She let out a breath against the window, fogging it up for her to draw over. Her fingers laced the glass in a heart pattern, before forming a rip in the center of it. Lucy had experienced heartbreak- it sucked. She decided that now would be the time to focus on herself, and no one else. Like Beau would ever look out for her, let alone support her in moving to Minnesota. Her parents were ecstatic at the thought of their little girl getting a scholarship to go study music- despite their disdain for the type of music she followed.

She looked up from the heart, watching the scenery go by. This felt like a nice change of pace from Atlanta, and she hadn't even gotten out of the taxi yet. After a very boring flight, and a very long wait for the cab- she was spent. With nothing but a duffel bag, a luggage case and her guitar- Lucy Stone was ready to shake up Mankato,Minnesota. Or would she be shaken up by it? The 18 year old still wasn't quite sure yet.

The cab finally pulled to a stop as they reached the campus and she bound out of the back, grabbing her stuff before paying the man for the ride. He pulled off, leaving her to stare up at the main entrance to the school. "You new too?" A voice asked, causing her to turn around as a brunette approached with several bags.

"Hi, I'm Camille!" She said, offering a hand. "I'm studying Acting."

Lucy nodded before shaking the girl's hand. "Lucy- music. I take it you don't have friends here yet?" She asked. Camille was surprised by the girl's observation.

"How'd you know?"

Lucy shrugged. "The fact that you actually talked to me- not quite used to that yet." She admitted as she pulled her guitar a bit closer to herself.

Camille shrugged aswell. "Well that's true- say, you know which way the dorms are?" She asked as she began to trudge along the path with her stuff. Lucy follows behind, shaking her head.

"No idea."

Camille gave a chuckle as they entered the main area of the school, her eyes scanning around for a billeting bird. "Guess I'm just as lost as you-" she began, pausing as she read over the dorm assignments.

"Hey, looks like we're roomies!" She said, turning to Lucy with a smile- which admittedly was infectious. Lucy read over the sheet too and smiled.

"Cool, least it won't be a total total stranger." She said. The two chatted more as they made their way throughout the area, searching for Hall H. As they rounded the corner into the hall, Camille was explaining more about her drama club in high school when they stopped dead in their tracks. A body hit the wall in front of them, coming from the room beside them.

They turned towards the door as a tall brunette boy stuck his head out. "Weeeak!" He shouted as the body got up, revealing himself to be a short Hispanic boy.

"Like you could do better!" He said. The girls their throats, drawing both of the boys attention, not in a good way it seemed. The brunette ran a hand through his hair as the Hispanic boy removed the helmet he wore. "Hi." They both said.

"I'm James, James Diamond."

"I'm Carlos Garcia- are you two single?" He asked straight away, leading James to lightly smack his arm.

The girls chuckled awkwardly. "I'm Camille Roberts and this is my roommate Lucy Stone. I'm single, but not looking."

"Ditto for me." Lucy complied. They turned towards the room again as another figure stepped out, another brunette but shorter. He looked at James and Carlos while sipping from a can of soda and shaking his head.

"Do you guys want this TV set up or not?" He asked. Camille's eyes lingered on him for a moment, a small smile creeping up. He turned towards them, smiling. "Hi, I'm Logan Mitchell. I hope these chuckleheads didn't bother you guys."

She shook her head at him, stuttering out a response. "N-no, not at all. I'm Camille, this is Lucy- nice to meet you." She said as she struck out a hand, Logan shaking it with a smile.

"Ooh, soft. You must moisturize." He commented, wincing visibly after saying it. He cleared his throat before looking to the boys again. "Kendall's on his way back from the job hunt." He said.

Lucy cocked an eyebrow. "Job hunt? Isn't it a bit early for that?" She asked. Logan nodded.

"For Kendall Knight? No way. He got here about a week ago to get a head start on training for hockey. We all got in on scholarships, but he's more-"

"Crazy about it?"

"Obsessed with it?" The other two asked.

"Passionate!" Logan concluded. "I'm going into the medics field- Carlos is here for criminology and James is….Dude why are you here?" He asked.

James looked offended. "Um, because my best friends are here?"

Logan shook his head in annoyance. "No I mean- what're you studying? You never told us." He said.

James smirked as he pulled out a mirror, much to everyone's surprise. He looked over himself. "Whatever the Gods wish me to study."

"Vanity 101." A voice called, all of them turning around as a tall blonde boy approached with his hands tucked into his jacket pockets. He nodded at the girls. "Hey, I'm Kendall." He said while resting a hand on James' shoulder. "But seriously bud, we gotta get you into a course before they start."

James nodded, yet pouted. "I'm not good at school stuff- I'm good at looking good. I won't be able to have you guys help with homework here!" He explained.

"Then why apply?" Lucy asked , all of them seeming a bit offended. James stepped forward.

"Because the Dogs-" he paused to motion to each of them. "Travel in a pack."

"And he didn't apply anywhere else." Kendall said with a knowing smile. "Alright Buddy. You wanna use your looks- but you're also a really good singer. May I suggest- musical theater?" He asked, turning James slightly as he motioned towards the sky. "Imagine it- Hamilton, staring James Diamond."

That seemed to work, leaving a goofy smile upon the brunettes face. He nodded at the thought. "Oh yeah, now that's going big time." He said.

"Going big time? Where have I heard that before?" Camille asked as Lucy cocked an eyebrow at her. Her eyes lit up in thought. "You guys are Big Time Rush- you're Minnesota's most well known up and coming hockey players!" She said.

They all smiled and nodded. "That's us." Kendall said, his eyes landing on Lucy. "So, who are you guys?" He asked.

"I'm Lucy Stone- music major." She said, tapping the side of her guitar slightly.

"Camille Roberts-acting." She said.

The boys smiled as Kendall spoke again. "Well, let us be the first to say- hello." He sang in a nearly perfect tune, the other following behind.

"Hello"

"Hello"

"Hello"

They stopped, dapping each other up with wide smiles. Lucy and Camille were impressed, nodding at them. "And they sing." Lucy concluded with a small laugh. "Well, it was great to meet you guys, but we gotta get to our room." She said.

"Oh, it's right here." Camille told her, watching as Lucy's head whipped aside to the door across from the Rushers.

"Well I'll be damned." She commented.

"Looks like we're neighbors-" Kendall said as he looked at their door. "Oh yeah, me and Logan stay in that room." He turned and pointed at the door right next to James and Carlos. "So, feel free to drop by anytime- that's not morning. We're not morning people."

The others shook their heads, with Carlos jumping. "Oh! We're having a movie night when we finish unpacking later- you guys wanna join?" He asked.

The two girls looked to one another, then back to them. "We'll think about it." Lucy said before opening the door to the dorm. Camille smiled at the boys as she turned around and followed her, closing the door behind herself.

The room was modest, a nice size with a fair amount of space for both of them. "Huh...hot plate and a mini fridge, I should be set." Lucy said as she stepped towards the window.

"You have a bed preference?" Camille asked, watching as her roommate turned and shook her head.

"I can't believe I'm actually here. Feels so...surreal." She said, causing Camille to look on in confusion.

"Why's that? Bad school record?" She asked as she began to unpack her blanket set.

"No, just bad...record with life? I suppose that's the term." Lucy said as she moved away from the window to start her unpacking. "But Nevermind that- shouldn't have brought it up. I'm in a new state, which means a new life."

Camille sat up onto the edge of her bed and looked over Lucy. "Ex?" She asked. Lucy was surprised, but nodded.

"Ex."

Camille chuckled. "Well girl, no need to worry about that here. New state, new life right?" She asked. Lucy smiled at her as she carried on.

Three Hours Later

The girls had finished setting up their room- with each side looking very similar to their own styles. Camille's side held a light blue rug and various posters from different classical films and tv shows, her bedspread being a light blue one.

Lucy's held posters of various bands of vespers genres- no rug but a black and red bed set. Her guitar rested against the bedside table nearby. She'd been reading the latest issue of Punk Magazine when Camille asked her. "Wanna go see what the guys are up to?"

She looked up, then at the door. Her eyes moved back to the magazine. "Maybe later." She said. She took a second to check the time. 7:25 PM.

Camille shrugged "I'll see you later then!" She said cheerfully as she bound out of the door. If Lucy had to guess, she probably wanted to get closer to that Logan guy.

It had been over thirty minutes since Camille left, and Lucy was honestly feeling a bit odd. She sat up slightly and set her magazine down, deciding to go for a walk to clear her mind. Maybe try to reach the roof and get a good look at the city. She decided on that, grabbing her leather jacket as she left for the roof of their building.

The crisp Minnesota air hit her as soon as she pressed open the door, but it didn't bother her very much. Her eyes scanned the roof, landing on a family figure. It was Kendall, who was sitting in a lawn chair and playing with an acoustic guitar.

She smiled softly at the tune, approaching slowly. She didn't want to bother him, yet at the same time, didn't want to leave. She finally reached him, looooing at the determination on his face.

"That sounds nice." She said, watching as he turned around and gave her a smile.

"Thanks, it's something I've been working on for a bit. He explained. She nodded.

"Guitar Playing/Singing Hockey player. Definitely a new troupe." She commented. He shrugged as he stood up, setting the instrument down and gesturing towards the chair.

She shook her head. "That'd be rude of me-"

"It'd be rude of me not to atleast offer a seat." He said as he dug a hand into his pocket.

She smiled at the sentiment, taking up a space on the chair but leaving enough for him to sit down aswell. He took up that unoccupied area and grabbed his guitar again.

"I saw you brought one too- how long have you played?" He asked

She took a moment to think it over, gently biting her lip as she did so. "I wanna say, eight years?" He nodded.

"Cool, I've only been doing it for six. Definitely got me beat." He said as he began to play a new tune.

She listened intently, though couldn't help but form a similar pattern in her head. "May I?" She asked when he finally stopped playing. He smiled and slid the instrument over to her, watching as she prepared herself.

She played out a different tune than the one he initiated- with a faster chord progression and a big of finger picking.

He nodded, very impressed at her skill. "Okay, you've got cool hair and you're good at guitar? I need atleast one more thing to make a new troupe out of you." He said.

She paused and laughed, taking another moment to think. "Hmm...I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do." She said.

"Okay- badass first of all. Martial artist, guitarist, cool hair- THATS tour troupe." He said with a laugh. They laughed about that for a moment before he finally asked. "So, what brings you to the roof?"

"Eh, just needed to take some time to think." She looked at him. "What about you?"

"Same, plus this is a great space for a late night guitar session. The air clears your mind." He said. She could agree with that, but wouldn't find herself staying too long. His eyes were captivating enough, why did he have to have a good personality too?

"I'm gonna head in soon- join the guys at movie night." He said as he checked the time on his phone.

"Mind if I tag along?" She asked. He nodded.

"Definitely don't mind."

"Great." They stayed outside for about ten tru minutes more, chatting away about their lives and experiences before coming to college. As they headed into the building again, Lucy had it set. Maybe this school wouldn't be so bad.
