Chapter 13

Bacrita Sector

Ovgigo Shuttle Bay

"Technician Kryspos" said PO Deema calling her over. "I would like you to process the passengers and crew from the Ovgigo and their personnel jackets."
Kryspos was a bit annoyed as this job is boring and she had already had to do it for several hundred of the Maxon Mining crew. She knew the reason was simply she had better handwriting than most and could spell complicated words like "farmer" correctly. Still she had to say "Yes Chief. Is there any chance I can get some help. 500 people will take a long time to do by myself." She knew that Deema and the other Chiron crew were going to be busy checking the systems and cargo and was now really annoyed as she knew what Deema was going to now say.
"Yes the Marines here will help you out. Go report to Sargent Thomas and work with them" said Deema.
"Yes Chief" said Kryspos as she walked over to the Marines. Going over the guy with the most stripes she said "Technician Kryspos reporting for duty. I was directed to coordinate with you to process the Ovgigo crew."
Sargent Thomas took at least some pity on this poor Technician. She had clearly been given this job because her PO didn't want to do it. Also her PO seemed pissed to be ordered to do this by the XO. "Tech Kryspos why don't you give us a rundown on what we are doing and how we can help."
"This is the report we need filled out" said Kryspos passing out a copy to everyone. "It's pretty basic but if you could also help out with crowd control. I have found that splitting them into basic groups and more importantly making sure they leave when done speeds up the process." It amazed her how much people would just mill around and get in lines when done. "Here are the three main groups we want people to line up in. If you can do group 2 and 3 I will take care of group 1."
"Makes sense. OK everyone you heard the lady. Cpl. Loris you take group 2. Cpl. Chen you take group 3" said Sargent Thomas. Chen deserved the worst job. In a way I guess she had saved their lives but still pissing off the Master Sargent so the whole squad got cleaning duty she deserves this. "Let's head to the mess hall and get set up."

Sargent Thomas was getting tired of repeating himself. "No you can not keep your pen. If you made a mistake just cross it out and put the correct information next to it. No we do not need references. When done filling out the form get in line. Group 1 any former law enforcement, military, spacers, or pilots. Group 2 any medical, engineering, teaching, or any other college graduates over here. Group 3 everyone else." You would think it's simple enough. And how the frak would they be able to check references that you were a shift manager at CeeMart 10 years ago? Civies. Still the lines even line 3 was moving. "Please remember to turn in your pen and return back to your quarters when done." Gods this is such a cluster. Might as well make my way over to line 1 again to do another lap.
Technician Kryspos was glad that the Marines were helping. They might not be secretaries but they do manage to boss around the civies. Another person walked up and turned in his paperwork. Let's see Crewman Leonard Dyo at least not another miner (we only have like 800 of those), started working at Greystone liners a few months ago, before that was doing cargo runs for Greystone Transport. Nothing too amazing but he at least had his paperwork in good shape. Time to ask a couple questions.
Kryspos looked at the person. Wait that's weird. "Do you have a brother on the Maxon's Respite? He looks like your twin" was the last thing that she ever said.

What the Frak! That guy in line just snapped the neck of the Tech and started to attack the people in line around him. Sargent Thomas pulled out his sidearm and yelled "down now!" but the crazed man turned towards him so Sargent Thomas shot him 3 times in the chest. Thomas walked over there to make sure the lunatic wouldn't attack anyone else and he heard him muttering about the will of god before he died.
"Marines get the perimeter secured" said Thomas. Luckily most of the civies had wisely ran away. "Lorris see what you can do for the injured." Another person was dead and two badly wounded. A couple other had minor wounds. Thomas then got on his wireless to call the Chiron.
"Chiron Actual. Report" said Commander Jasper.
"Sir we had a passenger attack and kill 2 people one of them Technician Kryspos. As far as I can tell he killed her for no reason" said Sargent Thomas.
"Sargent what were the events" said Jasper. She listened to the Sargent explain to the best of his knowledge. "So Technician Kryspos said he had a twin on the Respite and then he killed her? And then he said it was the will of god?" Monotheists are weird but not 'kill random people' weird. This does make any sense.
"Yes sir" said Sargent Thomas.
"Sargent we will send some help for your Corpsman and make sure to keep everyone under control. Expect a shuttle in 10 minutes" said Jasper. "XO get over there and figure out what happened."
"Yes sir" said Major Marton.

Major Marton after talking to Sargent Thomas and the officers of the Ovgigo did not have any more of a clue. Crewmen Dyo had been if not popular (he kept to himself) wasn't unpopular and had caused no problems. No obvious mental health or drug usage. Maybe his possible brother might have some information. Let's see going through the files of the Respite crewmembers. Hmm they do look like twins. Wait that doesn't make sense.

"Sir if their paperwork is correct they were born 7 months apart and lived on different planets" said Major Marton. "I think we should talk to Crewman Agios and make sure there is nothing going on there."
"Major take a shuttle with the Marines over there. You are to detain and question Crewman Agios. You are not to call this in to the Respite" said Jasper. "I will tell her that we are transferring over some supplies that she requested."
"Yes sir" said Major Marton.

Maxon's Respite Shuttle Bay
"Sargent I don't know what is going to happen but have your people ready to detain crewman Agios if needed" said Major Marton before they stepped outside. Carl Maxon was waiting there.
"Major I am surprised to see you on a cargo run" said Carl Maxon. He stopped as he saw the Marines also coming out. "What is going on here" he asked.
"Mister Maxon we need to know where Crewman Justin Agios is right now" said Major Marton.
"Crewman Agios should be in the engine room" said Carl.
"Follow me but stay behind us" said Major Marton. It took a second to find Crewman Agios when they opened the door. No one got in their way but as soon as Agios saw them he started to run towards them with something in his hand.
"Down" yelled the Marines but Agios kept getting closer. Sargent Thomas shot him in the leg. Agios went down but was still trying to fight them. After a second they had him in restraints while Agios was yelling about the will of god and it is destined.
"What the frak" said Major Marton.

Author's Notes

Not sure this is the best way to deal with skinjobs but it was time to bring them in. Dyo or Agios is Leoben or #2. The Cylons aren't that clever naming names (or maybe I am not) but all of these Leobens names are variations of some religious word or the number 2.
I went with the "skinjobs" are massive badass. Not sure that actually was shown they seemed in good shape but they implied they were very dangerous. Why these Leobens did what they did which will be explained next chapter.
The "job interview" is a lot like some of the terrible job fairs I have been to in the past. I was an applicant but I could see the frustration of not being able to follow basic directions in their eyes. Also this gives a bit of an "eye on view" of the process before I pull some new characters out of the air. There is at least a behind the scenes process.
