Everyone's attention in the Colossus, at the cockpit to be more precise, was instantly distracted when they heard the sound of the hatch being hit from the other side, which was soon blown up into the air. From there, someone jumped in with a slight push from the burst of flames. She instantly throw a kick in the air, which unleashed a powerful blast of wind towards the two guards not far from her, knocking both of them unconscious. Kuvira, the one who held the ultimate control of this gigantic mech and the mastermind of the Republic City attack, watched as the woman jumped over her head and landed right in front of her.
The woman was none other than Korra, the current Avatar.
Korra instantly made a move, which released a burst of flames towards Kuvira. Kuvira was easily able to dodge the attack by moving sideways, not once, but twice. Of course, Kuvira didn't stand still, she bend the liquid metal that was nearby and threw it at Korra, but Korra was able to bend that thing just before it hit her and threw it back at her. It hit her clean, sending Kuvira flying into the control panel. It didn't stop Kuvira from doing so, she was able to get up quickly and ran towards Korra and throw a kick at her head, but Korra avoided it by ducking. Kuvira then manipulated the metal on the control panel, throwing them in a row. Korra easily dodged the first and second attacks, parrying the third with airbending as the radio speaker was being thrown at her. Korra counterattacked by throwing fireballs, to which Kuvira responded by jumping and landing right on the podium where Korra was standing. With his metalbending ability and the momentum of her jump, she sent the Avatar crashing into the ceiling, then bound him to the ceiling with metal around her. She dragged Korra around the ceiling, before slamming her down. Korra, who had just been slammed, didn't get up right away, so Kuvira took the opportunity to attack her, but Korra was swiftly able to get back on her feet and dodge the attack before it hit her. The two looked at each other, and Kuvira was seen preparing 3 medium-sized liquid metal balls that she would use to attack Korra again.
Korra unleashed a punch that created a burst of flames but countered with a throw of liquid metal and a whip that was the result of the liquid metal manipulation. Korra managed to dodge all of that. Kuvira cut the distance between herself and Korra. Korra threw a blast of wind at her, along with a kick accompanied by fire, but none of it hit her opponent. Kuvira threw metals at Korra again, and Korra responded with a burst of fire, which she blocked by bending those liquid metals.
Korra paused for a moment, fighting mindlessly wouldn't give her maximum results. As such, she performed a feint, moving as if she was about to make an attack, which caused Kuvira to react by creating a panel to protect herself from Korra's attack. However, Korra instead jumped and did a dropkick which simultaneously released a very strong wind blast, sending Kuvira crashing into the window. A sizable metal panel was moving at high speed towards Korra, which of course was the work of Kuvira who was still able to stand back up and counterattack. Korra was able to dodge it by ducking down and running towards Kuvira as fast as she could. She wrapped her legs around Kuvira's head and used the momentum of the fall to flip Kuvira, slamming her backwards. Korra immediately bend the metal that was right under Kuvira, sending the seemingly helpless woman flying into the air.
It was clear that Korra was preparing to launch a finishing blow, she had already jumped into the air with her right hand raised. Miraculously, Kuvira regained her awareness and swiftly bend the metal which was located quite far from her. The two of them simultaneously launched an attack, Korra released a wind blast, and Kuvira threw a metal plate, which coincidentally also hit each of them at the same time, sending both of them flying to different sides, Korra up and Kuvira down.
On the other hand, in the engine room, the unconscious Mako is pulled and carried by Bolin, he doesn't want to leave his brother. It can be seen that the core of the Colossus glows brighter, indicating that the core will soon explode, lightning strikes can also be seen there.
Back at Korra and Kuvira, they were both still in the fight, until finally an explosion which of course came from the core in the engine room occurred and stopped their fight. The location of the core in the middle made the giant mech's body split, the top part of it crashed into a building and fell to the ground. Korra and Kuvira held onto the iron bars, Korra herself could be heard screaming until they finally hit the ground.
After that, everything was silent. Bolin and Mako managed to save themselves, but both are unconscious now. Korra could be seen carrying Kuvira out of the cockpit, onto the now-destroyed and rock-strewn street. Korra slowly put Kuvira on the ground.
"It's over," Korra glared at Kuvira. "You're gonna call off your army and surrender to President Raiko."
In between Korra's words, Kuvira came to her sense and looked at Korra with a look full of hatred.
"Then, you and-- ugh!"
Kuvira threw a boulder at Korra, caught her off guard. Korra was thrown and rolled several meters away, her head feels dizzy from the sudden attack. When she opened her eyes, Kuvira could be seen walking down from her original position, for a moment she looked at Korra, before running towards the Spirit Wilds in the distance.
"Stop!"
With an angry expression, Korra immediately got up and stand on her feet, following the direction where Kuvira had gone.
Kuvira was seen circling the corner at the entrance to Spirit Wilds, she braced herself on the side of the building clutching the left side of her stomach, before falling to the ground with a groan. She got back up and continued her steps towards the forest, limping while still holding the left side of her stomach. She paused to catch his breath, holding himself with her hands to the tree. She looked up as Korra's voice cut through the trees.
"Kuvira! Surrender!"
"Never," said Kuvira, quietly, with a sharp gaze.
She stepped back, still limping. When she used his other hand to push away the curtain of vines, his eyes widened and his mouth dropped open, which he then closed again. Her current expression shows that she was full of determination.
On the other hand, Korra could be seen walking in the forest. The sunlight filters through the gap in canopy above her, illuminating Korra's path, revealing vine-covered street.
"Please, stop this madness! It has to end now!"
When Korra jumped up and stood on the large roots of a tree, Kuvira's voice was heard.
"If you really want to end it, then come and get me!"
Korra immediately got down and ran towards the source of the voice. She ran very, very fast until he finally got to where the voice was coming from. Her breath suddenly stopped as she looked up, the giant muzzle that was a spirit energy cannon aimed right at her position. The cannon did fall into Spirit Wilds the moment it was broken, but no one expected that it would hang between those vines.
"Now, it's over!"
"Don't!" Korra said as she spread out one hand.
Unfortunately, Kuvira didn't listen to him. She push the trigger and instantly a beam of energy shot out from the muzzle of the cannon. A startled Korra jumped from her position to the left, just moments before the energy touched her previous standing position and created an explosion that was more than enough to kill her.
Korra who was prone on the ground after jumping paying attention to the weapon, it slowly moved to the right. Before long, something surprising happened, the vines in the forest suddenly gave off a very bright purple light. The energy released also suddenly increases, creating a push that changes the direction of the muzzle that was previously downward to slightly upward. As a result, buildings that are quite tall and located not far from the location are hit by the beams. The cannon began to move uncontrollably, spinning like clockwork.
"Shut it down!" Korra yelled.
Kuvira tried to turn off the cannon by pulling the trigger, but to no avail.
"I cant-- ugh!"
Something made Kuvira's grip on the cannon loose, she fell on her stomach on the ground. When she woke herself, in a horror, she saw that the direction of the cannon was moving towards nobody but herself.
Just before the cannon turned her to ashes, Korra ran up and stood right in front of her, face to face with that deadly spirit energy. She stretched her arms forward and entered the Avatar State. The beam of energy abruptly gives way, and a spherical mass of energy forms around the two, while smaller energy beams spray in all directions. Kuvira sits motionless, caught between wonder and terror as the purplish-white light courses around them. As Korra continues to bend the beam, the orb of energy around them begins to expand, slowly at first, then exponentially. The two disappear when the orb glows bright white and flares into a massive size.
=£=
Floating, that was how Korra was feeling right now. Her body felt so cold as if the warmth had already left her. The void enveloped her; there was nothing he could reach or see. However, in this absence, a light appeared, a light that was so bright, so majestic, and so familiar.
That light is none other than The Spirit Of Light itself, Raava.
Korra tried to call out to her, but no sound came out of his mouth. She tries to reach Raava with both of her hands, but her hands don't reach. Raava suddenly turned into light dust, then disappeared, leaving Korra alone in this endless void.
=£=
"Raava!"
In a panic, Korra shouted. Her breath hitched, her eyes were wide open. Something she had just seen and experienced really made him horrified. Even so, he was able to control herself to calm down again.
Korra sat up, then held her head.
"What dream was that? It felt so real," she said quietly.
No one was able to answer the question. The explanation of the dream was still a mystery to her. Therefore, Korra shook her head, trying not to think about the dream anymore.
"Come on, Korra, focus!"
At that moment, Korra remembered someone more important than her nightmare, someone who was supposedly not far from her.
"Kuvira..."
Korra suddenly stood up, she looked left and right, looking around her, hoping to find the woman who had ravaged Republic City.
"Kuvira! Kuvira!"
There was no answer, nor did she find anyone. Korra even just realized that it was already dark, and she was near a bonfire whose maker was unknown. He was among the trees, which was different from the last place. His feet did not step on the concrete road, the trees were also different, not with hanging roots. There was not the slightest trace of a battle in this place, everything seemed normal.
Now Korra was confused, the expression on her face showed it very, very clearly.
"Am I in the spirit world?"
For a few moments, she was silent. Korra felt that it made sense that if she were in the spirit world, the spirit energy that Kuvira released earlier could create a new spirit portal, and Korra, who was right in the middle of it when the gate was created would immediately be sent to the spirit world. However, a new question arises.
"But where is the portal? Where is Kuvira? She should be near me."
Once again, Korra was faced with a question whose explanation was still unclear.
Step, step, step
Korra's focus instantly shifted as soon as the sound of footsteps could be heard through the trees. The voice came from the left, which was slowly getting closer and closer to where she stood.
Korra raised her right hand and created a tiny flame. The fire in the fireplace wasn't big enough to illuminate the area.
"Kuvira? Is that you?"
"No," a voice that was quite deep replied to Korra's words.
Korra could immediately tell that the person walking towards her was a male. Unfortunately, she couldn't tell if he was a spirit or a human. Whether he was an enemy or a friend was still gray. Obviously, Korra raised her guard, if only this person was a threat, because the owner of the voice was now really close.
Finally, after 4 steps, the owner of the voice stood before Korra. He's not a spirit, he's a human, just like her. The man looked rather old, thanks to his thick beard and mustache. He reminded Korra to Tenzin, but Tenzin looked older than this man and his beard was also longer.
"Human?" She muttered. It was extremely rare to meet fellow humans in the spirit world, even after the portals in the north and south were opened.
Korra and the man stared at each other for a while without saying a word, the man looked exhausted. He walked past Korra and stopped right in front of the fireplace, then took a deep breath. After that, he turned his head, back to Korra.
"So you're awake, miss?"
"Ye-yeah," Korra replied, slightly surprised because she had been lost in her thought. "So, did you bring me here, sir?"
"That's right, I carried you here. I saw you lying unconscious in the middle of the forest, there's no way I just leaving you like that."
"If that so, I thank you then," Korra smiled at him, which was returned with a warm smile from the man, completely different from his previous expression.
The man sat himself down. He then tapped his hands on the ground beside him.
"Sit down, don't just stand."
"Oh, right."
Korra slowly stepped towards the bonfire, then sat down beside the man.
"By the way, what's your name?"
"I'm Korra."
"Korra, huh, I've never heard of a name like that," he said, stroking his beard. "Well, I'm Gyford, nice to meet you."
Gyford held out his hand to Korra, to which she responded with a handshake.
"Nice to meet you too."
The two exchanged a smile and finished the handshake afterward. They were both now staring at the fireplace, lost in their own thoughts. Both Korra and Gyford had questions that could only be answered if they ask each other. The question is, who will ask first?
"Ummm," a voice came out of Korra's mouth. "Can I ask something?"
"Go on," Gyford glanced at Korra. "If I can answer, I will."
"Did you find someone other than me in the place where you find me?"
Gyford shook his head.
"No, it's just you. Who are you talking about? Raava or Kuvira?"
Korra raised her eyebrows, the scream must have been loud enough for Gyford to know about Raava.
"Oh, I'm probably shouting too loud, hehe," Korra chuckled, embarrassed.
"Yeah, really loud."
Gyford closed his eyes for a moment and took another deep breath. In fact, Korra's screams had an enormous impact on Gyford, not because it made him panic, but because the deer he was hunting had fled, thanks to Korra shouting Raava's name. He tried to chase after it, but the deer was faster and ended up hiding among the trees. However, Gyford had no intention of telling Korra directly.
"Well, what I'm looking for is Kuvira. You should have heard of that name before."
"Hmmm," Gyford clutched his beard, trying to find Kuvira's name in his mind, and he couldn't.
"No, I've never heard of anyone with that name."
"Really? How long you have been in the spirit world? You don't even know who Kuvira is."
For a moment, Gyford looked confused. He then turned to Korra, with one eyebrow raised.
"Hmmm? What did you say just now? The spirit world?"
Korra nodded.
"Miss, I don't know what you're talking about."
"What do you mean?" Korra raised her eyebrows, surprised by Gyford's response.
"You see, we are currently in a forest not far from the Re-Estize Capital, not the place you call Spirit World. If you ask me, I've never heard a place with that name."
Korra looked in disbelief at Gyford's explanation, her mind unable to accept the information. All she knew was that she was somewhere in the spirit world, and that was how it was supposed to be.
"Wait, wait," Korra stretched her arms out in front of her. "Aren't we in the spirit world right now?"
"No. Like I said earlier, I don't even know a place like that."
"Okay, if what you say is true, where is the Re-Estize Capital? There are only 4 countries in the world and none of them are named Re-Estize."
"Well, in fact, there are more than 20 countries in this world."
Both Korra and Gyford were now confused with each other, their knowledge was very different. But, there is nothing wrong with the two statements, they are both correct.
"Okay, I'm really confused now," Korra said, clutching her head that was starting to feel dizzy.
"And so do I," Gyford replied.
The two of them fell back into silence, their brains still processing the information each of them received.
There are only 4 countries? Where exactly does this young lady live? That's what Gyford thought.
Korra wasn't much different, her brain was constantly repeating Gyford's words about the Capital of one country called Re-Estize and the number of countries that exceeded 4. There wasn't a fifth country, let alone a sixth, that was a fact that she and everyone in her world knew.
They continued like that for 30 seconds, until finally, Gyford decided to break the silence.
"Okay, miss, I don't know where you come from. But, if you really only know 4 countries, can you name it one by one?"
"Water Tribe, Air Nation, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation."
Surprised? Of course, because there has never been a country with that name. But Gyford showed no surprise this time.
I've never heard of such a country's name, that's what he thought.
"Oh, I see. If you really know like that, I think it's better for you to sleep now instead of worrying about what you just heard from me. Tomorrow morning, I will take you to my house and see for yourself the world map and the names of the countries, okay?"
Korra glanced down, pondering the invitation for a few moments. She inhaled and exhaled deeply to calm herself, before finally nodding her head.
"Okay, I'll take your advice. In fact, I don't know where this would be if it wasn't in the spirit world."
A warm smile crossed Gyford's face.
"Good, go to sleep then."
"It seems a bit impossible to sleep now, I just woke up a few minutes ago."
"In that case, just sit until you're sleepy then."
After saying that, Gyford decided to stand up. He reached for the small bag he was carrying, which Korra just realized the existence of it. From there, he took a glass made of wood, then positioned his other hand on the glass.
"{Create Water}."
A magic circle was created on his index finger, which then released a stream of water that slowly filled the glass he was holding to the brim. Korra herself could be seen gaping in disbelief at what she had just seen.
"Waterbending? But, how?"
"Huh? No, it's magic," he said, as he handed the glass to Korra. "Here, have a drink."
Korra took the glass, though a little hesitant. She watched the water in it for a while.
"Thank you."
"No problem."
Before Korra could drink the water, Gyford had spoken again. "By the way, didn't you also use magic to create fire? How come you don't know that?"
"Well, that was firebending."
"Is that how you call magic?"
"No, bending is the ability to control certain elements."
"Then it's magic."
"No! It's not! It's different!"
"Okay, okay," Gyford raised his hand, he chose to give in because he didn't want to argue with Korra. "So, can you explain further about this thing called bending?"
"If you really don't know, bending is like what I explained earlier. Each person can only control one element, but some are able to use the special abilities of their element. And, there is one person who can control all the elements called The Avatar."
"Interesting, it must be really amazing to have such talent."
"Well, I'm actually the Avatar."
Korra didn't really like calling herself an Avatar since she had been out of service for a few years, however, right now was an exception.
"Oh really?" From his body language, it could be seen that Gyford was slightly interested when he heard that statement.
"If everything you say is true, can you show a little bit of how this power works? Let's say, waterbending, you mentioned that earlier didn't you? Show it! I wanted to see it in action."
Korra looked doubtful when asked to do so, but she did it anyway.
"Well, if you insist."
Korra brought her other hand closer to the glass, then slowly pulled her hand back. The water in the glass came out of the glass, following where Korra's hand moved. How did Gyford react? He was shocked in disbelief.
"See?"
"Wow, you really have that kind of ability," said Gyford with raised eyebrows.
Korra moved her hand again and put the water she had previously controlled into the glass. After that, she drank it, because she was actually thirsty.
"Hmmm, it's taste good, little bit sweet I guess."
"That's how it should be."
Apart from {Create Water} which was a tier 1 spell, there was a spell on the lower tier that also created drinking water, but it tasted bland, not sweet.
"Anyway, the ability you showed earlier was quite extraordinary, I've never seen anything like it," said Gyford with a big smile on his face.
"Well, it's also my first time seeing water made by magic," Korra replied with a faint smile.
Gyford chuckled "hehehe, we're both really hear and see new things then."
"Yeah."
Gyford sighed again, he looked up at the night sky filled with such beautiful starlight for a while, before looking back at Korra.
"Looks like it's quite late, I'm going to sleep."
"Okay, go to sleep then. I actually want to sleep too, but I'm still not sleepy. Maybe I'll do like you said earlier, I'll sit until I'm sleepy."
"Don't take it seriously, I was joking."
"I know, but, it doesn't change anything, I still can't sleep."
"Of course you can, {Sleep}."
A purple light instantly enveloped Korra's body. The spells used by Gyford himself were tier 1 spells, like the previous one.
After the spell was activated, Korra immediately felt tremendous drowsiness.
"W-what happened?"
"I cast magic that forces your body to sleep. You should be sleeping after a while, so lie down."
"O-okay."
Korra lay down on the grass below. Her eyes were really heavy. However, before she drifted off to sleep, he saw a night sky filled with stars.
"Beautiful."
After that, everything goes dark.
