After the League of Villains had attacked the students of class 1-A, they had been forbidden to travel during summer vacation, both for their own safety, but also in preparation of the training camp they would all have to attend. The training camp was still well over a week away, though, so the girls of class 1-A had petitioned the university to let them use the pool during summer vacation. This piqued the interest of some of the boys from their class, who secretly plotted against the girls from their class…
Mineta and Kaminari had devised a plan to get them into the pool while the girls would be there in their bathing suits. They had invited Midoriya to come along with them, so as not to rouse their suspicions. They didn't want the girls to figure their true intentions with them petitioning the school for "endurance training". What they hadn't counted on, though, was Izuku texting the whole class about the "endurance training" and inviting them to join.
Once both boys arrived at the pool, they were met with a grim vision. Not only were all the boys from their class all there, but the girls were wearing their school bathing suits instead of the bikinis they had hoped to see. Not only that, but they were greeted by their class representative in his swimming cap and goggles. Something they definitely hadn't hoped to see.
"There you are slowpokes!" Iida said as they entered the pool area.
On the other side of the pool, the girls were doing some stretches before going into the pool. They were also waiting on the only girl that hadn't shown up yet, and that was Fey.
"Any idea where Fey went?" Jirou asked as they were finishing warming up.
"She's probably still changing into her bathing suit," Ochaco replied. "It can't be easy getting dressed with a quirk like hers…"
"Tell me about it…"
Fey suddenly appeared from the changing rooms. She had managed to fit into her school bathing suit and was carrying a beach ball under her arm. She had also brought a pair of red heart-shaped sunglasses to keep the sun out of her eyes.
"Wow Fey you look amazing!" Mina exclaimed cheerfully.
"You know I'm wearing the same thing as you guys, right?" Fey chuckled as she approached them.
"Yeah but you somehow make it work! Also, I had no idea your hair got so long!"
"It grows really fast. Not sure if it has something to do with my quirk or…"
Her attention was suddenly snatched up by the sight of Tenya in the distance. Although she had already seen him completely undressed before, seeing him in a bathing suit all of a sudden made her incredibly embarrassed for some reason. He didn't just look good… He was absolutely smoking hot, even with his ridiculous swimming cap on.
"Kaminari, Mineta, nice work!" Tenya called to the both of them as he approached. "I'm proud of you for suggesting more training! You are an asset to this class!... Let me thank you."
His stance was oddly menacing with his arms stretched out to the side. He then bent down and picked up the two boys, carrying them towards the boys' side of the pool. Fey witnessed the whole thing, thinking to herself how lucky those two were for being carried around but such a hunk of a man.
"Uumm… Earth to Feyyy?" Toru waved a hand in front of her face. This, unsurprisingly, did nothing to attract her attention. "Are you still with us, Fey?"
"She's too busy drooling over our class rep' right now…" Mina snickered as she snatched the ball from her grasp. This immediately snapped her out of her daydreaming.
"W-Wha…? I was just…" Fey stammered as her cheeks turned bright red.
"Come on! Let's play ball!" Toru exclaimed excitedly.
The girls all went into the pool and started playing with the beach ball she had brought with her. Fey glanced one last time towards the boys' side, before entering the water with them to start playing.
While they played ball on one side of the pool, the boys were doing laps in the pool for their endurance training. As much as Fey wanted to hang out with the girls, she couldn't help but be drawn towards what the guys were doing. Being naturally competitive, she wanted to join them in their training, but was too shy to ask. Plus, she didn't want to leave her friends after promising them she would hang out with them. But whenever it was her turn to serve, the other girls would always catch her glancing towards Tenya, which made them snicker every time.
After they had played a few sets, Fey noticed that the boys were taking a 15 minute break from their training. This was her chance, she thought. She called for a break as well and stepped out of the pool, shaking the water from her feathers and her wings before making her way towards the boys' side. Tenya had pulled out a cooler and was distributing drinks to his fellow classmates. Fey approached shyly from behind, timidly waving at the other boys who had spotted her.
"Any left for me?" she said, prompting Tenya to turn towards her.
"My Star!" Tenya greeted her happily. "Of course! Here you go."
He handed her a can of orange juice, which Fey happily took from him before cracking it open. Even though she had used their break as an excuse to come and see him, she was still pretty thirsty from all the jumping around she had been previously doing during her game of volleyball with the girls. She started gulping down the juice before breathing a satisfied sigh.
"That really hit the spot," Fey said. "Thanks babe."
She caught him staring at her and looked at him with curious eyes.
"Is something wrong?" she asked him inquisitively.
"No," he calmly replied. "This is just funny, that's all."
"What do you mean?"
Tenya sat down on one of the starting blocks on the side of the pool.
"I hadn't imagined us ever meeting again after our first meeting," he confessed. "And yet here we are…"
He smiled at her as he reached out to grab her hand. He pulled her towards him, still smiling, before wrapping his arm around her waist.
"I never would have imagined ever finding someone as beautiful and as talented as you are," he continued. "Let alone date anyone who fit that description. I was just thinking of how lucky I was to have met such an amazing person as you, my Star…"
Fey started to blush slightly, smiling at him tenderly. She ran her free hand on the side of his face, caressing his cheek gently.
"We're both lucky to have each other, Tenya…" she replied, bending over for a kiss, but before their lips could come anywhere near each other, a loud voice interrupted their tender moment.
"DEKUUU!"
Fey immediately recognized Bakugou's voice coming from the entrance. She growled annoyingly, rolling her eyes at his sudden rude appearance.
"Hey guys! I got your message!" Kirishima said as he suddenly appeared. "Sorry I'm late! Took a while to convince Bakugou to come out."
"You wanna settle who's the best between us right now, nerd?!" Bakugou continued screaming, completely ignoring what Eijirou had previously said.
"Umm… no, that's not it!" Izuku answered in a shaky voice.
"Hmm, actually…" Tenya said as he got up from the starting block he had been sitting on. "We could make this training a contest."
As soon as he mentioned the word "contest", Fey could immediately feel herself coming super pumped up, even though he probably meant that only the boys would be participating in the competition.
"Hey everyone!" Iida called out to the class. "I propose we see which of the boys can swim 50 meters the fastest! A friendly race, if you will."
"Hell yeah! That sounds fun!" Denki exclaimed as he jumped to his feet.
"Let's do it!" Sato replied.
"Iida!" Yaoyorozu called out as the rest of the girls joined them. "Why don't you let us help you out with this?"
"Of course!" Tenya answered in an excited tone.
"And quirks? Are we allowed to use them?" Ojiro asked, raising his hand.
"We're at school, so there shouldn't be a problem with that. However…" He turned his attention towards Bakugou, who was already smiling from ear to ear after hearing that quirks were allowed. "You cannot cause damage to your classmates or the building."
"You got that, Katsuki?" Fey said with emphasis on his first name.
"Yeah yeah don't get your panties in a twist, Pixie," he growled as he shot her a look. He then stepped up in front of Midoriya. "I'm gonna annihilate you, Deku!" He turned towards Todoroki, sitting at the base of a wall. "And you too, Icy-Hot! You bastard!"
The two of them didn't respond to his provocation and the boys started taking their places at the starting blocks. Fey was a bit peeved by the fact that none of the girls had agreed to join the competition or that they hadn't suggested their own contest. She didn't want to intrude on the boys' fun, but at the same time, she was itching for a bit more action. Since she didn't want to just stand around and do nothing, she volunteered to be the eyes of the class, flying up above the pool to call out the winners of each race. Since she would have a bird's eye view of the swimmers, she would have a better view of the race. The rest of the class figured that since she was going to be calling out the winners, that she might as well blow the whistle to begin each race as well. Once she was handed the whistle, she flew up to get this contest started.
"Alright, first group, take your places!"
The first set of swimmers consisted of Bakugou, Denki, Tokoyami, Mineta and Kota. Once they were all in position, Fey lifted her arm up towards the sky.
"On your marks, get set…" And then she blew her whistle.
As expected, Bakugou started blasting his way to the other side of the pool, almost running into Fey. Fortunately, her reflexes had grown a lot faster since the beginning of the year and she evaded him pretty easily. Once he had crossed over to the other side of the pool, she blew her whistle again and shot daggers at him with her eyes.
"What do you think you're doing?!" she yelled angrily. "You're supposed to go in the water, dumbass!"
"Shut up, you damn Pixie!" Bakugou shot back at her. "It's called freestyle swimming for a reason!"
Fey sighed deeply. Not wanting to deal with him any further, she called out the winner and motioned for the second group to step up to the starting blocks. This time, it would be Todoroki going up against Sero, Aoyama, Rikido and Kirishima. Fey gave them the signal to begin and, again, unsurprisingly, most of them didn't even touch the water once the race had started. Fey had initially thought Sero would win the race, but he got knocked out by Yuga mid-way, which meant that Shoto could breeze through the race thanks to his ice. Fey sighed once again, shaking her head as she landed down on the ground.
"Do you guys not know what 'swimming' is?" she said exasperatingly. "Todoroki is the winner… NEXT!"
She watched as Tenya took place on one of the starting blocks. He was going to have tough competition since Midoriya was also competing against him. This gave Fey an idea… As the rest were taking their places at the starting line, Fey crouched down next to Tenya and whispered something into his ear. She then fluttered up into the air, leaving a very flustered Tenya at the starting blocks, as his face turned a bright shade of crimson after she had left him.
"Alright, last group!" Fey called out. "On your marks… get set…!"
As soon as she blew into her whistle, Tenya immediately activated his quirks and flew straight across the pool. His feet barely made contact with the pool's surface, but his velocity sent water flying everywhere. He arrived at the end of the pool just as the others were diving into the water.
"Iida is the winner!" Fey called after blowing her whistle.
Everyone stared slack jawed at how fast Tenya had been. Those who had noticed Fey speaking to him prior to the race wondered what she could have possibly told him to push him so hard to win the race.
Fey fluttered down next to Tenya, smiling innocently at him. She leaned up to plant a small kiss on his cheek as he stood motionless next to the pool. Even he was shocked by how fast he had moved.
"Good job, babe," she congratulated him, before walking away as if nothing had happened.
Once the winners of each group had been determined, a final race was organized to determine who among the boys would be the ultimate winner. As all three of them stood in front of her, Fey announced the terms for the last race.
"Alright, Bakugou, Todoroki, Iida, since you guys won in your respective groups, you'll all be racing each other to see who's the fastest among you, but there's a catch…" She looked at them with a crooked smile. "This time, you'll have to race without the use of your quirks…"
"What?!" Bakugou protested loudly. "But Four-Eyes said that we could use our quirks!"
"Yes but clearly, you guys don't seem to understand what 'swimming' is supposed to mean…" Fey sighed disapprovingly. "But honestly, I shouldn't be surprised that you'd want to use your quirk, Katsuki, seeing as you couldn't win without it…"
The whole class fell silent as Bakugou started to twitch angrily.
"What… DID YOU SAY?!"
Fey arched her blow amusingly, crossing her arms over her chest with a challenging look in her eyes. Tenya seemed really surprised by her gratuitous provocation, the same as the rest of their class.
"You heard me," Fey snickered. "If this was a quirkless competition, you'd probably fail miserably."
"Oh and I supposed YOU would do any better, eh Pixie?!" Bakugou shot back, getting right up in her face as he did. "If you're so sure I would lose, why don't YOU face me then?!"
Her expression became a lot more serious all of a sudden. "You're on, shitface. Just don't start crying when I beat you…"
She handed the whistle to Yaoyorozu and walked up to the starting blocks. No one really had the courage to stop them, including Tenya who, despite his worries about Fey's success, knew how much it meant for her to win against Bakugou. This was her chance to get her revenge on him for the Sports Festival.
The two of them got into position, staring intensely at the pool laid out in front of them. Now that she was ready to go, Fey was starting to regret her decision. She was mostly fast when it came to flying, but in the water, without the use of her quirk, her wings would create significant drag and render her a lot less aerodynamic. But she couldn't back out now, especially not against him. She would just have to do her best to win on her own merits, without the use of her quirk.
"A-Alright you guys…" Momo said in an unsure tone. "On your marks… get set…"
And as she was about to blow her whistle, they heard a familiar voice coming from the entrance.
"It's 5pm… Your authorized pool time is officially over. Hurry up and go home."
Expecting the whistle to blow, Bakugou and Fey fell into the water at the same time as Aizawa showed up. They both came up to the surface, staring daggers at each other as their teacher announced the end of their competition.
"This isn't over, Pixie," Bakugou growled.
He hoisted himself out of the pool while Fey used her wings to lift herself out. She then shook off the excess water from her wings, splashing Tenya as he approached her.
"You shouldn't be provoking him like that," he scolded her.
"Tch… and why not? He does it to everyone else…" Fey said as she wrung the water from her hair.
"Because he has a dangerous temper," Tenya reminded her with a stern look. "Don't you remember what happened during the Sports Festival?"
"Yes! And that's exactly why I'm provoking him!"
Fey walked over to where they had left the beach ball she had brought with her, recovering her sunglasses at the same time and placing them on top of her head. Tenya followed her.
"He bullies everyone in class…" Fey continued. "Especially Midoriya… and no one has the guts to stand up to him except for maybe Kirishima and me. That's why I don't hesitate to call him out on his behavior. Someone's got to hold him accountable for all the shit he does…"
She turned back towards Tenya with a serious expression on her face.
"This isn't just about that," he said to her. "Since he defeated you in the Sports Festival, you've been going out of your way to try and beat him…"
"And what if I am?!" Fey shouted at him. "You're always striving to be the best there is, Tenya! How is this any different from you?"
"Because I'm not going around provoking people without cause!" He furrowed his brow. "What you're doing is reckless, dangerous even! You know how he can get when he's angry, Fey! I'm worried you're going to get yourself hurt over some petty grudge!"
She stepped down as he said those words and calmed herself down. He was right, she had been holding a grudge against Bakugou since the Sports Festival. She couldn't help but feel angry whenever he excelled at anything. Despite his abhorrent behavior, everything always seemed to go his way no matter what and that pissed her off so much. Whenever she would see him disrespect anyone from her class, she couldn't help but step in and show him that she wasn't afraid of him, that he couldn't just bully anyone without facing any consequences.
"You're right," she finally admitted with a sigh. "I am being reckless… It's just that he makes me so mad. I can't stand him sometimes… The way he talks to everyone, the way he thinks he's above everyone… and then him actually succeeding better than everyone else in class. It just pisses me off!"
She threw the ball against the wall angrily, breathing heavily through the nose. She then slipped into Tenya's arms, burying her face into his chest.
"I'm sorry," she whispered apologetically.
"I understand how you are feeling," he answered as he stroked her hair gently. "But you can't keep holding on to this grudge that you have against him. It may seem like he's excelling at everything, but he's bound to struggle just the same as us sometimes. You need to focus on your progress and how you're going to improve yourself, rather than try and become better than someone else… Become a better you, rather than a better Bakugou."
She squeezed him tightly in her arms, nodding affirmatively to what he was saying.
"Thanks, babe… I needed to hear that."
She lifted her head up towards him, wiping away the small tears that had formed in the corners of her eyes.
"We should get changed," she declared. "After that, we can go back to your place so that I can properly reward you for winning the race…"
Her previously sad gaze now shifted to a flirty one. Tenya felt his face turn red once again as he looked away slightly.
"I had almost forgotten about that…" he admitted bashfully.
"Who knew I could motivate you so much," Fey snickered. "Now, hurry up, or I'll be leaving here without you."
Once she said that, Tenya hurried towards the changing rooms without having to run around the pool. Fey let out a soft laugh as she walked over to pick up her ball before heading towards the locker room as well.
