Dawn was stabbed so that her blood could be collected to open a doorway between Earth and another realm for revenge. And in opening the doorway, it creates a magical backlash in the other universe; a backlash that leads to the return of those thought dead. Now Buffy and some new friends must prevent the Whitewalkers from using the doorway to return to the Earth realm.
