AN: OMFG... my week! Holy crap! So Monday my boss calls me in the office and says she's putting in her 2 week notice when our jerk DM comes in Tuesday. Tuesday morning stuck in traffic she calls me in tears and says she wants to just turn the car around and say screw this. I tell her she's got to get it over with and she agrees. She comes in and says I'm handing him my keys when he gets here. I'm done. Everyone cries. she goes back to her car. Later DM comes in and tries to simultaneously butter me up WHILE he's talking smack about someone I actually like and respect. It took me having worn my Sam Jackson MEffer shirt to work and pressing the pressure point on my wrist non stop to keep me from being boss #2 that gave him their keys today. And ONLY because I can't do that to my staff. I just can't. Being dead inside doesn't mean I want to screw them over so I held down the fort until today when the assistant manager came back a week earlier than planned so I wouldn't be the ONLY senior manager at the place. What a week.

Chapter 5 – A week after that

"Carter can't make it. Duty calls." Jack said affably to Kelly who he'd like in different circumstances.

"That's all right, Jack. I'm sure you can take notes for her." Kelly said to the tall graying man in amusement. If she could get them to open up to each other, she'd be able to get them to see what they had together. However, she hadn't figured out what angle to take to get them there. "If you want to skip this week, that's all right too."

Jack shrugged. "It's this or reruns." He smiled. "Besides, I was bored at home." He admitted.

Kelly suspected his boredom had more to do with Sam being gone on a mission more than nothing being on TV. "Suit yourself. Everyone, let's sit down together. I have some worksheets for all of you that I want you to fill out and we'll talk about them as a group after. Jack, you can take Sam's home to her for later."

"Right." Jack said.
