Chapter 12

Chiron CIC
"Libran Dreams Actual this is Chiron Actual. Glad to see you back and I see you made some friends" said Commander Jasper.
"Sir we have intel on what happened with the attack on the Colonies and other possibly sensitive information" said Captain Anders. "It might be best to go over it on the Chiron rather than wireless sir."
"Captain we will have an officers briefing in an hour" replied Commander Jasper. "Do we have logs, manifest, and supply information for your new logistics ship." Jasper wondered where they had picked up missile collier but more missiles would be nice.
"Sir unfortunately the Aglaea did not have any crew but we will bring over what we have" said Anders. "I will be there in a hour sir. Libran Dreams out."
"Major please contact the two new civilian ships. We are going to send some people to check out their ships and cargoes. Start with the Ovgigo" said Jasper.
"Yes sir" said Major Marton. He had a certain lazy PO and some bored Marines to send on this mission. "When we get all the personnel jackets processed from the new ships and figuring out crew compliments is going to be pain."
"Yes Major I am just glad that's your job and not mine" Jasper joked.

Chiron Officer Briefing Room
Commander Jasper and Major Marton were waiting when Captain Anders and LT Gavin walked in. Jasper said "Again good job people. You performed admirably even under far more difficult conditions than were expected."
"Thank you sir. It appears that at the same time that Ofis A and the Kestrel was attacked that the Cylons launched a massive attack. This we already knew. What we have found by piecing together the sensor and duty logs of the Aglaea we have found out how" said Captain Anders. "Sir as we suspected there was a virus that shut down Colonial ships using the CNP program. Almost all Colonial Navy ships were made inoperable and then destroyed by the Cylons." Anders paused to give everyone time to absorb this information. "What we have learned is that the Galactica and around 70 civilian ships appear to have fled the Cyrannus system. Also that the Secretary of Education Laura Roslin was with them and she is now the President of the Colonies."
"Do we have any ideas where the Galactica went" asked Jasper.
"No sir we do not" said Captain Anders. "Other than the Aglaea we did not find any other Colonial or SDF forces. There is more some information there but I would like LT. Gavin to report that information." Gavin and his crew had pieced it together after all.
Commander Jasper said "LT Gavin your report please."
LT Gavin was nervous. He was a frakking Viper jockey and now he has to report to the Commander about how "his" ship had found mission data. "Yes sir. As Captain Anders reported the Galactica survived the initial Cylon attack. Commander Adama declared himself in command of all Colonial ships and to meet up at Ragnar Anchorage."
"Some Aerilion and Canceron SDF ships picked up this broadcast. They were able to shut down their CNP program before meeting the Cylons. They then were able to destroy several Basestars but suffered major damage. The surviving forces under a Major Gabriel then ordered the Aglaea to rearm his Ranger class Missilestars and to report to Ragnar Anchorage. The Aglaea was then stripped down to a skeleton crew to replace losses on his ships and to report to the Galactica if they were still there." LT Gavin continued. "The Galactica and it's civilian ships had already departed and the Ragnar Anchorage had been destroyed. Per their previous orders they then took a Raptor to meet up with the Major Gabriel at their rendezvous point. We do not have any information on that jump spot or any further information on the SDF forces.."
"Thank you LT. What is the status of the Aglaea" asked Commander Jasper. The briefing was showing how far the Colonial Navy had fallen. Adama is a senior Commander but merely a Commander. That some First War Missilestars under the SDF seemed to have done more than the Colonial Navy. That a Major was in leading the attack on the Cylons.
"Sir the ship itself is operational with no combat damage but I can see why the Aerilions dumped her. She has only 8 point defense guns and zero heavy guns or missiles. It does have a military grade jump drive and Dradis system and some light armor. It's a death trap in the battle they were looking at. The bad news is that it has very little ammunition on board. A couple of pallets of light missiles like the Raptors use. No medium or heavy missiles sir" reported LT Gavin.
"Thank you LT. For now Captain Anders I want you to leave LT. Ambera in command of the Libran Dreams. I want you to look over all the sensor readings of all ships and Raptors. See if we missed anything" said Commander Jasper. "Anders is a whiz with sensor readings maybe something might be picked up. LT. Gavin report back to the Aglaea." Jasper could see the disappointment on his face but we should be able to send someone to take over soon. "Major please remain and everyone else dismissed."

Major Marton and Commander Jasper looked over their crew numbers. They certainly were keeping the Aglaea but the Erniki and Libran Dreams while useful was possibly stretching them too far. "Sir I think we should consider this for the Aglaea" as he passed his plan over to the Commander.
"This looks pretty solid. Do you see any issues with our other plan" said Jasper as she made some minor changes.
"No sir. I think it will help with our crew numbers and free up some people" said Marton. "Not sure that" Marton stopped as the phone rang with the priority tone.
"Report" said Jasper. After a short conversation she turned to Major Marton. "A passenger on the Ovgigo went crazy and killed 3 people. Sgt. Thomas is saying he needs to speak immediately. Let's go to CIC."

Not sure if I ever gave hard numbers but the Chiron has 60 point defense weapons or "AAA" and 8 of the bigger dual barreled guns like you see the Galactica use to shoot down missiles, Raiders, or Basestars. It also has 4 forward facing missile tubes that can do heavy damage. Probably not enough to go toe to toe with a Basestar but it's not a snowball in hell in a combat situation.
The Aglaea though is not a warship. It does have 8 point defense weapons but they honestly were more there to keep some half assed pirate from stealing a bunch of ship killer missiles than to deal with any theoretical Cylons. As I said last time they are at least able take some damage (in theory) but they are small and cheap (by military standards) and definitely less than a comparable Colonial ship. Still a lot better than nothing so going to be used.
Jasper and Marton have an idea but working out some of the logistics will take some time. Their "master" plan should hopefully be posted in a few chapters. This has kind of gotten bigger than I expected so I am going to say that a timeline and ship listing should be listed in a few chapters.
