Note: I combined themes from 2 of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies for this big 1! Operation Christmas and Come Dance with Me. Hope you love it!
Hetty was in her office, blissfully remembering the Christmas she and Granger shared the year before.
They had gone to a chateau in the mountains. They had gone skiing, sang carols, and on Christmas Eve, they took a helicopter ride to a glacier and saw an incredible view.
'What does a view like this make you feel?' Granger asked.
'Other then extra small (chuckle), really amazed. And lucky to be alive.' Hetty replied. 'What does it make you feel?'
'I don't know. I've never really thought of it. I guess, the same way that I look at you.'
Curious. 'And, what would that feeling be?'
'Lucky to love someone like you.'
Hetty was very touched.
That evening was incredible. Carols, and even some bedroom action.
'Sigh. Merry Christmas, Owen.' Hetty said, depressed when she looked at a photo of her and Owen at the chateau.
This year, Granger was overseas on a mission that had been going on for 2 months. He kept saying that it looked like he would get to go home for Christmas, but Hetty wasn't so sure.
That night, Hetty called Granger on the SAT phone they snuck in.
'You asked me last night what I wanted for Christmas, and I didn't answer? Well, here's what I want: I want to wake up on Christmas morning and find the love of my life next to me! Am I selfish for wanting that? I'm not sure if you'll get this, but that's what I want.' She said, while trying to hold back tears.
'I hope he understands.' She thought when she hung up.
The next few days passed, with no word.
'You can come with me and the rest of the team to The Squid and the Dagger for Deeks's party if you want.' Callen offered.
'Very nice. But I'll stay here a little longer.' Hetty replied.
Callen was a little surprised by her answer, but he could understand her wanting to stay longer to think. 'Okay. Merry Christmas.'
Hetty didn't want to go home depressed, so she decided to sing a little.
'Silent Night, Holy Night
All is Calm, All is Bright
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child
Holy Infant so Tender and Mild
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
Sleep in Heavenly Peace'
She then sat down on the steps of her office, unhappy, and lonely. Then an unexpected voice broke the silence.
'You always did have such a beautiful voice.'
Hetty turned, and almost couldn't believe who she saw.
'Owen?!' She whispered.
'You gonna get over here and give me the hug that I know you want to give me?' Granger asked, smiling.
Hetty raced over to him and gave him a huge hug.
'How are you even here?!' She breathlessly asked.
'I got your message. I realized that I didn't want to be apart from you this holiday Season, so I asked for time off.' He replied.
'This is the best present ever!' Then she gave him a big kiss.
The next morning, at Dovecote. Hetty woke up, turned around, and saw the love of her life smiling at her.
'Merry Christmas, Henrietta.'
Smiling. 'Merry Christmas, Owen!'
Later that day, in the mansion's dance room
'You've already given me an amazing Christmas, my dear. What more do you have for me?' Hetty sweetly asked.
Granger turned on a tape deck, and a very romantic waltz started playing.
'Would you like to dance, Miss Lange?'
Blushing. 'Why yes Mr. Granger, I'd love to dance with you!'
That day when they danced, it was like slow dancing on air, as Hetty remembered it. For the man that she loved so dearly was home with her and wanted to give her a very special Christmas. And for that, she was always thankful for his enduring love.
