THIRD PERSON POV
Percy walked out of his mother's apartment and went to Half Blood Hill, intentionally avoiding any campers or Chiron. He was in no mood to explain to anyone about his decision to leave. He went inside his cabin and packed the stuff he wanted to take with him, and after he finished packing, he sat down on his bed thinking about how his life had done a complete 180 and was facing the opposite of the direction he wanted to go on. Up until this morning he dreamt of a life with Annabeth and now all he wanted to was just leave everything and everyone behind. He wrote a letter to Chiron as a goodbye, of sorts, because face to face would've been too hard. He finished his letter, sat it down on a table near his bed, and left.
PERCY POV
I stood facing the camp beside Thalia's tree as I looked down at my favorite place in the world. So many memories are here. This was the first place I felt like home and fought so hard to protect. The fleece's magic was working, and the valley glowed with ethereal green, the wind so fresh it makes you yearn for it when you're away. The creek shining from the moonlight. The bizarre cabins that were only 12 when I arrived now, there are at least 30 or so. So much has changed at the camp, but it always felt familiar. Always felt like home.
I turned around and touched the bark of Thalia's tree, a sign of the sacrifice of a true hero. Even if she was out of the tree now, it was still a mark of a hero. I would miss her and Nico too; the little goth was always like a little brother to me. They are not gonna be happy when they learn I'm gone and are gonna retaliate when I return. I'll also miss the 7 and especially Annabeth, even if she hurt me, she was the first girl I ever loved.
I walked up to Peleus, our guardian dragon, and petted his head. "I would return again my friend", I said to him, and walked off to some where even the gods didn't know .
CHIRON POV
Three days later
I was worried it's been three days, and no one has heard from Percy or where he is. He was supposed to contact me when he was leaving for New Rome; Annabeth had returned to camp two days ago crying. She wouldn't tell anyone what happened and is refusing to talk to anyone, even her siblings. Even though everyone already knew what happened, some godly child of Aphrodite had heard of what happened from their mother, and the word spread like wildfire. It was no wonder Aphrodite and her children were famous for gossiping.
I started to walk towards cabin 3 to see if he had returned from wherever he was, I walked inside to see an empty cabin, bed made up, no sign of anyone currently staying. I was about to walk out when a piece of paper caught my attention. I went to pick it up and realized it was a letter addressed to me and the entire camp. I sighed, realizing this was a farewell letter.
I asked a camper to spread the news to everyone to meet me at the Amphitheater for an important notice in half an hour. I went there and sat down at the clearing, waiting for the campers to arrive.
THIRD PERSON POV
Everyone arrived at the Amphitheater and sat down, chatting among themselves nervously. Chiron stood up and stomped his hoof on the floor and all the chatting died down. "Is everyone here?" Asked Chiron just then Annabeth walked in, her hair messed up, eyes bloodshot from crying. She sat down at one of the empty stands and looked down, aware of the disgusted looks thrown her way. Chiron began by announcing "I have a letter here from Percy Jackson addressed to me and the camp and I'm going to start reading it so keep it down and pay attention". Annabeth began paying attention to what Chiron had just announced, as did the entire camp, and at Percy's name all chatter died down immediately.
Suddenly 14 flashes occur and all the Olympians were there and just asked Chiron to start reading the letter as they were just there to listen to what their Savior had to say to the rest of the camp. Chiron started reading.
Dear Chiron
I know you are all wondering about my disappearance and are probably waiting for my return, but I'm sorry to inform you that I won't be returning anytime soon. After everything that went down three days ago, my mind or sense of life has been unbalanced. I think it's the wars and the fights that are catching up to me. I've decided to take some time for myself to train or to find peace. You've been a second father to me from the age of 12; it was hard to say all this to you in person, so take this letter as an excuse and sorry for leaving.
Even before I knew about me being a demigod . I was faced with many difficulties in life and had to suffer abuse and torment through the hands of my first stepfather. I didn't know that a place could even feel safe to live in. But the camp made me feel safe, and your guidance and care made me feel safe. I know we don't show it often, but you matter a lot to us and not just as a mentor but also as a family. So thank you Master Chiron.
Chiron had tears streaming down his face as he continued reading about his best and favorite student's goodbye. He never knew Percy was being abused as a kid, but felt glad that he was close enough to Percy to make him think of him as a father figure and to make him feel safe in his presence. He looked up to see Poseidon and Hestia smiling at him and nodding their head. Along with the other Gods and Goddesses as to show him gratitude for making their children safe and caring for them.
Dear campers
It was an honor to share my experience of growing up with you all. We all know how much the life of a demigod sucks. And it sucked a lot more fighting wars with evil family members, but we still fought and won, and it couldn't have been possible without all of you. I would miss Travis and Connor's pranks and helping them with it. I would miss sparring with Clarisse. I would miss all of you. I know some of you are going to be mad at Annabeth for what happened and you are all going to treat her badly. But I would like to ask all of you not to do that. We have been through enough together to start turning on each other.
Annabeth I am not going to say that it didn't hurt because it did, but you should not dwell on that and try to move on from me. Try to build your life like you always wanted. Build something that'll last a thousand years and leave your impact on the world. Build something permanent.
Grover, if you are there, know that, you were my first friend ever in the mortal world. You accepted me when I wasn't a hero or a child of the big three. You saw me as just a normal kid and trusted me and thought that was enough. I always told you that you could accomplish all your dreams and you have. It will be hard to start an adventure without you, but I need to do it. I want you to know that you are and always will be my best friend. Good luck and Goodbye G-man
That's all I have a lot left to say, but I'm afraid that if I spend more time looking down at a paper and keep writing, my brain is going to explode.
WITH LOVE & REGRET PERCY JACKSON
Grover was smiling and crying all the same about what his friend thought of him and knew it to be true. Percy always did encourage Grover that he was destined for greatness. He was a little sad that he would not see his best friend for some time, even years or decades. But he prayed to the fates that his best friend would be alright.
With that, Chiron put down the letter and everyone had tears sprouting down their cheeks. Travis, Connor and Clarisse couldn't believe they got their own goodbye. Annabeth was sobbing from guilt and sadness, guilt because she cheated on a guy who literally walked through hell for her, and sadness because all those years ago she had told him on the train to Amtrak that she wanted to build something permanent, and he had remembered even after all these years. But now she wanted to build that something permanent with him and knew that after what she did, it could never happen.
The young campers didn't understand at first what was happening, but after learning of Percy's leave they were all livid. He was like a big brother to all of them that was always there for them, someone to look up to as an idol.
The Olympians soon flashed out, leaving the campers alone so they could deal with what they had just learned.
"Alright dismissed now if everyone will walk to the dining pavilion its time for dinner." Chiron announced and walked out with an aura of sadness. The campers and nature spirits also walked out, pondering over their hero and his last words to them. They were slightly less angry at Annabeth, but were trying to not show it.
