as Papyrus got shocked.
"Oh my god! Are you ok?" Yellow asked the tall skeleton.
Papyrus started stomping his foot.
"SANS! WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
"i think the human has to hold the orb." Sans responded.
"OH, OK." Papyrus said.
He walked through the maze, and handed Yellow the orb.
"HOLD THIS PLEASE!" He said.
He walked back through the maze.
"OK! TRY NOW!"
When Papyrus went to hand Yellow the orb, he inadvertently created a path through the maze with his footprints, so the puzzle was rather simple.
"INCREDIBLE!" Papyrus exclaimed. "YOU SLIPPERY SNAIL! YOU SOLVED IT SO EASILY…TOO EASILY!"
Kirlia tried to hold back a laugh.
Papyrus continued. HOWEVER! THE NEXT PUZZLE WILL NOT BE EASY! IT WAS DESIGNED BY MY BROTHER, SANS! YOU WILL SURELY BE CONFOUNDED! I KNOW I AM! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!"
Papyrus ran off to prepare the next puzzle. Sans approached Yellow.
"hey, thanks. My brother seems like he's having fun."
Yellow smiled. "It was no problem! I'm happy to help! By the way, what's with the outfit he's wearing?"
"oh that?" Sans responded. "we made that a few weeks ago for a costume party. he hasn't worn anything else since. he keeps calling it his 'battle body'."
"That just shows how much he likes it." Kirlia added.
"man, isn't my brother cool?" Sans asked.
"I like how optimistic he is." Yellow responded.
After the conversation ended, Yellow went to find the next puzzle.
Yellow and Chuchu entered the next room, and were instantly greeted by Papyrus.
"HUMAN!" He said, "I HOPE YOU'RE READY FOR…"
Papyrus looked around.
"SANS! WHERE'S THE PUZZLE?!"
"it's right there. on the ground." Sans responded.
Kirlia pointed to a piece of paper on the ground.
"I doubt they'll get past this one." Kirlia said.
Yellow walked forwards, glanced at the paper, and then walked up to Papyrus.
"SANS! THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT!" Papyrus yelled
"whoops." Sans said. "i knew i should have used today's crossword instead."
"WHAT?!" Papyrus asked in disbelief. "CROSSWORD?! I CAN"T BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT! IN MY OPINION… JUNIOR JUMBLE IS EASILY THE HARDEST."
"what?" Sans asked. really dude? that easy-peasy word scramble? that's for baby bones."
Kirlia laughed as Papyrus facepalmed.
"UNBELIEVABLE. HUMAN! SOLVE THIS DISPUTE! WHICH IS HARDER?"
Yellow thought hard before answering. "Junior Jumble is pretty hard. Some of the words are pretty long, and are hard to unscramble. However, crosswords are pretty hard too. It also depends on how one's brain works."
"Wow," Kirla said. "I was not expecting that answer."
"WELL, IF THE HUMAN FINDS BOTH PUZZLES TO BE SO DIFFICULT!" Papyrus said, before laughing his signature laugh, and running off.
"Then that means he'll capture you for sure." Kirlia finished.
Yellow walked up to Sans.
"thanks for saying that junior jumble was hard just to appease my brother. yesterday, he got stumped trying to solve the horoscope."
Yellow laughed. "He's a nice guy. I don't want to upset him."
Yellow and Chuchu walked off, the rest of the forest awaiting them.
The next room had two tables. One table had a plate of spaghetti on it, while the other had a microwave. There was a note on the ground written by Papyrus. It explained that the spaghetti was to distract Yellow so she could be captured.
Yellow realized that the microwave to heat the spaghetti up had to be plugged in, but there was no outlet in sight. Yellow decided to eat the spaghetti cold, but it was stuck to the plate.
"Oh well," Yellow said.
Yellow noticed another star, and touched it.
Thinking of what puzzles Sans and Papyrus have next fills you with Determination.
Yellow saved.
The next puzzle had X's on the ground that all needed to be turned into O's in order to remove the spikes blocking the rest of the path. After Yellow completed the first one, she noticed Papyrus was waiting for her.
"Hi Papyrus." Yellow said.
Papyrus turned around.
"WHAT!? HOW DID YOU AVOID MY TRAP!?" He asked. "AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY… IS THERE ANY LEFT FOR ME?"
Yellow realized Papyrus was talking about the spaghetti, and decided to tell him the truth.
"The spaghetti was frozen to the table, so I couldn't put it in the microwave, which needed to be plugged in. You can still have it though" She said.
"REALLY!?" Papyrus responded. "WOWIE… YOU RESISTED THE FLAVOR OF MY HOME COOKED PASTA… JUST SO YOU COULD SHARE IT WITH ME?"
Yellow nodded as Papyrus continued.
"FRET NOT HUMAN! I, MASTER CHEF PAPYRUS… WILL MAKE YOU ALL THE PASTA YOU COULD EVER WANT!"
"That's very nice of you." Yellow said
As usual, Papyrus walked away laughing his signature laugh. Although this time, it was...backwards?
The next area had a board filled with tiles that were different shades of grey.
Papyrus spoke. "HEY! IT'S THE HUMAN!"
"Who else would it be?" Kirlia asked.
"YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS PUZZLE!" Papyrus said. "IT WAS MADE BY THE GREAT DR. ALPHYS! YOU SEE THESE TILES!? ONCE I THROW THIS SWITCH… THEY WILL BEGIN TO CHANGE COLOR! EACH COLOR HAS A DIFFERENT FUNCTION! RED TILES ARE IMPASSIBLE! YOU CANNOT WALK ON THEM! YELLOW TILES ARE ELECTRIC! THEY WILL ELECTROCUTE YOU! GREEN TILES ARE ALARM TILES! IF YOU STEP ON THEM, YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGHT A MONSTER! ORANGE TILES ARE ORANGE SCENTED. THEY WILL MAKE YOU SMELL DELICIOUS! BLUE TILES ARE WATER TILES. SWIM THROUGH THEM IF YOU LIKE, BUT IF YOU SMELL LIKE ORANGES, THE PIRANHAS WILL BITE YOU! ALSO, IF A BLUE TILE IS NEXT TO A YELLOW TILE, THE WATER WILL ALSO ZAP YOU! PURPLE TILES ARE SLIPPERY! YOU WILL SLIDE TO THE NEXT TILE! HOWEVER, THE SLIPPERY SOAP… SMELLS LIKE LEMONS! WHICH PIRANHAS DO NOT LIKE! PURPLE AND BLUE TILES ARE OK! FINALLY, PINK TILES. THEY DON'T"T DO ANYTHING. STEP ON THEM ALL YOU LIKE. HOW WAS THAT!? UNDERSTAND?"
Yellow wrote the newly received information down and repeated them back. "Got it."
"GREAT!" Papyrus said. THERE'S ONE LAST THING… THIS PUZZLE… IS ENTIRELY RANDOM! WHEN I FULL THIS SWITCH, IT WILL MAKE A PUZZLE… THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE! NOT EVEN I WILL KNOW THE SOLUTION! NYEH HEH HEH! GET READY…!"
Papyrus pulled the switch. The tiles shuffled. The outcome was just red tiles that had a pink tile path. Everyone stared at the puzzle in disbelief, until Papyrus started spinning away.
"Well that happened," Yellow finally said, breaking the silence.
She and Chuchu crossed the path and walked towards Sans.
"actually, that spaghetti from earlier…" He began, "it wasn't too bad for my brother. since he started cooking lessons, he's been improving a lot. i bet if he keeps it up, next year he'll even make something edible."
At that moment, Yellow and Chuchu were glad they hadn't eaten the spaghetti.
The next room had a long bridge. As they crossed it, Yellow and Chuchu saw Sans, Papyrus, and Kirlia on the other side.
"HUMAN!" Papyrus began. "THIS IS YOUR FINAL AND MOST DANGEROUS CHALLENGE! BEHOLD! THE GAUNTLET OF DEADLY TERROR!"
Suddenly, Yellow saw spears, a cannon, flames, a spike ball, and...a dog on a rope?
"WHEN I SAY THE WORD," Papyrus explained, "IT WILL FULLY ACTIVATE! CANNONS WILL FIRE! SPIKES WILL SWING! BLADES WILL SLICE! EACH PART WILL SWING VIOLENTLY UP AND DOWN! ONLY THE TINIEST CHANCE OF VICTORY WILL REMAIN! ARE YOU READY!?"
"Bring it!" Yellow exclaimed.
"GOOD!" Papyrus said. "BECAUSE! I! AM! ABOUT! TO DO IT!"
A few moments passed, but nothing happened.
"well?" Sans asked. "what's the holdup?"
"HOLDUP!?" Papyrus asked. "WHAT HOLDUP!? I'M… I'M ABOUT TO ACTIVATE IT NOW!"
"Then do it." Kirlia said.
A few more moments passed. Still, nothing happened.
"that doesn't look very activated." Sans said.
"WELL!" Papyrus responded. "THIS CHALLENGE! IT SEEMS… MAYBE… TOO EASY TO DEFEAT THE HUMAN WITH. YEAH! WE CAN"T USE THIS ONE! I AM A SKELETON WITH STANDARDS! MY PUZZLES ARE VERY FAIR! AND MY TRAPS ARE EXPERTLY COOKED! BUT THIS METHOD IS TOO DIRECT! NO CLASS AT ALL! AWAY IT GOES!"
The gauntlet disappeared.
Papyrus breathed a sigh of relief. "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!? THIS WAS ANOTHER DECISIVE VICTORY FOR PAPYRUS! NYEH! HEH! HEH?"
Papyrus walked off.
Yellow talked to Sans.
"i don't know what my brother's going to do now. if i were you, i would make sure i would understand blue attacks."
And with that, Yellow and Chuchu were out of Snowdin Forest.
Author's Note: The forest arc is now over! And so is this long chapter. Thank you all for reading my story, and hope you all have a Happy New Year!
