Thank you all for reading. I wanted to write a supernatural fanfiction for a while, I hadn't since I was in high school during the TVD years haha. I had this idea floating around my head for awhile and decided to go for it.
Chapter 2: There's A Place
Camille opened her bright green eyes staring at the French Quarter styled ceiling as she smiled softly. She felt much better than yesterday's mayhem, she felt like her old self but she wasn't her old self. She was now a vampire and the taste of A Positive blood is her survival, she must be insane she thought. The young blonde turned to her side facing a tall glass of blood, she blinked and tried to control her thirst. She dreaded to live like this. She couldn't resist she grabbed the glass with a big gulp she slides off the bed and examined her full figure in the mirror "Not so dead" she joked under her breath. She grabbed the empty glass and strutted downstairs; smell of greasy Southern cooking filled her nostrils. She glided her way to the kitchen and notice Bonnie frying crispy bacon while Fleur was sitting on the counter eating star shaped pancakes. Klaus was on the back porch smoking Old English cigarettes and reading.
"You have a kid? Is she..." Camille paused staring at Bonnie.
"She's perfectly fine. Take seat" Bonnie said placing a full plate and glass of lemonade down. Camille smiled as the creole woman sat with her and started eating. She couldn't help but to think this wasn't so bad she was still being normal; eating, sleeping, smiling like her human self the only change was the environment and strange personalities. Then it hit her what she was going to do now that she is a vampire "So what's next?"
Bonnie swallowed her bacon "Well after breakfast I have a to mentor someone, Symone and braid her hair. You can stay and watch or you can hang with Klaus and Fleur, they are going to have a little picnic." Camille smiled and finished her lemonade "The fresh air could be good for me. I've never seen this side of the country" Bonnie slid a ring across the table and Camille frowned "You'll need it for the sunlight"
"Then tomorrow we'll go see William. He calls himself a King around here" Klaus said walking inside. "A King?" Camille laughed out loud.
"Well, he's an old friend, he built himself an empire here. I put a word in for you training" Klaus said making himself a cup of tea. Camille was puzzled "Training for what? I feel fine"
"To be a vampire is about your controls, how to fight someone if they attack you like a hunter or a crazy witch. It's not about walking around drinking blood" Bonnie said.
Hayley's ponytail bounced as she jogged on the side of the road, she was startled when a man started to jog next to her. She rolled her eyes and frown "What do you want, Eric?"
"I just wanted to keep your company on this lonely road. You always jog here alone" he said smirking. Hayley rolled her eyes and ran past him, he ran infront of her "You forgot I'm faster than you"
"I don't need company. I like my peace"
"Oh, come on! I don't bite. Only if you want me to. I was thinking we can maybe play some pools maybe have a drink maybe dinner with me tonight. It is Saturday" he said.
"I'll pass, bye" Hayley said pushing him out of the way and continuing her jog. Before he could approach her again, he felt something grip his legs tightly. He looked down and it was a vine squeezing his ankle. It pulled him into the forest area "Bitch!" he muttered.
Camille smiled as she watched Klaus and Fleur walked infront of her through the grasslands. The little girl held her father's hand tightly and talking way too much. She was adorable. She let go of his hand and ran up the hill "Stay close by!" Klaus yelled. Camille walked alongside him looking around and taking in the fresh air.
"So, your old friend William...sounds like you two aren't getting along" Camille said. Klaus smiled "It's complicated. These days we keep conversations minimal. A lot has changed for me. Will was once a leader in England and he is obsessed with perfection and keeping things functional. Only vampires are allowed in his sanctuary. I'm more than that now"
"He just put you out?" Camille asked frowning.
"In a nice way. It is for the best. I get to do my Art and sell it anonymously. I get to spend time with Bon and Fleur" Klaus said. Camille nodded "Do you at least get to hang with the wolves? I mean you do need friends"
Klaus laughed "The wolves stick to themselves. You barely see them around here. They are very good at being invisible. Keelin is the only ones that comes around. She's the life of the party"
"DAD! CAN I READ TO MINDY?" Fleur yelled stuffing her little hands into the bag Klaus was carrying. She yanked out the book and ran ahead of them.
"Who's Mindy?" Camille asked. Klaus smirked "You will see." They approach the grass surrounded pond; Camille eyes widen at the woman in the water. Mindy was listening attentive to Fleur reading her book. "What...the fuck" she muttered as they approached closer to the pond.
"Well hello Niklaus Mikaelson" Mindy said swimming closer to the pond's edge. She bit the bottom of her lip. Camille stared at her narrow golden eyes.
"It's a beautiful Saturday for a swim. You should come in" she flirted. Her blue-grey tail sway behind her. She smiled wickedly.
"Yeah, I'll pass and where's your enchanting sister?" Klaus asked.
"She met some guy online and went to meet him in Pitchins" Mindy rolled her eyes. Mindy stared at Camille intensely which made her uncomfortable.
"And who is your delicious friend?"
"Camille. She is new around here and not interested in you either." Camille smiled awkwardly. She still thought she was losing her mind.
Mindy laughed "eklektós.." she whispered staring at Camille. She frowned. Klaus pulled Camille and Fleur away as they bid their goodbyes.
"What the fuck was that?" Camille whispered to Klaus. He chuckled "Sirens. Beware of them they can get too friendly. You don't want to end up being their meals."
Hayley rubbed the towel through her dark brown strands of wet hair. She hummed at she strut into the kitchen to take her carrot cake out of the oven. She smiled as the placed the pan on the kitchen counter. She frowned when she saw a man roaming around her backyard looking at his phone "Fucking Madeline" she muttered. He walked through the garden looking at his phone then at the house. He thought he was officially lost. Suddenly his feet felt glue to the soil and sunk down a bit. He tried to move but he couldn't. Hayley held a bow and arrow to him "This is not the bachelorette! Whoever the hell you are. Leave or I'll blow you to pieces!" she yelled. He turned around and stared at her "What?"
"Aren't you alittle too old to be on a 16 year old social media? perv"
"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm looking for Klaus and Bonnie. Klaus is my brother. I think I might be lost ...and stuck" he laughed looking down. Hayley narrowed her eyes "I didn't know Klaus had a brother"
"I usually stay anonymous. I won't be here if it wasn't important"
She placed her weapon down and let his feet go from the soil "I'm sorry, I'm currently dealing with a brat. I'm Hayley. Bonnie is my best friend and you're about a mile off"
"Great. I'm Elijah. I should get out of your hair I would hate to see what the pumpkin vines could do"
Hayley laughed "I feel bad, how about an apology treat? I just baked a carrot cake. Would you like a slice? I promise its not going to kill you" She joked.
"Sure, I think I have time"
He followed her inside the cottage, she ranted about her obsession with flowers, craft and making everything from scratch. He looked around in silence. She went to the kitchen and made him a cup of tea and cut the slice of carrot cake "What's so important?"
"I'm actually from the council..."
"WOW! Really? You know most people think the vampire council is a myth" she said taking a bite of her slice.
"We try to stay anonymous but we see everything... which doesn't make sense. Someone stole an artifact from my family. Its a device that resurrect anyone. I'm particularly looking for a witch who might have stolen it and I was led to this town" Elijah said staring at Hayley. She laughed "Okay I don't mess with life nor death. My magic is purely natural. Bonnie won't mess that either. The last time she raised someone she brought a demon into a child. We have our limits"
He nodded and smiled after he taste her cake.
"I hope you're not here to accuse Bonnie because Klaus would hate that"
"Of course not. I need their help"
Later that afternoon Elijah and Hayley walked side by side in silence. They finally reached to Klaus and Bonnie house. She pressed the door bell. Bonnie came running down the stairs and swinging open the door "Elijah? What are you doing here? I haven't seen you like forever" she laughed puzzled.
"Yes since your wedding in London. A bit of a situation"
"And Hayley? You two were hanging out?" Bonnie smiled looking between them.
"Sort of ...it was a misunderstanding" Hayley said handing her the basket with vegetables from her garden.
"Hayley was hospitable. I can see why this town was voted the best" he said glancing over at her. Bonnie smiled and open the door wide as they walked in. She yelled for Klaus to come downstairs. He jogged down the stairs his face expression changed when he saw his brother "What are you doing here?"
"Someone in this town stole one of our mother's possessions" he blurted out. Klaus laughed "I thought you would've burn those"
Elijah stared at him "Someone stole the resurrection device...someone from this town"
"What? Why would anyone want that? That is suspicious"
"No one died recently no need for a resurrection device" Klaus said. Bonnie looked at the tension between them. Hayley smiled tightly she mouthed she was leaving to Bonnie who nodded. Bonnie smiled "Uh Caroline Forbes is an excellent detective she can look into and you're welcome to stay around. I know Fleur would love to hang with her uncle"
"He really doesn't have to" Klaus said. Bonnie elbowed him "Yes you can. I'll introduced you to Cami"
"Oh yes, the fresher. I was reading her file" he said as Bonnie led him into the kitchen. She fixed him and drink and yelled for Cami to come down. She introduced the two. Klaus was upstairs sulking while laying around watching the television. He could hear them downstairs laughing and talking over drinks and dinner. Bonnie decided to go upstairs and check on Fleur who was in her room playing with her plushies and dolls "Bed time, cutie"
"Okay, mommy" she said jumping into bed. Bonnie covered her with the blanket and sat beside her "Don't forget to ask Ezrulie for protection and sweet dreams" she kissed her nose and Fleur nodded. Bonnie turned off the light and went over to her room, Klaus laying back on the bed reading while a television show was running "You really didn't have to act like an asshole to your brother, it's not his fault"
"Half-brother" he muttered.
"That's a low fucking blow even for you" Bonnie said undressing and slipping into her short lace pyjamas. Klaus slammed his book shut and standing up "HE KNEW AND HE SAID NOTHING. I KILLED SOMEONE I HAVE TO LIVE WITH THAT EVERYDAY!"
"Klaus it was accident. No one is mad at you. Your mother's fault" Bonnie said walking slowly towards "I've been worried about you. You've been grumpy and avoiding to stay home for too long. I wish you would talk to me" she wrapped her arms around him and laying her head on his chest.
"I'm just angry all the time about it. I'm terrified that I might hurt you or Fleur" he whispered holding her.
Camille sat in the kitchen frozen while Elijah sat across from her making his next move on the chess board "You don't have to listen...you can turn it off" he said startling Camille from eavesdropping . She smiled.
"For a newbie you are quite...calm" he said. She laughed "More like shocked"
"How are you feeling?"
"I do feel empty inside. I don't miss New York nor anyone which is probably messed up" Camille rubbed her head.
"It's normal to feel a disconnect. Have you seen William yet?"
"Tomorrow"
Elena Gilbert yawned as she made her way down the Georgian curved staircase, she fold her arms and stood by the door way of William's office. He was busy typing and reading from an old dusty book "Don't tell me you hate me too?" he asked remembering Josh asking about Klaus coming back at dinner last night.
"No but everyone misses Klaus around here. He was foundation of this place. You just put him out and we all know you have a problem with the wolves" Elena said staring at him. He exhaled "I don't. I don't know what to do with a half breed"
"Wow! I get it you are jealous that he might be stronger than you, he gets along better with everyone than you, a better leader and you know you would've been voted out. Wow you couldn't wait to get rid of them" she said pointing at him angrily. He stood up "You are all free to socialise with Klaus outside the premises. It's for your own protection. Camille O Connell will be here. I'll be in the tea room waiting"
Camille sat up on her seat in Klaus's car and gasped at the image of the Gothic styled 1500's mansion "Wow!". Klaus laughed "It's pretty, isn't it?" Camille nodded "Are you coming?"
"No. You'll be fine" Klaus said watching getting out the car.
"Any tips?"
"Well, you'll meet Elena. She is sort of his secretary she is quite friendly. Then there's Aurora she can be a bitch to new people very territorial but she eventually warms up to you. Marcel is smart with maps and history. Gia, she likes adventure so she will probably drag you everywhere on this planet"
Camille smiled and nodded "You miss them?"
"Maybe" Klaus said smiling and driving off. Camille walked towards the door of the mansion. She pressed the fang shaped bell; a tall brunette woman answered the door "You must be Camille?" she asked. She nodded. She widened the door and Camille followed her inside slowly, she admired the interior of the building. It was like entering a fantasy world. Everything was spotless and antique, a true renaissance fantasy she smiled at the art. Elena snapped her fingers in Camille's face "I'm Elena. William will meet you in the tea room this way, dream girl"
She followed her to the west wing of the mansion to the small tea room with an airy opening overlooking the vast acres of land. He was sitting reading the newspaper with a table of tea and crumpets.
"Have fun" Elena said smiling leaving her at the entrance of the door. He peek above the newspaper as she stood awkwardly rubbing her hands "Um Hi" she said watching his pair of blue eyes stare at her. He finally closed his paper "Hi Camille please sit"
She pressed her lips staring at her cold hands "You have pretty cool place"
"You're quite different from what I expected. Calm. Psychiatrist right?" He asked. Camille nodded "I trained myself to be calm in hostile situations. I've seem alot crazy patients now I feel like I should be a patient"
He laughed "You're fine. Excellent control. Everything else we can work through as the days go along"
"what's that's building over there?" She asked pointing.
"Ahh its where some of our younger vampires stay...high school and college children" he explained. She swallowed at the thought of children needing blood to survive.
"You know there's an opening at the school. We wanted a guidance Councillor for the children...some of them lost their parents and other teenage stuff. It might be perfect for you" he said writing down the address and giving her. She smiled and frowned "Uh maybe"
"Also we do have your room prepared but something tells me you like the Mikaelson's better" he clasped his hands.
"Yeah Bonnie is great but I can visit for my training"
"Definitely or if Bonnie pisses you off and you need a place to stay. Its yours always"
Bonnie was busy fitting petunias and lavenders into the soil while humming. Symone was standing by the back door with the books she borrowed from Bonnie in her hand. Symone is a 16-year-old Salem witch who had been questioning her place in the faith. She was an orphan and wasn't a part of the coven anymore. Recently she had been doing research after finding out her mother and grandmother's history before they came to America "Hey! I brought your books back" she yelled.
"Oh, hey put it on the counter, grab a pair of gloves and come over here!" Bonnie yelled. After the teen placed the book down, she ran over to the garden "Nice flowers"
"Yeah. Hayley inspired me to get back into gardening" Bonnie said smiling with her hands on her hips.
"If I needed protection which spirit, should I conjure up?" Symone asked. Bonnie looked at her puzzled "Are you in trouble?"
"NO! I'm fine but just in case"
Bonnie smiled "You can't conjure anything at this point you aren't apart of the faith. There's a whole ceremony thing at a specific time and place blah and blah"
"I'LL DO IT NOW!" She said frantically.
"Whoa okay I know you think this is how you'll feel closer to your ancestors but you don't have to do this. It's a lot responsibility and seeing things you don't want to. You'll be fine Symone. You already know basic magic" Bonnie smiled. She nodded.
"Go have fun with friends. Date boys. I bet there's a boy you like" Bonnie teased. She blushed "Maybe. Well, he's my best friend. His name is Ash. A vampire and he's in my history class"
Bonnie smiled.
At midnight the rain was pouring and the thunder was roaring. Camille was tossing and turning in bed. She kept having dreams if a woman with golden blonde hair rocking a baby in a room. She opened her eyes and rubbed her hands up her face. She gasped when she saw a pair of red eyes gleaming and staring at her from the corner. She immediately switched on the lamp on the bed stand but there was no one there.
