Hey, guys! I'm back with the next installment of the My MCUverse. Hope everyone enjoys this as much as I had fun writing it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Guardians of the Galaxy or any character you recognize. I only own Katrina and whatever plot changes I make.
We all stood at the Sovereign Power Station where they kept their Anulax batteries. We were hired by the Sovereign to protect the batteries from a creature that would be trying to take them. I found it as more of an annoyance than a mission.
"Showtime, a-holes! It'll be here any minute!" Peter said looking at his tracker.
"Which will be its last." Gamora said as she readied her rifle. I had to say, it was interesting seeing her use a gun since she usually uses a sword to battle with. I readied my blasters along with the others.
"I thought your thing was a sword?" Peter asked Gamora curiously.
"We've been hired to stop an interdimensional beast from feeding on those batteries' energy, and I'm going to stop it with a sword?" She asked like it was the most simple thing in the world.
"It's just..." Peter mumbled to himself, looking away. "Swords were your thing and guns were mine, but...I guess we're both doing guns now. I just didn't know that." I laughed and patted him on his shoulder.
"Don't worry, Pete. Nothing wrong with sharing." I said while grinning. Peter just rolled his eyes at me as I grinned. I looked at Drax and noticed he wasn't wearing an Aero-Rig. "Drax, why aren't you wearing one of Rocket's Aero-Rigs?"
"It hurts." Drax simply answered.
"Hurts?" Gamora asked confused at his answer.
"I have sensitive nipples..." Drax said almost mumbling and Rocket began hysterically laughing at what Drax said while saying, "My nipples hurt! Oh, goodness me!" Drax then pointed to him angrily, "What about him?! What's he doing?!"
Rocket replied by saying, "I'm finishing this so we can listen to tunes while we work."
"How is that important?" Drax asked. I had to agree, there were definitely more important things to attend to.
"Blame Quill! He's the one who loves music so much!" Rocket said, pointing at Peter like it was his fault.
"No, I actually agree with Drax on this, that's hardly important right now." Peter shot back. Despite the fact Peter loved music, he knew when it was important and when it wasn't.
"Oh, sure, okayyyy, Quill." Rocket said while he winked at him, not believing Peter for one minute.
"No, seriously, I side with Drax." Peter said with a serious look.
"I understand that, you're being very serious right now." Rocket responded, winking once more. Oh boy...
"I can clearly see you winking!" Drax exclaimed. I nodded.
"We all can see you winking." I added on.
"Damn. I'm using my left eye?" Rocket asked, not impressed with himself. Can this get any worse? We then heard a growl and we looked down and saw Groot chasing some Orloni. He then looked up at Rocket and said, "I am Groot."
Rocket responded with, "They were not looking at you funny." We then heard a large crack and looked up to see a giant creature fall from the sky and land in front of us. "Oh, well, that's intense." Rocket said as he, Peter, Gamora and I used our jet-packs and began shooting at the creature from different angles.
Peter ended up getting hit by a tentacle and went rolling on the ground before standing. He then got hit with another tentacle and sent flying as Gamora, Rocket and I tried to shoot the creature. When I wasn't looking, a tentacle hit me and I lost control and ended up landing on the ground and saw Groot dancing, a tentacle about to slam on us. I quickly grabbed my blaster and shot the tentacle off as it landed beside me, away from Groot. "Groot, watch where you're going!" I yelled. Groot waved happily at me and I couldn't help but smile and wave back as I got into the fray.
Gamora and I landed back to the ground, near Drax as he stood up after being thrown by the creature, and tried shooting at the creature. "The beast's hide is too thick to be pierced from the outside. I must cut through it from the inside." Drax suddenly said and Gamora and I looked at him confused.
"What?" Gamora asked, confused. Drax yelled and began charging at the creature.
"No, Drax! Drax!" I yelled trying to stop him. But I was ignored as Drax jumped into the creatures mouth.
"What's he doing?" Peter asked as he landed beside us.
"He said the skin is too thick to be pierced from the outside, so..." Gamora explained, trailing off at the end.
"That doesn't make sense!" Peter exclaimed.
"l tried telling him that!" I replied frustrated about the whole situation.
"Skin has the same level of thickness on the inside as it is on the outside!" Peter explained.
"We realize that!" Gamora said this time, and I nodded.
Peter reloaded his pistol, silent for a moment before he said, "There's a cut on its neck! Rocket, Kat, get it to look up!" I nodded as Peter and I took off and flew above the creature, making it look up towards us as we began shooting at it. Gamora sliced down the creatures neck as it collapses and dies. Peter, Rocket and I landing on the ground as Drax falls out of the creatures stomach. He stood up and raised his arms in victory.
"Yes! I have single-handedly vanquished the beast!" Drax yelled as I just looked at him like he was crazy. Groot pretty much answered for all of us as he threw a rock at Drax. Drax's smile fades as he looks at Groot and asked, "What?"
We walked by the Anulax batteries as we de-rig ourselves. "What are they called again?" Drax asked out of curiosity.
"Anulax batteries." I answered.
"Harbulary batteries." Drax said instead and I looked at him in shock and disbelief.
"That's nothing like what she just said." Peter exclaimed, giving him the same look I did. "But they're worth thousands of units a piece. Which is why the Sovereign hired us to protect them." He explained, as he walked next to me and wrapped his arm around me. We then left and headed back into what I assumed was their palace or headquarters, maybe? "Careful what you say around these folks. They're easily offended. The cost of transgression is death." Peter explained as he instead grabbed my hand.
We soon arrived at the lair and walked inside. The room was full of Sovereign people but I had to admit, the High Priestess was really beautiful but of course, she also looked stuck up. "We thank you, Guardians, for putting your lives on the line. We could not risk the lives of our own Sovereign citizens. Every citizen is born exactly as designed by the community. Impeccable, both physically and mentally. We control the DNA of our progeny... germinating them in birthing pods." She explained looking at us. Okay, either she was saying they were better than us or she was just showing off. Either way, it really annoyed me.
"I guess I prefer to make people the old-fashioned way." Peter replied back while we both looked at each other. I couldn't help the blush that stained my face at that.
"Perhaps someday, you could give me a history lesson...in the archaic ways of our ancestors. For academic purposes." The High Priestess said and I glared.
Peter was about to answer before I quickly said, "As much as he would be honored too, it would be hard to find the time to travel back here. So he respectfully declines." I said, giving Peter a look to shut up, considering he was about to say something.
"Oh please." Gamora said, clearly annoyed as I was. She stepped up and said to the High Priestess, "Your people promised something in exchange for our services. Bring it and we shall gladly be on our way." The High Priestess nodded and motioned for two soldiers to emerge with a woman in a hood and cloak, her wrists were bound in shackles. They shoved her to her knees and yanked the hood back revealing Nebula, Gamora's little sister.
They glared at one another and Peter said quietly, "Family reunion. Yaaaay.." I quickly elbowed him in the gut and I heard him groan and hold his stomach. "Why, Katty?" He grumbled.
"Not the time Peter." I replied back quietly while sighing.
"I understand she is your sister?" The High Priestess asked.
Gamora roughly picked up her sister and said, "She's worth no more to me than the bounty due for her on Xandar." She began leading Nebula away.
"Our soldiers apprehended her attempting to steal the batteries. Do with her as you please." High Priestess said with clear disgust.
"We thank you, High Priestess Ayesha." Peter said as we started to leave.
"What is your heritage, Mr. Quill?" Ayesha asked, looking at Peter. Peter turned around to look at her and I could see how uncomfortable he was.
"My mother is from Earth." Peter answered.
"And your father?" She asked.
"He ain't from Missouri, that's all I know." Peter said and I watched as she showed a foul look on her face. I just knew she was about to piss me off.
"I see it within you, an unorthodox genealogy. A hybrid that seems particularly..." she paused for a moment before saying, "reckless." I saw the look Peter showed, despite him trying to hide how it affected him. I quickly grabbed his hand in reassurance and I glared at her, hoping looks could kill a person.
"You know, they told me you people were conceited douchebags. But that isn't true at all." Rocket said with such sarcasm, he became my hero right then and there. He then winked at Peter and that just made everything go downhill. "Oh, shit, I'm using my wrong eye again, aren't I? I'm sorry." Drax then pulled Rocket off as Rocket said to Ayesha, "That was meant to be behind your back."
Peter, Gamora, and I left as well, my hand never leaving Peter's. I had to comfort him anyway I could. We got on the Benatar and took off, heading for Xandar.
