This is my first South Park story, so I decided to start off with something simple. I have plenty more on the way if I end up deciding to make more.

Just a quick point, I will probably never post a South Park story with less than a T rating because… I mean come on, its South Park. Plus I don't know for sure if it will fit within the restrictions so it's just a safer bet, same goes for pretty much all of my stories in general. Just thought I'd mention that.

Disclaimer: I do not own South Park.

On to the story shall we…

Footsteps echoed through the quiet evening air of the streets of South Park. Dressed in her purple coat and signature pink beret was Wendy Testaburger, star reporter of South Park Elementary on her way home from a less than eventful meeting with the rest of her news team.

Wendy is part of her school's news team and is the lead reporter investigating who Mysterion is. Everyone thought it was Kyle after he revealed his face in front of the whole town and was subsequently sent to jail for vigilantism. But when Mysterion was seen stopping a robbery at the gas station the next day, everyone realized that he couldn't be Kyle, a statement which he later confirmed.

So, the boy was released from jail, and given quite the lecture from his mother for impersonating the vigilante.

But with the reveal that Kyle was lying and only pretended to be Mysterion, the whole question as to his identity rose up again. This also gave her a brief bit of hope that her theory of Mysterion being a girl could come true, which she would have loved to shove into Cartman's fat, sexist face.

Unfortunately for her though, when she interviewed Kyle for any details he knew about Mysterion, he confirmed that the young vigilante was indeed a boy as he had shown him who he was as thanks for taking the fall for him. But despite constant questioning he staunchly refused to tell anyone who the hero was, and eventually people stopped bothering him.

Her own investigating didn't turn up much either since, as his name implies, Mysterion was incredibly elusive, evading all of her attempts at catching him for an interview.

So, she left the after school meeting despondent and was very distracted as she made her way through the dimly lit streets of South Park. The meeting had gone on later than expected and her parents were off either working late in the case of her mother, or in the case of her father, drinking at the Crunchy's Micro Brew pub. That left her with the option of walking home alone.

Normally she might call her boyfriend Stan to get a ride from his folks, or her best friend Bebe, but she and Stan were currently on one of their many breaks, and Bebe was on a study date with her boyfriend Clyde.

As she was walking down the street, she was so distracted that she didn't notice the group of 4 sixth graders that were following her. That is, until she passed by an alleyway, where they grabbed her from behind before dragging her into the dark alley.

"Hey their fourthie, what's a pretty little thing like you doing out all by yourself?" One of them asked.

"Don't worry, we'll protect you." Another said.

Wendy tried to get away, but they blocked the way out. She managed to kick one in the balls and punch another in the gut, but the other two quickly overpowered her and grabbed her arms. She continued to struggle against them but their grip on her arms were too tight.

"Damn fourthie scum!" They yelled as they shoved her roughly to the ground. They all were surrounding her menacingly now with angry looks on their faces. "We'll teach you to mess with us."

As she prepared herself for the inevitable beating that was to come, a gravelly voice stopped all of them in their tracks.

"Don't even try it assholes."

All eyes looked up to the roof of one of the buildings of the alley way to see none other than Mysterion himself crouched on the ledge, his cape billowing in the wind while he stared daggers at the older kids.

Said kids didn't dare to say anything, still trying to believe that what they were seeing was real. Wendy herself was too awestruck to form words. The very one she had been chasing for weeks now was right here. If the situation wasn't the way it was, she would already be pestering him with questions.

Mysterion then jumped down to the ground in an effortless front flip before landing in a classic crouched hero pose.

"I'll give you one chance to leave now before things get ugly." He said. His eyes shifted focus to Wendy, who was still on the ground. His gaze softened slightly, offering a form of silent comfort before they shifted back to the sixth graders and his eyes returned to their steely glare.

One of the sixth graders finally regained his composure and taunted the masked boy.

"Heh, come on, be serious here, there's four of us and only one you. What chance do you stand kid?" He smugly stated. This brought his buddies from their reverie, and they also got ready to fight.

Mysterion showed no reaction and was silent for several seconds before coldly stating.

"Just remember, I gave you a chance."

With that he lowered himself into a fighting stance. The sixth graders took the bait and two of them charged at the lone hero. The first guy threw an easily telegraphed punch which Mysterion had no trouble catching before sending one of his own into the boy's balls, causing him to fall to his knees clutching his crotch in pain. Mysterion then used the boy's lapse in focus to grip his hair and pull his head down into his rising knee, knocking him out cold before throwing the unconscious teen onto his back.

He then turned to the second guy who was stunned at seeing his friend defeated so easily. Mysterion rushed at the now scared shitless teen who gave a desperate and awkward swing in an attempt to fend off the fast-approaching hero. But naturally, his attack missed as Mysterion swiftly ducked under it and used his new crouched position to launch a powerful uppercut directly to the teen's chin. The strength of the blow had so much power that it briefly sent the teen flying before he landed hard on the ground. He tried to pick himself back up while rubbing his jaw, but in doing so was completely undefended when Mysterion came up to him and gave a hard kick to his temple, finishing him off too.

The remaining two sixth graders, along with Wendy, were speechless. Obviously, they had heard of the legendary hero's prowess, hell, they had even seen him in action fighting actual armed criminals over the previous 2 weeks. But that didn't make it any less impressive to see him effortlessly defeat half of their group like they were nothing.

The two of them decided then that if they were going to get their asses kicked, then they could at least do some damage to him in return in the hopes to save face.

The two of them pulled out switchblades from their back pockets and slowly walked to either side of the hero, hoping to flank him.

As they carefully made their way to Mysterion, the hero's eyes switched back and forth between the two of them. The hero didn't move. He hadn't even flinched when he saw them pull out their knives.

One of the teenagers decided he was done waiting and started running, picking up speed as he rushed towards Mysterion.

He still didn't move.

The switchblade wielding teen got closer and closer until he was almost within reach of the boy. Mysterion waited until the very last second before he moved out of the way, using the teen's own momentum to sweep his leg under his attacker, effortlessly sending him stumbling straight into the wall. Dazed, the teen hobbled back to his feet and tried to swipe at the boy, only for Mysterion to twist his body out of the way like a cat before catching his hand and disarming him.

Unfortunately, Mysterion failed to notice the other teen that had used his friend's distraction to sneak up on him and stab him in the side. Grunting, he lost his grip on the knife which allowed for the other teen to snatch it out of the air and slash the hero across the chest.

Years of dying in all of the most painful ways imaginable were what allowed Mysterion to ignore most of the pain from the two wounds. He backed away slightly in order to give himself the chance to check his injuries.

The one on his chest that had also ruined one of the few suits he had was thankfully superficial, he'd be able to survive that even without his power.

His main concern was the stab wound in his side. Luckily the one who stabbed him had shit poor aim since it missed his rib cage where it could have punctured a lung and ended the fight already. Instead it was lower and came in on an angle, hitting him in the lower torso. Fate seemed to be smiling on him today though since from what he could feel, the blade had struck nothing but muscle and flesh, leaving his organs unharmed. The only real danger was blood loss, but if he could end this quickly, he may be able to avoid having to die tonight.

The two teens were done waiting and moved in to finish the injured hero. The one who stabbed him tried to repeat his earlier move but to his shock, Mysterion caught his fist in a single twist of his wrist, broke his hand and caused him to drop his knife. The dark hero followed up with a hard punch square to the face, staggering his attacker.

The other teen tried to bring his knife down on the boy, but Mysterion grabbed his arm and used the momentum to continue the swing until his arm was wrenched behind his back. With a simply sweep of the leg the dark hero had the teen lying on his belly with his arm pinned behind him. The boy then took the knife from his hand and threw it far away before pushing harder on the arm, causing the helpless teen to scream in pain. Satisfied with his payback, he ended the teen's misery with a punch to the back of the head, causing it to bounce off the concrete and knocking him out.

All that was left now was the last guy who had regained his composure and glared at Mysterion with bloodlust in his eyes. He charged at the hero with reckless abandon, determined to finish him off if it was the last thing he did.

Mysterion had no trouble dodging the wild swings of his foe's knife. He continued to dance around the strikes as he waited for the right moment to strike. Eventually he saw his opening when the enraged teen clumsily tripped over his own feet, allowing the hero to smack his weapon hand away and use his other hand to jab into his throat. The teen choked from the sensation and grabbed at his throat in a vain attempt to gasp for air. Mysterion then struck him in the back of the knee, causing him to collapse and looked the teen directly in the eyes.

"I gave you the chance to walk away, guess you should have taken it." He said before ending the fight with one last sucker punch right to the cheek.

Looking over at the other fallen sixth graders, Mysterion spared them only a passing glance before he slowly made his way over to the half-forgotten girl still lying on the ground.

He calmly walked over to her and offered a gloved hand to help her up.

"Are you alright?" He asked with a surprisingly soft tone, the faint traces of a smile on his lips.

Wendy could do nothing but stare in a stunned silence, feeling overwhelmed. Never had she expected to witness something such as this. The famed hero Mysterion, who she had spent weeks chasing to no avail, had just saved her life. As he stood over her, hand extended to offer her aid, she couldn't help but be awestruck.

The hero's body was covered in cuts and bruises; some pieces of his outfit torn, exposing his white skin. There was no doubt that he was in pain, and yet, the intensity of his gaze never left his eyes. They just conveyed a sense of warmth and security, assuring her that everything was going to be ok.

Speechless, Wendy's eyes sparkled in genuine amazement as she slowly reached out and took his hand. As he pulled her to her feet, she came face to face with his eyes. At such a close distance she could clearly see into those deep blue orbs.

They almost reminded her of Stan's except while his were a dark, at times almost blackish blue, these were deep and vibrant sky blue that seemed to pierce through her soul.

"I called the police, they should be here soon." The dark hero's voice shook her from her reverie, causing her to blush slightly as she realized what she had been doing.

"Uh-h yeah, great. Th-thanks." She said. It was then that her attention was caught by the still profusely bleeding wound on his side.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?!" She asked as she tentatively checked the nasty looking wound.

"I'm fine. Trust me, I've been through way worse than this." Mysterion said.

Wendy looked at his masked face, in disbelief at his nonchalant attitude towards what must be very painful injuries. But he just stared back at her with firm conviction clear as day on his face.

"I have to go now, just wait here until the police arrive." He said as he walked further into the shadows of the alley.

"Wait!" Wendy called out. "I've been trying to get a hold of you for weeks. I have to know who you are."

Mysterion stopped and looked back to her. He could see that she was determined in this. He was well aware of her attempts to catch him over the last two weeks and was well aware of how frustrating he had been making it for her. But he wasn't about to reveal his secret identity that easily. Looking her in the eyes he says in a calm, even voice, the same thing he told Cartman on his first night out.

"I am an angel keeping watch over the city at night. As violence and darkness take over the streets, I work to rid this city of crime. I am Mysterion."

Before Wendy can respond the sound of approaching police sirens in the distance draws her attention. But when she looks back, she finds the hero gone. Vanished without a trace.

Wendy thought about what just happened, the last few weeks of her investigating into the hero, the very same hero who appeared out of nowhere like a guardian angel to save her, and his brief but powerful words.

After everything that happened tonight, she feels even more determined to figure out Mysterion's identity. She will learn who he really is.

If nothing else, just so that she can properly thank her dark savior.
