Hello everyone, how are you?
This is a work of appreciation for the Percy Jackson books. All characters except originals are owned by Rick Riordan.
Read ahead to be introduced to a new character.
PERCY POV
"You can come out now, you may be able to hide from your children, but I am an assassin. Nothing much can stay hidden from me," I called out to the presence I had detected in the throne room earlier. No one had noticed her, except my mother Hestia; she always sees more than she let on.
"I can see your reputation precedes you. I have never seen someone talk to my children like that, but I am glad you did that. They had really grown lax in their duties over the millennia." She replied, and came into sight. She sat down at the hearth; I joined her, too.
"Queen Rhea," I dipped my head in a bow at respect.
"King Perseus." She replied just as formally.
"What brings you here, Lady Rhea?" I couldn't help but ask, as far as I knew, she hadn't seen her children in a couple millennia.
"I wanted to see who my grandson really was, and I must say, you're more impressive than I had originally thought." She told me, and I blushed slightly. This was the first time I was meeting a grandparent that didn't want to kill me.
"I just did what was right and necessary. Anyone could've done that," I replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of my neck.
"You're too modest for your own good Perseus. You should learn to accept your accomplishments. While none may deny that you're powerful, they will take advantage of you." She chastised me and I smiled.
"I will take that into consideration, my lady. I believe you would like to visit your children and talk with them. As I have learned, you haven't seen them in a millennia. I'm sorry Lady Rhea, but my lieutenant is trying to call me." I told her as I felt Alexis was trying to contact me, with our link.
"Thank you for your time Perseus. I sense someone trying to contact you, it must be urgent. Yes I shall talk to my children and grandchildren. I was married to a time Lord Perseus, I have seen the horror and wonder one can bring with this power. I really hope you that you will shape the world in a new and better image." Rhea said, kissing my cheek, then flashed out.
I flashed to where I sensed Alexis presence earlier. He was on the beach at camp, training with his sword. I wanted to see his instincts, so I summoned a knife and threw it at him. He turned around just in time to catch it. He saw me and grinned ear to ear.
"Well, I see your instincts have gotten sharp, let's see your skills in sword." I said and attacked him with a random sword I summoned. I didn't have Riptide anymore; I felt a part of me missing.
Alexi raised his sword and blocked the slash at his neck. He hadn't estimated the weight of my swing and staggered backwards. "Plant your dominant feet ahead of you, not every swing has the same weight behind it. Some might hit like a truck, some could just have a feather's touch behind it."
He nodded and attacked me; we parried each other's side for a little more, before he planted a hit on my shoulder. He smirked at me, and attacked me again. This time I countered his attack and hit him with the side of my blade hard. After that it was all 'Whap' "Lunge," 'Whap,' "Now back up."
At the end of the spar he was pouring in sweat. Bruised and battered, he sat down on the ground, glaring at me, "I hate you so much." He grumbled in pain. "Oh man up, when I was 12 my sword instructor used to train me harder and more painfully. Then he later turned to Kronos' personal minion, and tried to kill me multiple times. I'd say you're lucky." I chuckled at him, and summoned an ambrosia square for him. "Eat up," I told him and handed him half.
"So what did you want to talk about?" I asked him, thinking about why he tried to contact me earlier.
He stood up, walked up to a wooden bench, picked up something, and came back. He handed me a newspaper and handed it to me. I read the part marked with black marker,
20 YEAR OLD WOMAN STABS HER ATTACKER
Last night a local waitress was attacked when closing the diner. Officials have stated that the attacker had multiple charges of molesting, assault and rape against him.
Sources confirm that the man was waiting for her to be alone. When he saw the chance, he attempted to rape the young woman. Who in defense stabbed her attacker in the eye with a fork. Her identity has been kept secret at her request.
"I think she would do well with being an assassin, don't you?" Alexis asked me and I nodded. I was impressed with the way this girl could handle herself and agreed she would be a great addition to my ranks.
"Yes, she will be a great assassin, does she have a family?" I inquired, because my one rule was that I never break a family apart. Not after I saw what it does to them.
"No she doesn't, I looked after her whole life. May have committed a few felonies, but got the result." He smiled as he told me of his disregard of mortal rules.
I laughed at him, "Hey, I was wanted for terrorism as a 12 year old, and am pretty sure there's few arrest warrants in my name." I patted his shoulders, "Being a criminal is not that bad."
I bid him my goodbye and left to see if the mortal girl would like to join me.
?POV
Look, I didn't want to be a waitress.
If you're thinking that being a waitron is easy, that you just serve food, receive payments, hopping off from counter to counter. Shut whatever device you're using and punch yourself in the face hard.
Being a server is hard. You work too hard, get paid too little. It's hard. Most of the time, you work a long hour, only to receive a minimum wage. And every once in a while some creep would think it's a good idea to hit on you. They still won't get the idea that you're not interested.
But if you recognize the work we do, after my little monologue. Then you have my gratitude. Respect the hard work, and don't forget to tip your servers.
You get where I am going with this?
My name is Sasha Sullivan.
I'm twenty years old. Until a week ago I was a normal waitress, working at Ruby's diner. A small diner meant for locals in Glendale Arizona.
Is my life depressing?
Yeah, you could say that.
See tragedy had followed me all my life. I could start at any point in my short and miserable life. When I was 13 my parents died in a car accident, leaving me alone with no family. An orphan, so the social took me in, and boarded me to a foster family willing to take me in. It was great at first, and then they started treating me like shit. Always blaming me for every little thing. After three years dealing with them, I did what any sane person would do.
I ran away, at age 16.
Life was hard, but I survived for four years. Working small jobs, earning barely enough to feed myself, thankfully I met this old lady who took me in. Sadly, she also passed away 1 year ago, which left me all alone again. You would think that my luck would get better. Still waiting!
Then, to top it all off, last month some creep decided to attack me. Bad luck for him. I got my hands on a fork, and took his eye off. Sometimes, with all the bad luck I deal with, I think I might be a Greek hero. See, none of them got a happy ending, except Perseus. Gods, I wished I could meet Perseus, that name intrigued me to no end. See, I am obsessed with the Greek mythology. Always visiting museums to look for Greek or Roman arts. The Metropolitan Museum of Arts was one of my favorites.
I know, I know, it sounds nerdy. Most people do too.
I hoped life would be better from then. Anyway, he just walked in.
'He' is a man who has been visiting the diner since last week. The dude is handsome as fuck. He had jet black hair, and sea green eyes, with gold flecks around his iris. He is probably the best looking man I have ever seen. He comes in, orders a sandwich, and eats it silently. The sandwich costs like 7 dollars; he still leaves a hundred dollars week each time, and insists I keep the rest as a tip.
The weirdest thing is he always keeps his eyes on me, never speaking, just observing. Still, I never felt in danger around him. He had this vibe about him; it made you feel at ease. Today, though, he came with a friend, a boy of about 13-14 years. Both of them sat in a corner booth. I walked up to them to take their order.
"What can I get you today sir?" I asked with a smile. The only real smile I gave a customer today.
"3 servings of my usual sandwich please," he returned my smile, and I practically melted. I nodded and went to grab their lunch.
When I returned the blonde boy slid across the booth to make a seat. The handsome dude motioned for me to sit, so I did.
"Sasha Sullivan, 20 year old, no family, live alone, hard worker, took some martial arts classes, can fuck someone up real good with a fork. Missed anything?" He smiled like it was the most natural thing to come up to someone and read their whole life to them. The blonde kid face palmed to himself.
"Dude way to be blunt. You probably scared her." The kid hissed at him.
"What I didn't threaten her," He defended himself. The kid just shook his head and leaned back in his seat.
"How did you know all that? I specifically asked the cops to not share my details with anybody," I asked them, and this time I was scared.
"We have our way," the kid answered, his mouth full of sandwiches. The black haired guy had a smirk on his face.
"Who are you?" I questioned them at a higher pitch, knowing full well they weren't gonna answer straight away.
"We are just simple guys, making their way through the galaxy." The man answered, which made me smile at the quote he used.
The boy choked on his sandwich, "Dude, you did not just quote 'Boba Fett' to her."
The man laughed, and it was like my entire being was filled with warmth. That sound alone made me forget all my problems.
"What is your name? How did you know about the attack?" I asked, and his smile widened, like the question was much better than others.
"My name is Perseus Jackson, my friend here is Alexis Flores. You can call me Percy by the way. We learned about the attack at the newspaper and decided to look into it. And let me tell you, the creep was a really bad person, who got what he deserved in the end." He answered and I could tell he was telling the truth. As he was talking about my attacker, his face held a vindictive smirk that bothered me.
"Was? What happened to him?" I asked, not that I cared, but the way he said it held another meaning.
"I killed him," this time it was the boy who answered. My mouth flew open at him.
"But you're just a kid." I honestly was scared shit out of my mind.
"Don't let that fool you, he is still very dangerous," Percy said with a proud glance towards the boy, who smiled back. How was this a matter to be proud of?
"Why did you kill him?" My head was reeling with all the questions I was asking.
"He was a rapist, his victims deserved justice, and he told me." Alexis pointed towards Percy.
I turned to him, "Who gave you the right to be an executioner? You're not a god," I shouted at him, trying to figure out whether to call the police or not.
"Funny thing, he actually is a god," Alexis stated bluntly.
"What?" My voice was small at this question. I didn't know why, but I believe them.
"Look around you," Alexis told me, and I did. That's when I realized, that no one was moving in the diner except us. I looked outside through the window; the whole world had stopped. Time has stopped. My eyes widened, he really was a god. I started getting on my knees, but Percy grabbed my shoulders. His touch was divine, like salvation. I could feel my worries and problems melting away. I had never felt such small before.
"What do you think you're doing? I don't like it when people kneel without cause." Percy said annoyed. I didn't know how to act in front of a god.
"Ask your questions," he said, smiling sitting down on his seat.
"What god are you? Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo?" I asked him, knowing only the names of Greek gods.
"First of all great assumption that I'm Greek. Second, Zeus is just yuck, Poseidon is my dad, Apollo is a buddy of mine. Third I only became a god like two weeks ago, so you wouldn't have heard of me." He told me simply; I also just simply stared at him. So much information, in such little time was overwhelming.
"So what do you want with me?" I asked, thinking whatever had a god come directly to come talk with me, wasn't going to be good.
"We would like you to join our ranks." Alexis stated, "See my Lord Perseus here is the god of Assassins. He has a creed of assassins, which I'm a part of."
I took time to absorb the information. I had a God of Assassin in front of me, who could control time also? And he would like me to be an assassin for him. I thought about my options; it would be bad to reject a god, but I doubt he would mind. Then I thought I didn't have anything better, to do; going around traveling with a god does sound good. At least, this way I would have someone permanent in my life. He couldn't die so he wouldn't be able to leave me alone.
"So what do I have to do to join?" I asked them, making my decision.
"Don't you want to know the benefits?" Alexis asked me incredulously.
I blinked at him in shock, "I get health insurance?" I asked in disbelief, working as a waitress didn't give me healthcare, but being an assassin does? If I had known I would've joined earlier.
They laughed at me, then Percy answered, "No not healthcare," he said, chuckling, "You get immortality, heightened speed, senses, instincts and reflexes."
My jaw was on the floor, I would get immortality? Don't know whether I wanted that or not. I could barely survive 20 years.
Percy smiled, he must've read my thoughts. "Don't worry I didn't want to be immortal either. I was born a mortal too, I shared your predicament too, but fear not. Immortality would work for you if you allow me, and I will be there with you to help you along the way."
Alexis nodded in agreement.
"I would like to join you," I answered him.
"Repeat after me, 'I pledge myself to the God Perseus. Accept his eternal blessing. To be the executioner of his will, to be a weapon of justice. To walk quietly in the shadows. To be an Assassin.'"
I nodded and repeated the oath, 'I pledge myself to the God Perseus. Accept his eternal blessing. To be the executioner of his will, to be a weapon of justice. To walk quietly in the shadows. To be an Assassin.'
Percy closed his eyes and said, "I Accept."
My body glowed for a minute. I felt stronger, more powerful. I felt at ease, for the first time in my life. I did not fear the future.
"Let's go," Percy said, and walked out of the diner with Alexis. I told the owner I quit and walked out to them.
"So where is your car?" I asked Percy, seeing as Alexis wasn't of age yet.
Percy made a disgusted face, "do you know what that thing does to my earth? Nasty little pollution machines." He kept on rambling about pollution.
"Wait his earth?" I asked Alexis, as Percy was walking ahead.
"Oh, he is the god of Earth and Oceans, so it is technically under his ownership." He said casually, like the dude walking ahead wasn't the owner of the entire planet.
"What else he is the god of?" I asked sarcastically, thinking he couldn't get any more powerful.
"Oh Lord, those are mouthful, wait a minute," he said, pointing his finger up and taking a deep breath. "He is the god of tide, time, earth, loyalty, heroes, polygamy, wolves, assassins, carnage, destruction, power, battle, weapons, oceans, council, justice, judgment, curses, dominance, authority, order and balance. He is also the King of demigods."
I sputtered something unintelligent which made him laugh, "Hey, we all felt the same way, when he was given his domains." He assured me.
"Wait, you said something about demigods. They are children of gods and humans right? Are you one too? Tell me about them please." I pleaded to him, sounding like a child, I know, but you couldn't blame me. I already disclosed that I liked the Greek world, didn't I?
Alexis smirked at me, "Yes demigods are half children of Gods. Yes I'm a demigod too, a son of Hermes God of Travelers. As for demigods we are children of gods that are bred and trained to be warriors. Ones who would make the Spartans look like kids, and the man walking in front of us was the best of us. A warrior like no other, Gods, Titans, Giants and Primordial have gone against him, and he was the one left standing."
I looked ahead to the god in front of me; he didn't look much dangerous. He seemed like a child in a sugar rush. He was walking, and kicking a rock, bringing it along with him.
"He said something about being born a mortal too, does that mean he was a demigod too. How did he become a god?" I was probably killing him with my question.
"Yes, he was a demigod too, a son of Poseidon. He fought two wars for the gods, and they rewarded him with godhood twice, which both times he declined. Then he and his girlfriend were on a break so he finally accepted it. That's how he became a god." Alexis stated, and there was pride in his voice, but awe too. I was just thinking that he declined godhood. No man alive would deny something like that.
"Oh he must be a legend then, been offered godhood thrice." I stated not asking this time.
"Believe me is a myth in the eyes of those who grew up with him too. He has faced and defeated many enemies, some who even the gods were afraid of. He is 23 years old, and introduced to the godly world since 12. In eleven years he has many myths written about him. Some of them say he is the greatest warrior ever to exist, some say he is the worst monster ever. But"
"But?" I asked, waiting for him to continue.
"All of them say one same thing, that he is the most dangerous thing to ever walk the earth." He said and smiled.
I was about to ask more, when Percy came over, "Alexis, you take her to the camp and introduce her to everything. My girlfriends are threatening to throw me out of the bedroom if I don't report immediately to them." He said, and vanished into a puddle of water.
I turned to look at Alexis and asked, "Girlfriends? Like more than one?"
He sighed, "Yeah, he is meant to have 9 soulmates. Believe me he is more confused than either of us. Even in the weirdness of the Greek world, his life is a real whopper."
We continued walking in silence before Alexis pulled me into a dark alley, and teleported us into vapor.
PERCY POV
Apparently, the ladies of my life think it's funny to screw with me. They called me out of work, because they wanted me to bake blue cookies. Anyway, here I am, sitting on the head table at the dining pavilion in camp. Annabeth by my side; Piper sitting with her siblings, Alexis and Sasha sitting at my table, eating and laughing.
"Percy!" Sasha's voice cut through the crowd of demigods.
"Yes Sasha, do you require anything?" I smiled gently at the girl. There was something about this girl that made me smile. I believe it's because she is a fighter, who stands for herself, and nothing more.
"Can you please tell us about your adventures?" She requested me in front of everyone. At once I had everyone's attention. The new campers were looking at me pleadingly.
I turned to look at Annabeth, who smirked at me and said, "You're screwed," through mind-message.
I turned to the crowd and thought 'Oh Dear Chaos.'
ANOTHER CHAPTER FINISHED
UPDATE DATE 20/FEB/2022
So what did you guys think of the way I introduced Sasha? Do you think the character has potential?
And do you want me to let Percy tell his adventures of the first great prophecy. It won't be a reading the books thing, rather the summary of the books. Could be finished in 5 chapters. I'm doing this to continue the story as long as I can before war comes knocking.
Because, it's been only two weeks since, he became a god. I don't want him to fight another war so soon.
don't forget to comment/review your thoughts.
