October 1985

It's been a great week since Steve Harrington and his good friend Robin started working at Family Video after the Starcourt Mall burned down in July. And just as Robin thought, the store got more attention from many girls simply because they wanted to go, talk, or flirt to Steve, and even rented films. Some they wanted to see, and others out of Steve's suggestions. Come to think of it, more of the latter than the former. No matter because the point was, the store was better than ever.

While Keith went out for a meeting, both teens felt a little fun since there was no one else around. Steve turned on the radio that was close to the counter, and to their surprise Loverboy's Working for the Weekend started playing. The two began to sing and dance along to it.

Everyone's watching, to see what you will do

Everyone's looking at you, oh

Everyone's wondering, will you come out tonight

Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right

"Whoo!" an unfamiliar voice echoed in the room. Both turned to see that a girl entered and was dancing to the song too, and throwing in rhythmic guitar riffs. She was about the same height as Robin and age as them, had chocolate brown eyes and short shoulder-length curly hair, rosy cheeks, pink lips, and slender figure. She almost looked like a teenage Audrey Hepburn in a cute and nerdy way, referring to her stylish black eyeglasses. Her attire would make a punk or heavy metal rocker fall to their knees; black and white sneakers, semi-tight jeans, black T-shirt with little bright red lightning bolts all over, a black soft spiky bracelet on her left wrist, and small bright red lightning earrings. Steve and Robin were caught in awe by this girl's moves and continued dancing and singing along with her.

Everybody's working for the weekend

Everybody wants a new romance

Everybody's goin' off the deep end

Everybody needs a second chance, oh

You want a piece of my heart

You better start from the start

You wanna be in the show

Come on baby let's go

Robin lowered the volume down. "Hey, sorry about that. How can we help?"

"Oh no, that's okay," the girl smiled. "Was a lot of fun actually. I'm looking for a good romantic comedy and an action/sci-fi one."

"May I say," Robin said, "You have a similar likeness to Audrey Hepburn."

"Thanks. I get that a lot," the girl laughed.

"Might I recommend The Goodbye Girl?"

"Yeah."

"And might I recommend," Steve said, "Star Wars?"

"Seen them all," the girl smirked.

The others looked stunned.

"What? Girls can't like Star Wars or what?" she giggled.

"No, of course they can," Robin laughed.

"We've never met a girl who likes Star Wars, that's all."

"Oh. Interesting. Okay, give me another best action/sci fi recommendation."

"Terminator?" Steve asked.

"Check," the girl smiled.

"Back to the Future?" Robin asked.

"Check."

"Close Encounters of the Third Kind?" Steve said.

"Yip."

"Alien?" Robin said.

"Ooh, I've been wanting to see that. Perfect!" the girl said excitedly.

They found the two videos and went to the counter. After paying for them, she said, "Thanks so much guys, and nice to meet you, Steve and Robin," she winked.

Before she exited the door, Robin said, "What's your name?"

The girl said coolly, "Watson. Liz Watson," and she closed the door behind her. The two could hear her humming as she went past the store.

"Liz seems cool," Steve said.

"Excuse me? Did I just hear you call a nerdy-looking girl cool? Has The Steve Harrington have a thing for nerdy girls now?"

"Nah, it's just…I don't know, she just seems cool to me," Steve said.

"Yeah, very interesting soul," Robin agreed.
