Alright time for the next chapter, hope you all enjoy, sorry this chapter took so long, I had some stuff to work out, and had a few hiccups along the way. All cleared up now though. I can focus more on this story.

Darkness Reborn

Chapter 25: The Trickster.

-Meereen, Essos-

It had been a short time since the arrival of the Lannister entourage, and in that time, Daenerys and her allies had learned all that they could from them.

Tyrion and Jaime were questioned at length about what they knew, as was Varys. They told Dany everything there was to say, Tyrion even offered up all that he had gathered during his trip with Aegon up to the Wall. Of everyone present, Tyrion was the only one who had any real interaction with Aegon.

He told Daenerys his opinion of the man, and how Aegon seemed very thoughtful, and clever. He seemed to have a keen intellect, though there was something more there that he hadn't really taken notice of before. There was a danger in Aegon's eyes. A threat that brewed there. He was quiet, and seemed peaceful, yet if one looked into his eyes for overly long, they'd notice that something wasn't quite right.

It was during these discussions when Tyrion made mentions of Annatar.

Hearing the name drew questions from Rómestámo. He asked who this man was, and when he got an explanation, he visibly paled.

Dany questioned him about it, and he told her, with audible fear in his voice that Annatar had once been a name that Sauron the Deceiver had used to trick the peoples of Middle-Earth. Annatar, the Lord of Gifts.

A title he had obviously chosen to break out and use once more.

With this realization, Rómestámo came to another, and that was that Sauron had been manipulating the Targaryen line for centuries, at least as far back as Maegor, though possibly even longer.

That certainty unsettled those in the room. Especially the Lannisters as they were told of Sauron, and of the possibility that he was the one they knew of, as the Sorceress of the North. Now Rómestámo was more convinced then ever, that he had been right. Sauron had to be this sorceress, and he had a vested interest in the Targaryen line. This led him to speculate as to the nature of his desires towards the Targaryens, and led him to questioning Barristan, Tyiron, and Varys about all they knew of Annatar's actions.

After hearing of all the things that Annatar had done for Westeros, though more specifically the Targaryens and the Starks, Rómestámo came to the conclusions that the birth of Aegon Targaryen could not be a coincidence. That Sauron had taken to aiding two families in particular, and after nearly three centuries, those two families were finally joined for the first time, coupled with his attempts to control the product of that union in Aegon, led to some serious concerns. The only logical conclusion that Rómestámo could come up with was that Sauron needed the Stark and Targaryen bloods to unite. The question was, why?

It was Tyrion who made mention of the fact that it was rumored that Aegon had taken this Sorceress as his wife. If this sorceress truly was this evil being, shape shifting into a woman, than perhaps it was Aegon's seed that Sauron was after.

That of course led to even more speculation, and left many of them in a deeply troubled mood.

At some point, when conversations about Sauron became too troubling, Daenerys chose to address a particular elephant in the room, and that was Varys.

The Spider had been responsible for the assassins sent after her and her brother all throughout their lives.

Varys expressed his hope that she and Viserys would survive, as he had no ill-will towards them, and had long been a supporter of the Targaryens. It was her father whom had brought him over from Essos in the first place. Had he not been surrounded by those who were always watching him, those like Cercei, like Littlefinger, he would have happily gone on fooling King Robert into thinking those assassins were being sent, without ever actually sending them. Unfortunately, he was under watch, and if he was seen doing anything that may seem like supporting the Targaryens, Robert would have happily taken his head. So he followed his commands, and tried to feed the assassins false information, or he offered them the truth, just a bit to late, to catch their prey.

Daenerys obviously didn't trust him, but it was Rómestámo that pointed out, that they needed him. Even if their plans for Aegon were successful, and they freed him from Sauron's control, they would still need to fight most of Westeros. Yes the Starks would join with them, but everyone else? The threat of Sauron's power, may just be enough to keep them all in line, and force them to fight a war. They needed every advantage they could get, and that most certainly included the Spider, and his massive spy network in Westeros.

Despite her distrust in the man, she accepted Rómestámo's wisdom, and asked Varys to join her council of advisers. Varys accepted, and made the suggestion that if she ever needed guidance when it came to ruling, or people, she should speak with Tyrion. He had served as Hand of the King for a time, and had done an incredible job of ruling over King's Landing. While she already had a Hand in Ser Barristan, Barristan was a knight, not an administrator. In-fact, none of Daenerys advisers were administrators, which was one reason she had so much trouble in getting control over Meereen when she had first come here.

Again, Daenerys didn't trust the son of Tywin Lannister, but she knew that she couldn't afford to turn away any possible allies. Sauron was, quite possibly, the greatest foe, the world had ever known. She couldn't afford to turn away any advantage, and someone skilled in administrative duties would be a valuable teacher. If nothing else, Tyrion may be able to look upon her works here in Meereen and see what she was missing, what she was doing wrong. She was always someone who learned as she went, and having the right advisers was important. So she would accept the dwarf's assistance, so long as he offered it willingly, and gave prudent advise.

Tyrion accepted the position, as it meant the possibility of convincing Daenerys to at least let the Lannisters have their home back, when they returned to Westeros. Hell if he played his cards right, they may even be made lords of the Westerlands again. Though for now, Tyrion would just settle for trying to get Casterly Rock back.

It had been several days since then, and everyday since, Tyrion would join her as she held court and addressed the problems of her people.

It was around midday when a member of the Second Sons came in, and motioned for Daario.

Daario came down and spoke with the man before turning to look up at Rómestámo. He then turned his gaze to Daenerys.

"What is it?" She inquired as his eyes turned towards her.

"An old man is here. He claims to be an old friend of our Blue Wizard." Daario responded.

Rómestámo blinked several times at that, and shared a glance with Daenerys.

"Something you want to tell us?" Daenerys inquired with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't have many friends outside of those in this room, so I find such a thing quite odd." Rómestámo responded.

"A trap, perhaps?" Daario questioned as he made his way back up the steps.

"Perhaps, though a suicidal one, if they wished to attack me here, surrounded by the Queen's guards." Rómestámo replied.

"See them in." Daenerys instructed, as Rómestámo stepped forward and stood at the edges of the steps.

A few moments later, a traveler in a hooded cloak walked in, striding forward with a black staff in one hand.

"Late is the hour, we find ourselves in, my old friend. Surrounded by strangers, in lands far from home. Yet here you stand, loyal and helpful to the race of men, as you have always been. It is good to see, that even after so very long, some things never change." Came a voice from beneath the hood. The man slowly pulled back his hood, revealing straight white hair, and a pristine white beard.

"It cannot be…" Rómestámo muttered in disbelief, as he took several steps forward, down the stairs.

"Hello, my old friend." Saruman greeted him, as Rómestámo finished descending down the stairs.

"Saruman." Rómestámo offered with a smile, and a polite bow of the head.

"I think they know each other." Tyrion noted.

"Seems that way." Daenerys agreed, curiosity dancing in her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Rómestámo asked.

"I have come to hear your report, and to tell you of the things happening in Middle-Earth. Sauron has revealed himself to us, once more. And I would know what you've learned of the Balrog you followed here." Saruman responded.

Hearing the name of the Dark Lord, everyone listened in more intently.

"Sauron revealed himself? In Middle-Earth?" Rómestámo asked, uncertainty filling his gaze.

"Yes. He was hiding, in Dol Guldur. The White Council expelled him from the ruins when it was learned that he was there, hiding under the guise of a necromancer." Saruman explained.

"He is here too. He is influencing events in these lands as well. The Dark Lord's reach has grown long." Rómestámo stated, with worry.

"It would seem so." Saruman responded, taking note of the worry on Rómestámo's face.

"Forgive me, your grace. May I introduce you to the head of my order, Saruman, the Wise." Rómestámo turned towards Daenerys, and offered in introduction.

Daenerys blinked several times at that, taking note that this man was another wizard, just like Rómestámo. Another individual who had traveled here from the distant lands that Rómestámo called home.

"Saruman, you stand in the court of Queen Daenerys Stormborn, of House Targaryen." The Blue wizard offered to the White.

Saruman raised his gaze to Daenerys, his eyes meeting with hers. For several moments, the two stared at one another before Saruman offered a pleasant nod, and strolled forward.

As he did, he removed his traveling cloak, revealing the almost radiant white robes that he wore underneath.

Unlike Rómestámo who looked well traveled, and stood hunched, and worn, Saruman stood tall, and prideful. There was great strength in his stance, and power radiated from him. The difference was almost night and day between the two men. Though that did make sense, if this was the leader of Rómestámo's order.

"Forgive the sudden intrusion, Queen Daenerys Targaryen. I come in search of information, from my old friend, and to warn him of dire threats, growing in our homeland." Saruman said to her, his voice strong and commanding, carrying up to her with authority.

"It is alright. Any friend of Rómestámo's is welcome here. We are allies of the Blue Wizard, and his cause, and would very much like to hear of what our enemy is up to." Daenerys responded.

Her response earned a curious look, and Saruman glanced over at Rómestámo, whom offered him a smile and a nod.

"Always making friends, aren't you?" Saruman inquired with a snort of amusement.

"I am not so prideful as to believe I can face the darkness on my own. Queen Daenerys has been a good ally, and seeks to rid the world of the evils that Sauron will perpetuate. You can trust her assistance, I assure you. She is our ally." Rómestámo stated.

"I will trust your judgment, old friend. You have lived among the enemy for many years, you know how to gauge ones intentions, and judge their character. If you say they are allies, than I will trust them to hear this." Saruman stated.

From there the group found their way into the meeting chamber. Daenerys ensured that all of her advisers were present to hear of what the White Wizard had to say.

"First, let us hear what has been happening in Middle-Earth." Rómestámo began.

"It began, when word reached us of movements within Moria, the disappearance of the Balrog, which brought you here. Then, on a mission to investigate Dol Guldur, Radagast encountered several specters, and was chased from that place by a shade, calling itself, the Necromancer. He brought news of this event to Gandalf, who in turn brought it to us, before heading there to investigate himself. He was captured, by the Dark Lord, and held prisoner there. Sauron had been hiding there, under our noses this whole time, gathering his power, and amassing an army." Saruman explained.

"Radagast and Gandalf are some of the other members of our order." Rómestámo offered to Daenerys and her advisers as they continued to listen.

"The White Council learned of Gandalf's imprisonment and moved to rescue him. At Dol Guldur we encountered several of the Nazgûl, as well as the Dark Lord himself. After a fierce battle of wills, between him, and the Lady Galadriel, he was forced to flee from Dol Guldur, into the East. No doubt his spirit returning to Mordor, to reestablish itself." Saruman continued.

"That is indeed very troubling. What of this army, he bred in the pits of Dol Guldur? What became of it?" Rómestámo asked.

"It was led, by the Orc Chieftain, Azog, the Defiler. And it marched on Erebor. Gandalf had, prior to our discovery of the Necromancer, worked with King Thorin, to establish a company with the task of slaying Smaug, and reclaiming the Dwarven kingdom of Erebor." Saruman answered.

"Dwarven kingdom?" Tyrion inquired, his curiosity being mirrored by some of the others.

"Yes, in Middle-Earth, there exists a race of people called Durin's Folk, though most simply call them dwarves. They are short in stature, broad and strong. They are a hardy people, often living in great underground kingdoms. The Balrog that rules over Valyria, once inhabited the Dwarven Kingdom of Khazad-dûm. The dwarves there, delved too deeply into the earth and awoke the Balrog from it's slumber. It, in turn, chased them from their homes, and forced the dwarves who lived there to travel in search of a new home to call their own. They eventually founded the kingdom of Erebor. Built beneath the lonely mountain. Though that great kingdom was also lost, when the dragon Smaug, came to claim the treasure hoard of the dwarves. Since then, the Dwarven high king, has lived in exile. King Thorin, the King of Durin's folk. It seems that one of my fellow wizards worked with the King-in-Exile to help him chase the dragon out of their home and allow them to reclaim their lost kingdom, or at least try to." Rómestámo explained, offering a few tidbits of information on the dwarven race.

"The dwarves of Middle-Earth are a people, strong and hardy. They possess a love of gold, jewels, and arms. They are great craftsmen, able to rival even the elves in their creations." Saruman offered as well.

"So, Sauron must have sensed an opportunity to take the mountain, if Thorin's company was successful." Rómestámo guessed.

"Indeed. And Thorin's company was successful. Smaug was removed from Erebor, though it seems, that was all part of Sauron's plan." Saruman responded.

"What do you mean?" Rómestámo questioned.

"With the dragon supposedly gone, greedy eyes turned towards the Kingdom under the Mountain. Elves, and dwarves, and men, descended upon it, and it led to conflict. And at the height of that conflict, Azog launched his attack, aiming to wipe out all of them, and take the mountain for himself. He very nearly succeeded. Unknown to the armies of the Free Peoples, Sauron had secretly forged an alliance with Smaug, who joined the battle alongside a second army of orcs from Gundabad. Had it not been for the timely arrival of the Great Eagles, Smaug would have destroyed them all, and Sauron would now hold Erebor. Though his main force from Dol Guldur was destroyed, his second force from Gundabad escaped with no casualties, as did Smaug. The Dwarven King Thorin was gravely injured by Azog, and he now rests in Lothlórien, under the care of Lord Elrond. With any luck, he will survive, and unite the Dwarves. Still though, Sauron's stroke, had been masterful, and he very nearly crushed the armies of the North. Had he succeeded, he would have gained access to the fallen Kingdom of Angmar, as well as easy access to Gundabad." Saruman further explained, earning a deep sigh from Rómestámo, and troubled looks from Daenerys, and Barristan.

"To think, even while we plan here for how to face this Dark Lord, far across the world, his forces wage battles I can hardly imagine." Barristan noted.

"Indeed, my friend. Now you see why it is imperative that we defeat him. Sauron's influence is growing, and it troubles me to hear of the death stroke he nearly dealt in the Northern Lands." Rómestámo agreed.

"Forgive me, perhaps there's something I'm missing, but how is it, that this Dark Lord, can be leading armies in some distant far off place none of us have ever even heard of, while also working alongside Aegon to conquer Westeros? I thought you said he was shape shifting into this sorceress that was working with Aegon?" Tyrion questioned, curiously.

"That is what I believed, but now I am not so certain. There was always two possibilities in that regard. The presence of the Witch-King's servants in Westeros, confirms Sauron's involvement, but what he's actually doing, is still a mystery. I assumed he was hiding under the guise of this Sorceress, but there was also the possibility that she was merely an agent of the Dark Lord, one high up in his ranks. If I had to guess, she is a Black Númenórean." Rómestámo offered in response.

"Which increases our chances of freeing Aegon from her manipulations." Daenerys noted, hopefully.

"Aye, it does." Rómestámo agreed before taking note of the curious look Saruman was offering.

"Forgive me, I should explain the things that are happening here." And Rómestámo did. He went through all of the events that he knew of, including the Balrog now ruling Valyria, Aegon's conquest of Westeros with an army of orcs, and their own speculations about this Sorceress that he was supposedly marrying.

Finally they reached the part about their plans to free Aegon from her manipulations. They had sent a letter to him, asking him to come to Meereen and meet with his aunt, in order to form an alliance. They offered terms of meeting on neutral ground outside of the city, and speaking with one another. The hope was that they could lure Aegon into the city, where Rómestámo could use his magic to purge the dark influence that held a grip over him.

It was here that Saruman pointed out that it was possible that Aegon had willingly chosen to follow the forces of Darkness, in which case, their attempts would fail, but they seemed quite certain that he was being manipulated. Especially after hearing from Tyrion who traveled with Aegon for a short time before he met the Sorceress. He was described as quiet, thoughtful, kind, and noble, with a strong love for his family. He was also raised by a very honorable man, who was held in high regard by the peoples of Westeros. Not to mention his own father was said to be very noble, kind, elegant, thoughtful, and was well loved by his people.

They seemed convinced of this, so Saruman didn't try to change their minds.

So he instead asked about the finer details of their plans, and when the time came, and Rómestámo inquired as to what Saruman would do now, Saruman offered his aid.

They were more than happy to accept the aid of the White Wizard. With Saruman's help, their chances of freeing Aegon from whatever sort of control he was under went from only a possibility, to highly likely.

So they went about refining their plan, now having the aid of Saruman, meant they could afford to change things around a bit. Saruman sat back and took in their plots and schemes, devoting it all to memory. That night, he was taken to a room that would serve as his personal quarters during his time in Meereen. Once inside and safely away from the eyes of all others, Saruman drew forth the Glass Candle that had been hidden in his possession. He then used it to send forth his mind to connect to the mind of the Dark Lord.

Saruman felt his mind connect with Sauron's, and he began explaining everything he had learned. He told him what they were planning, what they thought, how they were going to go about 'freeing' him from his manipulations, all of it.

By the time he was finished, Sauron now knew exactly what his dearest aunt had in store for him, and he and Saruman were able to plan their counter-attack.

Several days went by as Saruman integrated himself into Daenerys' entourage. He was quiet most times, though would speak at length in regards to any question asked of him. He played the part of an ally quite well. None suspected his true motivations, he doubted that they could even fathom such a possibility, let alone wonder as to it's likelihood.

Finally the time came. It was a day before Aegon's arrival, and three days before the arrival of Dathrag and his army. The plan was simple. Aegon would infiltrate and distract the Blue Wizard, keeping him from turning his gaze to the west to pierce the coming darkness. With any luck, their army would be cresting the horizon before Rómestámo even realized what was coming. Saruman was also able to confirm the position of Daenerys' three dragons. One was running loose, flying around the countryside and the remaining two were chained beneath the Great Pyramid. Dealing with one dragon would be far easier than dealing with three, and that was even if it showed up.

Saruman entered into the Daenerys' throne room and waited. He had paid off a sailor to claim that a message he had carried with him to Meereen had just arrived by ship from Westeros, and have it delivered to the Queen.

Upon the message was the seal of the Dragonwolf, Aegon's personal sigil. The three headed dragon, direwolf, and a slitted eye. It was the eye that drew a chill to the room, as Rómestámo voiced how that was the symbol of Sauron.

Daenerys opened the message and read it's contents. She then lowered the message and turned her gaze to Ser Barristan.

"What does it say, my queen?" Barristan asked.

"He's coming. He'll arrive around the same time this message does. Within a day or so. Aegon has agreed to come and speak with me, and will meet me outside of the city walls." Daenerys explained to her Hand, as well as everyone else in the room.

"Than the time has come. The trap is set." Rómestámo stated.

"We need to be cautious. No doubt his sorceress is in contact with the Balrog in Valyria and will have warned him about you, Rómestámo. Did the message mention anything about the Sorceress?" Saruman inquired.

"No. It made no mention of her." Daenerys answered.

"Than we have a chance, but we must lure him into the city and away from the dragon he's most likely using to get here. I doubt he'll travel by ship, it would take to long, take him away from his kingdoms for too many months. He'll arrive on dragon-back, so we must ensure that he's as far away from the beast as possible when we perform the ritual. We all must play our parts to perfection and welcome the King of Westeros with open, and gracious arms. Yet we also not appear too jovial, lest we arouse suspicion." Rómestámo stated.

"Let's just hope everything goes the way we plan, otherwise things will get really dicey. If his dragon was used to take down a castle in Westeros, it could do some serious damage here in Meereen, if thing go badly." Daario pointed out.

"If it comes to that, I will face the dragon and attempt to defeat the beast." Saruman stepped in, offering his support in a unique way. While he'd help with the ritual to expunge whatever evil was controlling Aegon, it would be Rómestámo who was leading the ritual and putting forth the majority of the effort. So while Rómestámo would be sidelined by the ritual itself, Saruman would be mostly free to offer his aid in other ways.

"Well, that would certainly be a sight to see, but hopefully it wont come to that." Tyrion offered.

"Hopefully." Daenerys offered quietly, as a foreboding dread settled over her.

The day was fast approaching. Soon she would stand before the last of her blood left in this world, and she'd need to fight with all her strength to see him freed from the control of the Dark Lord. There was a very real chance that their attempts would end with Aegon's death, and if that came to pass, than Daenerys would once again be the last of the Targaryens.

That thought filled her with sadness, and despair. Most of her focus had been on how to free Aegon from Sauron's control, so she hadn't had much time to decide how she felt about his claim to the Iron Throne, and his success in taking it. What would she do afterwards if everything went well? If they freed Aegon, and he united his strength with hers and they marched on Valyria to defeat the Balrog there and destroy Sauron's armies there? If they marched on Westeros together, what would happen? Would she support his claim? Press for her own? Would she choose to remain in Essos, and build something here? All of these possibilities still lay on the horizon, and all came into question, if their plans succeeded. If they failed though, well then different questions would be needed, far more difficult ones, which was saying something, considering the gravity of the situation, even if everything went as planned.

All Daenerys could do was take in a deep breath to settle her nerves, and steel herself for the task to come. Soon Aegon would arrive, and they would have to play this gambit out to it's conclusion.

The following day, it happened. A towering shadow passed over Meereen, it was close to midday when a draconic shriek filled the air.

Daenerys and her council were set to break for their midday meals when they heard the sound.

Daenerys recognized it instantly, the cry of a dragon.

Soon she was out on a balcony, her eyes scanning the sky, and when her gaze fell upon it, she felt her blood run cold.

There, in the sky, was the largest creature she had ever seen. A dragon so large it dwarfed all three of hers, combined.

The monstrous creature was as black as coals, so dark in-fact, that it appeared almost like a silhouette in the midday sky.

Twice the dragon circled the city before it flew out beyond the walls of Meereen and landed upon a large, earthen hill.

The time, it seems, had finally come.

Daenerys, Rómestámo, and a troop of her advisers and guards made their way out of the city on horseback, with a group of unsullied marching along with them. Saruman chose to keep away, his part in their plans meant to be a secret so he stuck to the shadows.

Daenerys was visibly nervous as she rode out to the hill where Aegon had landed. Rómestámo, Missandei, Barristan, and Dario kept close to her side as she made her way up the hill, and Aegon's dragon came into view.

The beast was far larger up close, appearing to be as black as night. The only other distinguishing color on the massive beast were it's eyes. Eerie pale blue-green eyes turned towards them as they made their way up onto the hilltop. The beast's head was so large it could easily swallow a horse in a single bite. It let out a low bellow upon spotting them.

All eyes were on the dragon as it stared them down, their horse coming to a halt roughly fifty meters from the beast, unwilling to move any closer to the colossal dragon.

Daenerys was absolutely stunned by the sight of the beast. It looked like her children, in appearance at least, yet this creature gaze off and aura of dread, and menace. The way that it stared at them, with an almost calculating gaze, it seemed as if it was trying to understand them.

From around the beast, a man emerged, stepping out from behind the creature's massive neck, he reached a hand up and ran it along the dragon's lower jaw as he strolled around it's huge head.

The dragon let out a low grumble, as the man pulled away and advanced towards them. He made it several yards before stopping and glancing back at the dragon.

Words came forth from his mouth, what was said, none of them knew, but the dragon then let out a bellow, and reared up. It's movement startled the horses, causing most to back away in fear, as the dragon began to lift into the air.

The man stood in place as a massive gust of wind ripped past him as the giant beast took to the skies.

Within moments the dragon was soaring off, flying out over the nearby bay.

By the time the horses were settled, the dragon was already vanishing into the distance.

"I am King Aegon, of Houses Targaryen and Stark, My Dragon, Umbra. He'll be back for me in two days time. If I'm not standing here, at noon, two days from now, he'll come looking for me, and he'll start with Meereen." The man proclaimed as their attention returned to him.

Daenerys took in his form, as he spoke to them. This was her nephew, her brother's third and only surviving child. Aegon Targaryen. As Tyrion and Barristan had explained to her, he looked nothing like a Targaryen. His features were all Stark. Dark hair, piercing pale eyes. He had an average build, not overly tall, or bulky. He was handsome, his face clean shaven, his hair well kept.

He wore armor, over his chest, shoulders, and arms. Grieves covered his legs. A long dark red cloak hung from his shoulders, and emblazoned on it, was Aegon's personal sigil. He had a commanding quality to him, overpowering even. There was strength in his stance, he held himself, like a king. Even alone, standing before a sizable force of potential enemies, he was calm, cool, and focused.

"You stand before Queen Daenerys, of House Targaryen. Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons." Missandei offered in introduction, earning a raised eyebrow from Aegon before he let out a chuckle and strode forward.

He advanced until he was several meters before their entourage, his gaze passed over them, taking in each one, stopping only momentarily when he noticed Tyrion, before continuing on.

"Welcome to Meereen, King Aegon. As my handmaiden said, I am Daenerys Targaryen." Daenerys finally spoke up, drawing his gaze back to her.

"Greetings, aunt. I hope all is well in Meereen." Aegon offered in response.

Daenerys felt her heartstrings pull at that. 'aunt'. Her blood. Another Targaryen. Daenerys had to fight with all her might to keep those feelings from overtaking her. The weight of loneliness lifting off of her. The fear of being the last of her kind in all the world, evaporating. She wanted to be ecstatic, she wanted to be overjoyed, but she couldn't allow herself to let those emotions rise to the surface. The man before her may be her family, but he was by no means, a friend. He was one of the chief servants of Sauron, a puppet to the Dark Lord's machinations. If she wasn't able to free him from Sauron's control, than he would be her enemy.

So she kept herself calm, and kept her deeper feelings at bay. She was a woman on a mission. She had to ensure that things went as planned, she had to hope that Rómestámo could free Aegon from Sauron's manipulations.

"All is well here in Meereen. How fairs your campaign in Westeros. News has reached my ear that you have gone to reclaim our family's seat." Daenerys inquired.

"Over. My campaign is over. Westeros is mine. The Seven Kingdoms, are mine." Aegon responded, his gaze passing over to Tyrion who took in a breath at that.

"You've taken King's Landing, your grace?" Ser Barristan asked, after sharing a glance with Daenerys.

"Yes. King's Landing is mine. The Iron Throne, is mine. Stannis Baratheon is dead. From the Lands of Always Winter, to the Deserts of Dorne, from the Iron Islands, to the Vale of Arryn. Dornishmen, Ironborn, Crannogmen, Westermen, Northmen, Wildlings, Orcs, Trolls, and Goblins. All of Westeros, is mine." Aegon declared, his gaze once more passing over those present.

"I see. Well I'm happy to hear that your endeavor was successful. And I thank you for coming to speak with me. I only recently learned of your existence, for a time, I thought I was the only Targaryen left in the world." Daenerys offered after digesting that bit of information.

"Well you aren't. I am very much, a Targaryen. And there's also Maester Aemon, our Granduncle." Aegon said to her, earning surprise from Daenerys.

"I'm sorry…" She began.

"Aemon Targaryen. Brother to the last King Aegon. He became a brother of Night's Watch, and a Maester of the Citadel. When I took the wall and abolished the Night's Watch, he was freed from those oaths, and I asked him to become my personal Maester." Aegon explained to them.

Daenerys was surprised, to say the least. There was another Targaryen, a grand-uncle. The oldest living Targaryen.

"So Maester Aemon still lives? After hearing of your conquest of the Night's Watch, and the Wall, I wasn't so sure he had survived. He'd be over a hundred years old by now." Tyrion noted, again earning surprise from Daenerys as she tried to wrap her mind around that. A hundred year old Targaryen.

"How is he, this Maester Aemon?" Daenerys inquired.

"He is well. He resides in King's Landing now, and is part of the reason I came here. He was always interested to hear about you, and the things you were doing, and when I received your message, he convinced me to come and speak with you. I do not wish for conflict between us, I don't want to fight my only other living relative. I came here in the hopes that we could have peace between us." Aegon offered to her.

"That was my hope as well." Daenerys said to him.

"Was it?" Aegon inquired with a focused gaze.

Daenerys stared back at him for several long moments, sensing the challenge in his words.

"I know the company you keep, Queen Daenerys. The Blue Wizard is an old foe of my wife, and I don't know what he's been telling you. She thought this was a trap, and I'm inclined to believe the same. Which is why I told my dragon to come looking for me, if I'm not back, and burn everything that gets in his way." Aegon revealed, his gaze drifting to Rómestámo, who stared back with a critical look.

"Your wife, you mean the sorceress from the far north, the one who leads the orcs?" Daenerys clarified.

"Her name is Lilith, and yes, she is the Queen of the Orcs." Aegon expressed.

"Her allies in Valyria have shown to be our enemies, we are right to be weary, King Aegon." Ser Barristan pointed out.

"Lilith's allies in Valyria are not my people, nor are they under my command. Whatever reason you and they have come to blows is between you and them. I am not king of Valyria, nor do I have any say in what happens there. Your conflict with the Dread Lord, is not of my making. From what I heard, there was no great conflict between you. All that I heard led me to believe that you and your Blue Wizard murdered several messengers who came to deliver a warning to the Mother of Dragons, against turning her eyes towards Valyria. Considering what has happened to Astapor, Yunkai, and now Meereen, I think such actions would be warranted." Aegon expressed, glancing at Ser Barristan than back to Daenerys.

"So you are fine with commanding slavers?" Daenerys questioned.

"I hold no authority in Valyria. The Dread Lord is an ally to my wife. I understand you've made great gains on your own, Queen Daenerys, but I also understand that you have few allies. So perhaps you are unaware of how alliances work. What I do in my kingdom, and what the Dread Lord does in his, are two entirely separate things. I hold no command over the Dread Lord, or his servants. What they do there, no matter my feelings on it, are their business. I command an army of orcs, Wildlings, Northmen, Riverlords, Reachmen, Ironborn Reavers, and more. Some are noble, and honorable, some are wild and vicious, and some are cruel, and monstrous. I temper their qualities to the best of my abilities, and that is where my focus lies. Not on the goings ons of other peoples. You wish to judge me by association, there are Ironborn ships in your harbor, are they just guests, or have you made allies with them? They're raiders, reavers, rapists, and murderers. I notice you have some Dothraki in your guard, rapists, and savages, no better than any orc. I can clearly see your Unsullied, an army of slaves, and if I recall correctly, part of an Unsullied's training is to murder a baby in front of it's mother. Tell me, Queen Daenerys, does that blood ever wash away? How many Unsullied do you command? I know not what you paid for them, all I do know is that if what I've heard is correct, each one of these soldiers came at the price of baby's life. I don't know what the Blue Wizard has told you, but I can promise you, my army of orcs has killed fewer babies than yours." Aegon responded, his gaze drilling into her, causing Daenerys to take in a deep breath as he spoke.

"It's a pretty hill, to find yourself on, 'Breaker of Chains'. To go around freeing slaves, and patting yourself on the back. But in the end, your just another conqueror, forcing her vision upon the world, right or wrong, it doesn't matter. How are Astapor and Yunkai doing right now, now that the slaves are free? Are their lives any better? Do you know?" Aegon continued, causing Daenerys' eyes to lower. She had nothing to say to that, knowing full well that Astapor and Yunkai were back in the hands of slavers, and all those she worked to free, were no doubt back in chains.

"So you would allow such pain and suffering to endure, when there is a chance to stop it?" Questioned Rómestámo, speaking up for the first time.

"There isn't any stopping it. Is that what you've been filling their minds with? The idea of stopping what's coming. The whole idea is a dream." Aegon shook his head.

"So you've thought on it as well?" Tyrion noted.

"I've considered as many possibilities as I could come up with. In the end though, I've seen the army she's amassed, I've seen the powers at her command. Surely you've heard, lord Tyrion, from your aunt Genna, just what she did to the Lion's Mouth. She has over a dozen, monstrously huge dragons at her command. I've seen giants, dead men, wolves, spiders, things beyond imagining, all serving her. She offered me the opportunity to take the Seven Kingdoms with as little bloodshed as possible. Using my name, the Targaryen name, she took Westeros, and only the Wildlings, Ironborn, Westerlanders, and Stormlanders, felt the fury of her army. She was ready to lay waste to all of Westeros, instead we now hold the continent with only two kingdoms truly devastated. I've come to learn a very hard truth, Lord Tyrion, but it's one you must all learn, if you hope to survive." Aegon responded with a cold look, allowing for but a moment, a brief flash of terror to pass into his eyes, enough so that those like Rómestámo, Tyrion, and even Barristan could see it.

"And what truth is that, King Aegon?" Rómestámo asked.

"That it is better to be the right hand of Evil, then in it's path." Aegon responded, his tone losing it's strength, and commanding presence. It was Aegon's hope that he could convince them that he was a man, trapped by fear of a force beyond reckoning, that he was in service to evil because he had no other choice, because it was the only way he could protect people.

If he was successful, they would see him less as an enemy, and be more encouraged to go through with there plan to try and 'save' him, which would allow him to get nice and close to Rómestámo, where he could cripple the Blue Wizard, and put an end to their machinations.

"It doesn't need to be that way, there is still hope. The power of this 'sorceress' may be vast, but all is not yet lost. Please, King Aegon, hear us out." Rómestámo offered to him, earning Aegon's gaze.

"He's right, we can still find a way to stop the darkness from winning, but we have to work together. Give us a chance." Daenerys said to him, hoping that he would at least hear them out, and give them the opportunity to show him that they could find a way to defeat the Dark Lord.

Aegon stared at them for several long moments, before letting out a sigh.

"You have two days. At the end of that two days, you'll either have convinced me, or I'll require your allegiance, otherwise, you be left to fend off the Dread Lord on your own." Aegon stated, his tone seemingly filled with exhaustion.

"Then let us see what these next few days bring. While you are here, you are under my protection, King Aegon. I promise, no harm will come to you." Daenerys proclaimed, earning a nod from Aegon. She then gestured to one of her men, and a horse was brought over to Aegon.

He mounted it, and joined Queen Daenerys in returning to Meereen. As they marched onward, back into the city, Aegon allowed his forlorn appearance to fade, and in it's place, his calm regal face returned. He allowed his eyes to pass over the city as they passed through the streets, and took in how the people of Meereen offered their Queen praise as she passed. It was obvious to him, that with Rómestámo's council, whatever problems had been brewing within this city since Daenerys took it, they had been dealt with.

He would likely find little aid from the old masters, or their allies in what little time he had, so there was almost no point in trying to pursue that angle. Instead he would stick to his original plan, and allow the seeds of darkness Rómestámo and Daenerys believed had been planted in him, to reveal themselves.

That night, Aegon had dinner with Daenerys, and several of her advisers, Saruman remained in the shadows, though Aegon caught sight of the White Wizard, who was hiding as a servant. Covered in gray robes, and heavily hunched over, a glamour placed over his face to alter his appearance. He was never overly far, but he kept from drawing attention to himself.

It was during dinner that Tyrion finally broke the ice, and began conversing with Aegon, he started by inquiring about how Aegon had found his way to the sorceress's kingdom to begin with. The question appeared innocent enough, even if Aegon saw through the ruse.

Still, he answered, using the same lie he had fed to the people of Westeros, telling them how an orc band found him while he was exploring North of the Wall, and took him to the Lands of Always Winter.

Though this was where the story changed. He told them how he was brought to Lilith's fortress, an absolutely monolithic expanse of stone and wood and steel. It was so massive it made Harrenhal seem small by comparison which earned surprise from Tyrion, Varys, and Barristan. He explained how hoards of wights toiled endlessly across the frozen expanse, constantly expanding the fortress, and delving into the earth. He spoke of how great pillars of steam rose up from the depths where massive forges burned ceaselessly.

When he was brought before Lilith, he had long since been awed by the scope of her forces, but the woman herself, was far beyond that. He told them of how he conversed with her, and how she had shown him a vision of the day he was born, and the event that had taken place at the Tower of Joy. He told them how she had shown him a vision of the future, where all the Seven Kingdoms had been brought to ruin, with Lilith's banner flying high over the devastation. And finally he spoke of the offer he had made to her, in the hope of escaping that fate. Of how he would conquer Westeros, in her name, and use his familial ties, to help him do it.

They asked him several questions, and he spoke with bleakness, and an obvious weariness. Several times, during his explanation he would pause, as if remembering something horrible, and he would allow the color to drain from his face. It would take several seconds for him to continue, and often times when he did, his voice came very quietly.

He had to fight with himself, to keep from smiling as he took notice of the pitying looks he received from Daenerys, and her handmaiden, as well as the concern from Tyrion and Ser Barristan.

When he finished telling them the story he took a long drink of wine and stared off.

Again, it was Tyrion who broke the silence, deciding to turn try and bring Aegon out of the state he was in by inquiring about something else.

"Did Sansa ever make it back to her family?" Tyrion inquired.

Aegon blinked several times before turning his gaze to Tyrion and offering a small smile.

"Yes, she did. She's safe now." Aegon said to him, earning a nod from Tyrion.

"That's good. I would like you to know that I had no hand in our forced union, and it remained unconsummated." Tyrion said to him.

"I know, she told me. Said you were one of the few people who showed her any kindness in King's Landing. Even told me how you threatened your King when he called for the bedding ceremony." Aegon responded, earning a snort of amusement from Tyrion, and Varys as Tyrion took another sip of wine.

"Yes, she is a sweet and innocent girl, and she didn't deserve what he put her through. I'm happy to hear she's back with her family." Tyrion offered to him.

"Just so you know, Lord Tyrion, your niece is safe as well. She is back in King's Landing, and remains unharmed, and unspoiled. I don't intend to bring her any harm either." Aegon offered in return.

"I'm thankful. I'm sure her mother will be happy to hear that she's safe. Now, since we are on the topic, I would like to inquire as to what became of my nephew Joffrey, and my father? I'm assuming neither are among the living any longer, but, it would put my mind at rest to know of their fates." Tyrion asked, earning a slow nod from Aegon as he sat forward in his seat and locked eyes with Tyrion.

"Your father's life was ended for his crimes against my brother and sister, I took his life myself. As for Joffrey, for what he did and threatened to do to Sansa, I had him publicly castrated, and then I fed him to my direwolves." Aegon answered honestly, though in Tywin's case, leaving out important context.

Hearing what had befalled Joffrey, Tyrion took in a breath, and then took in a drink of wine. Others at the table shifted nervously with Daario Naharis even raising his eyebrows as he imagined such a fate.

As Aegon answered their questions and conversed with them, he allowed the darkness within to rise and fall intentionally. When he was speaking of darker topics, the darkness would fall, but as he spoke of his family and the people he cared for and his mood brightened, the darkness would rise, giving the impression that it was snatching as his happiness and joy, draining it out of him.

He allowed it to happen several times as the night went on and he was asked a bit about his life by Daenerys. He appeared happier, calmer, more at peace, as he spoke of his family, and the things he enjoyed, only for his mood to darken as the conversation went on and the light in his eyes to fade.

Aegon knew, from Saruman's report, what Rómestámo was looking for. He was searching for the signs of possession, of the Dark Lord's influence on Aegon's psyche, drawing at the strings of his mind, and affecting his personality and decision-making abilities.

Knowing full well that Rómestámo had spent thousands of years combating him in the eastern lands, Sauron knew full well that Rómestámo had an eye for such things, and knew all the various types of spells and potions that Sauron employed to control people. So all Aegon had to do was mimic some of these effects, at least mildly, enough to make them believe they could still save him.

That night, after their dinner, Aegon was taken to his room. He spent the night awake, staring off, as he planned his actions for the following day. It was obvious that his attempts to hide the presence of the One Ring, had worked. The ring was still on his finger, but Aegon was actively suppressing it's aura, and he kept it hidden under a black glove. When Tyrion had asked him about the glove, Aegon pulled back part of it to reveal a nasty burn on the back of his hand. He then told them that it was an injury he had picked up during the battle to take Casterly Rock.

He told them that the injury made his hand sensitive to light, and heat, so he wore a glove over it to keep it from being agitated, it also helped with the itching, as he less likely the hurt himself while scratching.

Everyone seemed to accept it, with no real reason not to, it even offered him the opportunity to chat with Tyrion about the scar across his face, and even speak with Ser Barristan about some of his old battle scars.

The whole point of Aegon's charade was to lure the Blue Wizard into a false sense of certainty. He knew he could overpower him, he knew he could beat him, the only thing he had to ensure was the Rómestámo did not escape once he revealed himself. So he had to get him close, had to wait until they performed the ritual on him, to banish the evil that had taken root in his mind. At that point, Rómestámo would be within arms reach of him, and he could ensure that he marked the Blue Wizard, ensuring that even if he tried to run, Aegon could easily track him, and give chase.

Despite his certainty in victory, Aegon knew that Rómestámo was a clever foe. He had, survived in Sauron's lands for thousands of years, despite being one of the most hunted figures among the tribes of the East and South. He knew well enough not to underestimate this foe.

The following day he awoke early, and had the guards placed outside his door direct him to place where he could practice with his sword.

That was where he was located by Daenerys and her handmaiden a short time later. They watched him for a time as he hammered away at a training dummy. He allowed himself to build up a mild sweat before actively taking notice of them.

He sheathed his sword and took a moment to wipe the sweat from his brow before approaching them, and offering them greetings.

"You're up early." Daenerys noted.

"I often awake around this time. The responsibilities of a King are very time consuming. I have to find some time to keep my skills sharp, otherwise I'll end up like Robert Baratheon." Aegon responded.

"Did you sleep well?" Daenerys inquired.

"Well enough. I'm still not overly used to the heat. Not even in King's Landing was it this warm." Aegon answered, earning a smile from Daenerys.

"What is it like, King's Landing I mean. I have only what my brother, and my advisers have told me about it. It's the city our family built, I can only imagine what it must be like." Daenerys questioned with genuine curiosity.

"King's Landing has a beauty to it, but it has soured greatly under the rule of the Baratheon's and the Lannisters. The streets are overrun with the homeless and the destitute, and little attention has been paid to the plumbing, the whole place stinks. The Red Keep is immaculate however, and I can see the beauty of what could be. King's Landing is not without it's charm, but as it is now, I feel that it would disappoint any of your expectations." Aegon answered, earning a curious look from Daenerys as she took in his words.

Aside from Daenerys and her handmaiden, several Dothraki guards also stood around her, and she was being tailed by Daario.

"What is it like, to sit upon the Iron Throne?" Daenerys asked of him.

Aegon was quiet for a moment as he thought on the best way to answer her question.

"It feels like power. You sit upon this mountain of twisted steel, that constantly bites and scrapes at your flesh. It's like the throne is constantly drinking in your essence, your blood, your pain, and yet, you never feel the sting of your injuries while upon it. You feel mighty, untouchable. You feel as it you could make anything happen, that any ambition, no matter how great or small, could be commanded from upon that throne, and it would be done. Yet, it is an abhorrent and ugly thing. As intimidating as it is dangerous. It looms over the throne room like a great terror, holding absolute power over the hearts and minds of men. That is what it feels like, Queen Daenerys, that is what our family built so long ago, with the blood and steel of six kingdoms." Aegon answered.

Daenerys took in his words, reflecting on them as he spoke. She had only ever seen the throne in a vision, granted to her by warlocks in the House of the Undying, yet even from that vision, she could understand what he was saying.

"I see. Thank you, for the explanation. Would you like to join us, we were just on our way to break our fast?" Daenerys inquired, earning a genuine and charming smile from Aegon.

"Of course, your grace. It would be my pleasure. But before we go, I would like to offer my apologies." Aegon accepted.

"For what?" Daenerys asked in return.

"For my words yesterday when we first met. I was perhaps too confrontational. I spent most of the flight here imagining what I would say to you, and I feel as though I allowed my emotions and exhaustion get the best of me. I feel as though I was overly blunt, and overly confrontational, and for that, I apologize." Aegon said to her, earning a gentle smile from her.

"It's alright. I understand what you mean. Since the moment I first learned about you, I've wanted to speak with you, to get the chance to know the last of my kin. Now I've learned that there's yet another of us, still out there. I cannot express how happy that makes me. My grievances lie with the Dread Lord of Valyria, and with your sorceress, but not with you, King Aegon. You and I, and this Maester Aemon, we are the last of our family, and I don't want us to be enemies." Daenerys expressed to him.

"I feel the same way, Queen Daenerys. I want there to be no bad blood between us. We are the blood of the dragon, and we should stand together, not apart." Aegon agreed with a smile.

Daenerys offered him a hopeful smile, it lasted only so long as his gaze lingered on her, though the moment his eyes turned away, it fell. Aegon began walking, and Daenerys walked with him, in her mind, she knew that in spite of all her hopes and desires, Aegon was still a threat. So long as the power of Sauron held sway over him, he would always be her adversary. So despite the hope she felt at his words, she knew that the Dark Lord's hold would need to be broken, before they could truly be a family.

As they walked, Daenerys decided to continue chatting with him, hoping to get her mind off of what needed to be done.

"I'm curious, King Aegon, you criticized my actions here in Slaver's Bay, but I wonder, what would you have done differently?" Daenerys asked him.

"My criticism did not stem from what you did, Queen Daenerys, but from what you didn't do." Aegon responded as they walked.

"Oh, and what didn't I do? Do you believe I should have done more to prevent the masters from returning to power?" Daenerys questioned him.

"That might have helped, but no. It has more to do with the slaves. You broke their chains, and then you left. They are people who have only ever known slavery. You took that from them, believing it to be right, and forced freedom upon them, without teaching them what that means, and showing them the responsibility that comes with being free. What you did for them was a momentary nicety, but without showing them what freedom means, without giving them the tools to survive, they simply ended up enslaved again, and I'm sure their new masters, are far more cruel than the ones who came before. Arguably, what you did, could be causing greater harm. I admit my information on the events occurring on this side of the world isn't wholly accurate, but I have heard that Astapor and Yunkai have returned to the hands of the Slave Masters." Aegon answered her.

"I see. You are right, in that regard. Thinking on it, I can see the differences between those I freed and brought with me, and those I simply freed. For many, it was their whole life, even if it was a cruel one. I should have done more, I should do more." Daenerys agreed after a few moments of thought, earning a kind smile from her handmaiden.

"Change can only begin, by setting things in motion. What you did was admirable, but it wasn't enough. That is where my criticism comes from, freeing someone is not so simple as just breaking their chains." Aegon stated.

"You seem to know much about the life of a slave, King Aegon." Missandei noted with a curious look.

"I had good teachers." Aegon responded.

The day was spent much like this, in pleasant conversation. It was not until midday that Rómestámo made an appearance, and the time came once more, for more difficult discussions.

"You wish to convince me that Lilith is evil, and that following her will only lead to misery? I already know that. I know what she is." Aegon argued with the Blue Wizard.

"It is more than that, King Aegon. This, Lilith, is more than she appears." Rómestámo explained to him.

"How so?" Aegon asked with sigh.

"We believe that she is actually a servant of a powerful magical being named Sauron. A shape-shifter, and sorcerer. He's using her, to manipulate you into doing his bidding. This Lilith, she is just another of his pawns." Daenerys said to him.

Aegon allowed himself to make a face at that, and had to cover up the laugh that threatened to escape his lips with a scoff. They though that Lilith was just a pawn. When he had heard from Saruman what they believed and what they were planning, it struck him as hilarious that the two possibilities in their minds were that either Sauron was pretending to be a woman, just to fuck him, or that Lilith was just some servant of the Dark Lord, a simple pawn.

Either option he found amusing, though the latter nearly sent him cackling down the halls. Were it not for his inability to discern just how Lilith would react to hearing what they thought of her, he'd have run to tell her immediately. She would either find it just as funny as he did, or she'd be insulted and choose to personally come to Meereen to show them all, that she was no mere puppet.

"Sauron is a master manipulator, and he's using her to dig his claws into you. You must allow us to help you. There is still time to stop him, to counter him, if we act quickly enough." Rómestámo urged with a powerful look.

"And how is it, you intend to help me?" Aegon asked as he turned his gaze to the Blue Wizard.

"By removing his hold over you. That darkness, that furls and festers in your heart, it is not you. I can help you, I can banish that darkness and free you from it's grasp." Rómestámo said to him, taking a step towards Aegon, only for Aegon's hand to fall to his sword, and his gaze to harden. The movement was spotted by all of the guards in the room, who raised their weapons to protect Daenerys.

"Peace, King Aegon. I mean you no harm." Rómestámo offered, taking a step back.

"Keep away from me, wizard. I will have none of your tricks. If that is what you believe, than so be it, but I will not subject myself to your machinations, on a whim. Advance on me again, and you will feel the sting of my blade." Aegon warned with vitriol, allowing the darkness within him to radiate outward, just a bit. Just enough to confirm in Rómestámo's mind that Aegon was under the influence of some dark force.

"Remember my warning, Queen Daenerys, if I am not on that hilltop, tomorrow at midday, my dragon will come looking for me." His gaze turning towards Daenerys, who took in a deep breath at that.

"I haven't forgotten. You are still under my protection, King Aegon. Rómestámo meant no harm." Daenerys responded, her gaze passing over her guards as she did, causing them to lower their weapons.

Aegon's gaze lingered on her for a moment, allowing that connection to form. He could tell how much Daenerys wanted to save him, he could see it so clearly how she wanted to have him as family, as another Targaryen in the world. This left her conflicted, yet she was stalwart in her goals of seeing him freed. Even if it hurt her to see him in distress. Especially as she learned more about him, and how he seemed to be a good man, who'd been trapped in a desperate situation. He had them all convinced that he was doing what he believed was best for the survival of as many people as possible.

Aegon released his sword and stormed out of the room, leaving them all to their thoughts.

It was their that Saruman appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and spoke with Rómestámo. The two spoke of what they had felt, and confirmed that Aegon was under the control of a darker influence. It was decided then and there, that tomorrow morning, they would perform the ritual, and banish the evil that was controlling Aegon. While Saruman would be there to assist, it would primarily fall on Rómestámo to banish this darkness, as Saruman's strength would be needed to deal with Aegon's dragon, should the beast reappear before the ritual was over.

Daenerys accepted this, and offered her hope that it would be successful and that Aegon would be freed.

Aegon spent the rest of the day, away from them. Only allowing himself to rejoin them once it was time for dinner. Things were awkward at the dinner table, but Aegon knew they would be, Rómestámo was absent, most likely to give the impression that Daenerys had control over him, and had purposefully kept him away.

At the right moment, the Dark Lord spoke up.

"I feel I should apologize for my actions earlier today. I was overly paranoid, and should not have reacted like that." He said, earning surprise from Daenerys whom quickly blinked it away.

"No, you needn't apologize. Rómestámo is a good man, but he can be a bit, overzealous at times." Daenerys offered in response.

Aegon was quiet for a moment, as he lowered his gaze to the table.

"I feel it happening more and more. My anger and frustration growing. I never used to have outbursts like this. I… just thought it was the stress of ruling and commanding. Maybe though… maybe your wizard was right…" Aegon said to her.

"You're trying to do what's best for your people. I can't imagine the burden that you carry, to stand before this evil. I believe you're a good man, King Aegon. You'll find a way through this." Daenerys said to him, her kindness and gentle heart shining through.

"I thank you, Queen Daenerys. I think I should retire for the night. I must prepare for the journey home, but… I would like to speak to you some more in the morning, before I go. I do not wish for us to park on poor terms." Aegon said to her as he rose to his feet.

"Nor I, King Aegon. In the morning then." Daenerys said to him with a smile, earning one in return.

Aegon quickly retired, allowing himself to relax as he prepared for the morning and what was coming.

The following day, Aegon awoke early and had breakfast with Daenerys and her advisers. Conversation was pleasant and calm. They then moved to where Daenerys and her advisers held their meetings. When they arrived, they found Rómestámo and Saruman waiting for them. Aegon's gaze fell to Rómestámo immediately upon entering, and then to Saruman, when he saw Saruman, he feigned confusion.

As he was entering, two Second Sons fell upon him from either side of the doorway, grabbing him, and pulling his sword from his belt and tossing it aside.

"Don't hurt him!" Daenerys commanded, a dozen Unsullied entered the room as well as several more mercenaries and Daenerys Dothraki guards.

"Forgive me, King Aegon, but we have little time to spare." Rómestámo began.

Aegon glared at him, than turned his gaze to Daenerys. She stared back with obvious pain as his eyes bored into her.

"I'm sorry, please, don't fight him. We only want to help you." Daenerys said to him.

"Liar! Oathbreaker!" Aegon snarled at her, causing Daenerys to shudder at his words, but she held firm.

Rómestámo approached him as the two men held him on his knees.

"King Aegon, I release you from this darkness. I beg of you, do not fight me. Allow me to free you!" Rómestámo commanded, as he placed his hand on Aegon's head, and placed the tip of his staff to Aegon's chest.

The Dark Lord felt Rómestámo's essence enter into his vessel, felt it push towards the darkness that lay within.

He began speak spells as he tried to draw forth the darkness and banish it from Aegon's body.

Those around could only watch in amazement as wind began to build, and Rómestámo's robes began to billow in the unnatural breeze.

Rómestámo was speaking spells as he performed the banishment ritual, his eyes were firmly shut and he was focused on the darkness deep within Aegon. He was drawing it forth, pulling it to him so he could throw it out of the King's body.

Aegon struggled for only a moment, as a cruel smile spread across his face.

He allowed his darkness to rise. He felt Rómestámo grab hold of it, and pull it upwards and out of the pit of Aegon's soul.

Aegon allowed this, he allowed his darkness to rise up. All of it.

Rómestámo continued to mutter spells for several long moments before stopping. His eyes snapped open and fell to Aegon who was staring up at him smiling.

With a sudden burst of strength, Aegon ripped his arms free from the two men holding. With one arm he shoved aside the Blue Wizard's staff, and with the other, he seized Rómestámo's outstretched arm.

Aegon's hand glowed brightly burning through the cloth of the wizard's sleeve and burning a mark into his arm.

Rómestámo let out a cry of pain before pulling back and dropping to a knee, his eyes falling on the mark as horror filled his eyes.

Aegon was quickly grabbed by the two men again, though this time he tossed them across the room. The two slammed hard into the stone walls which cracked under the impact.

Missandei let out a shriek of fear as Aegon rose to his feet, his Holly wand snapping into his hand from the holster hidden in his sleeve.

With a devilish smirk he began backing away from them, towards the open doorways that led onto the balcony overlooking Meereen. With a chuckle Aegon pointed in wand into the air, and from it, leapt a red flash of light which shot high into the sky, before shining brightly. It was early morning, and the sky was filled with clouds. The ruse had worked, thanks to Aegon and Saruman keeping Rómestámo's full attention, and thanks to Saruman learning of the patrol routes of Daenerys' men outside of Meereen, Dathrag was able to get his army nice and close to the city without being spotted. At little more than three miles away, a large vanguard of the army, led by Dathrag himself had been able to get close to the city using the cover of darkness.

Now that Aegon had given the signal, Dathrag's force, which consisted of nearly three thousand Valyrian heavy cavalrymen would charge at the city, a the order would be given for the rest of the army which was a few miles further out, to march on the city as well.

"Aegon!" Aegon heard Daenerys call out his name, drawing him attention back into the council chamber.

"Not Aegon my dear. There was one possibility that you didn't anticipate for, Pallando. Well, actually a few, but you needn't worry about those at the moment." Aegon stated as he stepped forward back into the room.

As he advanced the room grew much darker.

"Rómestámo, what is happening?" Barristan demanded as he pulled Daenerys behind him.

"It's him…" Rómestámo uttered in fear and disbelief.

"Who?" Daario questioned as he raised his sword. By now a troop of Unsullied had formed around Daenerys and was ushering her back towards the exit to the chamber.

Suddenly a shriek filled the air. The cry of a dragon. The pyramid suddenly shook as something massive landed upon the roof. Loud scrapping could be heard, and behind Aegon, dust and debris could be seen falling from the exterior of the pyramid above.

That was when something large dropped down from above landing on the balcony. It blocked out the whole doorway for a moment before turning and kneeling down.

Many of the inhabitants of the room felt their jaws fall open at the sight of the towering Oleg-Hai, which upon spotting them, let out a menacing chuckle before dipping into the room and rising to it's feet. It stepped off to the side of Aegon, when suddenly a second troll dropped down, and repeated the action. Moments later, the wracking of bones could be heard, as dozens of corpses dropped down from above, a few of them missing the balcony and falling down the pyramid.

These corpses then rose and began to advance, their eyes a pale blue and their appearance rotted nearly to the bone.

A few moments after the corpses entered the room, the creature above them lifted off of the pyramid and flew down towards the city below. They all could clearly see the form of Aegon's dragon, which must have carried these servants up to the top of pyramid, dive down towards the main gate facing the west.

"The name of the game, is panic." Aegon stated with a chuckle, just as Umbra unleashed a torrent of turquoise flames upon the gatehouse and walls of Meereen.

"Now would be the time to run." Aegon said to them with a cruel smile as his eyes began to blaze a fiery orange.

As the two trolls began to advance, Rómestámo shot to his feet and slammed his staff into the ground unleashing a blinding light facing at Aegon and his troop.

He then turned and shouted at them to run. The command was ignored by none as Daenerys and her advisers were ushered out of the room. Rómestámo and Saruman quickly caught up to them as they raced into the throne room.

"What is going on?!" Tyrion demanded with uncertainty and panic.

"Rómestámo?" Daenerys tried to question the Blue Wizard.

"It's him! I was wrong, I was so very wrong, about everything! You need to run! Flee this place! You must live, keep hope alive! Saruman and I will hold him back!" Rómestámo instructed her, before turning towards the passageway they had just come from. They could hear the roar of the trolls, and the bodies of several Unsullied were seen tossed through the hallway as they were cut down by one of the advancing trolls.

Rómestámo quickly used his magic to seal shut the doors on either side of the hallway and began muttering a spell that would keep them sealed and potentially hold back the Dark Lord for a few moments.

"Run, Daenerys. You have to escape!" Rómestámo told her.

"Tell me what is happening, what happened to Aegon, what is going on?!" Daenerys demanded.

"That is not Aegon. It's the Dark Lord." He said to her, causing all within range who heard his words to turn to him.

"He's… he shape-shifted into Aegon?" Daenerys questioned with disbelief.

"Yes, he was tricking us this whole time! You must flee, go now! His dragon will burn this city to ash. You must escape, warn the world. I will find you, if I survive. Go now!" Rómestámo commanded before turning back towards to the sealed doorway, only to find Saruman standing before him.

"Saruman, what…?" Rómestámo began only for his breath to leave him in a gasp. He stumbled back, and dropped to a knee, a hand falling to his chest. There, sticking out of his ribs, was a dagger.

"Saruman?" Daenerys eyes went wide as she saw this happen.

"Against the Dark Lord, there can be no victory." He stated with an intense gaze.

Rómestámo let out a cry of rage as he let out a spell towards Saruman, only for Saruman to bat the spell into the ceiling with his staff and respond with a blast of energy that knocked Rómestámo back into the group that was heading down the stairs of the Throne Room, causing them all to tumble painfully down them.

Daenerys was also tossed to the ground by the spell, but she was quickly pulled to her feet by Daario and Ser Barristan.

Saruman offered them a cruel smile as the doors behind him exploded off their hinges and in stormed Aegon and his two trolls, along with around thirty wights.

Daenerys was quickly pulled to the stairs and began racing down them as her Unsullied rushed forward.

Their spears and shields did very little against the wights who were little more than bones at this point. Even if they were speared, they simply kept advancing before stabbing or clawing at their respective target.

Any time some Unsullied would cluster together and form a shield wall against one of the trolls, said troll would just grab something large and heavy, like a corpse, or even one of the wights and toss it into the crowd of them, knocking several of them to the ground and breaking their formation.

Rómestámo was pulled to his feet by Daenerys as they made their way past him. He rose up, his eyes filled with fear and disbelief as he stared up at Aegon and Saruman who stood at the top of the stairs staring down at them.

"Oh Pallando, you've been a thorn in my side for far to long. Let's put an end to this, shall we?" Aegon said to him his eyes blazing in anticipation.

With a roar of rage, and defiance, Rómestámo unleashed a blast of magic which Aegon dispelled with a swing of his wand. There the two magical beings began their battle. They fought on the stairs of the Throne of Meereen, on the platform above, the last of Daenerys' men were being cut down, while below, dozens more were pouring in as she was being rushed to the doors.

It hadn't yet set it, but the Battle for Meereen, had officially begun.
