AN: Yo, another chapter! Hope I nailed some characters. And yes Blank C, this is going to be a harem story like canon but with major fluff as well as progression in the relationships. I wasn't satisfied with canon's portrayal of Lala being given very little to work with.
Enjoy the chapter and please review your thoughts!
When Rito woke up from his bed, he was startled when he found a naked Lala next to him in his bed.
"Uh, Lala?"
"Hmmm, Ri -to," Lala mumbled lethargically in her sleep.
Rito was not one to be ignored, so in response to Lala's sleep talking, Rito grabbed both sides of her face and pulled on her cheeks.
"Wah, what? Rito, schnop pullin on meh cheeks." Lala slurred her words in her half-asleep state.
Teasing her, Rito softly held her cheeks and said, "Now, now. What're you doing in my bed naked?"
Lala just blinked rapidly, not understanding her current circumstances before she woke up fully and tackled Rito onto his bed.
"Rito! We're really engaged with each other!"
Rito, taken aback by her tackle and what certain body parts were touching, just responded with, "Did you think that last night was a dream? Why, I'm hurt by that Lala, I thought I was more than a dream to you."
Lala pouted at Rito's teasing. "You know what I mean! I'm just so happy to know that I'm free and that I found someone who understands me."
Lightly blushing at Lala's genuine nature, Rito got out of bed and said, "Once you get dressed, we can discuss your sleeping arrangements. When I left you last night, you were in the guest room.
Lala just yawned, mixing it with an "Ok!" before calling for Peke to dress her.
Rito, himself took his clothes from his room and got dressed in the bathroom before walking out to the kitchen, greeting his sister.
Mikan groaned before turning to Rito and asking, "Did all of that really happen last night?"
"I think you'll find that the answer to that is in my bed."
Mikan, unamused by that comment, sipped on her drink. "I made breakfast for three. You're responsible for putting up the dishes."
"Sure, I'll see you out."
Mikan gave her brother a look of 'ew overprotective brother' but didn't say anything as she gathered her stuff together and walked out the door.
"Stay safe! Don't talk to the boys at school," Rito said half-jokingly.
The faint cry of "I knew you were overprotective" gave Rito a chuckle as he went back inside to finish his breakfast.
Rito took two steps before being confronted by a very scantily clad Lala. "Heya Rito! Where're you going?"
"Right now? Nowhere. After breakfast, I'll be leaving for school. Speaking of which, would you like to go to school with me?"
Lala's face brightened up. "Of course! It means more time with you, right?"
Blushing slightly, Rito turned his head. "Y-yeah. By the way, you'll have to wear the girl's uniform if you want to attend. I assume Peke can turn into it?"
"Of course Peke can. Um, what does the girl's uniform look like?"
Rito thought for a moment and said, "It's the same top as my uniform except with a green bow instead of a tie. A green and yellow checkerboarded skirt would be the bottom part of the package."
Lala visualized that image and then looked over to Peke and said, "Come on, Peke! I wanna wear the uniform!"
With a lethargic, "Yes, Lala-sama," Peke floated over to Lala's head and with a poof sound, Lala had on the Sainan High girl's uniform.
"It's so cool!" Lala exclaimed. 'It's going to be suuuper fun to go to school with Rito. I can't wait!' Lala thought.
Rito chuckled at Lala's visible ecstatic figure. "Alright, but remember, we have to eat breakfast first before going to school. Mikan worked hard to cook us a meal."
As the two sat down to partake in the meal, Lala questioned, "Mikan cooks?"
"Yep. She does the majority of the cooking, even though I'd argue I'm quite the cook," Rito said smirking at Lala as she laughed at his antics. "Even though she doesn't have to, Mikan takes on most of the housework, cooking, and just overall house care. If I even try to do anything to help her without her express permission, she gets pouty."
"Hehe, sounds like she's really responsible."
"She is, but she needs to learn when to ask for help sometimes. That's why I'm here to help her learn that."
"Fufufu, what a responsible brother as well. I guess I lucked out on who I wanted to marry."
Almost spitting out the food he was eating at the critical attack comment, Rito ignored the embarrassment stewing in his gut as he asked. "Well, what about you? Do you have any siblings to shower your responsibility over?"
Lala gave a big smile as she said, "Two little sisters that I love to death! Not that I'm exactly the responsible type haha," Lala admitted, sticking out her tongue.
"Nonsense. If I have you figured out, you try to show your affection to them through hugs and helpful inventions!"
"Guilty as charged, but that doesn't mean the inventions end up helping them all the time." With a bit of sadness in her smile, Lala said, "I was trying to run away from the engagement so much that I barely got to spend time with them when they weren't entrenched in their studies. I hope they don't blame me for leaving."
"I'm sure they won't," Rito immediately said. "If they're anything like their big sister, then they have a big heart and they love you just as much as you love them."
"Awww, thank you Rito!" Lala said, hugging Rito.
"Meant every word," Rito reaffirmed, returning the hug.
"Hmmm," Rito hummed.
"Huh, what're you thinking about?"
Rito hesitated to say it but he just decided to go for it. "Lala, are you wearing a bra and panties?"
(-)
On the road to Sainan High, Rito and Lala walked together to school for the first time.
"Hey, are you still sulking Lala?"
"Of course, I am! You made me put on a bra!"
"That… was for my own sake rather than yours." 'I'm certainly happy that I noticed she lacked her panties as well or that could've brought some trouble,' Thought Rito.
"Well, it huuurts. It's tight!"
"We'll go find some bras more your size after school then." Rito looked away as he added, "It could be a date, I guess."
"A date? What's that?"
Rito's face was tinted with red as he said, "It's an outing for people who like each other romantically."
"Oh." Lala couldn't help the bubble in her chest as her face shared the same tint as Rito's. Bouncing back, she said, "I can't wait for this date to happen then!"
"I thought you couldn't wait to go to school."
"I can't wait for it all! This is all so new to me and I just want to experience it all!"
Rito kept on looking away from Lala because if he looked at her right now, he didn't think he'd be able to control himself from leaking out his embarrassment, especially out in public. 'Lala is just so… bright. I hope she doesn't regret choosing me. No, I'll make sure she doesn't regret it.'
As they approached Sainan high, Lala let out a gasp of excitement. "Wooow. So, this is school. I wonder how everything works."
"If everything goes according to plan then you'll be in my class, so you can watch me and follow my lead. While it is an institution for learning, you're probably well ahead of the curriculum. I bet you'll be top of class, easy."
"Eheheh, you're making me blush. Devilukean common knowledge might not be the same as Earth common knowledge. It might take me a bit to adjust."
"I can help you out there. While I'm not the brightest student, my grades are above average."
Rito and Lala entered the doors of the school and as Rito led Lala, she was excited by it all. "Everything just looks so friendly and welcoming!"
"I can't say that I feel that way about this place. Academics aren't exactly something I enjoy studying for."
"Hehe, you sound like my sisters. They always try to skive off their studies."
'What kind of studying would aliens go through? Devilukeans seem to be more advanced since they do travel through space, but to what extent?' Rito pondered. "Do they have it hard? You're the heir, but they're a part of the family, so they must receive the same sort of education you do, right?"
Lala put a finger to her chin as she contemplated how to answer the question. "I think they're just naturally lazy. They have some responsibilities though and I can understand wanting to get around some of that."
"Hmm, ok." Rito pointed in the direction of a door. "This is the Principal's office. The Principal is a bit on the crazy side. Actually… not a bit crazy. He's REALLY crazy! He's a massive pervert with no control whatsoever when he sees a cute girl."
"Why are we here though?"
Rito smirked. "We can use his perverseness to get you admitted into the school. I did mention I had a plan."
"Ah, ok." With those words, Rito led Lala inside what was a normal room with a big desk and a big chair turned away from it.
"Hey, Principal. Can you admit Lala into my class? She's someone who wants to be a student of this school."
A man's booming voice could be heard from the chair. "Oho? Why would I do such a thi- SHE'S CUTE SO SURE!" The booming voice disappeared as the small old rotund figure of the principal showed itself when the chair swiveled over to the front of the desk.
"Thank you very much sir. See you never!" Rito led Lala out of the room in a hurry before the principal would do something like pounce on Lala.
'Although would he really do something like that ever?' Rito wondered.
Lala let out a laugh at the principal's behavior. "Ehehe, he seems like a fun guy."
"He has his uses, but it's best to interact with him rarely, for your own safety," Rito taught as if he was a teacher.
"Yes, Rito-sensei!"

As Rito opened the sliding door to his classroom, Saruyama ran up to him saying, "Rito, Rito! What's this I hear about you leading a bombshell beauty around?"
Rito simply stepped to the side. "Saruyama, this is Lala, a friend that is from abroad. Lala, this is Saruyama, one of my friends since junior high."
"Hiii, it's nice to meet you!" Lala greeted Saruyama warmly. 'I don't know why he didn't introduce me as his fiance. Hmmm maybe he's embarrassed by it hehe. Rito's cute like that,' Lala reasoned.
"U-uh, hello Lala-chan. I didn't know Rito had a friend from another country. Especially one as cute as you."
Lala brushed off the cute comment and said, "Well, I only met Rito just the other day, so I really should be more thankful to Rito for helping me fit in with everything."
"Just the other da-. Rito, tell me. HOW DID YOU MEET A GIRL LIKE LALA!"
"Oh, you know. This and that happened and it just sorta ended up that way." Rito hadn't thought of any plan so he was unprepared to answer any hard question regarding Lala.
"That's not an answer Rito! Sigh I'll respect that you want to keep any details secret with such a beauty, but come on Rito, we're pals right."
"Riiight," Rito drawled. He didn't know where Saruyama was going with this.
"Then you can surely introduce me to some of Lala's friends, right? If they look anything like Lala, then they should be just my type."
Rito shrugged and said, "That's not up to me dude." Rito turned his head away from Saruyama's direction and muttered, "Also, I'd be in danger of being seen in a bad light if I introduced you to any girl."
"Why you!" Saruyama picked up the collar of Rito's shirt as Rito put his hands up in surrender.
As those two fought, Lala was surprised when a pair of hands made its way to her breasts.
"Wow, these are huge! I wonder how Rito found a girl like you." A female voice said.
"Wow, the power level on these babies is massive." Another girl's voice said.
"Momioka, Sawada, can you knock it off?" Rito said, identifying the two.
"Sure, sure. We just wanted to check the size of her boobs is all."
Rito ignored the eccentricities in that statement and said, "I'll introduce you to her later. Right now, I need to show Lala to the teacher's office so that she can get admitted."
"Right, Right. We want to hear the full story though Yuuki." Risa Momoika called out to Rito as he led her away.
While the two left, it was one Haruna Sairenji who sat in thought. 'I wonder who that was talking with Rito.'
(-)
Rito had sorted out Lala with the teacher and had sat back in his seat with class about to start. Saruyama shot him a look but Rito waved him off, signaling that he'd be explaining later.
The teacher walked into class. "As you might've heard already, we have a new student." Under his breath he said, "That pervert would admit anyone if they were to his taste." He sighed and then said, "Come on in."
The bubbly voice of Lala permeated the classroom as she said, "Okay!" Walking into the classroom, she turned to face the class and said, "Hello, my name is Lala Satalin Deviluke. I'm inexperienced but I'm still learning, so I hope you'll forgive me." Lala's greeting failed to include that she was talking about the customs of Earth because she was trying to keep her alien status a secret.
Of course, the boys of the class received Lala's introduction with a warm welcome. A roaring cheer could be heard across the school because of a beauty like Lala is in their class.
Rito knew that the guys of his school would freak out, but not to this extent. 'Ugh, how am I going to explain this to everyone? From what Saruyama has said earlier, there's already rumors going around about me and Lala.
Rito decided to just let things take its course.
And so, with Lala's introduction, school began as usual. Lala took an avid interest in each class and aced every question when called on except for the Japanese class where she had some minor troubles.
Lala resolved that she would study up on that.
Soon, lunch rolled around and so did the time for Rito's explanation to his friends.
"She's a model from abroad that my mom picked up during her work. She told me that she was visiting Japan for an unspecified amount of time, but for now, she'll be living with Mikan and I."
"Your mom?" Lala muttered. She was interested in what Rito's mom was like.
"A model?" Sawada and Momoika licked their lips at that information.
"She's living with you?" questioned Saruyama.
"Oh, that's right. Your mom is a fashion designer." Haruna surmised.
"It seems like everyone had their own takeaway from that." Rito deadpanned. "Anyway, Lala, allow me to introduce you to Sairenji Haruna, a good friend of mine, Momioka Risa and Sawada Mio, perverts extraordinaire.
"Wow, nice to meet you!" Lala greeted them brightly.
"Wait, what was with that introduction Yuuki!" Mio yelled out.
"Yeah, Yuuki. Are we not your friends too?" Risa phrased her question suggestively to which Rito ignored and just responded.
"Isn't it a given that you're my friends if I'm introducing you to her?"
Risa pouted. "Maaaybe, but we just want to hear it. Right Mio?"
"Right Risa. You should be more considerate towards us Yuuki!"
As the two continued their antics on Rito, Lala spoke to Haruna. "I guess if Rito considers you a good friend then you're a good person, huh Haruna?"
"I- I don't know about that er Lala-san." Haruna was surprised by how direct and blunt Lala was.
"Why not? Rito is a good judge of character is he not?"
"Er- Yuuki-kun is, but I still have many faults." Haruna admitted. 'The throbbing pain in my heart is proof of that.' Haruna melancholically thought.
Lala saw that her new friend looked down, so she hugged her and said, "Everyone has faults. Doesn't mean you're not a good person for having them."
Haruna didn't know how to feel anything but reassured by Lala's declaration, but that reassurance also came with some further aches.
Lala and Haruna both reentered the others' conversation and from what Lala could take out of it, all of Rito's friends were good people.
(-)
The rest of the classes came and went with no issues. Rito noticed that Lala adapted well and that his classmates seemed to adore her, especially the boys. Rito did have issues with the boys in his class and school because it seemed like they would be jumping Rito for his association with Lala. How crazy.
As the teacher left the class he said, "Ah, can you show Lala-kun the school's club activities since you're the class representative?"
"Yes," Lala said, expecting this.
With a "Thank you" the teacher left that responsibility to her.
"If you don't mind Sairenji-chan, I'll help out with the tour. Since Lala is my responsibility anyway, it'd be natural for me to help."
"U-uh, I don't mind Yuuki-kun."
"Then let's go!" Lala excitedly said.
And so, the three of them went and toured the clubs.
(-)
When the three of them visited the Tennis club, the club advisor, Sasuga-sensei greeted them.
"I'm sure, Sairenji-san can get you sorted. She's a very valuable member of the team you know." With that short compliment, he went off to the courts to supervise.
"Wah, that's so cool! So, are you the best in the world, Haruna?" Lala asked.
"U-uh I-"
"Sairenji-chan is quite amazing at tennis." Rito interjected, noticing Sairenji's distress at all the praise of her skill. "I don't know about the best in the world, but she is certainly the best in the school."
"Woooow! That's amazing Haruna!"
Haruna's cheeks turned red at all the attention that Lala was giving her. "T-thanks!"
(-)
After a few mishaps with some other clubs, the trio came across the baseball club, watching from afar.
"That seems like so much fun. Maybe, I could join!" Lala exclaimed.
"I don't know about that Lala, they're probably busy with practicing." Rito reasoned.
"Oh, ok then. Lead on Haruna!" Lala cheerfully said.
Meanwhile as the trio left. The pitcher of the baseball team muttered, "Somehow, I feel like I missed out on showing off to the new girl."
The rest of the baseball team cried out, "As expected of Motemitsu-senpai! Rejected by not even being addressed!"
(-)
After going through another slew of clubs, some of which were majority pervy guys that freaked out over Lala's presence, the trio finished their tour with the home economics club.
'I'm just glad that with the home economics club, I won't be subject to so many vengeful glares,' thought Rito.
Haruna introduced Lala to the club which was filled with mostly girls who received her warmly.
"Would you like to bake some cookies with us Lala-san?"
"Sure! Haruna, cook with me, won't cha?"
"Eh? Alright."
Rito just sat by and watched as Lala and Haruna mingled with the club. 'She's really fitting in with everyone. I'm glad. I know that I am eventually going to have to explain her being an alien and our engagement, but for now, everything is alright.'
Haruna could feel a pair of eyes on her and when she turned to see who it was, she saw Rito intently looking at her. Blushing from the attention, she turned back and continued her baking.
After a short time of waiting, the cookies were ready.
"C'mmon Rito, have a bite." Lala said, offering a cookie.
"Sure," Rito said, biting the cookie out of her hand. "Hmm, not bad."
"U-uh, Yuuki-kun. Would you like one of my cookies?" Haruna asked, offering her own cookies.
'Well, I'm not going to turn away free food,' Rito thought. "Sure," Rito said, eating literally out of Haruna's hand.
"Mmm" Haruna was blushing full force from that exchange and turned her head away from Rito so he wouldn't see her blush. "Ehem, I think that concludes the tour of the clubs."
"Right. We'll be going then, Sairenji-chan. See ya later!" Rito said, signaling over to Lala that they were leaving.
"A-ah, bye bye Yuuki-kun."
(-)
During dinner time at the Yuuki residence, Mikan asked, "How was your school experience Lala?"
"Hmm" Lala thought out loud. "Everyone was very nice. I could feel that all of Rito's friends were good people. Saruyama and Rito seem like they're in sync sometimes, haha."
"Eh, we've known each other for years. It's only natural then to know each other's quirks."
"Perhaps we'll see the same thing happen with my friends if they ever visit Earth!" Lala exclaimed.
"Maybe," Rito admitted. Both of the Yuuki's had the same thought though. 'I wonder what kind of friends Lala would have.'
Lala brightened up as she remembered something, "Ah, I forgot to mention. We went and saw a lot of Sainan high's clubs with Haruna. It was a lot of fun to see all the different things the clubs did."
"Well, sounds like you sure did a lot," said Mikan.
"Yep, we sure did," Rito agreed.
Everyone was done with dinner and cleanup took no time at all for the Yuuki siblings who did this daily. Lala had gone off somewhere into the house while the other siblings talked.
"How was it for you, Rito," Mikan asked.
"It was hard to keep Lala's identity secret to be honest. This is all happening so fast that there's no time to plan for any cover story or anything. I ended up using mom as an excuse for Lala being here."
"So, you hid your engagement as well, huh." Mikan noted.
"Yeah, that's too much for me to explain all at once. I do plan on telling them one day though."
"Well, you might want to do it sooner than later. That Zastin guy stopped by with a crystal-skull thing that held a message. That message was basically saying that Lala's suitors were aware of your presence and would come after you, so be ready for that. If you protect Lala from them then you'll be able to marry her, but if you don't… the earth is destroyed."
Rito was blown away at the high stakes, but he understood why they were there. "I'll be prepared then. Tell me though, Mikan. How're you so nonplussed at the message."
Mikan shrugged. "We have aliens, talking crystals, and super-powered cute girls. What's one more thing like 'the Earth could be destroyed' to add to all that."
Rito simply responded, "Ah."
"Hey Rito," said Lala as she ran into the room with only a bath towel on.
"What's up, Lala?" Rito was confused at the state of her clothes or lack thereof.
"Dinner's done, so how about a bath together?"
"… Eh?"
