AN: My youngest seems to have the flu. He can taste stuff and his cough is productive so not the Rona thank goodness. He hadn't had his flu shot yet. Here's another tidbit of Kiss Me Sam. You probably won't get more until next Thursday and my reliease date might be changing too as my boss is pondering changing my day off. I tried to talk her into Fridays so I could have long weekends every other week. She said 'they' don't like that. 'They' can kick rocks. lol.
Tuesday
"I'm sorry, Sam, but I can't grant an annulment. Only the Catholic church can do that for you." Major Larson said to Sam kindly as they sat in the chapel. "Have you considered seeing if a marriage would work between you first?"
"It's against regulations, Mike." Sam said in frustration. "Besides… he…" but Sam didn't continue. Mike Larson gave Sam a sympathetic look. Everyone knew how it was between them; it wasn't exactly a secret. But somewhere along the way one or both of them had given up and now Sam was seeing someone else and Jack was clearly miserable (something Sam didn't appear to realize at all) and no one, not even Dr. Jackson seemed able to talk sense into either of them about this.
He patted her hand reassuringly. "It will take time, but I don't think they will fight it too hard. You two never lived together and it's just a clerical error. I'm sure the church will waive the defender of the bond and just grant it based on the paperwork alone."
"Defender of the bond?" Sam asked him, confused.
So Major Mike Larson explained what he knew of the Catholic annulment process to Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter especially the person whose role it was to defend their marriage against the annulment. Before he could inform her of the full process in her request, someone from base security quietly entered the back of the chapel to pray ending their private conversation.
"We'll talk more later." He assured her and went to ask if his lost lamb needed someone to pray with them.
Sam nodded miserably, sighed, and got up and left the chapel.
