'Is it just me or is Deeks being weirder then usual?' Granger asked.
'In what way?' Hetty replied.
'Odd conversations about how he knows how to scare people for fun.'
(snicker snicker)
'What's so funny?'
'I accidently overheard one of those conversations yesterday, and I think I heard a humble brag about how he's better at scaring people then anyone else on the team.' Hetty said.
'That's obviously not true. I mean look at you. You sneak up behind people, you randomly show up on the big screen in OPS, may I go on?'
'You can be pretty intimidating yourself. I mean, your grumpy personality, may I go on?'
'Say, how about we have a contest to see who can scare him first. Winner gets that new bottle of gin that I know you got yesterday.' Granger said.
'You're on!'
Next day, they started out early.
Hetty snuck up behind Deeks, but it didn't startle him much.
Granger painted something weird on Deeks's car, but it didn't do much.
Evening
'So, how'd you do?' Hetty asked.
'Tried all I could think of, but nothing seemed to work. Not even faking a phone call to order a really tight swimsuit in front of him worked.' Granger replied.
(Snort) 'You in a tight swimsuit? Puleeze!'
'I was faking a call.'
'Well, I wasn't very successful either. Guess this is a tie.' Hetty said, calmly.
'Guess so.'
Then Deeks shrieked.
They both looked at the bullpen, a box full of Jack-in-the-boxes had sprung out of a box that had been delivered to his desk.
'You sneaky troll, you.' Granger said.
'Hey, 1 more dumb remark and I'm not sharing my gin!' Hetty replied.
