Jaune and Courage the Cowardly Dog

Chap 65: Courage the Fly

"How has Beacon been for you guys?" I asked Weiss and Ruby. The professors at Beacon made the students have a team bonding day with their partners. Deciding they could take this as an excuse to take a vacation, they came here to Nowhere. Currently, we were on the porch of the farmhouse.

"Tough. Oobleck and Port have been increasing the difficulty on their tests." Ruby answered.

"And Glynda has been extra stressed in her work which is now bleeding into her work. Though, I suppose this is because Ozpin and Ironwoods are still after your fiancé. Which is causing more stress to Glynda." Wiess added.

"Well, you guys are soon going to graduate from being freshman. So, its natural they increase the difficulty." I told them. They just shrugged their shoulder as we continued to just enjoy the peace.

'Hey guys.' Courage said walking up to us.

"Hey Courage. Long time no see" Ruby said while giving him a pat on the head.

"Need something?" I asked.

'Spotted Di Lung again. Working on something strange nearby.' He answered.

"Great. Not him again." I said standing up.

"Who?" Wiess asked.

"Di Lung. Courage says he's doing something nearby. We should probably check it out." I answered.

"You think he would learn his lesson after everything we put him through." Weiss said as she got up and took out her weapon with Ruby doing the same.

'Follow me.' Courage said. Nodding, we began to follow him to Di Lung. Which did not take long to find. Getting there, we saw him adjusting a weird contraption.

"I think so?" He asked himself.

"What are you doing Di Lung?" I asked him.

"I'm going to make a satellite fall, you fool." He answered. Hearing a squeak, we looked past him and saw the magnet that was placed on top of a soup can moved a bit. "AH! It's done."

"I doubt you can make a satellite fall with that junk." Weiss said not believing him.

"LOOK! I INVENT EXTRA TOE!" He shouted angrily.

"Gross." Ruby said disgusted. This further angered Di Lung.

"And I can make you different." He declared while showing us a test tube filled with a strange green liquid.

"What the heck is that?" I asked confused and slightly worried.

"I'll show you." He answered as he quickly poured a single drop on me and Courage.

'NO!' Courage shouted as the drop landed on us. As soon as it did, a green puff of smoke happened.

"Um. What just happened?" I asked confused.

"Do you feel anything Jaune?" Weiss asked.

"No. Feel fine. Just worried and confused as to what he just poured on me and Courage." I answered. But as soon as I said that, I began to feel strange. And all of a sudden, a giant eyeball came out of my mouth.

"EW!" Weiss and Ruby said grossed out and in shock.

Turning to Courage, I saw the same thing happened to him. Luckily, it lasted only for another second or two. But it was quickly replaced by making our heads extremely small but our mouths really big. We tried to say something but all that came out was wired sounds that sounds like whining as we opened and closed our mouths. Next, our heads returned to normal. Except our tongues became extremely long and large. And finally, we gain two extra heads.

"Ha, ha, ha." Di Lung laughed.

I tried to say something but was stopped when another transformation happened. This time being our legs changing to long thins legs with stockings on. We tried to keep our balance but almost fall over. Luckily, we changed before we did. From having legs to being a muscled body builder with no shirt and only small underwear.

"Um." Weiss and Ruby said blushing madly.

Then we changed from a body builder to a beaver. But only the body as our heads remained the same. A small log appeared in front of us. And with an impulse we could not control, we began to chew on the log. To reveal that it was not a log but rather a stick of dynamite.

'OOOHHHH!' Courage screamed in terror.

"CAREFUL!" Ruby shouted as she pushed Weiss away. Luckily, the blast wasn't big and only hit us. And turned us back to normal.

"Ow." I moaned in pain.

"I don't think so. I fix." Di Lung said confused.

"What was that supposed to do anyway?" I asked feeling nauseous.

"Change to buffalo." He answered before moving to pour another drop on us.

'NO!' Courage screamed. But it was too later as he poured another drop on us. This time transforming us into flies.

"JAUNE! COURAGE!" Ruby shouted searching for us.

"Where are you two?" Weiss asked.

"Right here." I answered as we flew in front of her.

"Jaune? Courage? You both are flies?" She asked in shock.

"CHANGE THEM BACK!" Ruby demanded.

"I don't think so. One more try." Di Lung said before pouring a drop on Ruby. Transforming her into a fly.

"RUBY!" Weiss shouted as she aimed her weapon at Di Lung. Only to realize that he was already pouring a drop on her. Transforming her as well into a fly.

"I don't think so. Supposed to be buffalo. Don't know how. But I go back and work on problem." Di Lung said before leaving.

"Are you two, okay?" I asked flying over to them. And trying my best to keep calm.

"Mostly. Weirded out. But fine. Least I get to fly." Ruby answered.

"How about you Weiss?" I asked turning to her. Only to see a blank expression on her face. "Weiss?"

"I'm...a...fly." She answered before fainting.

'I got her.' Courage said as he grabbed one of her arms.

"What should we do Jaune?" Ruby asked.

"I have no idea." I answered.

"We have to come up with something. I don't want to be a fly forever." Ruby aid starting to panic.

"Ruby. Calm down. We'll find a way to get back to normal." I told her as I placed my arms on hers. She took a deep breath before finally calming down.

"Okay. But what should we do first?" She asked.

'We should get this one inside before finding help.' Courage answered.

"Right." I agreed.

"Um. Jaune. Care to translate?" Ruby asked confused.

"We should head back inside the house and wait for Weiss to wake up. And then try and find help." I answered.

Nodding, I moved to help Courage before we all headed towards the house. Which took a lot longer considering we were now flies. Knowing we couldn't get into the house since the door was closed, we went around to see if there was another way in. Luckily, there was an open window allowing us to get in. Looking around, we saw Muriel and Eustace sitting in their chairs. Knowing that Eustace wouldn't help, we went quickly over to Muriel and tried to get her attention. But it seemed that she could not hear us.

'Damn. How do we get her attention?' I thought while looking around to see if there was something we could use.

"What happened?" Weiss asked getting our attention. Turning to her, we saw starting to wake up. Courage let go as Weiss started to fly by herself.

"How are you feeling?" Ruby asked.

"A massive headache along with the feeling that something is not right." She answered.

"Well, we did get turned into flies thanks to Di Lung." I told her. She remained silent for a moment before her face turning red from anger.

"I'm going to kill him." She said in a calm but deadly and icy tone.

"But first we need to find a way to get back to normal." I reminded.

"And do we do that?" She asked. But before either of us could answer Eustace shouted getting our attention.

"EECH! A fly. I hate flies. Get of my nose!" He shouted in disgust. Turning to him, we saw that Courage had accidently run into Eustace's nose. Eustace then took out a flyswatter. Something I never thought we would dread or fear. "Well, I got something for you."

"GET AWAY!" I shouted to Courage as we began to fly away from Eustace.

'EEEE!' Courage screeched before managing to get out of the way in time which made Eustace hit himself in the face with the flyswatter. Leaving behind a hilarious mark on his face.

"That was close." I said as Courage came next to us.

"EECH! More flies. No matter. No flies get away from my trusty swatter." Eustace declared as he came closer to us.

"MOVE!" Ruby shouted as we flew away just in time with Eustace pulling off Muriel device that she was using to do her hair and swatted her in the face with the fly swatter.

"EUSTACE! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND!?" Muriel shouted in anger and disbelief.

"Why'd you put your face there. Ugh! Disgusting fly. Can't stand them." Eustace countered before grumbling.

'HMM.' Courage hummed curiously.

"Said something Courage?" I asked turning to him. Only to see him heading towards the bulb of the lamp next to Eustace's chair. "Huh?"

"What are you doing Jaune?" Weiss asked as I flew closer to the bulb. Only to do the same a minute later. With Ruby following suit. Reaching the bulb, we began to repeatedly fly into it for some reason.

"Um, why are we doing this?" Ruby asked as we kept flying into the bulb.

'I don't know why but we apparently like it.' Courage answered which I translated before we resumed flying into the bulb again.

"Never thought this would be enjoyable." Weiss said as we finally stopped flying into the bulb.

"Agreed." We all said.

"SEE HOW THIS FIXES YOU!" Eustace shouted. Turning around, we saw that he had a spray pump filled with something that would most likely kill us.

"AAAHHHH!" We all screamed before zipping in different direction.

"OH! WICKED! ARGH!" Eustace said annoyed as he kept trying to aim for us but was having trouble keeping up with us. After a bit, he fed up and started blasting us with the spray pump. Casting a dense green fog. We managed to avoid it but because Muriel was distracted and he was aiming at her, she started to choke on the fumes.

"YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND!" She shouted mad.

"Big deal." Eustace mocked as he tried to find us.

"This isn't working. We need a way to get Muriel's attention before Eustace seriously harms her in his attempts to get us." Ruby said.

"Maybe a picture could get her attention. Specifically of you both." Weiss suggested.

"That could work. And I knew where we can get one." I said as Courage and I went into the dining room. Heading towards the closet, we opened one of the drawers which held a photo of me and Courage sitting together. We then grabbed the photo and struggled to lift it up. We then flew back into the living room where Muriel was dusting herself off from the chemicals Eustace sprayed in her.

"HA! I GOT YOU THIS TIME!" Eustace shouted. Turning around, we saw him running towards us with some flypaper.

'AAHHH!' Courage screamed as we flew up to avoid the trap. Which caused Eustace to place the flypapers on Muriel's face.

"Muriel. Your face keeps getting the way." He complained as he struggled to get the flypaper off Muriel's face. Which he did but also took Muriel's face with him. "You ruined my good flypaper."

"Eustace. Put my face back where it belongs or it's cold cuts for dinner." Muriel warned him. He then freed Muriel's face from the wallpaper and put it back on her head. Only this time upside down. "Oh, you are cheeky."

"OH... WICKED!" He grumbled as he fixed Muriel's face and put it how it's supposed to be.

"Aah." She sighed in relief. Only to then smack Eustace over the head with a rolling pin.

"OW! What did I do?" Eustace asked dazed before falling back into his chair knocked out.

"The photo did not work. Anyone else have an idea?" I asked.

'I got one.' Courage answered before leaving the room.

Half Hour Later

"I'm not sure what bothers me more. The smell or the fact that the smell is not as putrid as I thought it would be." Weiss said as Courage finished making a statue of himself and me using cow poop.

"Ha, ha, ha." The cow laughed from outside.

"Eustace. What a lovely statue of Courage and Jaune. I didn't know you were talented." Muriel said happy while turning to him.

"What?" Eustace asked confused. Frustrated, we went over to Muriel and began pulling on her apron to try and get her attention. But a bright light coming from behind us got our attention. Turning around, we began to approach it. Which proved to be a mistake.

"AAAHHHH!" We all screamed as we felt electricity course throughout bodies telling us that we touched a bug zapper. Causing us to fall to the ground in pain. "Ow."

"HA, HA, HA! Finally got them." Eustace laughed before raising his foot over us.

"NO!" We screamed as we saw him began to lower his foot.

"SMASH THE FLIES!" He shouted in triumph. We tried to fly away but were too late. Luckily, we survived by flying into the hole that was in Eustace's shoes. But since it was dark, we kept flying in different directions to try and get out. The result of us flying around blindly caused us to inadvertently tickle Eustace making him laugh. Eventually, we managed to get out of Eustace's clothes. "Disgusting flies."

"All in favor of forgetting what just happened say I." I said as we went outside the house to get away from him.

"I." The others said at the same time. But after they answered, we heard some music.

"I didn't know you get Ice Cream trucks all the way out here Jaune?" Ruby asked shocked.

"We don't." I answered as we turned to face where the music was coming from and saw a van pull up not too far. And it was obvious immediately that it was not an ice cream truck. As evident by the satellites sticking out from the top.

"We better check it out." Weiss said. We nodded before heading over to the van and entering through the open window. Inside, we saw some familiar faces in the form of the general and the lieutenant.

"What are they doing here?" I asked worried considering that only bad stuff happens when it comes to them.

"Let's listen." Ruby said as we flew closer but made sure to not get seen.

"General. Satellite coming down." The Lieutenant said.

"Where's it coming down?" The general asked.

"According to calculations. The satellite is going to fall on that house over there." The lieutenant answered while pointing to the screen that showed the farm house.

'Oh, no,' Courage gasped.

"I thought you said no one lives there." The general said annoyed.

"You said that." The lieutenant countered.

"You want me to take back what I said about your socks?" The general asked.

"No sir." The lieutenant answered.

"Well, then." The general said.

"I'll evacuate the house." The lieutenant said getting up but was stopped by the general.

"No, you won't Then people will know about the satellite." He explained.

'Shit.' I thought worried.

"Who lives there?" The general asked while the Lieutenant picked up a folder.

"An old man. His wife. A dog and a kid." The lieutenant answered.

"Who's going to miss them." The general said menacingly.

"We have to warn Muriel and Eustace." I said panicking.

"When's the thing going to hit?" The general asked.

"Uh, five minutes give or take. So, there's no way to save this thing?" The lieutenant asked.

"Nope. Not unless you're tiny. And could fly. And were inside the thing and could change its course." The general answered. "But that ain't going to happen."

"Not likely." The lieutenant added.

"Looks like it's up to us." Weiss said as we flew out of the van.

"Okay. Ruby. You and Courage go back to the house and try to warn Muriel and Eustace. Or at the very least get them out of the house. Weiss and I will see what we can do about the satellite." I told them.

"Roger." Ruby said before flying to the house with Courage right behind her.

"Come on Weiss." I said as we flew up into the sky hoping to spot the satellite and not miss it. Luckily, we didn't miss and were able to get inside quite easily. Only to realize we had no idea how to control this thing.

"Wait there is a book." Weiss said getting my attention. Looking to where she was pointing, we saw a book titled 'Satellites for fools.'

"Convenient." I said as we flew to the book before pulling it off the shelf where it opened up to a random page. Looking it over, I realized I barely was able to understand half of what was written there. "Damn it. Do you understand any of it Wiess?"

"Give me a minute. Little rusty." She answered. Hearing the hatch open, I turned around and saw Courage and Ruby join us.

"Well?" I asked hopeful.

"She didn't understand us and only tried to give us some sugar cubes." Ruby answered.

'How about you guys?' Courage asked.

"Got it." Weiss shouted it.

"You found it?" Ruby asked.

"Yes. We just need to hit the buttons on that control panel in this specific order and it will move the satellite away from the house." She answered.

"It won't stop it?" I asked confused.

"Too late for a complete stop. But this will move it away from the farm house safely." She answered.

"Okay. What's the order then?" Ruby asked as we flew to the panel.

"Purple, red, blue, yellow. Repeat that three times before pulling the lever on the right that's on the floor." She answered.

"Got it." I said we input the command before pulling the lever. Only for the satellite to start spinning uncontrollably.

"I said the lever on the right that is on the floor you dolts." Weiss yelled as she pushed the lever, we pulled back up which caused the satellite to stop spinning.

"Okay." I said as we did again and pulled the correct lever this time. And just in time to as the satellite immediately stopped mere feet from crashing into the house.

"EVERYBODY OUT!" I shouted as I knew the satellite was going to move any second. Not needing to be told twice, the others quickly listened and exited the satellite. Just in time for it to move and crash into the van the general and lieutenant were hiding in.

"Is everyone okay?" Ruby asked as we flew to the house.

"Fine." We answered. Seeing Muriel and Eustace exit the house, we decided to land on Muriel's shoulder. Where she finally noticed us.

"Courage? Kids? Is that you all?" She asked.

"Yes." We answered tired.

"Oh, look Eustace. The kids and Courage are flies." Muriel said turning to Eustace.

"Stupid dog and kid flies." He grumbled.

"Well, let's head back inside." Muriel said turning around.

"Ok. Where's my swatter?" Eustace asked as we entered the house.

"But how could you think about swatting Courage and kids at a time like this?" Muriel asked shocked.

"The only worse than a fly is a dog fly and kid flies." He answered. "Where's my swatter?"

"That satellite almost hit the house." Muriel reminded him.

"Ah, it didn't even come close." Eustace said dismissing her. Only for the ground to start shaking a moment later.

"Uh, oh." We said worried as the shaking intensified. And a moment later the satellite crashed through the living room before heading back up into space. And taking Eustace with it.

"Oh, my." Muriel gasped as Eustace's screams grew fainter the further away, he became.

Eight P.M.

"Stupid dog and kid flies." The faint voice of Eustace shouted as the satellite flew past the house again. We were in the living room watching some television. Muriel was in her chair holding a bowl full of sugar cubes for us to eat.

"Do you think there's a way to get Eustace back down to earth any time soon?" Muriel asked us.

'I don't think so. You fool.' Courage answered before laughing like Di Lung.

"How long do you think we're back to normal?" Weiss asked me and Courage as Ruby was currently passed out from too much sugar.

"Well, I saw Di Lung transform the general and lieutenant into buffalo. But they changed back within a few hours. So maybe soon it's going to wear off." I answered.

"Hope so. I am so done with being a fly." Weiss said annoyed before munching on a sugar cube. I just rolled my eyes and did the same.
