Same bad dream as the night before:
Back in that awful cage, all alone, no idea if Keane was still alive. Tired, weary, in pain, hungry, smelling awful, wondering how much longer the agony was going to last.
Then the guards come by and drag her away, to a punishment that still gives her the shakes to that day.
After being married to her for a while, Granger started to notice the signs of when Hetty was having a bad dream. 1st noticable sign was the shaking. 2nd noticable sign was the mumbling (yes, she mumbles in her sleep sometimes, even though she's tried to deny it several times), 3rd sign was her suddenly moving over to his side of the bed looking for a cuddle. And the biggest sign: Her looking a bit afraid in the morning, and not wanting to really talk about it.
At work
'You okay? You seem a bit tired.' Granger kindly asked.
'I'm okay. Just didn't sleep well last night.' Hetty replied.
'You've been looking tired for the past 2 days. What's up?'
'I just can't hide anything from him, can I?' Hetty wearily thought. She sat down next to him and explained it.
'It's the same dream. It's the day I was rescued from Vietnam, I'm in that cage, Keane isn't there. I'm wondering how much longer the pain was going to last. Then the guards come by and drag me away to, well. I'd rather not say. I always wake up before, before⦠(sigh). 2 nights ago, I woke up right when I saw that shed, and I was just shaking. I didn't want to go back to sleep, so I just went downstairs, made myself some tea, and sat up for a bit before going back to sleep. Same as last night.' Hetty unhappily said.
Giving her a soft look. 'Anything I can do to help?' Granger asked.
'I don't know.'
'Well, maybe try waking me up if you're feeling scared?'
That night, the dream returned, and Hetty was on the verge of tears, and Granger managed to wake up.
'I saw the inside of that shed again, and I don't know why I'm suddenly shaking right now!' She blubbered.
Taking her in his arms. 'Shh shh shh. You're okay, you're not there anymore, they can't hurt you anymore.'
'Why do I dream about that awful place?!'
'I don't know. But it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. Just take some deep breaths and remember that you're right here.' He soothingly replied.
Hetty calmed down after 2 minutes.
'Thank you, dear.'
'You're welcome. Can you get back to sleep?'
'I think so.'
She thankfully slept good for the rest of the night.
The next morning
'Feeling okay?' Granger asked.
'I think so. If you hadn't helped last night, I'd probably be feeling worse.' Hetty replied.
'Well, (holding her hand), I'm glad you're okay.'
'I am too.'
