The Master examined his conscripted troops with a critical eye. There were just over a hundred of them now and he was going to need every one of them. He could see the fear and resentment in their faces, but he would use that. He had lost several of his Decepticons to the Borg – Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Thundercracker, Dirge, Ramjet, SpyGlass, Spectro and ViewFinder. Soundwave and Ravage were currently being repaired. Other than that, only one of his Human fighters were injured – The Toyman, who guaranteed that he could still use his remote-control defenses against the Borg.

"Mistakes were made, and those careless fools have cost us," the evil Time Lord said to those listening. "We were able to gain the upper hand though and hold back the Borg. Now we must finish them."

He motioned to the two towers that they had built. A third was under construction on the edge of the range of the other antenna towers, but it had to be discontinued due to long range attacks by the Borg. "These radio towers effectively block the Borg Collective from controlling their drones within eight hundred yards of them. Therefore, we have a base from which to work. More of these devices are being built. The plan is simple. The Constructicons will come together to take on their Devastator form and will carry one of the signal blockers to the Borg nest while the rest of us wipe out the guideless drones. Giganta will carry another signal blocker and approach from the rear, thus cutting off their escape."

"What about the tunnels?" pointed out Cobra Commander. "They could get out that way."

"That's why you will have to be quick. Otherwise, you'll have to go down after them."

Nobody liked hearing that. Luthor and Skeletor glanced at each other and then Luthor nodded to Brainiac who was monitoring one of the control panels for the antennas.

A large circle of purple-ish blue lights swirling together began to form at the base of both towers.

"What is this?" demanded the Master. "An attack?"

"Reinforcements," said Luthor. They watched as people of various sizes and shapes, not to mention outlandishly dressed, began leaping through the small wormholes and onto the grass.

"I didn't authorize this!"

Luthor eyed him coldly. "Your time of authorizing things around here are about to end, Master."

"We'll see about that!" fumed the Time Lord, as he followed after Luthor, who had gone to greet the newcomers.

They were not an organized lot as they spread out to see the new locale. "These are some of the most dangerous villains you will ever meet," said Luthor. Captain Cold came over to join them. "We used the antenna to send a secondary signal to contact some of our acquaintances and asked them to join us here. Captain Cold told us how to contact some of his occasional partners in crime among the Rogues, such as his sister - the Golden Glider, and the Mirror Master. They organized everyone else to come."

A woman in a gold outfit skated on thin air slid down to them and gave Captain Cold a big hug. "I'll say we did! We heard Batman and Robin were in Africa, so we even caused a huge breakout at Arkham Asylum, too! Only took a few of them with us though."

Luthor stiffened at that bit of news. "You didn't bring that insufferable clown, did you?"

For his answer a white-faced man with grin hair, a large grin loudly discussing the most lethal ways to use a rubber chicken to the Trickster and anyone else that would listen. Luthor groaned. "Well, except for him you seem to have a strong team." He started flipping through the pages. "Captain Boomerang, yes, he has all those trick-boomerangs of his. Catman, a wanna-be Batman contender. Catwoman…I guess we can trust here since Batman isn't around. She can be quite a hellcat when she wants to. Cavalier." He frowned wondering what a swordsman is going to do against the Borg. "Cannon fodder."

Continuing on he said, "Circe… The Circe the enchantress from Greek mythology? Impressive. Clayface, a powerful shapeshifter, yes, he'll do just fine. Copperhead, a contortionist assassin. I've seen his work and was impressed even if it was rather grotesque." He tapped the paper when he looked at the next name. "Deadshot… We'll have to make sure he's armed with something that the Borg can't deflect. A man like him, sufficiently armed, could take out a small army." He paused at the next name. "Deathstroke the Terminator… I've heard quite a bit about this mercenary. Hope he's as good as everyone says. Dr. Alchemy, able to transmute things into other elements with the Philosopher's Stone. I wonder how close he has to get to transmute something, and does it stay transmuted? Hmm, I'll have to check on that." He went to the next page. "Dr. Light, hmm, I've read some of Light's research papers. Brilliant scientist, but something of a joke as a super-villain. Maybe he can put some weapons together for us. Yes, some type of laser gun for Deadshot for a start."

"Dr. Psycho. An unstable egomaniac telepath. He'll fit right it as long as he doesn't try to mess with any of our minds. Felix Faust. Good, I may not trust magic, but I don't think the Borg will be able to defend against it. Floronic Man. He'll have plenty to work with in this jungle setting. Golden Glider: lots of gimmicks the Borg won't know about. Hector Hammond? Maybe he can do something about the Borg Collective that keeps them together. I'll have him work on that with the other telepaths. The Joker…maybe he can sow discord from inside the Borg Collective." The thought of dropping the Joker off in the midst of a group of drones put a smile on his face for a brief moment.

"Kanjar Ro? How the hell did you get a hold of him? He's an alien despot. Oh, I see. He'd just been captured by those Super-do-gooders, but turned over to the local police while they had to deal with another crisis."

He went on with perusing through the papers. "The Key: uses key-shaped weapons for his shtick. Killer Moth, a Batman thug dressed in an extremely bad costume. Mad Hatter, a psychotic obsessed with hats, which are often used as house mind-control devices." He mentally listed the three as cannon fodder. "Major Disaster. He can be quite a wild card, and if I'm right, a good part of the disasters his powers cause, he has little control over. Could be as dangerous for us as for the enemy." He stopped in surprise at the next name. "Metallo. This one I know well. There may not be a Superman for his kryptonite heart to be used against, but his super-strong robotic body should be useful on its own."

He turned the page. "Mirror Master. Good, he has a remarkable range of trick mirrors. Mister Freeze. Another Batman foe and uses a freeze gun, like Captain Cold. Ought to be good. Ocean Master. I don't have much information on him, but Black Manta has spoken well of him. Hopefully he can fight on land as well as he does in the sea."

He shood his head at the next one. "The Penguin. I just hope he brought a useful trick umbrella, otherwise he's going to be a dead bird. Maybe Doctor Light can set him up with a better weapon, too." He sighed wishing they hadn't just grabbed everyone they could, and instead have aimed for more of the talented powerhouses. "Let's see. The Pied Piper: he could prove interesting since he's been able to hold off the Flash on several occasions. Poison Ivy, controls plants. Hopefully she can work with the Floronic Man to use the jungle vegetation around here. Queen Bee, she has some interesting alien technology that could be useful. And she might have some ideas about breaking up the Collective Mind of the Borg. Shadow Thief: able to turn himself into a shadow-like intangible wraith. Hmm, he would make a good spy for running surveillance. Sonar. He has sound-based weapons that he has used on the Green Lantern. And if they worked on him, his weapons should also work on the Borg. Star Sapphire, another villain who is able to contend with the Green Lantern, excellent. Tattooed Man, another wildcard with his trick tattoos that can become real. Terra-Man, a glorified space-cowboy. Ah, T.O. Morrow, finally, another person I can run ideas by and also have working on some of our extra projects. He built that Red Tornado android a few years back to infiltrate the ranks of the Justice Society on Earth-2, but the android was sentient and rebelled against his programming and was able to help defeat its creator, Morrow, with the help of the Super-Friends, or Justice League as they now want to be called. From what my spy cameras saw, Red Tornado would have stayed and joined the Justice League, except the do-gooders already had the wind creating Samurai in their ranks. So he went back to Earth-2."

He turned the page and frowned. "Trickster?" He looked to Captain Cold. "Please tell me he's more than an air-walking jester that he makes himself out to be."

Captain Cold frowned. "He can be a bit of an annoying clown – not to the Joker's extent; he's actually milder than our teammate, the Toyman – but to his merit, Trickster has captured and gotten away from the Flash on many a crime spree."

"Very well," grimaced Luthor, who was not a fan of clowns. "Next is… Two-Face. Not sure what good he'll be, but he's here so I guess that is one more to our side. Plus, he's gone against the Batman. Not an easy thing for anyone."

"I can vouch for the next one," commented Captain Cold as Luthor turned to the next page.

"Weather Wizard. Makes formidable changes in the weather with his wand. Yes, he'll do as well."

"As you can see, there's quite a few of us," said the Mirror Master. "Managed to get most of us that go against the Flash on a regular basis and then everyone else that we could get a hold of."

Luthor grinned. "You did well."

Luthor looked up as someone else approached. "Ah, my counterpart from Earth-2. Alexei Luthor."

The other man, a redhead, scowled. "Any Earth I am on should be considered Earth-1!" he challenged.

"I didn't name them. I think the designations were determined by the two Flashes from our worlds with a coin toss."

The redheaded man ignored the explanation. "This venture had better pan out. The people I brought with me are expecting results." He handed him a folder containing the relevant info on those that had accompanied him.

The first was Baron Blitzkrieg, a golden armored Nazi who was endowed with powers during World War II. "Basically, he's a weaker version of Superman, but with quite an ego." The next page amused him. "The Blue Snowman is actually a bulky dressed woman with a device that creates blue snow. A foe of your Earth's Wonder Woman. Well, hopefully she has a few more tricks in her arsenal. I'll have Captain Cold gauge her ability later to see have effective she is." He nodded at the next page. "Brain Wave, yes." The page went on to describe him as a powerful telepath in a short, bald weak body, but preferred to project a taller, more athletic image over himself. Then there was the Cheetah. "Another Cheetah. Still, if she is anything like the one I know, she will more than prove her worth."

"Ah, Deathbolt. I can work with a man like this." He was an electrically powered killer who preferred to hire himself out for assassinations. Next was Doctor Poison, another woman who dressed in bulky clothes to disguise herself as a man, when in actuality she was Princess Maru, the leader of a Japanese spy ring during World War II, and constant nemesis to her world's Wonder Woman. "Not sure if her poisons will be effective against the Borg, but if not, she'll not be around long."

"Hmm, the Dummy, an actual wooden ventriloquist's dummy with a mobster mentality. It would be interesting to study if we didn't have everything else going on right now. And it can't seem to perceive himself as a living manikin." Next was, "Eviless, a slave-driving woman from Saturn. No powers, but setting herself against a more powerful woman like Wonder Woman has forced her to become a formidable adversary, like myself with Superman."

Next was the Fiddler, who can control people with the music of his violin. Why a virtuoso with the violin would accept a moniker like the Fiddler was beyond Lex. The Gambler, dressed as a glorified 1800's riverboat cardplayer with many trick gadgets. The Gentleman Ghost, possibly a real specter, who has somehow managed to sometimes be on Earth-1 and sometimes on Earth-2. The Huntress, a formidable killer who had started out as a heroine, but was getting to be a bit old to be running around in such skimpy outfits, regardless of how fit she was, at least in Lex's opinion. The Icicle, another cold villain similar to Captain Cold, was armed with just a freezing gun.

He turned the page and was instantly furious. "You brought another Joker with you? Are you mad?" Luthor almost went for his gun to kill both Jokers. No, seeing the smirking face of the Master, Luthor decided he'd have the two clowns of crime guarding for the Master. Maybe he'd be lucky, and they'd all kill each other in a really horrible manner.

Gritting his teeth, he looked at the next candidate. "Yes, very good. Kung, a shape-changing assassin. But can only turn into animals. Still, highly impressive. Maybe I can have him kill both of the Jokers later if they don't die on their own soon enough. Just to show us what he can do, you understand." He looked up to see an uncharacteristic smile on Alexei's face on hearing that. There was no love for Jokers from the Luthors.

Mekanique drew his interest as she was a powerful, time-displaced robot with undisclosed abilities. Lex made a note to try and examine her later. "Minister Blizzard," he mumbled. Yet another cold-based villain and a foe of that world's Wonder Woman. The Mist, a gangster who had gained the ability to become mist-like. The Monocle could fire optic lasers through the monocle he wears. He saw that the Needle was an enemy of Star-Spangled Kid and Stripsy; he was an extremely tall and thin man, armed with a high-powered needle gun. Luthor didn't think he'd last that long, but he'd been proven wrong before. Per Degaton: a time-traveling, would-be world conqueror who seemed to have some types of relationship with Mekanique.

Psycho-Pirate was able to alter the emotions of anyone who sees his face. Queen Clea was a female warrior in a metal bikini. Rag Doll, a triple-joined thief and serial killer. Sea Wolf was an amphibious, lycanthropic Nazi, which mealy raised one of Luthor's eyebrows, basically a werewolf Aquaman. Then there was the Shade, who can create and control a shadowy substance from out of the ether. The Sportsmaster turned out to be an extreme athlete who excels at every sport, and used trick equipment. The Thinker uses an especially created thinking cap to increase his intelligence and have some ability to control the minds of others. Thorn's paper had almost no history except that she could create and control massive, thorny vines and hated her world's Green Lantern with extreme prejudice. Ubermensch: another super-strong Nazi, who believed himself above others. Lex looked forward to putting him in his place.

The Ultra-Humanite, a brilliant scientist who had been trapped in a fragile body until he had his brain surgically placed in another body. The brain transplant feat had been done many times, but currently his brain resided in the body of that of a massive, albino ape that had been genetically designed to house his brain. Vandal Savage was a 50,000-year-old immortal Neanderthal bent on world conquest. The Wizard, another Earth-2 resident who had spent some time on Earth-1, seeked means to make his magic stronger. Wotan, a millennia-old, green-skinned sorcerer who utilizes both magic and advanced technology to achieve his ends. And the last being the Yellow Wasp, another crook but in a yellow costume with mechanical, green wings and a wide array of wasp-based weapons.

"My people want results, too!" exclaimed a short, bald man with thick glasses and an evil smirk walking up to them.

"Ah, Dr. Sivana." Luthor smiled. He, Alexei and Sivana had been communicating for just a few years now, pen pals from different parallel universes. While they would not share their secrets with each other, they found it refreshing to have a peer to rant to who understood the difficulties that they found trying to overcome such as vastly super-powered foes. "I'm so glad that you could join us. I see you brought two of your children."

Sivana glanced back at Sivana, Jr. and Georgia, both of whom resembled him except for the thick brown hair. "I figured it would do them some good to get out of the lab and see where all the dangerous stuff happened."

Luthor glanced at those Sivana had brought with him. "I was hoping you'd be able to bring more with you."

Sivana shook his head. "It's not the numbers that count, but the intellect, skill and power of the individuals. And that we have in spades." He handed over a thin folder with a bit of pride.

"Black Adam. He has all the powers of your nemesis Captain Marvel – strength, speed, power, intellect and more." Luthor looked up with approval. The magically powered villain could be seen scornfully scrutinizing the landscape as he determined the pros and cons of defending their current location. "Yes, he'll be a very welcome ally."

Luthor flipped the page. "Captain Nazi. His super-strength, flight and durability, but not as much has your Captain Marvel."

"And yet he persists to solve all his battles physically against him and that annoying brat Captain Marvel, Jr." Sivana glared back at the tall blond man posturing in his green uniform. "You'd think he'd have figured out he can't overpower them after the first thirty or forty times. But all he can use his head for is headbutting. And he's lost at that, too."

Luthor merely nodded and turned the page. "Ibac. A mystic being of pure evil endowed with the traits of Ivan the Terrible, Cesar Borgia, Attila the Hun and Caligula. Formidable, I take it?"

Sivana nodded. "Very. Not too bright though," he admitted, as he glanced at the tall muscular shirtless man, sporting a short-cut Mohawk. "But he is good at following orders. If you keep the instructions simple, that is."

"King Kull. I think you mentioned him to me."

Dr. Thaddeus Sivana grinned madly as he pointed out Kull to him. Kull bore a horned metal helmet and wore what appeared to be a simple leather kilt. Bearded with black hair, one could easily mistake him for a Neanderthal. "He was the ruler of people called the Submen back at the dawn of man, who had enslaved humanity. But the people overthrew them, and Kull placed himself in suspended animation up until the present day. He's tried on several occasions to use his extinct people's superior technology and brutish strength to take over the planet again, but to no avail."

"A problem many of us have experienced," he said with irritation as he glanced over at the Master, who despite his anger has a bit of a twinkle in his eye as he listened in.

"Let's see. Next is Mister Atom. Basically a sentient nuclear bomb in a powerful robot body." He glared at the other mad scientist. "Are you insane, suicidal or both? Why the hell would you bring something like that with you? It could kill most of us in an instant!"

Sivana chuckled and waved him off. "Oh, Mister Atom isn't that bad once you get to know him. Plays a mean game of chess, too." The towering grayish robot remained motionless, as if waiting for instructions.

Luthor shook head. He couldn't complain much since he had the hard to predict Bizarro as a teammate. "So Mister Mind. You've told me about him. Every bit as ingenious as you or I, but-"

"But he is actually an alien worm that is only about two-inches long." He laughed at that before pointing over to a small, flying contraption that displayed the image of a plump, green worm wearing goggles talking to someone through a microphone.

He eyed the next page, the next villain being empowered by demonic entities, something that Luthor was not liking since it had nothing to do with science. "So, Sabbac…?"

"Demonically powerful," Sivana acknowledged, being a little uneasy on the subject himself. "Very strong, not that bright, and easily offended." He indicated the bald man wearing a green, full-body robe. His eyes seemed to radiate the evil that was inside him, as did his long fangs.

Lex took that bit of warning to heart and planned to keep Sabbac and Mister Atom as far from him as he could.

Lex ran a calculating eye over those mingling in the crowded makeshift army. "I'm glad to see that everyone is getting along." As he watched Vandal Savage was talking with King Kull. The two Cheetahs were circling each other while exchanging quiet words. Captain Nazi, Dr. Psycho and Baron Blitzkrieg were chatting as well. The Ultra-Humanite, Mr. Mind and T.O. Morrow had also formed another small circle. Both Jokers were trying to get the other one with the high-powered joybuzzers in their hand. "Looks like most everyone is pairing off by finding common interests."

Captain Cold nodded. "I see a few I would like to talk to as well. Find out what kind of techniques they use and that sort of thing," he said, with a nod indicating he meant Minister Blizzard, Mr. Freeze and the Icicle.

"Who's the gruesome looking one over there?" asked Alexei.

"That is Skeletor. He's greeting Hordak and his Evil Horde who arrived at the same time you did."

Luthor studied the two men intently. While Skeletor's facial appearance resembled that of a skull, Hordak's visage seemed to have plates of bone attached to his face. Skeletor's body language seemed to hate the other while at the same time showing signs that Hordak had been his superior at one time. After a few words, at which Skeletor nodded to Luthor, Hordak barked to someone, and a small blue, demonic looking cherub appeared, flying next to him. Hordak thrust a folder at him and sent him flying toward Luthor.

The devilish cherub fluttered in front of Luthor, studying him to gauge his worth. "My master, Lord Hordak, orders you to study these profile sheets to better serve in the coming fight."

Luthor scowled at the thought of anyone ordering him around. "Listen, you little imp! No one orders Luthor around! I am Luthor! Lex Luthor! I take on beings of power weekly the likes of which you could never dream of! Now off with you!"

Imp, realizing he made a bad judgment call, did flee, but not he tossed the folder to Luthor who snatched it out of the air.

Scowling, but trying to focus, Luthor handed the Earth-2 folder to Sivana to study and gave the Earth-S folder to his Earth-2 counterpart, Alexei. Then opened Hordak's folder to read for himself about Hordak's minions, the Evil Horde.

The first listed was Catra, the Force-Captain in the Evil Horde. A formidable fighter who had been given a magical mask that could transform her into a formidable purple panther as well as telepathic control over all cats. Lex wouldn't put it past Catwoman to try steal it before this venture was over.

Colonel Blast was a Horde commander and had a suit of armor that had laser guns mounted on his shoulders, wrists, and knees.

Dylamug: a robotic malicious being with a face spread across a large screen that took up the space of its chest, could shoot laser beams from the top of his head.

Entrapta was one of the Horde's technicians, whose specialty was devising a wide variety of traps. She also had the ability to manipulate her extremely long, red hair to capture enemies or do the more delicate work putting together the machines she works on.

False Face was a spy and espionage agent whose powers let him mimic another person's appearance. "Not going to be of much use here."

The next page was Grizzlor, a wild, hairy man-beast with brute strength and sharp claws. "In other words, a mindless brute," Lex commented.

After that came the sheet on the small creature who had delivered the folder to him who was simply called Imp. "A shapeshifting spy." He looked over at the creature in question who was trying to hover close to Hordak. "He's also a stoolie, a lapdog, as well as a coward, unless I miss my guess."

Moving on he came to Leech, a bulky amphibious, green creature with the ability to suck the life force from his opponents through the suction pads on his hands, feet and mouth.

Mantenna was unusual looking. He had four legs and pop-out antenna eyes from which he could shoot energy beams of different varieties, ranging from stun beams, gravity distortion beams and freezing rays. Lex thought Mantenna looked promising until he saw Grizzlor tripping him and Mantenna turned into a stuttering imbecile. "Like we didn't have enough comic relief," muttered Luthor.

Modulok proved to be interesting as he was a multi-bodied creature who could piece himself together in numerous different shapes. Originally, he was a petty thief who was mutated into what he was now while attempting to escape prison.

Mosquitor was a cyborg with a long, pointed metal head that has a needle at the end of its nosepiece which he stabs into his victims to drain their blood and life force. "A bit macabre-ish, but effective."

Octavia, another Horde commander, was green skinned redhead, and had four long tentacles that grew from her back, with the ability to drain energy from victims wrapped in their clutches. Her earlobes resembled fins leaving Luthor to assume she also had some aquatic abilities as well.

Rattlor didn't show much. He looked big and powerful, and turned out to be actually venomous. But his only other abilities were an extending neck and rattling his tail in order to distract others.

Scorpia, of some nobility standing, possessed claw-like pincers for hands and had a large powerful scorpion tail. "Must not get many dates," Lex murmured to himself.

Shadow Weaver, a powerful sorceress, was Hordak's second in command. She dressed in red robes, and kept the features of her face hidden from all eyes, with the only part visible of her are her pale, green hands. Her dark skills allow her to weave her mystical abilities as dark force-bolts, mind-control, telekinesis, teleportation, transmogrification, weather manipulation, as well as many other things.

Tung Lashor was a red scaled Snake Man with an extendable tongue that he used as a tentacle or whip. Luthor shook his head. "Why would anyone admit to having that as their superpower?"

Luthor gapped at the last one. Hordak had brought along his zookeeper, a winged, bald, purplish man named Vultak. His only other ability was to turn into a black shadow. He groaned in frustration, even though he knew that some of them were pretty good at least.

"Hordak sure brought a lot of robots with him," pointed out Sivana, with a look of desire to take one or two apart to see how they function.

Lex reluctantly nodded. "Those would be his Horde Troopers. I'm not certain, but they may be cyborgs. They use a type of laser gun to fight with."

"They are merely cannon fodder!" snapped the Master. "Otherwise, I would have gathered them at the same time I picked up Skeletor." In truth, he wasn't sure he could trust Skeletor and Hordak together. He had determined that they would spend too much time working together to overthrow him instead of the Borg.

"Who's 'Mr. Cheerful'?" asked the Golden Glider.

Lex smirked. "He's the one I told you about. Likes to call himself the Master."

"The one that you can't lift a finger against?" said Alexei, smugly.

Lex scowled. "Yes, he had us placed under a geis of sorts so that we can't hurt him." He glanced at Alexei. "But that shouldn't stop you."

The Master raised his chin and looked down his nose at them. "So, this is why you sought more numbers. We wanted to bring someone in who could kill me!"

"Like you left us any other option," Lex replied snidely.

The Master nodded. "Very well. Let them try." He began to laugh.

Annoyed, Alexei Luthor pulled out a disintegrator gun and aimed it at him. He grunted as he tried to pull the trigger but was surprised to find that he couldn't. "Something's wrong here," he said with a raised eyebrow.

"What?" cried out Luthor. "But they didn't come here with you! We did! They should be able to kill you!"

The Master nodded. "But you invited them here. Thus, they are connected to me once they joined forces with you. The geis applies to them as well."

Sivana scowled at Lex. "You've underestimated everything! What have you gotten us involved in?"

The Master gave Lex a sinister smile. "Yes, Lex. Why don't you clarify that to all your friends? I'm sure they would love to hear you explain how you got them all here just to serve me. And that will be just the beginning of the punishment I have for you."

An explosion occurred underground, causing everyone to lose their footing. One of the antenna towers began to sink into the ground causing Hordak and his warriors to scramble out of the way.

"We're under attack!" shouted General Traag. He began giving orders to those closest to him.

"Prepare yourselves!" shouted the Master. Reaching into his inner coat pocket, he extracted his Tissue Compression Eliminator.

Another explosion nodded most of them over. As the Master looked up, he could see the second tower start to fall. "Save it!" he bellowed. "It is the only thing holding back the Borg!"

Mr. Atom, the tall robot brought along by Dr. Sivana, grabbed the tower and began pulling it back up out of the ground. Star Sapphire flew toward the tower as she focused her thoughts through the jewel on her tiara. Just as she was about to help the large robot lift up the tower, stun beams from the forming chasm struck her and she fell to the ground. The Blue Snowman created a large snowbank to soften her landing. Mr. Atom was struck as well and fell into the chasm. He did not return.

Black Adam and Bizarro pulled up the tower and placed it nearby, forcing the ends of the base into the ground so that it would stand on its own. Brainiac, Lex Luthor and Krang hurried over to it knowing that they needed to get it operational again or they were all doomed.

From a clearing over eight hundred yards away, Borg drones began marching toward them, shooting at the various villains.

The Decepticons delivered a barrage of shots at the approaching drones, many of which proved ineffective since the Borg had already adjusted to those energy frequencies.

"What did I tell you about changing the frequencies of your weapons!" shouted the Master. He ducked down behind Clayface, who, after being stunned, seemed to melt in every direction. "We need cover!" shouted the Time Lord from where he laid low on the ground next to the Penguin and the Mad Hatter.

"Gotcha covered, boss." Captain Cold used his cold gun to form a long barricade in front of the oncoming drones. "That won't stop them long, but it might-" All along the barricade the ice wall was being blasted apart, showering the villains with chunks of slush. Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold shook the icy water from his hood. "They just had to go and make it personal, didn't they?"

He motioned over Mr. Freeze, Minister Blizzard, the Blue Snowman, and the Icicle. "Boys, it's time to show them the real definition of the word freeze." The Icicle chuckled in glee, but Mr. Freeze and Minister Blizzard nodded solemnly. The Blue Snowman just shook her head.

The frosty quartet took aim and fired their various cold based weapons at the same time. The closest drones were frozen solid though there was one drone, a transformed Breen warrior, an alien whose natural environment is in extreme cold temperatures, continued on. It aimed the prothesis that had replaced his arm fired the weapon setting among its multipurpose tools, hitting the Icicle who collapsed into unconsciousness.

"He's mine!" came a feminine yell. Captain Cold looked up to see his sister, the Golden Glider, skating across the sky and getting ready to throw her modified expandable necklace at the drone.

"Lisa! No!" But it was too late. The Breen drone had taken aim and she was stunned also. Cold watched helplessly as his sister fell out of the sky like a stone.

A green blur went thru the sky, and the Golden Glider was caught by Captain Nazi, who then flew her to safety while Wotan used his magic to burn the drone to ashes.

Captain Nazi, a tall blue-eyed blond man, landed near Captain Cold with the Golden Glider in his arms. "I just had to save an Aryan beauty such as this." The lustful look in his eye told volumes of what he thought of the provocatively dressed super-villainess.

Captain Cold took his sister from the Nazi villain. "Thanks, but we're Jewish," lied Snart. Cold had standards after all, and he needed to protect his sister.

The others had not been idle during this encounter. Weather Wizard had formed a tornado that was wreaking havoc along the far side of the approaching Borg. Black Adam had been plowing through the drones but had been caught in a stasis beam and could not move. Terra-Man flew high in the air on his winged horse and took pot-shots down at the Borg. Dr. Alchemy used his philosopher's stone to make a trench so that they could have some cover. The Key, Monocle, Deadshot and Dr. Light formed a line of cover fire so that others could get to safety. On the far side, Yellow Wasp, Captain Boomerang, Queen Bee and the Tattooed Man were setting up a line of defense, as well. They figured out really quick that every man for himself wasn't going to work here.

The Psycho-Pirate, realizing he had waited too long and wouldn't make it to safety, turned and made a terrified face at an approaching Borg. The drone was struck by the fear powers of the Psycho-Pirate and for a few moments every drone froze and had a terrified expression on their faces. Then, all at once, their faces became somber again and the drone vaporized the Psycho-Pirate out of existence.

At the other tower, Skeletor and Hordak were having similar difficulties. They both fired their weapons at the oncoming Borg. Hordak had been struck a glancing blow but had not gone down. Shaking off the effects, he became more determined not to lose. His loyal Colonel Blast provided cover fire for him master, firing the many laser guns built into his suit. Imp, a small devil-like cherub, flew around in a frenzy, unsure of what to do or where to go.

The four-legged Mantenna stood by Hordak and fired eyebeams at the oncoming drones. He lowered his head and rubbed at his eyes.

"Fire, you fool!" demanded Hordak.

"I-I-I'm running out of power," admitted Mantenna.

"Then pick up one of the laser blasters of one of the fallen Horde Troopers and shoot with that until your powers recharge!"

False Face had already scavenged a few weapons and tossed one to Mantenna with a knowing smirk.

Nearby, Scorpia leapt out at two drones, pinning one in her large pinchers while stabbing the other drone repeatedly with her scorpion-like tail in a killing frenzy. As another drone turned to shoot her, Catra, another of Hordak's minions, bound out of a nearby tree and pounded her prey into the dirt. A stun beam from another drone struck her and she fell on top of the stunned drone. The grotesque amphibian-like Leech grabbed the shooting drone from behind with the suction pads on his hands. As he began to drain the life-force from his opponent, he felt something different and pulled away from his unconscious opponent. It was too late! Grayish veins began to course up his arms filling him with pain.

Octavia, a green humanoid woman with two sets of tentacles coming out of her back, had two drones wrapped up in her grasp and had been about to do a similar life-force siphoning when she noticed what had happened to Leech. Instead, she had her tentacles batter the two drones' heads together repeatedly until they fell down dead. Then she picked up Catra and carried her back to Hordak. "These things are too much for us! We need help!"

"It's here!" Skeletor said, as a number of his minions hurried forward.

Trap Jaw fired repeatedly with his own prosthetic arm while Beast Man and Jitsu moved in closer to the drones in order to fight hand and claw against the cyborg threat. Tung Lashor, a shorter, red scaled lizard man, was encouraged by the arrival of help and lashed out with his extendible tongue, tripping some of the drones with it. Modulok, a red-skinned three-legged anomaly that had been a scientist who had mutated himself, leapt on the fallen drones with his razor claws. One of the drones got past his guard, however, and struck him with its tubules in Modulok's forearm.

"Arrgh! It stabbed me!" He struck the drone a skull-crushing blow, sending it backwards to die on the ground. Modulok, having the immediate threat dealt with, turned to look at his injury.

Tung Lashor gawked at the grey veins spreading in Modulok's arm. "I think you'd better have it looked at. It is infected. Or maybe it's some kind of poison."

Growling in anger, Modulok detached his arm and set it on the ground where they watched the grey nanoprobes continue to spread through the limb. "Now I'll have to grow another arm!" he growled in frustration.

The cyborg insectoid Mosquitor flew down onto the back of one of the drones attacking Scare Glow, and plunged his large needle nosepiece into its back to drain it's blood. His transparent metallic chest quickly filled with the white and grayish fluids that were the drone's life blood.

Considering his opponent next to dead, Mosquitor removed his needle nosepiece from the drone's back to fire a laser from it at the next closest drone. Just as he was about to take to the air again, he felt a tearing and burning in his chest. Glancing down, he was shocked to see cracks in his transparent chest as well as spider web-like lines slowly spreading from there to the rest of his body. As he began to falter, he began to hear a choir of voices speaking through the pain, telling him what to do, wearing down his resistance.

After a few moments hesitation like seemed like an eternity, Mosquitor looked up at Scare Glow waving his Scythe of Doom at another falling drone and began to advance on him.

Those that had originally brought here by the Master were not standing on the sidelines as Borg drones were approaching from the other direction as well.

Destro and Major Bludd led their troops to the small shelter that they had built for the studies and experiments being conducted on the previously captured drones.

"We'll use the lab for shielding while we fire on them!" shouted Destro.

Just before they got there, Dr. Mindbender stumbled out of the doorway, ashen faced. The Borg prisoners followed out behind him.

"Get down!" yelled Bludd, as the drones began shooting at them. They were pinned down and could only wait as the drones approached.

Bebop and Rocksteady charged forward behind the bulky form of Moltar, the lava man, who was pouring out streams of lava ahead of him. Both mutate men carried explosive devices that they lobbed like footballs at the nearing drones. It was not the smartest tactic, but it proved to be an effective one, so they kept it up.

Evil-Lyn grasped hands with the red cloaked Shadow Weaver. They pulled their mystic powers together in one great spell. Once completed, all of the drones on their side were suddenly forced back bodily over a thousand yards away.

Zorak pounced on two drones and decapitated them both in the blink of an eye. The Cheetah from Earth-2 brought a third drone down that had been about to stun Zorak. Brak and his brother Sisto crouched behind a group of boulders and were firing at the closest drones with two of the laser guns Brainiac had mass produced.

The Descepticon Blitzwing flew down and fired blasts that either hit the drones or that tore up the ground and sent debris everywhere. Then on swinging back, as he neared the ground, he transformed into his tank form and landed hard, firing.

The fighting spilled out all over. Many were stunned. Some were inoculated with nanoprobes and lead away by the Borg. But finally, Brainiac, Lex Luthor, Alexei Luthor, Dr. Sivana, and Krang got the antenna tower working again. All drones within eight hundred yards ceased attacking.

The Master nodded. The newcomers were under his control, and they were blooded in battle now, too. Yes, things were coming together for him. Now he just had to beat the Doctor to the prize before that interfering do-gooder realized what he was really after.

Then he noticed that the drones inside the Collective blocking field were mostly turning back and returning for where they had come while a few continued on in a suicide attack on the antenna. It would keep the defenders busy while the majority escaped. Other drones outside the area being blocked where providing cover fire for the drones that were in retreat so most of them would make it, too. He knew that those within the blocking field were not receiving orders through the Collective, so they had to be acting on instruction of what to do if they were temporarily disconnected from the Collective. Smart, he'd give them that. But it would not save them from him.

Max Guevera had been licking her fingers that had gotten sticky from one of the large three-pound strawberry she had been eating.

"That was good," said the man known only as Number Six. "And I can honestly say that I cannot remember ever having anything like that before in my life."

Max laughed. "Amnesia would do that for you." She turned to the prisoner that they were watching while the others worked on studying the wreckage of the ARK II. "Are you sure that you don't want one of these berries? They're good."

"Bah!" The Spider-Woman, bound in vines, turned her head away in disgust.

They decided to ignore her. "I know that I'm British," said Number Six. "I believe I've lived in or near London at some point in my life."

"Sounds good," said Max. "Keep going with those thoughts. Maybe something else will come to you."

"Well, I must have traveled extensively. I remember various locations like Russia, Canada, Germany, Australia, Italy, Morocco, Iceland, the United States, South Africa, Egypt and Israel. And I think I did some type of dangerous job."

Max got to her feet and looked out at the tree line.

"I may have been a government employee. Yes, I worked for the government. And then I quit, and I was… abducted? Yes, I was abducted to a strange place called the Village. I don't know where that is though. And my name…Let's see, it's on the tip of my tongue! Why can't I remember it? That should be the most simple thing to remember."

Max didn't turn to him. "Sorry, Six, but it looks like we got company."

Walking toward them from the tree line was the glowing red outline of a man. The others from around the ARK II had also noticed the red figure and had come over slowly, making sure this wasn't another fight.

"I'm Max," she said. "I hope you come in peace."

The red figure stopped. Then it tilted its head to the side as it regarded her. 'Max Guevera, this is not your time.'

Max jumped. Not because the red figure knew her full name, but because it had spoken to her telepathically.

The red figure turned to Number Six. "John Drake, this is not your time."

"Hey! That's it! That's my name! I remember now! I remember everything!" he said, somewhat exhilarated.

The red figure did not seem to care about Drake's excitement as it turned to the Spider-Woman. "You are an invader, Spider-Woman. For that, I cannot allow you to roam free."

The pale, old woman looked at him scornfully, but before she could rebuff what he had said, the red figure raised a hand toward her. A red beam shot out and engulfed her, leaving her in a red aura that covered her still features.

Max took a step back and prepared to fight or run if she had to. "Who are you? For that matter, what are you?"

"Cha-Ka knows him! Cha-Ka knows him!" The young Paku bounded up to the red figure. "He is Builder!"

"Greetings, Cha-Ka," said the Builder. The red form of the Builder seemed to shrink down to Cha-Ka's size and then the red field dissipated entirely revealing a yellow-suited human boy.

"It's a kid?" Lister said in disbelief. "How can it be a kid?"

The Jupiter-2 robot rolled to a stop behind him. "I find that Human children are often underestimated."

"Shorter people are underestimated, too," added Alf. He turned to the child. "Hey, kid, you seem to know us, but who are you?"

The young lad regarded the alien Melmacian, and for a moment Alf thought that there just might be a new red glowing statue of a Melmacian stature in this strange land soon. "Gordon Shumway, you could not pronounce my true name. But if you do not like the title of 'The Builder', then my classmates have chosen to call me 'The Other'. That name will do as well as any other."

Will Robinson stepped forward politely. He asked the question that he thought he already knew the answer to. "I'm Will Robinson. Are you trapped here, too?"

The Other tilted his head. "Trapped? I am The Builder. I have created this land. I cannot be trapped here."

Arnold Rimmer's jaw dropped. "But, you are just a kid! How could you make this place? For that matter, why would you make this place?"

"It was part of a project. Each of us had to create a tesseract to form a small microverse outside of regular time with its own gravity base and artificial solar and lunar sources," he said. "Each of us were allowed to select temporal samples from one world as well as it's dimensional counterparts. My selection was Earth."

"What?" Dr. Smith had been hanging behind the others, mostly so he could escape in case this was a trick to bring them all close together. "I don't believe my ears! Are you saying that this entire place is you school science project?"

The boy regarded him. "It's more of a study of sociology, anthropology, zoology and chronology, but basically that is correct, Dr. Zachary Smith."

Kryten raised a hand. "But, sir, this place is tens of thousands of years old. How is it possible for you to have made all this?"

The Other nodded toward the service android. "My people are the Gallifreyans. When I am older, we will call ourselves Time Lords, for we are becoming the masters of time and space. I have seen the future of my people and I know this to be true. As for my project, it does not require me to monitor every moment, but only those of critical importance, such as now."

"But why go to such lengths?" asked Rimmer.

"The answer, hologram of Arnold J. Rimmer, is to gain insight to alien cultures, study survival instincts and observe as one culture advances above another."

"Wait!" Alf raised a finger. "I think I've found a flaw. You said you were studying Earth. But not everything here is from Earth. Take me for example."

"You landed on Earth and thus became associated with it. The Zarn, another other non-Earthly resident here, never set foot on Earth but only traveled within its solar orbit twelve millennia after Earth was destroyed."

"So everything here happens by chance?" asked Will.

"Usually new subjects are brought here randomly. The computers look for interesting subjects and then when the population here drops, new subjects will be introduced to the environment."

"Then why did we all show up at once, kiddo?" demanded the Cat.

"Cat, when the invaders forced their way into my project, the surge through the control system brought over all the potential subjects that it had been monitoring."

"Sounds like you should have had someone checking to make sure everything was running smoothly while you were away," commented Drake.

"I did. The Altrusians are a race that had sprung up after mankind had all but been wiped out on an Earth far in its future. Seeing that they were going to be annihilated by a species known as the Morlocks, I took pity on them and brought them here. As part of my studies, I taught them technologies they had never before conceived of, and all I asked of them was that they watch over my project between my millennial inspections."

"What happened to them?" asked Lister. "Oh wait. Let me guess. The Pax Protector killed them with the flooding."

The Other blinked in surprise, but then continued with his explanation. "Over the generations, they had become lax. They did not believe anything could threaten them. It resulted in most of them dying. The rest became savages and I devolved them."

"Devolved them?" Dr. Smith gulped.

"It was their punishment, but do not judge me as a villain. I sent them one of their own to bring them back. His name is Enik."

To be Continued!

Original AuThOr'S NoTeS: 11/30/2007

A lot of people are probably asking themselves why did I bring in so many new characters at this point. Well, I admit I had depleted the Master's army a lot more than I had intended and for the big battle coming up I need more fighters. That's really the answer. Besides, it's going to be a lot more fun.

Okay. Now the whole Earth-1, Earth-2 and Earth-S thing (Earth-S is where the Captain Marvel villains come from). Since I am using the Legion of Doom from the Challenge of the Super-Friends series which started in 1978, I figured I'd have to use the parallel Earths set up that DC Comics used prior to that great crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985 where they destroyed most of the multiverse and merged five parallel universes (Earth-1, Earth-2, Earth-4, Earth-S and Earth-X) into one. I have tried gathering only the most well-known villains from this time period. Is the Anti-Monitor coming to wipe everyone out? Not in this fanfiction.

There has been widespread speculation among fans that the character from The Prisoner came from the show Secret Agent. The reason for this is because the actor from Secret Agent left the show to do The Prisoner series. They also never say the real name of the character known as Number Six which is why there is so much speculation.

The Builder comes from the Land of the Lost episode 'The Musician'. At the end of the episode the Builder's red form shrunk down and the red field disappeared to reveal a young boy about Cha-Ka's size. After he tells Cha-Ka 'It is your time', Cha-Ka is finally able to play notes on a bamboo recorder that he had been struggling with all episode. It was like Cha-Ka was allowed to advance or evolve to the point that he could play music. Weird, I know, but such was the time period.
