The Battle Trial was the first real test where all of class 1-A could really get a feel for everyone's quirk. Compared to hers, some of Fey's classmates had a really amazing and powerful quirk. Todoroki was especially impressive during his trial. He pretty much completed the task all on his own. And she couldn't forget about Bakugou's quirk, though she had witnessed it firsthand when she had gone up against him in the physical tests.

Iida also had amazing control over his quirk. His drive was very apparent in his mastery of it. Of course, like Fey, he probably had areas where he could improve. If not, they wouldn't be in school right now. Then again, there was the whole licensing situation. Without a license, they wouldn't be able to use their quirks to save people, or do much of anything really. In that sense, Iida and Fey's visions aligned almost perfectly. They both aspired to be worthy of their predecessors, but in Fey's case, she aspired to be like someone who couldn't see her progress anymore...

After the trials were done, All-Might gave another speech congratulating everyone on their performances. Fey glanced over at Tenya, who had removed his helmet. He combed through his short dark hair with his fingers trying to get rid of the helmet hair he had developed during their trial. Fey snickered quietly, but not quietly enough so that he couldn't hear, as she quickly found out by how fast he turned his gaze towards her. She started to blush slightly, trying to cover up her embarrassment with another laugh. She gave him a thumbs up from afar, silently congratulating him as well. Iida responded by inclining slightly forward, then shifted his attention back on All-Might.

Midoriya hadn't been present for All-Might's speech though, having been sent to the infirmary again after he had finished his fight with Bakugou. He had suffered pretty major injuries to both of his arms. Fey figured she would wait for him outside of school once they were done for the day. When the time came, Fey stood in the courtyard browsing her phone. She scrolled absentmindedly, checking whatever news were playing at the moment. She ended up seeing most of her classmates leave until there was only a few students left at U.A. Eventually, Bakugou showed up outside. He seemed deep in thought ever since he had lost the trial. Fey wasn't interested in talking to him though, so she gazed back at her phone. A few seconds later, Midoriya stormed out after him, shouting something about him acquiring his quirk from someone else? Fey was puzzled but tried to seem busy. They clearly hadn't noticed her in the corner. Katsuki shouted back that he was "just getting started" and that he would "not lose again", then stormed off into the sunset. Haaa... boys.

"Oh Fey! You're still here," said a familiar voice coming from the school's entrance.

It was Iida exiting the building with Ochako. Him calling for her attracted Izuku's attention to her and he realized that she probably had heard his entire conversation with Katsuki. He looked at her, shocked, before Fey turned away to walk towards Iida.

"Yeah I was actually waiting on Midoriya," she said to him, looking back at the young man.

"Ah so you're here for the same reason then," Iida replied calmly.

"Oh guys... Y-You didn't have to wait on me you know," Deku said in an embarrassed tone.

"Come on Deku!" Ochako smiled. "We weren't going to leave without seeing how our friend was doing. Plus now we all get to walk home together! Isn't that right Fey?"

"Of course!"

The four of them started their way down the courtyard. Ochako enthusiastically gushed about the trial and all the cool moves she saw everyone do. She was especially impressed with how evasive Fey was when she was pinned down by Iida.

"Oh yeah absolutely," Fey agreed. "I'm sure Iida agrees too."

She looked back at him with a shit-eating grin on her face. She snickered slightly as Iida let out a frustrated growl.

"While I have to admit your techniques were... effective," he admitted. "I would have preferred not to have been the intended target."

"Awww poor Iida," Fey mocked. "I'll try to drop you a bit more softly next time, all right?"

This made Midoriya and Uraraka laugh, while Tenya's cheeks began to turn red. He turned his gaze away, too embarrassed to look at the three of them. They eventually left the school grounds to walk over to the bus station, where Fey needed to wait for her bus to arrive. Since it was later than usual, the buses would come a bit more spaced out from each other and she would have to wait a bit longer. Fortunately, she was in good company for once, and the three others had agreed to stay with her until her bus arrived.

"Say, Fey?" Midoriya inquired. "I was wondering... why is it that your family decided to move to Japan of all places?"

Fey's smile vanished from her face. She knew this question would come up eventually, especially since she was getting a bit closer to her newfound friends. She sighed softly, her eyes lowering to the ground.

"It's... not a happy story I'll tell you right now," she declared. This made the other three look at her with surprise. Midoriya's eyes were full of regret now.

"Oh I-I'm sorry," he apologized. "I didn't mean to poke at a sensitive topic."

"No it's fine... I appreciate you guys enough to tell you," She paused, taking a long breath. "See, my father was a local hero back in the Philippines. He initially studied here though, at U. A. with a friend. They both fought side by side once they became pros. But..."

Recalling her last memories of her dad was harder than she'd expected. Her hands nervously picked at the feathers around her wrists. It was something she did absentmindedly when she was stressed or uncomfortable, like someone who bites their nails or lip when they're nervous.

"He died a little over a year ago... There was a huge tidal wave attacking the coastline and like the true hero he was, he didn't hesitate to jump in to save people... He didn't make it out alive though, and his partner couldn't save him..."

Fey could feel the tears welling up in her eyes but she refused to cry in front of them. She merely wiped them away and exhaled loudly.

"Oh god I'm... I'm so sorry Fey," Izuku apologized deeply.

Iida remained silent but seemed deeply sorry for her. He tried to imagine if he ever lost one of his family members, if that happened to his older brother, he would probably never live it down...

"And you came to Japan to study at the same school as your dad?" Ochako asked, feeling really sorry for her.

"That's... part of the reason..."

Fey thought about telling the whole truth, the truth about her mother's health, about her younger brothers and about her nightly activities. But she bit her tongue and didn't say anything more. Besides, her bus had appeared at the end of the road and was slowly approaching the stop. She turned towards her friends and tried to smile reassuringly.

"I got the chance to enter U. A. because my father's sidekick believed I could be as great of a hero as my dad, maybe even a better hero than him. I'm not sure about the last part, but I am determined to, at the very least, live up to his legacy," she said to them calmly.

The bus pulled up to the bus stop after a few short moments. Before embarking, Fey spun around to look at the three one last time before leaving.

"I will make a name for myself, so that wherever my dad's watching from, he can see me... and be proud of his daughter."

She waved goodbye to her friends with tears in her eyes, then disappeared into the bus, leaving them until next they would meet.
