AN: Inventory marches on. Someone stole he outside power lines to my store last week so I spent a night freezing in my car THEN having to come back at 1am to let the electrician in so he could test the system that only tried to kill us once during the reboot. Fun times BUT I got an atta girl from the DM who I still think is a putz but my store numbers are up and I proved when I'm not the only one with a brain in the store I'm clearly not the issue. He's thought for months I'm a total flake because of someone else's reaction to a problem that I chose to shoulder equal responsibility for. Score one for me I guess?

Chapter 2 - Two Days Later

"Babe… what are yah doing?" Pete asked Sam who had driven up to Denver for a weekend visit.

"Just picking up a little bit." Sam said absently as she neatly stacked Pete's NRA magazines and put them on a shelf. In truth, she was stress cleaning. Her house was usually clean so she usually went over to Jack's house and cleaned there if he wasn't home and sometimes even if he was. However, Jack's house was an hour away and she wasn't sure how welcome she was these days.

"I was reading those." He grumbled.

"They are in order by publication date now and I sticky flagged all the open pages." Sam said helpfully. "You should be able to pick right back up where you left off." She said, with a happy smile. Sam really enjoyed organizing things and doing so helped her work through whatever mental problems she was working on.

"Babe, I don't want you rearranging my stuff." Pete growled. "I have it where I want it."

"Pete," Sam's face fell a little bit. "You can't possibly know where anything is by the way this stuff was in here." Her voice was mildly plaintive without realizing it. She needed to clean to help work off stress energy. Why couldn't he just let her?

"You came up for a visit, babe."

"I did but—"

"So quit visiting with my dirty laundry and visit with me." He said pointedly and swept the thing she'd been organizing off the couch and onto a pile on the floor.

Sam bit her lip in ire.

Pete sat down on the now empty couch and patted the spot next to him. "Relax, babe. It's your weekend off. Act like your boss isn't here." He said with a grin.

Sam sighed internally. "All right." She said with a small smile. She supposed she could just go for a run later this afternoon.

"Great. Let's find something to watch on TV." Pete said enthusiastically when she sat and slung an arm over her shoulders, tucking her in against him.
