The white painted mansion looked stunning as the paths filled by fairy light trees leading all the way to the garden where the ceremony was to be neon sign at the gate boldly said Regina Weds Emma. Once you pass the entrance walk through the flowerbed pathway with fiary light trees on either sides leading to the main garden. You could see the big apple tree at the centre. There is a small stage set up right in front of the tree. Its covered with a wide vareity of roses on either side. Benches neatly lined up for the guests. Sure its no small wedding. This is the grand wedding of Regina Mills , the daughter of greatest business tycoon Henry Mills. He is the emperor of real estate business all around New York. But the wedding is happening in a quiet town of Maine called Storybrooke. The mansion will be a wedding gift for the couple from Henry as it was his and his wife Cora's first home.
Speaking of the couples, inside the mansion Regina was getting ready for the wedding. She is the most beautiful bride you could ever lay eyes on. Her best friend Katherine was giving instructions to the stylists as they prepared Regina. She wore a vintage white long sleeved wedding dress. It was her mother's wedding gown with some alterations made to look a bit more modern. She looked like a princess with the laced neck and sleeves. Her long brunette hair braided with tiny white flowers along the braid which adorned her shoulder. Regina stood in front of the full length mirror. Her hands clasped tightly at the wedding bouquet with red roses, her favourite. A single tear rolled down her eyes. This was her dream wedding but she couldn't be happy. Katherine was the first to notice the vacant expression and the tears in Regina's eyes. She excused others from the room and stood near to Regina.
"Regina, you promised." It was rather a statement than a question.
"I am sorry, I can't help it " Regina replied in a small voice.
Katherine put a hand on her best friend's shoulder and gently rubbed. "It will be fine, just think about your father"
Regina closed her eyes for a moment at the mention of her father and took a deep breath. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she could hear it. A brief moment passed by as she opened her eyes, smiled softly and turned to her friend, " I am ready "
Katherine smiled watery and hugged her bestfriend.
Outside Henry was welcoming the family of the groom. The Nolan's family just arrived. Henry made way to greet the in laws, David Nolan and his wife Mary Margaret.
"Where's Em ?" David asked his younger son Neal as they walked inside.
"Probably drinking in the car." Neal replied not taking eyes of his cellphone as he played away his favourite game.
"Again, how much more did he need? Now you take your eyes of the phone , its your brother's wedding. Call Red and bring his ass over here. " David silently yelled at his son who sighed and dialled his brother's one and only best friend Red aka Ruby.
Ruby pulled out her phone as it rang in her pocket. She made a face at the name popped up "Little Brat", she looked at her bestfriend who was trying hard to open the small bottle of tequila without breaking it. She quickly grabbed the bottle before the scene could get any worse.
"Hey I was trying to drink it" The blonde with a choppy pixie haircut turned to his friend as was about to give an earful but was stopped as she waved the phone screen showing his brother's name on the screem.
"Arggg..." Em rolled his eyes in disgust.
"Em , we talked about this. Its time , just think about your parents. " Ruby placed a hand on Em's thighs an squeezed gently.
"Fine... fine.. get me out of here dammit.." Em sighed and started pulling the door of his 1972 Volkswagen Yellow Beetle.
Both of them stepped out as graciously as they could with all the booze they consumed on the way. David pulled Em to the side almost yelled in his ear "You couldn't be sober for atleast once in your life, now pull yourself together or else god knows what I will do to your puny ass "
"Yea, yeah dad.. whatever you say" Em shrugged him off and walked with his friend. Henry hugged Em at the entrance which felt so much awkward as he wasn't a hugger.
Em was taken to the dressing room for final touch up. He was wearing a black tuxedo which hugged his muscles well enough for the ladies to drool with a black tie and black leather shoes. He has his Rolex watch which he received as a gift from his grandfather before he died. Looking outside the window he could see the garden, the wedding decorations and the guests arriving. He sighed as he fidgetted with his fingers.
"Em, you okay? " Ruby asked, as she fixed her tie. She was Em's best man.
"You know that red" He simply said without even looking at his friend.
"It's been 5 years Em, let it go " Ruby stepped forward to comfort her friend.
"I don't want to talk about it, lets get this over with " Em said, anger clear in his voice. Ruby knew not to push her friend further. She just nodded.
The wedding music started to play as the guests sat in places. Em looked finally at the mirror, fixed his tie and took a deep breath. On the other side, Regina help the bonquet like her life depended on it as she stood at the door.
