This was a request by OptimisticEmotion and I thought it'd be fun. Kinda was. Enjoy!
Dick-14 Jason-11 Cass-9 Timmy-7
Zombies ATTACK!
It was Halloween time and everyone was getting ready for the party. Timmy was already dressed up as Harry Potter and waiting for the others to finish in the foyer. Alfred was helping Cass with her costume and makeup and Dad was taking care of something for the League last minute. It was rather boring waiting for everyone to be done so they could leave, have dinner, and get candy.
Sighing, the boy swung his feet beneath him and watched the jack-o-lantern they made just two days ago glowing cheerfully. It was cooler to watch it in the dark, so he turned out the lights to get a better show. Jason could be a real jerk, but he was good with his hands. Why didn't he do more things like this one?
Lost in the magic of the fire behind the vegetable's skin, he didn't notice anything or anyone for a long time. Then he heard it, the unmistakable creaking of a board. Catching his attention, Timmy looked towards the sound curiously. There were no creaking boards in the manor. Alfred made certain of it. And Daddy said they were a safety hazard. Where did that sound come from? "Hello?"
Another creak, almost identical to the first, was his answer. A chill went up the kid's spine. "Alfred? Is that you?"
"Uuuhhrrrr..."
The moan was followed by a loud stomp, a dragging noise, and another moan. "Uuurrrrrhhhh..."
"Jason?!" Panic started growing in the boy's throat as he tried to rationally explain what was going on. Maybe it was Jason being creepy again. He'd been trying to scare him all week with scary masks and noises. Lots of ghost stories were being told around the manor, many of them about big empty houses like theirs were some times. Most of the time Timmy managed to ignore them, but right then all the stories returned to his mind. "Is that you?"
"Brrr... Brrraaaaiinnnsss..." The voice was growly and rough, barely understandable to the lad's ears. More shuffling came towards him, making him shake in fear. That sounded like... "Brraaaiiinnnnsss..."
"This isn't funny!" he cried, on his feet and trying to find the source in the darkness. He darted over to the light switch to get a better look of things, but a rubber band snapped his hand just before contact. "Jason!"
"Brrraaaaiiinnnsssss..."
"CUT IT OUT!" A shuffling figure came out of the gloom, the shadows from the lanterns warping the image before him. A raggedy, grey and scabby Jason-like figure ghosted into his sight. It was almost as if Jason was a three day rotting corpse, fresh from the grave. His eyes even had a yellowing glow as he came closer from the shadows. He did not look alive at all. A terrified squeak came from the little boy. "Jason?"
It's arms stretched towards the kid, focusing his attention on him. "Braaaaaiiiiinnnnsssss..."
"DADDY!" Not waiting another second, Timmy ran as fast as he could past the zombie and towards where the study had to be. Why did they turn off so many lights?! A few seconds later, he slammed blindly right into another figure. Though bigger than the zombie after his brain, it was definitely not Dad. Looking up, he could barely make out the scabby, greying figure met his gaze. Another zombie?
"Timmy? What's wrong?"
"AAAAAAAAHHHH!" Ignoring the concern in the voice, the lad pushed away and kept on running. He didn't hear his other brother calling out to him or the rapid laughter further away. He just kept running while in tears, hoping to find the one who could get rid of the zombies before they took over the world and ate his brain! "HELP!"
"What the... Timmy!"
Darting towards the lit parts of the manor, he spotted Cass coming down the stairs, dressed as a shinto priestess. Alfred was probably helping Dick or cleaning up or getting his gun to kill the zombies. Relieved to see her at least, he ran to her side for protection. "Cass! There's... There's Zombies! They're attacking!"
"What?" She held onto him for a moment as he tried to get the message out. It didn't make a lot of sense.
"Zombies! In the foyer! They want brains! Stop them!"
"Zombies?" Cass looked up and spotted something beyond him, hearing some loud debate going on from where Timmy came from. "They are not real."
"Yes they are!" The boy looked up to her tearfully. "I just saw them!"
"Tim. Halloween."
"Solomon Grundy's a zombie! They're real!"
"Jason likes pranks," she reminded him.
"But they're here!" He would not be convinced so easily this time.
Sighing heavily, she set the boy on the stairs and looked him in the eye. "Stay here. I will handle the zombies."
"Can you?" Timmy sniffed, eyes begging. He knew from Jason that the only way to stop a zombie was to kill it, and that was pretty gruesome.
She nodded. "Should not take long. Stay here. Wait for Dad and Alfred."
"Be careful!" He called after her when she took off to where he just left. Anxiously, the boy waited, watching the darkness and listening intently to any signs that it was safe. There were definitely sounds coming from there. Mostly it sounded like every one of Cass' sparring matches with Jason, and even the occasional ones with Dick. A few surprised yelps and something that sounded like people being thrown into a couch over there or something made him blink in surprise. There was a small loveseat in that area. Was it okay? And where were their brothers? Were they okay? Or did they turn into zombies?
"Timmy?" He looked up at his name and leapt to his feet, hugging his dad in relief. "What's- Ah!"
"Daddy!" Gripping the man's waist tightly and ignoring the Lord of the Rings costume he wore, Timmy held on tightly and rapidly explained everything. "I was waiting in the foyer and watching the pumpkins when a zombie came up and tried to eat my brains! I tried to turn on the lights and make it go away when it hit me with something so I ran away and ran into another zombie and ran again and then found Cass! Now she's fighting zombies on her own and I think she's winning!"
"Cassandra's fighting zombies?" Some skepticism in his voice.
"Uh huh! She's really tough! Zombies can't even beat her!"
"Right..." A thought and a look like Cass' earlier crossed his face as he looked the boy over. "Do you know where Jason and Dick are?"
"Still getting dressed?" He honestly hadn't thought about that all the way through. The idea of there being zombies in the house was enough to freak him out.
"Uh huh... Come on." Reaching down, Bruce picked up the kid and propped him on his hip before heading back to the foyer. He just saw Alfred getting the car so he knew everyone was done getting ready. As he went, he turned on the lights, eliminating the horrible possibilities beyond. A few minutes later, he saw the sight he expected.
Cass' costume was readjusting her costume after a brief fight with her older brothers, glaring sharply at Jason. Said boy was propped upside down against the wall, on top of the small loveseat , his zombie costume even more of a wreck then when he put it together. Dick was trying to fix hair and straighten his cooler zombie get up, something of a group costume he and some classmates put together that week. One was sheepish while the other was just stunned. The girl was peeved.
"Prank."
Their dad nodded, his eyes on the zombie brothers. Timmy just gaped at them; now seeing them in proper lighting, they were clearly just pretending to be zombies. They were trying to scare him! Now mean! Seeing the youngest's pout and their dad's glare, Dick threw his hands into the air defensively. "I was NOT a part of this! I am an innocent bystander. Jason was pulling the joke and we just happen to have the same costume and Timmy saw me right after he got scared so he didn't listen to me and-"
"Enough." Pinching the bridge of his nose, Bruce sighed. This could not keep happening. Glaring at Jason, he decided to set some more ground rules. "Jason, you have to stop scaring your brother like this. He's not a toy to play with. You're likely to traumatize him at this rate."
"But he reacts so well!" Jason finally started righting himself, grinning a bit. "Pranks are no fun if-"
"I don't care!" His eyes narrowed dangerously on the lad, driving the point home. "Halloween is supposed to be fun for everyone, especially little kids. No more terrorizing Timmy just for kicks, got it?"
Rolling his eyes, the trouble maker murmured. "Got it."
"Good. Now as for costumes-"
"We can't change now!" Dick insisted. "It took forever to put these together and get them on!"
"In the future," Bruce corrected, "no creepy costumes. That means no zombies, mummies, Frankenstein's monsters, werewolves, serial killers, or excessive demons. I don't want any more nightmares because of your pranks."
"Vampires are good?" The teen asked, cocking his head to the side. It was left out and it made everyone curious.
Their dad shrugged. "Very few are considered scary. Unless they sparkle. Jason, any candy you get tonight goes to Timmy."
"No fair!" Jason immediately shouted, thinking the way he always did. Timmy got everything and he got nothing, just because he was the smallest.
"It's either you give up your candy to him or you stay home tonight helping Alfred scrub the bathrooms and oven clean. Your choice. Either way, no sugar for you."
Hearing the ultimatum, the lad pouted and folded his arms, glaring at the tyke he scared witless just a few minutes ago. The big baby was still clinging to Daddy too. After a moment, his shoulder slumped and he gave in. Bad enough he was beaten by his sister, again, but now he was getting candy for the big baby who would take forever eating what little they did get. "Fine..."
"Good. Now, I want you to apologize to him then everyone needs to be in the car. Timmy." Carefully he let the boy drop to the ground to take care of what had been done. Everyone seemed to be on edge, ready to help if need be or make sure things went well instead of heading to the car.
As the two of them shook hands and started talking again, Dick glared at Cass. "Did you have to throw me too? I didn't do anything!"
"You did not stop him."
"Can you?" With that retort, Cass could only shrug. Sighing heavily, he shook his head. "Well at least we know who to call for a zombie apocalypse."
A/N: OptimisticEmotion wanted a fic where Jason and Dick pranked Timmy into believing they were zombies. I took it a step further and had Cass save the day. Lots of fun really. I'm thinking of doig an easter themed one soon too. Anywho, hope you've liked another issue of very gullible timmy!
