A/N: Hi all, I haven't had a lot of time over the past week to write but I figured I would take some time to put a little short bridge out for you all! Working on the possibility of starting a YouTube channel and watching through the Legend of Korra, so that's been taking up a bit of my time and creative energy as of late. Hope you all understand! Now onto the next chapter!

Today had not gone as Katara had believed it would. Instead of looking forward to the prospect of learning Waterbending from Aang later that day; she had been unable to take her eyes off the horizon. Hoping… Praying that they were okay… That he was okay…

She had thrown herself into work. Hundreds of Fire Nation soldiers had landed at their home over the past few hours; not as conquerors but as refuges running from a Nation that had betrayed them. The Water Tribe accepted them with open arms, seeing what they had gone through as enough payment for attempting to invade their home. To be betrayed by their own Nation. Katara mused as she handed out another blanket to a cold but grateful soldier. Even for a Nation as heartless and evil as the Fire Nation to do… but what she saw before her weren't heartless people, but frightened human beings who had gone through a trauma of their own. It almost normalized them for her… Almost.

Those who had needed healing were sent up to the healing tents, the rest were provided a warm meal, blankets, and were gathered up in the main hall. All the soldiers gladly obliged, thinking this to be a warmer welcome then they had deserved.

The operation had been a success and should have filled Katara with so much hope, but she was only empty, empty at the realization that it was sunset and neither Yianna nor Aang had returned.

The way he had been hit and the fact that Yianna was likely injured as well made it less and less likely that they would return as time went by. She had turned to the wall again. Looking down at the water, hoping… Until she saw it or saw something at least. Maybe my eyes are just playing with me. But as she continued to focus in on the area in question, she saw movement, albeit slow. It was them.

Katara yelled out: "They're in the water!" Nearly jumping over the wall into the cold water herself before Yianna propelled, with the last of her strength, both up into the courtyard.

They unceremoniously landed with a hard thud into the courtyard and were immediately surrounded by medical personnel as well as a few soldiers who began to guard the Avatar, looking questioningly over to the Fire Nation soldiers.

Realizing what was happening, a Fire Nation soldier separated himself from the group and began to speak. "I believe I can speak for everyone here when we say, we have no interest in attacking the Avatar where he lays. Our Nation betrayed us. We may not know what that means for us yet, but you all saved our lives today, for that we are grateful." He finished, turning to the remainder of the soldiers standing in line awaiting aid. His words prompting all in line to begin nodding in agreement.

At this the soldiers relaxed their guarded stance around the Avatar slightly but remained vigilant none-the-less.

Katara pushed her way through to see them. She got a glimpse. Aang was hurt badly and Yianna was exhausted from seemingly swimming them both back by hand the entirety of the way. Aang took a shot straight to his torso and it didn't look good at all. Yianna was not much better off; her back being burned during the fight. She was lying flat on her back, exhausted, but still found the strength to turn her head towards Aang who the healers were profusely working on. "How is he?" she breathed out as another healer began to work on her injuries.

A healer turned to her momentarily: "It appears he sustained a blunt force trauma to his torso area, it doesn't look good, but we will do our best. He is breathing and you got him back safely though, you did well." she finished. At this, she directed some of the men to gently lift the Avatar up and bring him towards the healing hut after she had stabilized him. Yianna began to try to get up to follow but was pushed back down to the ground. "You sustained injuries as well, don't try and move. You will be brought to his side shortly." At this a small stretcher was brought over to help lift her to the healing hut as well. Yianna only grimaced slightly as she was lifted onto the cot, her eyes still trained on Aang, worried for his wellbeing.

Katara was quickly by their sides as they walked them to the tents, many people looking worriedly towards them as they went. She was stopped just short of entry by one of the healers: "I'm sorry but you can't come in." She started but quickly stopped when she saw the look of desperation in her eyes. Continuing: "but we will call you as soon as we are finished healing them." She concluded. At this she bowed and Katara was left at the entrance to the tent, stunned into silence.

She sat by the entrance to the tent for what seemed like hours, hoping for one of the healers to update her with any amount of information, nearly jumping up every time the flap opened to allow a patient to enter or exit. It wasn't until her brother snapped her out of her trance that she realized that it had already become nighttime as the moon began to rise in the sky. She felt a blanket being draped over her, but she didn't move.

"Katara… You need to come inside before you catch a cold out here." Sokka began as he sat down next to her on the ground.

"No. I need to be here when they finish healing Aang. I need to see him. I need to make sure he's alright." Katara started but was quickly interrupted by Sokka.

"Do you think this is what Aang would want?" Turning to face her before continuing: "To be out here in the cold waiting, jumping up every time the entrance opens? Not eating? Not resting?"

"I…" Katara started, but quickly shut her mouth as she knew the answer already.

"Exactly. He'd want you inside, with your family. The healers WILL get you when he's well enough to see someone." Sokka said as he got up himself and held out his hand to her: "Now come on, we need to warm you up. Dad made stewed sea prunes for dinner." Sokka finished.

Katara smiled a little at this, knowing Aang hated stewed sea prunes. "Okay… maybe for a little while." Katara finished as she took his hand and began to walk towards their home.

Both quickly stopped as they saw a figure walking briskly towards the healing hut. "I'm going to kill him myself this time!" Both looked at each other knowing Aang was in for it when he woke up.

This one is a short one but I hope you all like it!
