Chap 44: Car Broke, Phone Yes
"Magnificent." I said as I looked through the telescope we had set up.
We were in my room watching the stars of space. It was night time and since it was really clear skies, we decided to do this. A little bonding between me and Courage. Muriel was downstairs with Eustace watching some television. It was all quiet which was now greatly preferred. None of my friends are here. While I would like to be with them, I knew they had classes which meant they had to be back in Vale. It was a bit lonely but that just meant I had more time to spend with Muriel and Courage. Well, that was if nothing comes to try and ruin it.
'OOH!' Courage said in wonder. Looking into the telescope again, we saw what looked like a purple meteor with a trail fly through space.
"What could that be?" I asked as we followed it.
'A meteor?' Courage suggested.
"Doubt it." I replied. At first, I was about to agree with him but we then saw the strange thing bounce off some other planets. Which reminded me to get a book on astronomy.
'OH!' Courage gasped when we saw the object spin around for a moment before plummeting.
"What the?" I asked confused when we saw the object bounce on the ring of another planet. It bounced around the ring completely before falling off. With the ring doing the same as well a moment later.
'Didn't know it was filled with water.' Courage said when the object fell into and through a constellation that Courage told me was the big dipper. It came from the bottom with water coming out of the hole it created.
"Uh?" I asked confused when we looked down and saw a strange alien laughing while swinging a tennis racket. The object flew down past the alien. It 'tried' to hit it but missed yet laughed still It got surprised though when the water from the constellation hit it but started to use it to take a shower. Following the object again, we saw that it had crashed onto our planet a good few miles away which resulted in large explosion.
'AAHHH!' Courage screamed as he left the room.
Taking one last look, I tried to see what could have caused the explosion but saw only smoke. Worried, I grabbed my sword and shield to be ready in case what was in that explosion came here and proved to be hostile. Exiting my room, I went downstairs and saw Courage explained to Muriel what we just saw. This though, as always, annoyed Eustace.
"HEY STUPID DOG! HOW STUPID!" He yelled before going back to his paper. Hearing some clapping, I turned to Murel and saw her clapping at what Courage just showed her.
"Courage, I think a visit to a game arcade would be wonderful. How does that sound Jaune?" Muriel asked turning to me.
"That sounds nice." I answered smiling.
*Knock Knock*
'Who could that be?' I thought as we were not expecting anybody today and all my friends were busy at Beacon. Iris was working as well. Though, it could be the moms of Team Rwby but that was highly unlikely.
"A visitor." Muriel said happily.
"Big deal." Eustace complained. Ignoring him, we went over to the door to see who it was.
"Yes?" Muriel asked. Looking around her, we saw a small figure covered completely in a trench coat and hat. All that was visible was his big blood shot eyes. "Hello. Can we help you?"
"Car broke. Phone, yes?" The figure answered before asking.
"We ain't got a phone." Eustace shouted out. As if to taunt him, the phone rang at that moment. He then picked it up angrily. "We ain't got a phone."
"Phone, no. Yes?" The figure asked.
"Poor man. Of course, you can use the phone." Muriel told him. The figure then entered as Muriel closed the door. "You must be chilly. I'll get you a nice hot cup of tea."
'Hmm.' Courage said suspiciously.
"I don't trust this or him." I whispered to Courage who agreed. Moving to the other side of the room, we began to watch him cautiously.
"Tow truck come, yes?" The figure asked. But not by picking up the phone, but speaking through the bottom of the phone. As if he did not know how to use these phones.
"Can't get a quiet moment." Eustace complained. The figure then moved forward before sitting down on Muriel's chair.
'EEK!' Courage said scared.
"Here you go. It's nice soothing chamomile tea. Would you like some cake with that?" Muriel asked as she came and handed the figure the tea.
"Cake. Some. Yes?" The figure answered.
"Excuse me. I'll be right back." Muriel said before heading back to the kitchen. Turning back to the figure, we saw him begin to drink the tea. Only for it to go straight down and drip to the floor from the bottom of the coat.
'Weird.' I thought as I began to think that whoever this figure is, he is not human.
"Now to mission. Yes? Ahem. Hostility. Check. Greed. Check. Cynicism. Check." The figure said as he took out a clip board and pencil.
'Perfect description of Eustace.' I thought. Shaking my head, I moved forward and took the board from him.
"Hey. Give that back, yes?" He demanded.
"What are you even checking? And what is this mission?" I asked him as I looked over the clipboard. Yet, all that was there were description of how people can act. Like greed and hostility. But at the bottom was kindness. Something that only matched Muriel here.
"Taking others stuff rude. Yes." The figure said. Turning to him, I was about to ask what he meant by that when he raised his arm. The sleave going down to reveal his arm is a giant tentacle.
"Woah!" I shouted as he grabbed my legs before tossing me effortlessly into the closet. Courage tried to jump on the figure, only to be turned inside out and tossed into the closed as well. The figure then slammed the door shut which also locked somehow.
'Come on. Come on.' Courage grunted as he tried to open the door but couldn't. Getting up, I moved him down so we can both peak through the keyhole to see what is happening in the living room. Inside we saw that Eustace had fallen asleep. We then saw the figure extend his tentacle into Eustace's nose.
'Gross.' I thought as I resisted the urge to gag.
"No. No kindness here. Just angry." The figure said sounding surprised.
'Doesn't surprise me.' Courage said when hearing that. But to our worry, we heard Muriel come into the living room again.
"Ah, here's a little something dear." Muriel said as she came into view holing a chocolate cake.
"Cake. Yes?" The figure asked.
"I just baked it this morning." Muriel told him.
'Oh, no.' Courage gasped when we remembered the last part of the clipboard that the alien had.
"Cake. How kind." The figure said before realizing something. "Hmm. Kind."
'Move.' Courage told me. Turning to him, I saw that he pulled out a giant jackhammer and started to use it on the door knob to try and escape. Only for the door to be unharmed while the jackhammer got destroyed.
'Crap.' I thought at seeing that only the handle of the jackhammer was left.
"Look up. See, yes?" The figure told while pointing to the ceiling.
"Yes." Muriel said as she looked up. While she did that, Courage was trying to saw through the door knob only for the teeth of the saw to become broken after a few seconds.
'Damn it.' I thought seeing that.
"It is a lovely ceiling." Muriel said looking up. Looking through the key hole, we saw the figure stick its tentacle into Muriel's nose.
'AAHHH!' Courage screamed in terror for a moment before his scream changed into that of a different kind of animal.
"Kindness. Yes." The figure said.
"Give me that Courage." I said pointing to a blow torch and welding mask. He gave it to me which I then used to try and melt the knob. But all I did was it to go red hot.
"Kindness. Check. Check. Check." The figure said getting our attention. Looking through the keyhole, we saw something get drained from Muriel into the tentacle of the figure. He then took out the tentacle and pulled out a test tube. He then drained a greed fluid from his tentacle into the tube.
"Oh." Muriel said woozily. She then became angrily and pointed at the figure. "We ain't got no phone."
'Wait, is that green fluid her kindness?' I mentally wondered as Muriel is kind and for her to yell out of nowhere is just not her. Looking back, we saw Muriel grabbed the figure roughly and walked to the door and open it.
"And don't let me catch you around here again." Muriel warned as she kicked the figure out of the house.
'What is this knob made of?' I thought as I tried to open it yet after all we did to it, it remained strong and undamaged.
'MURIEL! MURIEL!' Courage shouted. A second later, Muriel had opened the door.
'Finally.' I thought with relief. But before either of us could exit the closet, we were both hit by Muriel with a rolling pin.
"OH!" Courage and I both groaned in pain as we felt a bump form on our heads.
"Huh?" Eustace asked waking up from his nap. Turning to him, we saw him looking at us with irritation.
"What you looking at, four eyes?" Muriel asked.
"OH! Hee, hee, hee!" Eustace laughed in realization.
'Oh, no. This can't be good.' I though in horror.
"I'm hungry." Muriel shouted.
"Me too," Eustace agreed.
"Cook me dinner." Muriel demanded.
"Me too." Eustace added trying not to laugh.
"Stupid dog and kid." Muriel insulted.
"Me too." Eustace laughed not realizing he just insulted himself.
'OH!' Courage whined while I massaged my temples at what we were just about to go through.
"Come on. Let's go make dinner." I told Courage as we went into the kitchen.
Entering the kitchen, we quickly began to make dinner. Taking out the ingredients, we started to prepare some fancy sandwiches. Seasoning the salad, cooking the fish, making the dough and cooking the meat, we very quickly started to get tired. As we started to finish cooking, we heard Muriel and Eustace laugh in the dining room. Followed by Muriel hitting Eustace with him asking what did he do? Only for more laughter to follow. Sighing, we started to put together all the food.
'Where do you think that creature is?' Courage suddenly asked.
"Maybe where that explosion happened. That could be where he crash landed." I answered after giving it a thought.
'You thinking what I'm thinking?' He asked.
"Find that creature and get Muriel her kindness back." I answered. He nodded before heading to the kitchen window and taking out the telescope again from his pocket. Moving next to him, we began to look through it and tried to find the creature. After a few moments, we found him standing at a weird looking bus stop.
'There he is.' Courage said when we found him. But after a second, we saw him throw away his hat and take off his coat to reveal that he was just a brain with tentacles. And in one of them was the tube that contained Muriel's kindness.
"What could he be waiting for?" I asked as we saw him continue to wait there. But before we could begin to guess, we heard Muriel yell out.
"STUPID DOG AND KID!" Murel shouted. "I"M HUNGRY!"
"ME TOO" Eustace shouted as well.
"Let's feed them and then go and get that alien." I told Courage. He nodded and we went back to the table and picked up the tray. Heading into the dining room, we began to set the table and hand out the food we made.
"That's a salad fork you stupid." Muriel said pointing to a fork.
"What are you trying to?" Eustace asked but didn't finish as we ran out of the room.
Exiting the dining room, we quickly made our way out of the house. We then headed to where we saw the alien. It took about ten minutes of running as fast as we could to eventually spot him. Before we could continue, we saw a giant spaceship come down. A ramp soon came down which allowed the alien to enter the ship.
'AAHHH!" Courage screamed.
"HURRY!" I shouted as we began to run again to the ship as we knew it would be only a few moments before he would escape. Soon, we were on the ramp and about to enter the ship but the door closed as we got there. And since we couldn't stop in time, we crashed into it with Courage leaving a noticeable imprint in the door.
'Oh!' Courage groaned as I helped him out of the indent, he made.
"You, okay?" I asked him.
'Yeah. But what are we going to do?' He asked.
"Well, this ship is similar to the one the chicken used. Maybe there is a batter or plug nearby." I suggested.
'Perhaps.' Courage said as we began to circle the ship. Luckily, we were right as on the other side of the ship, we saw a cover for what we can only presume is to keep the battery in place.
"Okay. Here we are." I said as I removed the hook that kept the cover closed. And behind it was a large battery that Courage quickly took out. As soon as he did that, we heard the ship power down.
"You didn't do your stupid tasks. Stupid dog and kid. Now you got me all stupid out of breath." Muriel said startling us while trying to catch her breath.
"Inside." I quickly told Courage. He quickly did so with me following him right after. But Muriel did so as well. Once inside, we moved away from the spot where the battery was to get away from Muriel.
"Stupid dog and kid." She yelled as she entered the ship as well.
"Woah." I gasped when I saw a giant brain with tentacles in the center of the ship. But what caught my attention was that it had Muriel's kindness in one of its tentacles. "There it is."
"Rude. Yes?" We heard the other alien asked as we passed him. Ignoring him, we headed to the big brain and proceeded to try and get the tube away from him.
'Muriel. We'll save you.' Courage shouted as we struggled to get the tube away.
"Come on. Give it back." I grunted as we continued to pull. But after a good pull, the tentacle came off the brain.
'Well, that works as well.' Courage said as he removed the tube from the tentacle.
"You go, yes?" The alien demanded.
"Like hell we will." I said as I took out my sword and readied my shield.
"You both go now. Yes?" The alien said as he smacked us with his tentacle arm.
"Ow." I said when he smacked us. It hurt but very little and was nothing compared to Yang when she attacked me when we trained.
"Oof!" The alien grunted when Courage smacked him with the tentacle we got from the big brain. They continued to smacked each other while I blocked the alien's attack.
"Stupid planet." The big brain said when it saw Muriel walk up to it.
"Stupid brain." Muriel insulted back.
Back and forth they went as we went back and forth with the alien. But as we blocked each of his attacks and countered, we unknowingly were moving back all the same. We did not notice this until our backs hit the wall.
"Now you become nothing. Yes?" The alien threatened. Looking around as I didn't want to kill the alien, I suddenly remembered the tube that contained Muriel's kindness. Taking it from Courage, I threw some into the eyes of alien.
'What was that for Jaune?' Courage asked confused. But before I could answer, the alien got our attention.
"Oh. How rude of me. Would you both like to leave? I'm sorry to hold you both up. Yes?" The alien asked.
"Yes." I answered.
"Allow me then." He said as he went over to the lever that presumably controlled the door.
"Come on." I told Courage as I quickly put away my shield and sword.
Nodding, we ran over to Muriel who was still arguing with the brain. Grabbing her hands, we dragged to the door and off the ship. But as we made it down the ramp Courage stopped us. I was confused until he showed me a giant bomb with a lit fuse. I understood what he meant. Nodding, he went back up the ramp and knocked on the door. The alien answered and accepted the gift before closing the door again. Courage then ran back down and help me get Muriel to a safe distance before the bomb went off. Unfortunately, we didn't get to a safe distance in time as we were launched into the air by the force of the explosion.
"OOH!" Muriel grunted when she landed on the floor with us landing onto of her a second later.
"Catch it." I yelled when I saw Courage lose grip of the tube. Luckily, he caught it before it spilled. "Oh, thank Oum."
'So, how we get this back in her?' Courage asked confused.
"I'd say stick it in her nose." I said hesitantly. Courage shivered a bit but did so anyway all the while Muriel kept cursing.
"Stupid falling. Stupid aching elbow. Stupid electoral college." Muriel bitterly said.
'What's an electoral college?' I thought as Courage pulled Muriel's head back and put the tube in her nose with the liquid going back inside her.
"OOH!" Muriel said drowsily after we removed the tube after it was empty.
'I hope this works.' Courage said as we moved to give Muriel some space. Luckily, it did so after a moment.
"Courage. Jaune. What happened? Where are we?" She asked as she looked around. Curious as to where she was.
'Yes.' Courage shouted in joy as we hugged her.
"We'll explain when we get home." I told her.
"Very well." She said as she got up. Holding hands, we made our way back home.
Half an Hour Later
"Don't you want to yell at them?" Eustace asked.
We were back at the farmhouse. I was laying down on the couch while Muriel was in her rocking chair with Courage on her lap. Getting back to the house, Eustace was bewildered when he saw us holding hands with Muriel smiling. It was clear to see that he preferred it when Muriel was mean with us.
"Of course, not." Muriel answered.
"Hit them with a rolling pin?" Eustace asked.
"No." She answered.
"Use them as a dust rag?" He asked one last time.
"Certainly not." She answered calmly.
"Just when things were getting good." He complained before sitting down in his chair.
"Calm yourself Eustace. Everything is back to normal." Muriel told him.
'What is normal?' I thought with a chuckle as normal seems to be having these strange and dangerous occurrences happen to us.
"Thanks to Courage and Jaune. We don't have to worry about more aliens." Muriel said. At that moment, roughly a hundred aliens appeared from thin air.
"Car broke. Phone, yes?" They all asked at the same time.
'AAHHHH!' Courage screamed in terror while I just covered my face in irritation at having to do this again.

Thought of having Pyrrha appearing in this episode but after a few tries it didn't work too well so I left her out. She will appear in a future chapter though.
