Chapter 1: The monster under the bridge.

It was a bright sunny day at hero headquarters, and quite a peaceful one at that. As the main entry doors opened, Anne, Sprig, Polly, Luz, Willow, Gus, Ty, Skya, and Dozer came walking out happily chatting with each other.

Anne:(laughs) "Man, how rad was that bingo game!?"

Sprig: "Yeah, I won like 3 times in a row!"

Dozer: "You don't have to rub that in you know."

Sprig: "Oh, you're just upset because you're feeling like a sore loser."

Dozer: "Why you…

Dozer was about to go over towards Sprig, but Ty rolled out in front of him.

Ty: "Dozer, that's no way to behave just because Sprig won 3 bingo games in a row."

Luz: "Yeah, you just need a little more practice on that game."

Dozer: "It's hard enough as it is, I'm only able to pick up the chips with my mouth!"

Revit: "Have you tried using either of your horns?"

At that moment, Dozer felt rather dumbstruck. It turned out he was so busy focusing on the game, he almost forgot that he was a dozeratops. Just then, Leo, Donnie, Mikey, and Slash walked over. Poppy was riding on Leo's shoulder, and Branch was riding on Slash's shoulder.

Leo: "Hey guys, how was that bingo game?"

Gus: "We actually played a few of them."

Sprig: "I won 3 in a row."

Dozer: "Don't we know it already!"

Poppy:(jumps down from Leo's shoulder) "Wow guys, that sounds like some fun you had. Too bad we couldn't join, we had to make a quick supply run."

With that, Poppy gestured over to the wagon of supplies that Slash was pulling.

Slash: "But on the bright side, we got some pretty good stuff on that little run."

Donnie: "Yeah,(picks up an old microscope) I was able to find a new microscope after my other one broke."

Mikey:(Picks up a Pepsi bottle) "Oh yeah, pepsi for the win!"

But when Mikey took a quick drink from the Pepsi bottle, he suddenly started getting a funny feeling inside his mouth. His eyes suddenly popped as big as saucers, then he spit the liquid back into the bottle. After watching that moment, the other heroes gawked at such a disgusting stunt.

Donnie: "Seriously Mikey, that bottle came out of a junkyard."

Anne: "Yeah, it's not really a good idea to find food in a junkyard."

Mikey: "Come on, I live in a sewer."

Willow: "Just because you live in a sewer, that still doesn't mean you should find food from the trash.

Polly: "Yeah, get a proper life jack!"

Suddenly, they all heard a strange sparking noise. They all looked around, but none of them could figure out where the noise was coming from. Until…..

Gus:(points upward) "Guys, heads up!"

When everyone looked up towards where Gus was pointing, they saw that the base's force field generating tower was sparking like mad. But before they knew it, parts of the tower started breaking off and falling.

Ty: "Take cover!"

Everyone scattered all over the yard, trying their best to avoid the falling debris.

Poppy and Branch were running away from the debris, then they saw a panel falling right at them. Lucky for Branch, he used his hair as a lasso to catch the panel and throw it to where it couldn't do any harm to them.

Branch: "Ha, nothing will hurt us as long as I'm around!"

Meanwhile, Ty was zigzagging across the yard avoiding the debris as well. When another piece of the tower came falling towards him, he swung his wrecking ball against it causing it to smash into pieces.

Ty: "Boom, did it!"

Next, Luz and Willow kept getting their path blocked by falling debris. But when a massive panel came falling, Willow drew a green glowing circle on the ground causing a massive vine to shoot out of the ground and catch the panel while it was still in the air.

Luz: "Wow, nice one Willow."

Willow: "Some people just got it."

At last, all of the debris from the tower had finished falling. But the entire yard was covered in busted machinery, but luckily nobody was hurt.

Ty: "Is everyone okay?"

Anne:(groans) "Yeah Ty, we're fine."

Sprig: "More or less."

Revit: "Wow, I did not see that coming."

Raph: "Who wouldn't have seen that coming!?"

Branch: "Relax Raph, the good thing is that everyone is okay."

Soon enough, everyone gathered back up with each other. Once they looked up at the tower again, they started feeling a little upset. Donnie walked up to the side of the tower with Revit on his shoulder, then he opened up a panel and took a look inside of it.

Donnie: "Hmm…...according to the systems in its panel, it seems that the tower has run out of synthetic energon."

Revit: "I believe you're correct Donnie."

Dozer: "Wait, the force field tower runs on synthetic energon?"

Ty: "Of course it does Dozer. Since we need such a powerful force field to protect our base, we use an extremely powerful resource to power it."

Luz: "At it turns out, god invented synthetic energon."

After Donnie finished looking at the panel, he turned around towards the heroes with a disappointed look on his face.

Donnie: "But last time I checked, we were completely out of synthetic energon."

Luz, Gus, Polly, Leo, and Mikey: "WHAT!?"

Ty: "He's right guys, we just ran out of it last week. Even with how rare this stuff is, who knows if we'll ever find any."

Skya: "Come on Ty, I'm sure we can find some synthetic energon somewhere."

After hearing what Skya said, Donnie took a look at his homemade GPS to see if there actually was any synthetic energon that was still out there. After a few moments, he found something.

Donnie: "Great news guys, I found a source of synthetic energon! The bad news is, it's hidden deep in a dark forest on the other side of some kind of stone bridge."

Poppy: "Woah."

Ty: "Ha, what's so bad about that?"

Donnie: "Not sure, but a lot of people have been running away before even reaching the bridge for some reason."

Branch: "Strange, I should go get some of that synthetic energon and find out this little mystery."

Revit: "Perhaps we should send someone who's more capable of collecting enough for the tower."

Gus: "I'll do it guys!"

At that moment, everyone looked towards Gus with both confused and suspicious looks.

Dozer: "You?"

Gus: "You guys got a problem with that?"

Leo: "No Gus, but don't you think it's a little unsafe for someone like you to go out there on your own?"

Luz: "You sure you don't want some of us to come with you?"

Gus: "Guys, I'll be fine! I'm a member of the illusion track, that was 1 of the most powerful tracks in Hexide."

Ty:(chuckles) "Alright Gus, you can go."

With that, they found Gus a wagon that would be big enough to hold enough synthetic energon for the tower. Once Gus got situated, he was about to head off on his mission.

Leo: "Alright, ya all set?"

Gus: "You bet!(chuckles)"

Slash: "Just be careful out there kid.l

Branch: "Ya sure you don't need to borrow some of my weapons in case ya run into trouble?"

Poppy: "Branch!"

Branch: "What?"

Leo: "The point is…...be safe."

Gus: "No problem."

With that, Gus started walking off on his very important mission. The heroes were still feeling worried about what would happen to Gus, but they still trusted him.

Ty: "Good luck!"

Mikey: "So long fellow hero!"

Poppy: "Have a safe trip!"

Agreeing to the calls, Gus triumphantly set off on his mission. He wasn't sure what would happen, but all he knew was that he would not let his friends down.

At the outside of a really thick forest, there lies a large stone bridge going over a rushing river. At that moment, Gus came walking towards the bridge with his wagon. But Gus was feeling rather bored, so he spawned 1 of his illusions to keep him company.

Gus: "Say buddy, how much synthetic energon should we collect for this run?"

Gus's illusion: "Why are you asking me, I don't even know a thing about that stuff!"

Gus: "Don't you snap at me, you once nearly got me in trouble by not taking notes for-

But before Gus could finish his sentence, he and his illusion both jumped when they heard a strange growling noise. Since they were standing right by the start of the bridge when they heard the noise, they thought it came from there.

Gus: "Okay, s-s-s-stay calm. I'm sure it was nothing, let's just cross this bridge and finish our mission."

But the moment they heard the sound again, Gus's illusion ran back the way they came screaming in fear.

Gus: "Hey, wait for me!"

With that, Gus followed his illusion away from the bridge and back the way they came. He felt bad for letting his friends down so badly, but he just couldn't stand that scary growling sound.
