The three boys awoke in a shared room. Their injuries had been tended to by the hospital staff the night before. Fey had been sent to another room for her treatment. She hadn't awoken since she had passed out in the streets of Hosu. Her body had gone into a state of torpor when she had fallen unconscious in his arms. Tenya worried for her, even though the hospital staff had reassured him that she needed only to rest. There was so much that he needed to say to her…

The three of them sat in their respective beds thinking about what had transpired the night prior. They had accomplished something truly miraculous. They could barely wrap their heads around the fact that they had collectively taken down the Hero Killer, Stain.

"Thinking about it," Midoriya said. "It seems pretty miraculous that we're all alive right now. With my leg messed up, I was an easy target. He probably could have killed me if he really wanted to."

"Yeah," Todoroki agreed. "It seems he let us both live on purpose… I'm most impressed by you though, Iida." He turned towards him. "He was actually trying to murder you, but you stood tall."

"That's not true," Iida replied. "I was…"

He was interrupted by the door of their room sliding open. Two figures appeared: Gran Torino and Manual.

"Oh, so the injured youngins are finally awake," the old man said as he entered the room.

"Gran Torino!" Izuku said, surprised.

"And Manual too," Iida added.

Gran Torino turned his attention over to Midoriya.

"Idiot!" he scolded. "I could yell at you for hours right now!"

"Y-Yeah… I'm sorr-" Midoriya had begun to speak.

"But before I do… You've got a visitor."

A large man wearing a suit with a dog's head instead of a human one came into the room. He barely fit through the door with how tall he was and he looked at the three young men with a serious look on his face.

"This is Hosu's chief of police, Kenji Tsuragamae," Gran Torino introduced.

Tenya and Shoto got up from their beds as he entered. Izuku tried doing the same, even though his leg was all bandaged up.

"No please, stay seated, wouf…" the chief policeman said. He looked them up and down for a moment. "So you're the U.A. students who took down the Hero Killer, huh?"

"We are…" Todoroki answered.

There was a pause. "...Stain has suffered significant injuries," Tsuragamae finally declared. "Severe burns and several broken bones. Right now, he is in the hospital under strict guard, wouf…"

He looked them each in the eyes.

"Here's a lesson you all should have already learned: When quirks became the norm, the police force sought to maintain the status quo… It was decided that we wouldn't use quirks as weapons. That's when heros came in… They could do what we could not, but only if they were licensed, of course… wouf…" He paused. "It would be impossible for the police to condone the use of deadly quirks. After all, we're here to stop such harm from being done. The only reason pros can use their powers now is because of the strict code of ethics that the early heroes abided by…"

Tenya had a feeling of where this was all going…

"That's why it's against the law for uncertified people to use their quirk to cause injury."

The three of them froze. They hadn't thought about that when they had gone up against Stain. They had only thought about saving the two people in need at that time, nothing else. Now that they were faced with the reality of their actions, they dreaded what would come next.

"Whether you were up against the Hero Killer or not," Tsuragamae continued. "None of you had the authority to harm the villain… That means all four of you," That included Fey. "And your supervisors, Endeavor, Manual, Hawks and Gran Torino, should receive punishment for the gross misuse of your powers."

"Now wait just a minute," Shoto interjected angrily. "If Iida hadn't stepped in, Native would have been murdered!"

"Todoroki…" Tenya whispered.

"And if not for Midoriya and Fey, both of them would have been dead." Shoto paused. "No one else even realized that the Hero Killer was in Hosu. Are you saying we should have just stood by and watched people die?!"

"Todoroki, calm down!" Izuku said in a shaky voice.

"So it's okay to break the law as long as it goes your way?" the policeman answered.

"But sir! Isn't it a hero's job to save people?!" Todoroki shouted back.

"See, this is why you're not a full fledged hero yet," Tsuragamae replied. "It's obvious U.A. and Endeavor haven't been teaching you near enough… What a shame."

"You damn mutt!"

Todoroki started walking towards the chief of police. Midoriya and Iida went to stop him.

"Todoroki listen!" Tenya shouted. "He's right!"

"It's alright, Shoto…" said a soft voice coming from the hallway. "Let him finish what he was about to say…"

It was Fey coming up from her room to join them. She was shuffling slowly behind Tsuragamae and the supervisors. She was leaning against her IV pole, using it to move around the hospital. She had forgotten to put on her hospital slippers and was walking barefoot.

"Honestly, I don't get why they didn't put me in the same room as you guys…" she said as she dragged her feet towards the available bed.

"Fey!" Tenya cried out as he saw her. "You're awake!"

Fey gave him a weak smile. She was still clearly recovering from her coma as the two IV bags hanging from her intravenous pole could attest to. Her eyes were quite sunken in as well and her right forearm had been set in a cast. The chief of police finally cleared his throat.

"What I've said is the official stance at the police department," he declared. "But any punishment would only be necessary if any of this went public. If it did, you'd probably be applauded by citizens everywhere, but there's no way you could escape from being reprimanded. On the other hand…" He paused. "Ee could say Endeavor saved the day. Stain's burns would support this story completely and we could pretend you weren't involved, wouf… Thankfully, there were very few witnesses. This could be the last you heard of any punishments. It would also mean that nobody would know about you, though. You'd receive no acclaim at all. The choice is yours…"

While it was true that they had accomplished something great, receiving such strict punishments this early in their careers could be extremely detrimental to them. Plus, they didn't have just themselves to think about. Their supervisors would also be reprimanded for their actions.

"Personally, I know where I stand," Tsuragamae continued. "I don't want to damage any promising young careers, not for a mistake like this."

"Either way," Manual interjected. "We'll have to take responsibility for being negligent as supervisors."

Tenya looked at him with regret in his eyes. He guiltily approached him and bowed his head in front of him.

"I'm sorry, I should've listened," he apologized deeply.

Manual karate chopped him on the head softly.

"Yeah! You've caused us a lot of trouble!" he reprimanded him. "Remember that and don't do it again!"

"I'm sorry as well," Midoriya said as he also bowed his head.

"Me too," Shoto imitated his two friends. "We'll leave it to you…"

Fey simply nodded at the police chief. He had already debriefed her in her own room beforehand.

"I know it's not fair," Tsuragamae replied. "You won't enjoy any of the fame and praise you probably would have received otherwise, but at least…" He bowed down in front of them. "Allow me, as the chief of police, to thank you."

Shoto looked away, disgruntled.

"You know, you could've started with that…"

Midoriya laughed slightly. Meanwhile, Tenya smiled to himself, relieved by how things had turned out in the end. They were then left alone in their room and Iida could finally turn his attention towards Fey. He sat down at the edge of the bed where she had set herself down, taking her hand into his own.

"Fey I… I was so worried," he said to her. "I thought for a moment that you… you…"

Fey let out a soft chuckle. "I know… I'm sorry I gave you guys a scare."

She gently caressed his cheek with her free hand. She then noticed Todoroki and Midoriya trying not to look at them and give them a bit of privacy, so she pulled away shyly as she remembered that they weren't alone.

"Ahem… Anyways, I'm glad to see you all doing well, relatively speaking."

"We're glad you're okay too, Fey!" Izuku cheered happily.

"You've looked better, though," Shoto replied.

"I bet… I feel like I've been run over seventy times by the bullet train."

They all started to laugh together.

"But I'll be fine," she finally said. "They're gonna keep me at the hospital for a few more days, just to make sure my body doesn't crash again."

"I'll probably be staying a bit longer as well," Midoriya said.

"Then maybe I'll have them transfer me to your room. There's a spare bed after all."

They both smiled at each other. Later, Fey messaged everyone and reassured them that everything was alright. Uraraka wanted to call her, so she had Shoto wheel her out of the room to take her call. The two girls talked for a moment, then Fey looked at Shoto over her shoulder.

"I wanted to thank you, Shoto," she said to him with a smile. "We were essentially strangers up until now, but you still showed up to help."

"I was in the area at the time…" he answered. "Plus, I knew something had to be wrong for you to send such a cryptic message."

"Still, it means a lot to me. Thank you…"

He seemed a bit embarrassed by her gratitude, but didn't let it show. Fey could tell, though, because she had a knack for reading people's true feelings. She didn't say anything to him about it and let him wheel her back to their room. Once they arrived, they could see that Midoriya and Iida had very grave expressions on their faces.

"What's wrong?" Fey asked in a concerned voice.

"I-Iida… just got his test results back," Midoriya explained.

Fey turned towards Tenya, getting up from her wheelchair to go see him. Shoto was going to follow her to make sure she didn't fall, but ultimately decided against it. Fey brought her IV pole with her as she sat down next to Iida on the edge of his bed. She stared at him, waiting with baited breath for what he was going to say.

"My left hand…" he began speaking. "...might be permanently damaged."

Fey's eyes widened with shock. Her eyes followed Tenya's arm towards his left hand. She remembered how he had been pinned down on the ground by Stain's daggers on that arm, and how his left shoulder had been brutally slashed open.

"How?" she asked incredulously.

"Both my arms were pretty torn up," Tenya started explaining. "But the injury to my left arm was particularly severe." He paused. "The damage was to my brachial plexus, which just means I'll have trouble moving my fingers and my hand might have some numbness."

He tried to play it off as something that wasn't going to be too distracting. Fey traced her fingertips down Tenya's arm delicately, before entwining her fingers with his. Tenya looked at their hands for a moment, then continued.

"Apparently, there's a chance that it could be healed thanks to nerve transplant surgery."

Fey smiled, relieved to hear that his hand might have a chance after all. Her expression changed though, when she saw him lower his head again.

"When I came across the Hero Killer," he said. "I stopped thinking rationally. The first thing I should have done was call Manual… but I got lost in my own anger."

He paused, his shoulders tensing up as he recalled what the Hero Killer had said to him.

"I hate him so much…" he continued. "But I can't deny he spoke the truth. That's why…" He looked at his hands. "Until I'm able to call myself a real hero, I'll leave my left hand as it is."

Fey was shocked by his words. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. He was going to sacrifice his own body in order to punish himself for what he had done? She wanted to protest, to tell him not to do it and that it could make his hand worse, but the look in his eyes told her that he had already made his decision, so she kept quiet, lowering her head in defeat.

"Iida," Midoriya said as he walked over to him. "I feel the same way." He clenched his right fist and held it towards Iida. "Let's get stronger together."

They both had a look of determination in their eyes as Tenya nodded. Fey looked at the pair for a moment, then nodded herself. Meanwhile, Todoroki stared at them with a concerned look on his face, before lowering his head.

"I feel… kind of bad," he said after a few moments of silence.

"Huh?" Midoriya questioned. "About what?"

"Whenever I'm involved… someone's hand gets messed up. Is something wrong with me?"

He started sweating, looking at his hands in confusion. Fey blinked incredulously, while the other merely stared.

"Am I cursed? I'm like some kind of 'Hand Crusher' or something…"

Then the three others burst into laughter. It felt good to laugh so hard after everything had happened. Once she calmed down, Fey said to him:

"Technically my hand is fine, Todoroki. Maybe you aren't cursed afterall?"

"Yeah but your arm got hurt," he replied.

"It's nothing permanent though! Please Shoto, you're fine, I swear!"

He didn't seem very convinced and Tenya and Midoriya just kept laughing.

During the rest of the day, Fey had been spending a lot of time sleeping in her bed, which had been moved to the boys' room after she had requested a transfer. They were initially a bit apprehensive about having a girl share a room with them, but since she had been mostly sleeping, it was like she wasn't even there. Plus, Fey had grown comfortable around them, which in turn helped them get over their embarrassment.

Once she awoke again, night had fallen and Iida had disappeared from their room. Todoroki and Midoriya noticed her stirr from her sleep and went over to her.

"Feeling better, Fey?" Izuku asked.

"Where's Tenya?" she asked back, completely ignoring his question.

"He was discharged while you were resting," Shoto answered. "He said to give you this once you were awake."

He handled her a piece of folded paper, then the two of them left her to read it. Fey could tell this had been written by Tenya by the way he had perfectly folded the paper into four perfect squares. She smiled slightly, opening the piece of paper to find a note inside.

My dearest Fey,

I would like to start off by apologizing for not being able to stay by your side while you recover. I've been called back to my family and my mother was insistent about me returning home as soon as possible. While it is true that I am glad to be back home, it pains me to have to leave you, especially since there is so much I wish to speak to you about… But I will remain strong, and wait for your full recovery before we can speak again. In the meantime, know that I will be looking up at the night sky tonight, hoping to see your beauty shine upon me, my Star…

Yours truly, Tenya.

Fey smiled as she held the letter against her chest, inhaling deeply. Her initial disappointment at him leaving had been completely washed away by his letter. She could hardly wait for the moment where she would be released from the hospital, but for now, she would be watching the night sky from her window, hoping that Tenya was watching with her at the same time.
