Happy Pi-day! Hope everyone is staying safe from the pandemic.

Mayor has declared a state of emergency. People are panicking. It's crazy out there when you can no longer find toilet paper, bleach, or hand sanitizer in stores. So, what better time than to upload a new story. Please be careful because even if it's not that bad, the panic will make everything worse.

This story is for Silvanna Nightlight. I hope she will write her own Fairy Tale Story soon.

I do not own.

Rex knocked on the door of an unassuming house.

Meechum opened the door. "You're late," he grumbled.

"What?" Rex looked at his phone. "What are you talking about? It's only 11."

"You said you'd be here this morning. It's almost noon." Meechum moved over to let him in.

"Yeah and before noon is still morning." Rex protested walking in. "And it's before noon."

"Kids these days and their poor time management." He complained. "She's been asking for you." He pointed upstairs.

Rex went up to the room Meechum was pointing at. He knocked on the door. "Hey squirt. I'm here."

"You're late!" She called out.

Rex walked in. "You sound just like your dad."

"No I don't. And you're late." Sarah was sitting up on the bed with her arms crossed.

"I said morning. It's still the morning." He pulled up a chair to her bedside. "How are you feeling?"

"Lousy, the doctor says I gotta stay in bed for two more days because of my broken foot. I'm so bored!" She flopped down on the bed.

"Well, that's why I'm here. The boredom buster." Rex said proudly as he pulled a book from inside his jacket.

Sarah looked over with a frown. "A book? That's even more boring."

"What are you talking about? This is like the mist awesomest story ever." Rex said.

"Uh huh." She said unconvinced.

"Hey, it's the story Six read to me when I was sick." Rex told her.

"Really?" Sarah perked up. "Six, read to you?"

"Oh yeah, when I had the flu. And then I threw up over his shoes."

"Ewww," Sarah wrinkled her nose.

"Yeah, so you want to hear the story?" Rex asked.

"I guess." She shrugged.

"Geez, don't sound so excited." Rex opened the book and started. "Once upon a time…"

"That's a baby line." Sarah groaned.

"Don't worry, it'll be good." Rex reassured her. He began again.

Once upon a time, there lived two brothers, Conrad and Roy. Because they were orphans, Conrad had to take care of his younger brother Roy. Roy saw how unhappy his brother was tending sheep. He knew that Conrad wanted to be a sorcerer. But after their parents died, he stopped his studies and took over the farm.

Roy helped by taking care of the chores around the house. Every morning he had to draw water from the well, make breakfast, pack lunch, clean the house, and tend the garden. There was no time for anything else.

One morning as he was drawing water, a lady on a horse rode out from the woods. Her black hair flew wildly in the wind. A minute later several men on horses appeared riding after her. One of them aimed a crossbow at her.

Roy watched in horror as the arrow flew between the horse's legs. The horse fell along with the woman. Roy was afraid that the horse would crush her but by some miracle she emerged unscathed. The terrified horse got up and galloped away. The two riders dismounted and grabbed her.

Roy watched her struggle. One rider had a crest of a dragon and the other had the crest of a wolf. Roy recognized that they were the dreaded elite soldiers of the Principality of Baratrum. They were not to be reckoned with.

"Help! Please help!" The lady implored.

"There's no one here to help you, Princess Reselda." The one with the wolf crest growled.

"You've caused us enough trouble." The dragon crest added.

"Please." Her green eyes met Roy's.

"You expect that mite to help?" The wolf scoffed.

"We'd eat him in one bite." The dragon laughed.

Roy bit his lip. The riders started dragging her away. Roy dropped his bucket and ran.

"Bah, coward." The wolf snorted.

They tied the lady's hands and threw her across one of their horse. As the wolf was about to get on the ground started trembling. The two men looked at each other confused. They both turned around to see a cloud of dust coming towards them.

"Is that… sheep?" The dragon asked incredulous.

A second later they were trampled by a horde of furry sheep. The horse with the princess reared and started galloping away.

Roy ran in front of the horse to stop it.

"Hey boy, that's a good boy." He said trying to calm it. He grabbed its reigns and pulled hard. The horse stopped moving around. He ran to the lady and untied her hands.

"Thank you." She gasped.

"Don't thank me yet." He replied looking over at the two soldiers who was recovering from the stampede.

"We have to get out of here." She urged.

"Roy, what's going on here?" Conrad jogged over. "What happened to the flock?"

"Now's not a good time." Roy said nervously looking over to the soldiers.

"What did you do, little brother?" Conrad asked exasperated.

The lady had already straightened herself on the horse. Roy jumped on behind her.

"Conrad, get on." Roy held out his hand.

Conrad hesitated but the two soldiers pulling out swords helped make up his mind.

When he was hauled up, the horse took off.

I had this idea for a while now. I put up a poll a while ago asking what story I should write first and oddly enough Holiday teaching Rex to drive won. So I don't know if anyone is interested in this story. Hope you like it and hope you are all well. Praying for you all.
