Note: I found a big list on Tumblr of 200 prompts, and as you can guess, quite a few of them have given me a lot of ideas! This one is based off number 20. (I'll explain in the endnotes)
Granger had been called to go on a mission in Alaska.
'How long will you be gone?' Hetty asked.
'Hopefully, no more then 2 weeks. I'll try to call every day.' He answered.
'You better'.
A few days later, the calls stopped coming. After 1 and a half days, Hetty started calling the CO for the mission wanting to know what was up.
The next day, after several calls, a few threatening to fly to Alaska personally and chew him out in person
'Is this Hetty Lange, the crazy woman who keeps barraging the lines with calls?' The CO asked.
'You are correct, sir. I would like to know where Mr. Granger is. He has not called me in 2 days and I'm getting worried'. Hetty answered.
'The squad went out on a mission 2 days ago, and they haven't contacted me or anyone else. We suspect they might be lost, but we haven't said anything yet because we don't want to worry anyone.'
'They might be lost, and you didn't even think to say anything?! Aren't you going to send a search party out?'
'A storm is coming, we're not sure if we'll be able to safely send a party out.'
'Oh. Well, okay. I understand.' Hetty answered.
Minutes later, over the intercoms
'Gentlemen! This is NCIS Operations Manager Henrietta Lange. The squad led by Owen Granger, my husband, has gone missing. I am requesting that all avaliable agents send out search parties to find them. Before any of you say no, ask yourselves this: What would you do, to save your loved ones? Thank you.'
Later
'You've got some nerve with that stunt, Miss Lange. And how did you even get on the intercoms anyway?!' The CO asked, annoyed.
'I had help from a hacking expert.' Hetty answered.
'Hundreds of my men are now going out, when there's a storm coming, to find that squad! Hundreds! Are you willing to risk hundreds of lives just to save one life?!'
'It's not just one life, it's my husband, whom I love very much! He and other people I know, would risk everything to save me if I was in trouble, and he's in trouble, therefore. I'm willing to send hundreds of people out to find him, and your men. It's a saying called 'Never leave a man behind'.
'You, are such a-'
'I'd choose your next words wisely, sir. I would hate to have to report you to your boss that you were willing to let a few men die in a snow storm because you were to lazy to find them.' Hetty answered.
The CO shut up.
A couple of hours later, Granger was found, along with the rest of the squad, and sent home 2 days later
'Wait, you were the one who sent all those agents out to find me, despite an oncoming storm?! I wasn't even that lost!' Granger asked.
'That lazy fool wasn't going to do anything, he was just going to let you possibly die in a snow storm. And I'm not about to let go of you so easily.' Hetty answered.
'Nice to know.'
'I don't mean that in a creepy way, Mind you. I mean that in a loving wife way.'
'I know.'
Endnote: The prompt I based this off was: 'You would risk the lives of millions for one person? Why?- 'Because it's not just one life⦠It's yours'. I edited this a little from that.
