Jaune and Courage the Cowardly Dog

Chap 67: Klub Katz

"The fresh air. The blue sea. The sky forever." Muriel said reading the pamphlet of the vacation cruise we were about to go on.

"Sounds like paradise." Saphron said as she read a similar pamphlet. Next to her was Terra who is watching Courage play with Adrian who was laughing.

"It would be nice to finally have a vacation where we can truly relax and not have to worry about anything." Terra added.

'Maybe for you guys.' I thought as I knew both me and Courage don't handle motion sickness on ships that well.

"Everyone. We're going on vacation." Muriel declared happily.

'Yes!' Courage cheered before leaving the room and coming back a second later with suitcases and dressed up in his tropical clothes.

"Blah, blah, blah. I'm not getting out of this chair." Eustace said annoyed while reading his newspaper.

"That can be arranged." I said as Courage and I nodded to each other.

Next Day

"Nope. Not getting out of this chair." Eustace said again. Not realizing that he was already on the ship.

'B-22.' The announcer on the P.A. system said.

"B-22. Oh, my yes." Muriel said as she stamped the correct number on her bingo sheet. "Now wasn't this a wonderful idea?"

"It sure is." Terra said as she also stamped the correct spot on her bungo sheet.

"Not getting out of this chair." Eustace said again.

"You okay baby brother?" Saphron asked as she rocked a sleeping, Adrian.

"Not really." I struggled to answer while not vomiting all over the side of the ship. Courage was next to me and not fairing that much better.

"Didn't you take the medicine I made for you two?" Muriel asked worried.

"We did." I answered. As I said this, Courage turned green while barely managing to keep the vomit in his mouth. He managed to swallow it only for it to come back up a second later with a vengeance. Not being able to hold it, he ran off somewhere to throw up. Unfortunately, he chose to vomit in something that lead directly to the interior of the ship. More specifically, towards the engine room.

"Hopefully that doesn't cause any problems." Saphron said wincing a bit at how much Courage vomited. Though, as she said this, I felt my stomach churn as well.

'Dear Oum. Making the rocking stop.' I mentally prayed as the ship rocked some more.

'Ha, ha, ha.' Courage laughed as he turned back to his normal pink color. Turning to him, I was about to ask him if he was okay but couldn't as my eyes widen in shock at seeing a giant iceberg heading straight for us.

'SHIT!' I thought as I quickly stood up. My Nausea momentarily forgotten.

"Everything al right Jaune?" Terra asked. But before I could answer, the captain did for me.

"ICEBERG! ON STARBOARD BOW! MAYDAY! MAYDAY!" He shouted as he ran past all of us. "EVERYONE! TO THE LIFEBOATS!"

'AH!' Courage gasped in fear as he jumped onto Muriel's chair.

"Oh, my." Muriel gasped while Terra and Saphron held each other. Adrian still sound asleep in their arms.

"Not getting out of this chair." Eustace complained completely unaware of everything that was happening.

"HANG ON EVERYONE!" I shouted as the ship crashed into the iceberg. But to our surprise, and relief, the ship went up the iceberg as if it was a ramp before going back into the water.

"No damage. As you were." The captain said calmly as he walked past us.

"Is everyone okay?" I asked as the ship started to move again.

"We're fine baby bro." Saphron answered.

"Aside from the giant scare that is." Terra added.

"Muriel?" I asked turning to her.

"I'm fine dear." She answered.

'That was too close.' Courage said as he hopped of Muriel's chair.

"Yeah. It was." I agreed as I tried to catch my breath.

"Hey sleepyhead." Saphron said. Turning to her, we saw that Adrian was waking up with an adorable yawn.

'O-16.' The man on the P.A. system said the next number.

"BINGO!" Muriel shouted.

'YES!' Courage cheered.

"Damn. So close. Well, that was a good game." Terra said as she threw down the bingo sheet in frustration yet had a smile on her face.

"Don't worry dear. You'll win next time." Saphron said as she gave Terra a kiss on the lips. But the moment was ruined when the captain screamed again while the alarms blared.

"TIDAL WAVE! ABANDON SHIP!" He shouted as he put on a life jacket before jumping off the side of the ship.

'Oh, crap.' I thought feeling a chill go down my spine as we saw a giant tidal wave head towards us.

"HANG ON!" I shouted as we grabbed what we could to avoid being flung off the ship once the tidal wave reached us.

"No sir. Not getting out of this chair." Eustace said as he was flung off the ship by the tidal wave.

'Oum help us.' I thought as the ship capsized.

Half an Hour Later

'Oh, thank Oum we made it.' I thought as I laid down on the warm sand. After the ship was capsized, we managed to get back to the surface and found refuge the wall that used to be part of room. Getting on, we slowly drifted in the water before eventually coming to an island.

"I told you I didn't want to go. Not look where we are. And where's my chair?" Eustace complained.

'Cares more about the chair than his own life.' I thought as I sat up. Looking around, I saw Muriel was sitting down an enjoying some tea she somehow still had. Saphron and Terra were not too far off and were simply basking in each other's warmth while watching Adrian make sand castles.

"Eustace. Would you forget the chair and have a cup of tea?" Muriel asked as she took a sip of her tea, Smiling, I looked around and saw that Courage somehow had his head stuck in the sand.

"I got you Courage." I said as I freed him from the sand before wiping off some sand the was still on his head.

'Thanks.' He said before shaking himself clean.

"The fresh air. The blue sea. The sky forever." Muriel said clearly enjoying herself despite what just happened.

"Blah, blah, blah. Where's my chair?" Eustace complained.

"While not how we intended on starting a vacation, at least the island we landed on seems tropical and weather will be like this for the next couple of days. Might as well enjoy our time here until we can find a way off." Saphron said as she and Terra continued to watch Adiran make sand castles.

'Well, we better start searching the shore for anything that washed ashore that could help us.' Courage said as he looked around for anything that could be used.

"And we also should see if we could find anything for shelter as the sun is going down." I added as I looked towards the sun and saw that it was starting to set.

Two Hour later

'So glad I took whittling and survival class.' I thought as I carved some wood into a mini figure of Iris while watching the fire, I made roar with life. Giving us warmth and protecting us against the cold.

Muriel and Eustace were sleeping soundly with some giant leaves we found to use as blankets. Saphron and Terra were cuddled against each other. A smile on their faces while Adrian is in between them sleeping while sucking his thumb. Unlike Muriel and Eustace, they were sleeping in a makeshift hammock I made for them using some tarps and tree leaves I found. Courage and I scoured along the shore line but found nothing of ours. Just some broken parts of the ship and a durable plastic knife the Courage was currently using to carve faces into the coconuts.

"Get some sleep Courage. I'll keep watch." I told him noticing that he was getting tired.

'All right. But wake me up in a bit so you can get some sleep as well.' He said putting down the coconut before laying down and going to sleep.

'Hello darkness my old friend. I've come to talk to you again.' I mentally sang as I grabbed the knife and began to carve the coconuts so that we can have some for-breakfast tomorrow. Along with saving the water in them to drink. Seeing the fire start to go out, I went to pour some more wood in it to keep it alive.

Next Day

'Should have gotten some sleep.' I thought as I added some more wood to the fire.

Currently, it was roughly eight in the morning. I had not slept one bit as I stayed up to make sure everyone was safe throughout the entire night. Durning the night however, I wondered how I was going to serve the food to the others and warm up the coconut milk for Adrian. Luckily, the answer came when a few pots, plates and utensils washed ashore. Washing them to make sure they were safe to use, I began to warm up the milk while wondering if there was anything else I could add to the coconut. Looking around, I saw some fruits that are safe to eat that I could use to make coconut fruit salad.

'I thought I told you to wake me up so you could get some sleep.' Courage said stretching.

"You know how I am." I countered. Looking up, I saw the others waking up as well. "Morning."

"Morning Jaune." Saphron and Terra said fighting through a yawn. Adrian letting out an adorable yawn as well while rubbing his eyes.

"Morning Jaune. Sleep well?" Muriel asked.

"Yes." I lied. "Also made everyone breakfast."

"YES. I'm starving." Saphron said getting up from the hammock.

"Did you find something for Adrian?" Terra asked.

"Yup. Coconut milk." I answered while pointing to the pot that held the warm milk.

"Let's dig in them." Saphron said as she walked over and I hand her a plate. The others arriving and sitting down with me handing each of them a plate as well.

Half hour later

"Oh, that was delicious." Saphron said as she finished her food.

"Who knew you could cook so well." Terra said as she finished feeding Adrian his food.

"Thanks, dear." Muriel said as well while smiling.

"You're welcome. Well, we best rest a bit before trying to find a way off this island." I said standing up.

"Why? Desperate to get back to see your fiancé?" Saphron teased. I blushed at this and was about to respond but stopped when we heard footsteps coming towards us. Turning around, Courage and I saw the familiar face of Katz.

"OOH!" Muriel gasped when she saw him.

"Eh?" Eustace asked confused.

"Hello. Welcome to Klub Katz. I'm Katz. Your host." Katz told us.

"Host for what?" Terra asked not trusting him.

"Hello. I'm Muriel. And this is my husband Eu-" Muriel began but was cut off.

"Where's my chair?" Eustace asked. "What kind of club you running?"

"A resort. Five stars." Katz answered.

"Oh, we're going to have our vacation after all." Muriel said smiling.

"I doubt this is going to be a vacation." Saphron whispered to me. Her eyes never leaving Katz as she and Terra pulled Adrian closer to them.

"Your accommodation awaits. Can I help you with your luggage?" Katz asked.

"We don't have any. Shipwrecked, you know." Muriel answered.

"Pity." Katz said annoyed. "Please follow me to where you will be staying."

"All right." Muriel said as she and Eustace immediately began to follow him.

"You met this cat before?" Terra asked.

"A couple of times. And each time he tried to kill me and Courage." I answered.

"We better watch ourselves then." Saphron said already angry at Katz.

'Careful. Katz is no fool and is very shifty. Always having something up his sleeve.' Courage warned as we ran to catch up with the others. Reaching them, we saw that Katz led us to a hut. Getting there, he gave each of us a robe and some drinks in the form of coconuts with straws in them.

"You must be wiped out from your excruciating experience." Katz began but was cut ff by Eustace.

"Where's my chair?" He asked.

"At this point, I'm wondering why doesn't he just marry his chair." Terra said annoyed.

"Please join me for a relaxing visit to our spa." Katz offered trying to hide his annoyance at Eustace. "You will feel transformed."

'Yuck.' Courage said after sniffing his drink a bit. He then left the hut. Leaning to the side, I saw him go up to the vending machine that was just outside.

"So, don't go to the spa." Terra said already figuring out that Katz meant what he said literally.

"Oh, that sounds lovely." Muriel said as she and Eustace got up. She turned to us. "Will you three be joining us?"

"No, thank you." Saphron answered.

"We'll be back later then." Muriel told us as she and Eustace followed Katz out the hut.

'AAHHHH!' Courage suddenly screamed outside.

"Better check this out." I said getting up.

"We're coming too." Saphron said as she and Terra got up and followed me outside where we saw Courage trying to warn Muriel about something. But as usual, she didn't understand.

"Oh, Courage. You're just in time to join us at the spa." She told him.

'NO, NO, NO!' He said panicking.

"If you rather sunbathe, that's fine too." Muriel said before continuing to follow Eustace and Katz.

'Oh.' Courage whined.

"What happened?" I asked him.

'Saw the captains face on a vending machine.' He answered.

"You mean like a poster or something?" Terra asked confused.

'No, his actual face on the vending machine. And he was warning us that terrible things happen here.' He answered.

"Still not too sure what you mean." Saphron said scratching her head.

"I have an idea. Follow me. Quickly." I said before running towards where Katz was taking Muriel and Eustace. Getting there, we saw them entering a giant hut that had a spa sign on it.

"I'm sorry. No dogs allowed." Katz said noticing us catching up. He then put on a sad face that we saw through easily. "Resort rules I'm afraid."

'OH!' Courage shouted worried and scared.

"My kind of spa." Eustace said before taking out a leash and putting it on Courage before tying the other end to a palm tree.

"Will you be joining them?" Katz asked turning to us.

"No. Just came to make sure they arrived safely." I quickly answered. Though, Katz saw through this and knew we were on to him. As evident by his smile before opening the door and gesturing for Muriel and Eustace to enter.

"Stupid dog." Eustace insulted before entering the spa. And as soon as they did, we immediately heard them scream in terror and pain.

'It's Muriel. She's in trouble.' Courage said while struggling to get himself free from the leash.

"We have to get in there and help them." I said as I freed Courage from his leash.

"Might be a little late for that bro." Saphron said sounding shocked.

"Why is that?" I asked. She merely pointed to the side of the spa where we saw Katz wheeling away a laundry machine. I was confused but quickly realized what happened, Katz somehow turned Muriel into a washing machine.

"Muriel." I said shocked at what I was seeing.

"COURAGE! JAUNE! HELP!" She shouted as Katz wheeled her away. I was about to run up to her but stopped when we heard what sounded like a vehicle going by. Soon, Eustace appeared and revealed to us that Katz turned him into a wrecking ball.

'AAHHH!' Courage screamed in terror.

"Come on. We have to find out where he's taking them." I said as we ran after them.

After a couple minutes of chasing them, we found that Katz brought them to what appeared to be an abandoned colosseum that Katz remodeled for some reason. We tried to follow them into the colosseum but couldn't as the gate closed before we could enter. Looking around, we saw that there was no other entrance aside from climbing up the vines that were growing on the sides.

"We'll be back." I said as Courage and I began to climb using the vines.

"Be careful." Terra warned. I was about to say something but was cut off when we heard Katz voice on a speaker.

"Welcome to another evening of fine entertainment at Klub Katz." He announced.

"Hurry." I told Courage as we began to climb faster up the wall. Reached the top, we saw Katz in the stands with a microphone announcing what was to come.

"Tonight, for your enjoyment. Eustace, the wrecking ball." Katz declared before pointing to gate that opened to allow Eustace to enter the colosseum.

"Ha, ha, ha." Eustace laughed as his head swung a bit. Looking around, we saw tons of scrap metal which told us we were not the first ones here.

"And the opponent. Muriel. The washing machine." Katz announced as Muriel was raised to the surface from underground.

"Oh, my." She gasped at seeing what was going on.

'OH!' Courage screamed in horror.

"He changed this back into a gladiator match." I said finally realizing this as the match began.

"Eustace. You're really going over the line here." Muriel said disappointed as Eustace tried to hit her.

"I can't help it. I'm a wrecking ball. I can wreck." He countered smugly.

"Isn't that cheeky. And I suppose you'll be wanting your laundry done as well." Muriel said upset before ducking to avoid getting hit.

'AAHHH!' Courage screamed in terror.

"What's happening in there?" Terra shouted to us.

"Come on." I told Courage as we began to climb down. Getting down, we began to explain to the others on what we just saw. Needless to say, they were shocked at what they were seeing.

"Oh my." They gasped.

'What do we do? What do we do?' Courage asked panicking.

"Spa." Adrian said waking up.

"That could work." I said.

"What could work?" Saphron asked.

"If that spa that Katz took Muriel and Eustace to turned them into a washing machine and wrecking ball. Maybe it could turn one of us into something that could possibly save Muriel and get us out of here." I answered.

"Possibly. But who is willing to go through with the transformation?" Terra asked. At this, Courage let out a big sigh.

'Sometimes a dogs gotta do what a dogs gotta do. And I'm the only dog here.' He said.

"You sure about this Courage?" I asked him.

'Not really. But anything to save Muriel.'He answered.

"Okay. Let's do this." I said as we rushed back to where the spa was.

Though, we did stop by the vending machine from earlier which claimed had the captains face. And true to his word, the captains face was part of the vending machine. Though, we did take a drink from him anyway as we were getting thirsty from all this running. After finishing our drinks, we ran the rest of the way to the spa. Getting there, Courage went inside the hut. Almost immediately, screaming and almost inhumane sounds were heard. A moment later however, Courage came out in his new form. This one being a pink helicopter.

'I know I'm not going to like this.' He said as he lowered himself to the ground so we could get on his sides.

"Come on Courage. We have to hurry. We all know how Eustace is." I reminded him. He gave a hum of agreement before flying us back to the colosseum. Getting there, we saw that Muriel was pretty banged up. But she managed to trap Eustace's head inside her.

"Oh, I love a good family brawl." We heard Katz said while clapping. But he stopped when he heard us coming.

'Muriel. We'll save you.' Courage called out as he flew closer to her.

"Oh, thank goodness." Muriel said in relief.

"Stupid helicopter dog." Eustace complained.

"Hang on Muriel." I shouted as me and Terra finish attaching a magnet to the crane part.

"Hey that's my washing machine." Katz called out to us as we left.

Courage then lowered to Muriel where she got stuck to the magnet. Once she was secured, Courage began to retract the crane. Just in time as Eustace tried to hit her again. Once fully retracted, we flew away from the colosseum and the island. Though, as we left the island, we did hear Eustace curse at Katz when he discovered that Katz had found and was using his chair. Needless to say, Eustace began destroying everything in sight. And judging by the sounds of cursing, we can say with confidence that he also broke his chair as well.

"This is fine and all. But where are we going to land? We don't even know where we are." Saphron asked. Luckily, as soon as she said this, we heard the horn of a ship nearby. Looking over there, we saw another cruise ship in the distance. Not needing to be told, Courage immediately flew over to the ship. Getting there, we freed Muriel from the magnet so Courage can land on the ship as well.

One Hour Later

"I'm glad we finally got to take our family vacation." Muriel said as we enjoyed the silence and the sun set. Well, everyone except me and Courage as we were starting to feel sea sick. "Too bad Eustace couldn't join us."

"Yeah. Too bad." Saphron said with Terra nodding agreement. But you could easily tell they were happy he wasn't here with us.

"Courage. Jaune. You don't look so well." Muriel said getting Saphron and terra's attention.

"Look who's talking." I said as I leaned next to Courage. Both of us on the verge of throwing up.

'Not the best vacation. Still was nice to spend the time with Saphron, Terra and Adrian.' I thought swallowing my vomit while Courage threw up over the side of the ship. Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out the wooden carving of Iris I made. 'Hopefully she likes it.'
