Elizabeth did not want to sit out the rest of the dances.

Before their dance ended, Mr Darcy asked,
"May I also have the next dance?"
Elizabeth was surprised but agreed.

"May I have the next dance as well, Miss Elizabeth?"
"Sir, we cannot be seen dancing a third time! People will think we have an understanding."
"You owe me a dance from the Lucas' party and another from your stay here at Netherfield."
