The following day, everyone resumed their respective training regiments. Tenya and Fey got to work early with their little game of cat and mouse. Even though this was meant to be a serious training exercise, the two of them still found a way to make the experience enjoyable by turning it into a game. This didn't mean that they were slacking off, however. Since both of them were very competitive, especially when it came to competing against each other, they constantly pushed each other to outperform the other. In between training sessions, they would give each other feedback and brainstorm ways to outmaneuver each other during their workouts. All in all, they were rapidly overcoming their initial weaknesses and were improving themselves by the minute.
At the end of the day, many of the students from the hero course gathered around Fey as they had heard from her classmates that she would be giving cooking lessons to the rest of the class. Many had wanted to join her in their meal prep since most of them had never had to prepare a meal from scratch. The teachers didn't seem to mind that she had offered them her help, but the sheer number of willing participants really made her nervous. Tenya stood by her side the entire time, reassuring her as best he could. In actuality, Fey was a very capable teacher and many of her classmates improved their cooking skills under her tutelage. This was just another example of how much of a good person Fey was, and this made Tenya all the more proud to be her man.
Once supper had been over and done with, the students were called over to a clearing on the campgrounds. The Pussycats had been waiting for them along with their teacher, Mr. Aizawa. They had prepared another test for them. This time, it involved the students from class B.
"Welcome to tonight's Test of Courage!" Pixie Bob cheered happily. "We'll be starting off with Class B as our scarers. Once they're in place, Class A will leave in pairs every 3 minutes. There are tags with your names on them at the far end of the route. Your goal is to collect them and return them to us!"
Tokoyami stared off into the darkness of the woods. "Revelry in the dark…"
"Why does he keep saying that?" Ochaco whispered to Fey.
"Those who are scarers aren't allowed to make physical contact!" Pixie Bob continued. "Use your quirks to terrify the others, got it?"
"The winners are the creative students who make the most people piss their pants!" Tiger yelled aggressively.
"Did we seriously need that visual?" Kyoka whined.
"I see!" Tenya exclaimed suddenly. "They're encouraging us to stoke our imaginations as we compete with each other, all while showing us more uses for our quirks in the process! AS EXPECTED OF U.A.!"
The last part made Fey jump, startling her. She was standing just next to him and hadn't expected him to get so agitated.
"You're oddly into this, Tenya," she remarked with a laugh.
"Alright! Everyone draw to see who you'll be partnered with!" Pixie Bob shouted excitedly, holding out a handful of papers in her fist.
The classmates who had failed their final exams were dragged off to the camping facility by Mr. Aizawa. Meanwhile, the rest drew up their teams. Fey was disappointed to find out she hadn't drawn up Tenya's number, so she wouldn't be paired with him for the Test of Courage. On the bright side, she had pulled Izuku's number, so she would be paired with one of her friends after all.
"Hey, looks like we'll be doing this together Deku!" Fey said cheerfully.
Her face immediately changed once she realized how scared Midoriya was. She tried to reassure him as best she could while the other teams were being sent out into the woods. They could hear the sound of screaming coming from the forest, which only freaked Izuku out even more. Fey was clearly the braver one of the two, so she would have to help her teammate get through the test. But before their turn could ever come, Fey spotted smoke rising from the other side of the forest.
"Has something been set ablaze?!" Tenya asked in a concerned voice. His team hadn't been sent out yet.
The other students and the Pussycats noticed the smoke as well. But there was something else in the air. Fey couldn't put her finger on what it was, but it smelled foul.
"What's that foul stench in the air?" Pixie Bob asked to herself.
Then, suddenly, she felt herself start to float up into the air.
"H-Hey what gives?!" she yelled.
"Pixie Bob!" Mandalay called out to her as she was suddenly propelled into the forest. A few seconds later, a pair of figures stepped out of the brush.
"First, let's get rid of these feral cats…" one of them declared.
The pair consisted of a man, or what Fey thought was a man initially, in prison garbs and a pair of sunglasses and some sort of lizard looking male. Fey immediately recognized the lizardman's attire, since it resembled what the Hero Killer wore when they had faced off against him. She figured he must have been a fan, especially considering what weapons he was wearing on his person.
"What? No way…" Mineta said in a shaky voice. "I thought they made sure no one could find us! So why the heck are there villains attacking this place?!"
"Pixie Bob!" Izuku yelled as he spotted her on the ground.
Her head was bleeding, probably after being hit by whatever that prisoner looking individual was carrying. Midoriya was stopped in his tracks by Tiger and Mandalay, who stood in between them and the two villains.
"This is bad…" Mandalay said as she stared the two villains down.
Izuku looked around for a moment. He seemed to be looking for something, or someone. After a few seconds, his face turned into a shocked expression.
"Where's Kota?" he asked in a trembling voice.
Fey remembered now. That little kid he had tried to befriend and who had been standing guard at the hot springs. Now that he mentioned him, Fey looked around to see where he was, but couldn't find him anywhere. She figured he could have ran into the woods or had stayed at the facility. She hoped it was the latter and that the kid wasn't actually somewhere around here where the villains could have gotten to him…
"How are you this evening, U.A. Academy?" the lizardman finally exclaimed.
Fey stared at him with a funny look. Was this guy being for real?
"We are part of the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains!" he continued, extending his arms to the side for dramatic effect.
Fey's eyes widened. The League of Villains were the ones attacking the training camp?! This was not good at all…
"The League of Villains?" Ojiro said in a surprised tone. "What are those guys doing here?!"
The prisoner spoke again. "I could crush this kitty's head so easily… How about it, dears, should I?" They spoke with a very effeminate voice.
"You get away from her!" Tiger yelled, fist clenched.
"Now now!" the lizardman interjected. "Hold on Big Sis Magne! You too Tiger, calm down. When deciding if someone should live or die, we must be careful that we're abiding by Stain's principles."
Yeah… He was definitely a fanboy…
"Stain?!" Midoriya gasped.
"So you're the ones he ended up inspiring?" Tenya spat, his voice dripping with contempt.
"At your service!" the lizardman exclaimed proudly. "And you, Four-Eyes, I recognize you! You're one of the self-righteous brats who attacked Stain in Hosu City. Let me introduce myself…" He pulled out the enormous sword from his back. The wrappings fell off as he grasped it, revealing a vulgar amalgame of different bladed weapons held together by some belts. "Call me Spinner! I'm here to make Stain's dreams a reality!"
Fey instinctively flew in front of Tenya, staring down the lizardman with hateful eyes. She lifted her fist in front of her, ready to fight.
"No one cares who you are!" she hissed. "You're just a bunch of lowlife thugs!"
"Just who do you think you are?" Tiger yelled, taking a step towards them. "That woman lying there is named Pixie Bob. She's a pro hero who's saved countless lives! She's giving her all for these young heroes, pushing them to reach their full potential. She's looking for a mate, but otherwise, she's content." His claws emerged from the tips of his gloves. "What gives you the right to cut such a happy life short?!"
The lizardman lunged at him with his sword. "Didn't anyone tell you it's not a hero's job to be happy?!"
"Tiger!" Mandalay interjected. "I've warned everyone of the dangers here! Trust the safety of the other students to Ragdoll. You and I will stay here, and hold these two back." She turned towards the group of students behind her. "You return to camp. Class Rep', you're in charge on the way there. Don't engage anyone!"
"Leave it to me!" Tenya said, full of determination. "Let's go, everyone!"
He started to run towards the direction in which the facility was located, but stopped once he noticed that Midoriya wasn't moving.
"Midoriya!" he called out to him.
"Go on ahead without me!" Izuku yelled back, before turning towards Mandalay. "Mandalay! I know where Kota is!"
While Midoriya went on to find Kota, Tenya led the rest of class A towards the main building. Fey took to the skies to scout ahead, staying on the lookout for any sign of their classmates or trouble. Luckily, they were able to make it back to the main building, where the students who had failed their finals were holed up with Vlad King, class B's homeroom teacher. As they approached the building, they came across Aizawa running towards where they had just come from. He had just dispatched one of the villains that were attacking the camp.
"Get inside!" he ordered them. "I'll be back!"
Before they could even answer him, he was always gone. Tenya ushered everyone inside and they were rejoined with their classmates.
"Mina!" Fey shouted as she saw her in the classroom.
"Oh my god Fey!" Mina shouted back, before running towards her to hug her.
The two women embraced each other as if they hadn't seen each other just a few moments ago. Fey was so relieved to find that some of her friends were okay. As they pulled away, their minds were assaulted by one of Mandalay's telepathic messages.
"Everyone, listen up! You have permission from Eraserhead to engage the enemies using your quirks! Also, we've learned that the villains are after someone named Kacchan!"
"Bakugou?" Kirishima said in a surprised voice.
"What do they want with him?" Tenya asked with concern.
Fey wondered why the villains were after Katsuki specifically. Was it because he had won the U.A. Sports Festival? Or was it because they had seen how savage and unhinged he was when he had won? Whatever the reason was, it couldn't be anything good.
"Come on, we need to go help our classmates!" Kirishima shouted, pumping his fist in the air.
"Yeah let's go!" Fey chimed in.
"You're not going anywhere…" Vlad King said, crossing his arms over his chest.
They all stared at him with shock, including Fey. Aizawa had given them permission to engage with the enemy and they knew exactly what they were after, so why was he preventing them from helping out their classmates?
"Come on!" Eijirou protested loudly. "You heard what Mandalay said! I can't let them get my friend! You gotta let me go find him, please!"
"Not a chance." Vlad wasn't budging.
"But why not?!"
"Come on cool it, Kirishima…" Mina said as she approached him.
"Excuse me!" Tenya interjected. "We don't know how many villains there are. Shouldn't we have as many fighters as possible?"
"You can't seriously want to face the bad guys?!" Mineta said in a scared voice.
"Iida gets it!" Eijirou replied. "Even Mr. Aizawa said to fight!"
"Only for self defense," Vlad continued. "He meant the students in the woods."
Kirishima growled angrily, lowering his head in defeat. Fey couldn't believe they weren't allowed to go after their friends. Their disappointment was quickly cut short by the sound of the front door opening.
"Was that the door?" Rikido asked.
"I guess Mr. Aizawa is back already," Ojiro replied.
"Finally," Kirishima said as he went for the door. "He'll understand."
"No, wait." Vlad stopped him in his tracks.
A shadow appeared behind the door. None of them recognized the silhouette that was standing right outside their class and Vlad pushed Kirishima further into the room.
"Move!"
The next thing they knew, the door was being torn apart by a huge, blue fiery explosion. Vlad King pushed Kirishima and Mina away, jumping away from the explosion as he did. Tenya grabbed hold of Fey, holding her against his chest as he turned his back to the explosion.
"Everyone get back!" he yelled at his classmates.
Once the flames had cleared, they all stared in shock as a young, raven-haired man appeared at the front of the class. He had gruesome scars all across his body and face, giving his skin a patchwork appearance. Fey immediately recognized him as the man Aizawa had dispatched earlier when they had reached the facility.
"No way!" Mineta pointed to him. "That's the guy Mr. Aizawa defeated earlier!"
Vlad King wasted no time in grabbing the man by the face and smashing him against the wall behind him. The impact left an enormous crater on the wall. He then trapped the villain in a barrier made from crystalized blood.
"You dare walk into my classroom without so much as a plan?!" he scolded the young man, glaring at him with angry eyes. "You underestimate us."
"Are you sure about that?" The villain chuckled softly. "You're acting exactly like I imagined. You're already defeated, regardless of what happens to me…" He looked over at the rest of the class. "The two most trusted pillars of the superhuman society and linked together. U.A., the pinnacle of hero education, and All-Might, the symbol of peace. But embarrassing incidents have damaged the world's trust in you both… Sloppy management keeps allowing villains to slip in and attack the student. People are so shaken that they've almost lost all faith in you. Imagine how they'll react when they find out that you've let a student get kidnapped…"
"You shut up!" Kirishima yelled. "That's not gonna happen!"
"Not our classmate!" Tenya chimed in.
"Not while we're here!" Kaminari chipped in as well.
"Don't be naive," the villain interjected. "It only took a handful of us to separate you from the pros and start picking you off."
"That's enough!" Vlad shouted angrily as he was about to bring his fist down on the villain.
At the same time, Aizawa suddenly appeared from the door, kicking the young man straight in the face.
"It's no use Vlad!" he said and he wrapped his scarf around the villain. "This guy's just trying to provoke you. He won't talk!"
Aizawa started to stomp on the villain as he laid on the ground.
"Umm Mr. Aizawa? I think you got him…" Denki said in an unsure tone.
The villain quickly dissipated into a large mud pile, causing most of the class to gasp in shock.
"Another fake," Aizawa grumbled. "I fought one before…"
"It must be a villain's quirk," Iida commented as he approached the front of the class.
"Eraser," Vlad interrupted. "What's it like out there?"
"Hard to say," Aizawa replied. "I left to direct our defense, but I ended up taking care of Kota."
Fey followed her teacher's gaze toward the door, where young Kota was standing, completely overwhelmed by what was happening all around him. He looked as if he had been crying, which didn't surprise her in the slightest. He seemed so scared and Fey couldn't help but think of her three sisters when she looked at him. If they had been caught up in all this chaos, Fey couldn't imagine how she would be able to handle the situation.
"Look after him while I go back to the front line," Aizawa ordered. "I'm counting on you to keep defending this place!"
"Is that wise?" Vlad asked. "We hardly know anything about them!"
"You'll be just fine by yourself." Aizawa looked down at the puddle of mudd. "The other copy of him I fought earlier used the same attack. I think their strategy is to send their strongest fighters here to keep our attention since we're the pros. That's how they're trying to disguise the fact that there are so few of them out there."
"If there aren't many, we should be fighting too!" Kirishima interrupted vehemently.
"Yes! You need strength in numbers!" Tenya replied with as much energy as Eijirou.
"NO." Aizawa's icy glare stared back at them. "If they're not here for us, then they're after the students." Everyone sighed in defeat. "We know about Bakugou, but they might be targeting others as well. We're still sorely lacking in information. The only way we win this, is by making sure you students are protec-"
They heard a loud buzzing noise zip past them as a huge gust of wind suddenly blew through the class. Fey wasn't going to wait for permission to go after her friends. She was going to help them whether her teacher wanted to or not. Once they realized Fey had been the one to rush out of the classroom, many of her classmates stared at the doorway in shock while Eraserhead sighed. Tenya felt his entire body start to shake. He couldn't believe that she would so blatantly go against Mr. Aizawa's instructions like that, right in front of him no less. He went to go and chase after her, but was stopped by Aizawa's cold gaze.
"Stay. Put." He ordered. "If I catch anyone else outside of this classroom, you'll all be in serious trouble…"
