Slight AU. To punish Batman Ra's al Ghul has the man's Beta lover, John Blake, kidnapped and handed over to Bane to be his Pet. There's 3 problems with that. Bane enforces every one of Talia's commands with zero hesitation, fatal efficiency and complete loyalty; he doesn't give a second thought to who suffers for Talia's legacy and everlasting greatness.

What would've happened if Joker had dropped a stranger out the window instead of Rachel Dawes? Would he have drawn the same conclusion that he did in the film? Or would he have had a backup plan to push Harvey Dent over the edge? Either way, single mother Cynthia Banks is going to find out when a man wants to watch the world burn.
