Jaune and Courage the Cowardly Dog

Chap 13: Stormy Weather

It was a beautiful day today. I had off from work at Charlie's Diner. Muriel was inside making dinner while Eustace was asleep in his chair. Though, I still am trying to figure out how he is alive again with his skin back on since he was essentially eaten alive when we were in New York last week. Currently, I was outside the farm house next to the chicken coup. Courage was beside me licking a huge bone. I had my scroll out to listen to some music while going through my messages. Pyrrha and Velvet had been extremely worried when they learned what happened and had been messaging me nonstop. Nora and Ren were also worried. Though more Ren than Nora as she was more excited and asked me if I needed her to break someone's or something's legs.

Team Rwby was another story though. Blake kept on asking about the fishing spot and what kind of fish there is there. I could practically hear her drooling from here when I answered. Weiss only gave the occasional greeting while Ruby was adamant in knowing all the adventures, I had since moving to here. Yang was asking when we could meet up again. Though not in a team sense as in with the others but rather just the two of us. Which I found a bit odd. Maybe she found all this amusing and wanted to get in on the action.

'I'm sure it's nothing.' I thought as I put away my scroll while leaving the music on. I turned to Courage and saw him still licking and savoring that bone he has. Raising my hand, I moved it and started scratching him behind his ear. Leaning back, I was about to take a nap when the sound of thunder startled me causing me to jump straight up in surprise. I looked towards the sky and saw that it was still clear with no clouds in sight.

'Huh?' Courage suddenly said looking up from his bone. I looked back towards him and saw him looking confused. I followed where he was looking and saw a strange sight.

'What the?' I thought confused by what I saw. Standing about twenty feet from us was a dark-skinned lady wearing a white toga though I could not tell from where it would be from. She had orange hair, blue eyes, green lip stick and black and gold boots. But what really stood out was the fact that there was an actual cloud above her that was raining. Thunder and lightning also came from it as well. Though I barely paid any attention to the storm as I was captured by her beauty.

'She is beautiful.' I thought as I began to stare at her like a fool in love. I only snapped out of my trance when I heard crying. Looking up, I saw that was the lady that was crying. 'Why is she crying?'

I was about to go up to her and ask if she was okay, but stopped when she spotted us and stopped crying. She seemed to jump in joy before running towards us. The storm cloud above her seemed to spin around in a circle before following her. Hearing a crunch next to me, I looked down and saw that Courage had bitten through his bone in fear. He then got up and tried to run back to the house. That was enough to fully bring me back to my senses. I then moved in-between her and Courage.

"Can I help you?" I asked her as she neared me. Only for her to ignore me and run past. I was about to try and grab her arm, but the storm above her must have sensed this and sent a lightning bolt at me to stop me. Which it was successful in doing as I was now on the floor burnt and twitching a bit.

'AAAAAHHHHHH!' Courage screamed in terror as the lady caught up to him and picked him. I thought she was going to hurt him for a moment but was relieved to see that she only started cuddling and spinning around with him.

"Sweet doggy." The lady said as she put Courage back on the ground. I also noticed that the cloud above her was no longer raining and now calm. It also seemed to shrink down in size as well. Feeling the electricity leave my body along with my aura healing me, I slowly got up and walked over to them.

"Excuse me, miss." I said getting her attention. She turned to me and gave a gentle smile.

"Oh, hello. Didn't see you there. Is this your dog?" She asked.

"Yes and no. He's the family dog." I answered.

"He's such a nice dog." She as she reached into a pocket and pulled out a ball. She then threw the ball on the ground where it rolled a bit. "Fetch the ball, you precious creature. Go ahead."

"Courage isn't the type of dog to fetch miss... um... what's your name?" I asked after realizing that I did not know nor ask for her name.

"Oh, that's too bad. Either way, people have come to known me as the Storm Goddess. But you can call me Iris." She answered.

"That is a beautiful name. I'm Jaune." I told her. She smiled before turning back to Courage and try to get him to fetch the ball. Courage seemed confused about the whole thing. I was about to tell her to stop but couldn't when I heard the door to the house open. Turning around, I saw Muriel smiling at us.

"Courage, Jaune. You made a friend." She said looking towards Iris. Courage seemed to be shaking his head while Iris put her hands together with a smile on her face. "Please, come in and have a cup of tea."

"I'd love to." Iris said happily. Before I could even think of my next action, I held out my hand to her. She seemed a bit surprised at this, as evidence by the blush on her face. But she took my hand and allowed me to help her up. "Thanks."

"N-no problem." I replied as I blushed myself. Hearing Courage muttering, I turned to him and saw him running up to Muriel. He then began to try and tell her that Iris can be dangerous. Even turning into a storm that struck a miniature me to show proof. But like usual, it flew right above her head. Iris than walked into the farmhouse follow by head cloud and Muriel.

'AAAAWWWWWOOOOO' Courage screamed in horror.

"Everything alright Courage?" I asked walking up to him.

'I don't have a good feeling about this Jaune.' He answered. I looked through the screen part of the door to look inside and saw Muriel guiding Iris to the dining table.

"Are you sure Courage? I mean, the storm above her head is weird and dangerous, and the fact that she ran to you, while her cloud electrocuted me, is a bit concerning to an extent, she seems nice and friendly." I asked while pointing out. Though, Courage did not seem to like it.

'Oh, yeah, have the lovestruck person take her side.' He said annoyed while rolling his eyes.

"What? I'm not lovestruck." I argued while having a blush appear on my face.

'Come on Jaune. I saw how you look at her earlier. Clearly you fancy her.' Courage said looking at me with a deadpan expression.

"Okay, I will admit she is quite beautiful. But I would not say that I'm lovestruck." I argued against him while trying to calm myself.

'You sure about that Jaune? She could be another siren like that lady from the puddle we face a while ago.' He asked with a raised eyebrow. I sighed and relented as he had a point and while I still didn't fully agree that I was lovestruck, it could be a siren. Well, a different kind at least.

"All right Courage. While I still don't say that I am love struck, you do make a good point in the siren part. And while I doubt, she is one, I'll help you keep an eye on her in case any trouble comes." I told him which caused him to jump in happiness and excitement.

'Thanks, Jaune.' He said smiling. I patted his head and smiled as well.

"No problem Courage. Come on. Let's head inside as they are probably waiting for us." I told him. He nodded and we went inside where Muriel told us to come to the kitchen to sit down and have tea. As we sat down, the conversation she and Iris were having begun again,

"No, Muriel, the life of a goddess isn't always so heavenly." Iris told Muriel with a frown as she rested her arms on the table.

"I suppose being a goddess isn't easy." Muriel said as she raised her pot and tea cup to pour some herself some more tea. But it was a bit harder as the storm above Iris head seemed to pick up and strong winds started to blow around.

'It must be connected to how she is currently feeling.' I thought as I held onto the table. "So, you're an actual goddess?"

"Yes. I'm the goddess of storms Jaune." She said with a chuckle before turning back to Muriel. "It really isn't that easy. But it's made even worse that I lost my precious dog, Duncan."

"Oh, my. I know just how you feel. If I ever lost Courage, I don't know what I do." Muriel said not liking that thought. And I have to agree with her, Courage is like my brother and I don't know what I would if I ever lost him.

"Actually, your dog reminds me of Duncan." Iris said pointing to Courage. She then pulled out a heart shaped picture frame. And inside it was a picture of another pink dog. She then handed it to Muriel. "Isn't the resemblance uncanny?"

'Aside from the color and maybe the big tongue, not really.' I thought as I looked over the photo. The dog really did not look like Courage. A few shared traits maybe like the color fur but aside from that nothing.

"Oh, yes. They look exactly alike." Muriel said with a smile as she handed back the picture. Though as she did so, I could not help but wonder is she was just being nice or really though that the Courage looked similar to the dog in the photo.

"I miss him so much." Iris said as she took back the photo and hugged it. But as she did so, thunder and lightning came from the cloud above us. The wind started to pick up even more so. Cabinets started opening and shutting by the force of the wind while pans started to fly around.

"My, we're getting a nice breeze today. Jaune, be a dear and close the window." Muriel asked me. Completely unaware that the storm is actually inside the house. Either way, I got up and went to the window and closed it. But I tensed up when I heard Muriel get up in shock. "OH!"

I quickly turned around and saw that Muriel was standing up in shock. Looking past her, I saw that Iris had gotten up as well but also picked up Courage and was now cuddling against him. The storm had picked up even more as pans and pots were flying all over the place. The table also suddenly flew to the wall with the chairs now being in the air. Knowing that they could hurt someone, I rushed to grab them and moved them to the next room. Though easier said than done as I nearly took off with them. But luckily, it was done and we were all safe from them. Now, we just had to deal with Iris. Unfortunately, it seems like Muriel might escalate the situation even more.

"So, where will you be looking for your dog, then?" Muriel demanded with her hands on her hips. Courage all the while was trying to escape her grip but was having little luck in doing so.

"You wouldn't mind if I take Courage out for some air, would you?" Iris asked as she continued to cuddle Courage. She then began to turn around walk to the door. Courage panicked even more and tried to grab onto the walls only to rip down the wallpaper. The door then opened and quickly slammed shut when she exited through the door with the storm following her. Once it was outside, everything immediately calmed down.

"Well, actually, I would... mind." Muriel began only to realized they already left.

"Don't worry Muriel. I will keep an eye on Courage." I told her.

"Thanks, Jaune. But be careful." Muriel said as she fixed her hair.

"Don't worry. I will." I told her before opening the door, exiting and running after Iris and Courage.

8:00 P.M.

We were all sitting down in the dining room. We were eating dinner which was spaghetti and meatballs. However, no one aside from Eustace was actually eating. We were all carefully watching Iris who was staring intently at Courage. After the incident in the kitchen earlier, I had kept an eye on Iris since then. While I still did not believe she had any ill intentions, I did not want to risk it. Especially since she showed so much interest in Courage that it seemed that shoe might run off with Courage at any moment. Luckily, all she did was play fetch with Courage. But I still felt like she might try to do so at any moment. That's why I'm still keeping a close eye on her. And no, it's not because I'm lovestruck by her.

"Good doggy, sweet doggy!" Iris said as she rubbed Courage's arm. Looking over to Muriel, I saw that she had her arms crossed angrily. She apparently was not liking Iris and all the time she spent with Courage.

'Crap, this is going to reach a melting point soon. Better do something quick.' I thought as I could feel the tension building. And that was beside the fact that the storm was now sounding like a hurricane.

"Lousy dog, sitting at the table." Eustace complained angrily.

"Don't be bashful Courage." Muriel said when she saw Courage was about to get down from his seat. "After all, when supper's over, your friend will be leaving, and you will never see her again."

'Damn, that was mean. She must really not like Iris right now,' I thought as I could practically feel the joy emanating from her at the thought of Iris leaving soon.

"I just can't imagine never seeing my sweet Dunc—OH! Courage—Again." Iris exclaimed suddenly. As she said that, I could feel the loneliness radiating from her increase tenfold.

'Perhaps Duncan is not so much to comfort her but to have someone to turn to.' I thought with a frown.

"Big deal. ARGGH!" Eustace exclaimed while trying to get his fork with spaghetti to his mouth. Only for it to fly off his fork and hit him in the glasses. Which made me chuckle a bit.

"I mean, he'll always be with me." Iris clarified as she looked down before looking back at Courage.

"I understand. We're terribly close." Muriel said motioning to Courage who puffed out his chest and nodded proudly.

'Bad move there Courage.' I mentally winced as I felt the winds get stronger and fiercer.

"NO, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" Iris shouted as she got and slammed her hands on the table.

"Blah, Blah, Blah. ARGGH!" Eustace complained as he raised his spoon which had two meatballs on it. Only for them to fly out and hit him in the glasses again. Making a comedic look on him for a minute before being wiped away.

"I'M TAKING HIM WITH ME!" Iris suddenly yelled. Courage began to shiver in fear at this while Muriel became angered.

"I-I-I don't think so. You can't have Courage!" Muriel defied as she got up from her chair to stare down Iris but she did not back down.

"HE'S MY DOG AND THAT'S THAT!" Iris exclaimed as she folded her arms angrily.

"Iris, please calm down, we can talk this- WOAH!" I began trying to calm her down only to have to dodge out of my seat as some forks and knives came flying at my face.

"HUNGRY!" Eustace suddenly shouted. Only for a plate full of spaghetti and meatballs to hit him in the face. This time, all the spaghetti wrapped all around his face like he was a mummy with the meatballs being where his eyes were. Had this been in any other situation, I would have laughed out loud at his expense.

"YOU'LL HAVE TO GO NOW!" Muriel shouted at Iris.

'YES!' Courage shouted in agreement and happiness. Unaware that he just added fuel to the fire.

"NOT WITHOUT MY DOG!" Iris threatened.

'NO!' Courage exclaimed frightened. At this point, the storm had gotten even more intense to the point it felt like being in an actual tornado.

"HE'S, MY DOG!" Muriel yelled at her.

"HE'S, MY DOG" Iris yelled back.

"OH, NO! HE'S MINE1" Muriel yelled again. This time calmly for some reason.

At this point, everything was flying around. Food, plates, utensils and chairs were flying all over the place. The storm now had thunder and lightning. Seeing some spoons and knives getting dangerously close to Muriel, Courage leapt at them and tried to keep them away. Only to be sent flying to the floor and possibly through it when he got hit by a plate of food. But I managed to catch him in time before he did.

"THE DOG IS MINE!" Iris calmly said again. At this point now, everything was in the air. Nothing was on the ground and it seemed like it was only to get worse.

"No dinner. No nothing." Eustace grumbled as his food was sent flying away from him. Only for his hat to be sent flying away a moment later. He got up and tried to catch it. Only to be stuck in midair. "What's huh? - OH!"

"MINE!" Muriel yelled again.

"MINE!" Iris yelled back again.

"Heh, heh, heh!" Eustace chuckled when he managed to grab his hat again. Only to become embarrassed when the wind ripped his clothes off of him except his underwear. He then used his hat to cover his private area.

"I did not need to see that nor ever wanted to see that. Think I will have nightmares now because of that." I said feeling traumatized at what I just saw.

'Same here.' Courage agreed. We then turned to the two ladies and saw that they were both up in each other's face now.

"BOTH OF YOU CALM DOWN NOW OR WE MIGHT GET BLOWN AWAY!" I yelled out hoping that they would listen. But it seems like they couldn't hear me at all as they continued to yell at each other.

"MINE!" Muriel shouted again.

"MINE!" Iris shouted back again.

"OW!" Eustace suddenly exclaimed in pain. Looking over to him, I saw that he had hit his head on the furnace and was now clinging onto it for dear life.

'Huh?' Suddenly said in worry and confusion. I was about to ask what he meant when I suddenly heard tearing coming from the walls.

"SHIT! THE HOUSE IS ABOUT TO FLY AWAY AS WELL!" I exclaimed in terror.

'This is bad. OH NO! MURIEL!' Courage shouted realizing Muriel was about to fly away as soon as the house rips apart.

"Quick, grab a rope or something to keep her tied down." I quickly told Courage. He nodded and pulled out a rope and tied it to Muriel's foot while I tied it to the furnace that is somehow surviving all this. And just in time as well, since Muriel, without realizing it, was staring to float in the air from how string the winds are getting.

"MINE!" Muriel shouted again.

"MINE!" Iris shouted back.

"PLEASE, BOTH OF YOU CALM DOWN AND LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS!" I yelled trying and praying that they would listen both they didn't hear me as they were solely focused on each other. And with each passing second, the storm intensified until.

"SHIT!" I yelled when the house flew away along with everything else except the furnace.

'OH NO! MUREIL!' Courage shouted as he grabbed the rope to keep Muriel tied down. Only to be sent flying into the air as well. I tried to hold him down by grabbing his feet, unfortunately, the winds were so strong that I was sent into the air as well. With the only thing that kept us here and not sent flying away was the rope that we tied to Muriel and the furnace.

"MINE!" Muriel yelled oblivious to the fact that she was flying in the air.

"MINE!" Iris yelled back oblivious to the fact that her storm destroyed the farmhouse and that we were in the air holding onto the rope.

'What are we going to do Jaune?' Courage asked as he held on to the rope while watching an anchor, a black duck with a paper boat on his head and an accordion fly past him.

"I don't kn—OOF!" I began to answer only to stop when something hit me in the face, I grabbed to see what it was and realized that it was the picture of Duncan. It instantly gave me an idea on how to stop this. "We have to find Duncan Courage."

'Good idea. But we have to hurry.' Courage agreed before letting go of the rope and being sent into the clouds. I felt fear and dread creep into me when I saw that and I knew I had to do the same.

"Well, he goes nothing." I said as I let go of the rope and got sent into the storm.

CHINA

We landed in some land I have never been before. Getting up, I saw Courage was already there. Getting up, I began to follow him to a temple. All the while, I was looking around and admired how beautiful and peaceful this place I was. Seeing someone nearby, we went over to him and saw that he was wearing an orange outfit. We approached him and saw that he was meditating. Taking out the picture, we showed it to him.

"Have you seen this dog sir?" I asked. He leaned in to look closely at picture before shaking his head.

'Damn.' I thought before turning to Courage. "Where to now?"

'Follow me.' He answered before turning around and going down a random path.

INDIA

Somehow, after what felt like a ten-minute walk, we were in a completely different place with a very different culture. We were walking in front of a very beautiful building. One that made me wonder how did they make it. Taking out my scroll, I took a picture of it and sent it to my friends. Putting my scroll away, we walked around the building to try and find someone. After a bit of walking, we came in front of a large pond, at least I think it is, where a little girl was nearby licking an ice cream cone.

"Excuse me little girl. Have you seen this dog?" I asked her as I showed her the picture. She leaned in to have a closer look before shaking her head. Sighing, I put the picture away before following Courage again.

FRANCE

This time, after a thirty-minute walk, we arrive in yet another strange and completely new place to me. Yet, it was also very beautiful with its own distinct culture. There was even a tower in the far back. Taking out my scroll, I took another photo before sending it to my friends. Looking around, we began to walk again trying to find someone to ask. As we walked through the place, I felt nothing but romance fill the air. As if this place was meant for couples.

'Maybe, if I find that special someone, I could take them here as a date.' I thought before a blush came onto my face. 'Maybe Iris would like this place.'

"No daydreaming now Jaune. We still have to find Duncan.' Courage said snapping me from my thoughts.

"Right." I said as I continued to look around. Eventually finding a couple nearby making out. We approached them where Courage tapped on the man while showing the photo. The couple stopped kissing to look at the photo before shaking their heads saying they haven't seen the dog.

'Blech!' Courage said grossed out at seeing the ladies face was a bit ugly.

"Courage, that's not nice." I told him as I gently slapped his head. "Where to now?"

'How about we get something to drink and eat? We need to take a break either way.' He answered.

"Sure. Lead the way." I said with a chuckle. He smiled and began to show me where to eat while I followed him.

Nowhere Burger's Really Cheap

We were now in a fast-food burger place that sells cheap delicious burgers. I just finished the burger I had ordered while Courage is drinking the root beer he ordered. We are wondering what to do now as we still did not find the dog and that Muriel and Iris were still arguing back at the farmhouse. Well, what used to be the farmhouse.

"Any ideas Courage?" I asked as I began to drink my water.

'Nope.' He told me as he continued to look at the picture.

"Hey, I've seen that dog." A voice suddenly said while pointing to the picture. Turning to it, I saw that it came from Charlie the mouse.

"Oh, hello boss." I greeted him.

"Hey, kid. Hope to see you at work next week." He said with a chuckle.

"Don't worry you will." I told him. He was about to say something but was cut off when Courage suddenly lunged at him.

'WHERE!?' He asked while he grabbed onto Charlie's shirt.

"Calm down Courage." I told him as I pulled him away from Charlie.

"Take it easy. Take it easy." He told Courage before pointing to the sewer that was outside. "He went down that sewer."

"Thanks, boss." I told him as I paid for our meals.

"No problem." He replied before sitting down at a table.

"Come one Courage." I told him as I dashed out of the diner and to the manhole.

Seeing a shovel nearby, I picked it up and used it to move the manhole over. Both Courage and me looked down the hole to see if we could see the bottom. Only to lose our footing and fall down the sewer. We fell down for a few seconds before we landed in the filthy water of the sewer.

"Man, this place stinks. Hey, a boat." I said in disgust before spotting a boat nearby. Holding up Courage, I swam to the boat and placed him inside. He then helped me into the boat as well. But as soon as I was in, the boat mysteriously moved by itself.

'Creepy.' I thought as the boat moved through the sewer. Looking around, I realized that we should have brought a map or something as this place was quite literally a maze with so many different pathways. And what made it worse was that we did not have any new paddles.

'Duncan! Duncan!' Courage began to shout hoping that the dog would hear it. But so far nothing. We stayed floating for a while before I heard something.

"Courage, do you hear something?" I asked.

'Yeah, it sounds like a..' Courage began only to freeze in terror.

"A WATERFALL!" I shouted in terror before grabbing onto Courage and wrapping myself around him.

A split second later, we were going down the water fall yelling for our lives. After a good three second drop, we hit water again. Courage was knocked out by the impact but my aura prevented me from doing so as well. Unfortunately, this was not a good thing as we landed in what is essentially a whirlpool. We got sucked a moment after we hit the water. I sucked in as much air as I could and held it for as long as I can. Though, I felt like it would matter and that Courage and I would drown anyway. Luckily, it seemed fate was watching out for us today for soon after being sucked into the water, we came out of the pipe because it had a large hole in.

*Cough* *Cough* "Ack. Damn that was close. Are you okay Courage?" I asked after moving from him and hacking up all the water that got inside me.

'Fine. Woozy though.' He answered groggily. But his senses immediately sharpened along with mine when a mysterious voice suddenly spoke up in an almost heavenly tone.

"BEHOLD THE GOD BONE! BUT DO NOT LICK THE GOD BONE!" The voice spoke. We looked up and saw the mother of all bones. It was big enough to easily crush someone to pieces.

'But how did it get down here?' I wondered but before I could begin to guess, the voice spoke up again.

"FOR HE WHO LICKETH THE GOD BONE, SHALL LIKETH THE GOD BONE! AND NEVER CEASE FROM LICKING. IT'S JUST THAT GOOD." Th voice spoke before going eerily silent again.

'Yeah, not convinced that could possibly exist.' Courage said not believing one word.

"Doesn't matter Courage. We need to find a way out of—what's that licking sound?" I began before asking as a loud licking sound began to fill the room. We walked around the room and found out that the source of the licking was the dog we were looking for.

'DUNCAN!' Courage shouted happily. 'I'll get him off the bone. Jaune, try and find a way out of here.'

"Right." I answered.

I then looked around the room for a bit. And was disappointed to see no exit to this place aside from how we entered. And I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to go back into that pipe. But we better hurry as the only thing I did find was bones that belong to dogs that must have belong to dogs trapped here. It only took me split second to realize why they were here. They fell to the dog bone. I quickly turned around and ran back to Courage to see that he was wrestling with his tongue. Luckily, after a brief struggle, he won and managed to tie his tongue in a knot and force it back into his mouth

'Did you find an exit Jaune?' Courage asked spotting me.

"No, seems like we either have to make one or go back down that pipe." I answered.

'Well, it looks like we have an even bigger problem as Duncan does not want to let the bone go.' He said while pointing to Duncan who kept on licking the bone.

"Then let's just take the whole thing." I suggested. He nodded in agreement before somehow, picking up the entire bone and heading to the pipe again.

'Not this again.' I thought as I mentally prepared myself to go down the pipe again. Courage had just placed down the bone to catch his breath. I was about to ask him if he's ready when I suddenly heard a rustling sound behind me follow by a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw that the bones of the dogs had come together and were now acting as guardians to the bone. They then started beating me up with the bone. Luckily, Courage came through for me by using the bone as a weapon to destroy the dog bone guards.

"Thanks Courage." I told him as I felt my remaining aura heal the bruises.

'You're welcome. Now let-' Courage began only to freeze when we heard a heavy storm followed by yelling coming from above us.

"Apparently, we are directly under the farm. Any idea's Courage?" I asked him. He nodded and raised the bone to the ceiling and began to spin it at a very face pace. Making the bone essentially act like a drill. After a good ten minutes, we began to make progress through the ceiling and we eventually made it to the surface again. All dirty but that did not matter right. Looking up, I saw that we were right behind Iris who was still yelling at Muriel.

"MINE!" Muriel yelled again.

"MINE" Iris yelled back.

"IRIS!" I shouted at her as I came up to her. She noticed me and was about to say something but I prevented her by turning her around so that she could see her dog which she did.

"Duncan." She cheered happily with the storm dying down immediately. She then kneeled down next to the bone. "Good doggy."

But then we noticed something really bad. Duncan ignored her and kept on licking the bone.

'OH, NO' Courage exclaimed.

'Crap. Now what.' I thought panicked as the storm can easily pick back up again.

"You love that bone more than me. Oh, how could you?" Iris said angrily before weeping a bit before looking to Courage again. "Good doggy. Sweet doggy."

'Wait, this could work.' I thought as an idea came to mind. I leaned down to whisper to Courage. "Show her some affection. Maybe if we can Duncan jealous enough, he would ditch the bone."

'Worth a shot.' Courage said before allowing himself to be picked up by Iris. She then cuddled him with Courage hugging and licking her back.

"AAAAHHHHH!" Muriel suddenly screamed. I immediately ran over to her and helped her up.

"Thanks, Jaune." She said as she got to her feet. She then noticed that Iris was holding and cuddling Courage again. But before she could say anything, I stopped her.

"Wait Muriel. This is just to help Iris get her dog back." I explained. She seemed confused by this but relaxed and understood when she saw Courage wink at her. He then kept licking Iris but stopped when we heard a loud almost demonic growl. Looking towards Duncan, we saw that he was becoming extremely jealous. He soon stopped licking the bone before turning around and barking at Iris. He then jumped into Iris arms sending Courage flying into mine.

'That was unexpected.' Courage said as I lowered him to the ground.

"Sure was." I said agreeing with him.

"Oh, Duncan. My sweet Duncan. You come back to me." Iris said getting our attention. Turning to her, we saw that Duncan was licking her face while she giggled. It was such a lovely sight that they were back together again.

"Lovely." Muriel said as the sight.

"Thank you both so much for bringing my sweet Duncan back to me." Iris said approaching us.

"It was no problem." I told her. She smiled before she unexpectedly, leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I blushed heavily at this while she moved back to cover her blush as well.

"Goodbye. Hopefully I'll see you again soon." Iris said before running off with her dog and cloud in tow.

'And you say you're not lovestruck.' Courage suddenly said with a tease. I simply rolled my eyes at him.

Half hour later

We were sitting in what used to be the living room. Muriel was in her chair with Courage on her lap. I was in Eustace's chair which I found nearby. We were resting while watching the sun come up over the horizon.

"Isn't it grand you two? Everybody got what they wanted." Muriel asked with a smile.

'Hahahaha!' Courage answered with a chuckle as he lifted the dog bone with a smile and began to lick it.

'Oh, Courage.' I thought laughing at him as I scrolled though my messages on my scroll. But after a minute, I raised my hand to the cheek where Iris kissed and made me think of her. 'Hopefully I see her again soon.' I thought while ignoring the look Courage sent my way.
