A/N: Now for something out of left field.
I have a lot of ideas swimming in my noggin (too much for my own good). And now, I'm sporadically getting requests to do stories. Making too many in such a short period is why I can't create any of those requests for a long time. This is on top of the ideas I get for stories when playing something else, writing for an existing tale, or reading another story on FF. Many of those ideas waste and die, but I want to change that somehow.
So I came up with this: Moments of Inspiration!
This will have a series of one-shots containing various stories I had plans for, but I never got to do for some reason or another. I'll place them in the Smash section of FF since we'll be traversing through a plethora of verses. There will be no schedule of any kind. I'll update when I'm in the mood to. I'll also let you know what verse we'll be diving into and the context of the scene. With that being said, let's get the first one underway.
Super Smash Brothers Scene: Tara (Tula if you've read Ultimate Adventure) explains to Tifa (Yes, that Tifa Lockhart. She would've been Koga's girlfriend in this story. Don't ask how or why) how her and Koga (Skully) got to Castle Town's South End and opened up the Tribal Detective Agency (T.D.A.)
"You're situated, Tifa? Want me to get you somethin' to drink?" I ask her.
I mean, I get some nice pull, but Tifa is knock out, that's for sure.
She nods. "Sure, you have any liquor? I could go for a drink."
"Yeah, we should," I say as I check our cabinets for some drinks and some cups before opening the freezer. "How many cubes of ice do you want in your cup?"
"Just two."
She's becoming more and more likable. Onee-chan definitely got himself a winner and Tifa's multiple times better than Z (Zelda). Anyway, I pour us some whiskey and place her cup in front of her as I sat across. We toast, clink, and take a sip of our drinks before placing them on the table.
"So, Tifa... You and Onee-chan, huh?"
She jolted slightly at the bluntness of my question, worry apparent in her voice. "Oh, yes. Is that a problem, Tara?"
I shake my head instantly. "Not at all, I welcome it. His last girlfriend, let's just say, left a bad taste in our mouths."
"Oh, ok. Koga is very nice, kind, and down to earth. He even convinced that giant white glove to give me an invitation to be here with him. Quite the silver tongue he has."
"We get it from our Mom, so the Chief of our people says," I respond impulsively.
Jeez, I guess I trust her already.
"Koga told me about him. He raised you both after your mother passed away shortly after giving birth to you two?" She asked.
Considering that we're venturing into dark territory, I grab my glass and chug the rest of the whiskey before placing it back down.
Tifa's eyes widen at my action. "Uh, Tara... I don't think that's a good idea to chug whiskey like that."
"Don't worry about me, Tifa. I most likely can out drink you even if I starved myself for a day." I reassure though I probably could've worded that better.
Subtlety was never my thing. Can you tell?
"But yes, Chief raised us both as well as one more who is our adopted little brother."
"Koga never told me about him," she bluntly stated.
"Huey likes to keep to himself. Plus, he isn't old enough to leave Kakariko Village yet. He has another couple of months before becoming of age to leave if he wants." I answer before taking a deep breath, getting up to pour myself some more whiskey.
As I sit down, looking to learn more about Onee-chan's new beau, we hear the front door of our office and home open. It was Koga, his face slightly bloodied. However, he didn't have any cuts or bruises, so it was safe to say that it wasn't his. He had an annoyed expression combined with a tinge of anger, his eyes squinted just a tad. If it wasn't for the rest of the emotion, he would've been deep in thought or looked like it. Regardless we both stand up, looks of concern plastered on our faces.
"Onee-chan? What the hell happened?" I ask him.
Koga shuts the door behind him before taking a couple of steps towards his room, his words blunt and to the point. "I was jumped by some Tribal Hunters." He began. "Don't worry, they're either dead or in a coma. I'm sure of it."
"Are you gonna give me details now, or am I going to have to bug you tomorrow morning?" I ask.
He looks back at me, or rather his girlfriend, which makes me turn to look at her. She looks horrified, if not shocked. "I'm going to bed," he said before opening the door to his room and softly closed it.
I sit back down, rubbing my temples. "Goddesses, Tribal Hunters at a time like this? What the hell is going on?" I say to no one specifically.
Sitting back down, Tifa mirrors what I did a couple of minutes ago. Sheesh, she took that like a champ. Tifa's a tough one, definitely more than just a pretty face. I'm not really surprised since Koga doesn't like women who can't defend themselves. He's been stuck with me since we were born, so I definitely influenced that.
I glance at her, that worried look still on her face before she got up. "I know what you're thinking, Tifa," I stop her before she follows him. "Save comforting him until after I go to sleep."
Tifa slouches in her chair. "I have so many questions, Tara. I just want to help him, is that so bad?"
Once again, I shake my head. "No, it isn't. And boy, do we need help at a time like this. But being a great girlfriend can wait. You got questions, and since Onee-chan is probably already asleep, it falls on me to answer them. Might as well make yourself comfortable."
I stand up to take off my coat and place it on the hangar, revealing my incredibly toned arms, which leads to inferring that I have a well-built body. "Tael, go get some rest."
My fairy flies out of my pocket. "Ok, Tea. I'll see you in the morning." He then flies upstairs.
I take my gloves off and place them in my coat pockets before sitting back down. "Let me answer arguably the most obvious question. Why did we end up in the slums of the most lively city in our realm?"
Tifa nods, meaning I was on the mark.
"Two years ago, when Onee-chan and I turned 18, we left Kakariko under the rule of an honorable exile, meaning we can travel the outside world at our leisure. Still, we couldn't return to the Tribal Grounds unless invited by any of our brethren, or it was an emergency. But we left on good terms with our people, and whenever we did come back, they warmly welcomed us." I explain as Tifa listened intently and silently.
"Months before our 18th birthday, Koga was heading down an extremely dark path. He was one of our strongest despite being so young. Most of our elders didn't want to see him go as a result. They somehow convinced him that leaving Kakriko was a terrible decision and that he would waste his life by coming here to start a PI business." I continued.
"Those four months were hell. A dark path is an extreme under exaggeration of what happened. I never knew one person could kill so many people in that amount of time. It got to the point where I had to convince Koga to leave Kakariko when we turned 18, using myself as a bargaining chip by saying I'd leave with him if he did. I also told him that I would let him teach me everything needed to become a detective. By Farore's Wind, it worked. In hindsight, he was still probably going to get honorably exiled if I didn't get involved, but to be put in a place like that and leave afterward? You might as well let a rabid beast out into the wild."
"What happened to those elders?" Tifa asked.
"They were killed for obstruction and manipulation of a fellow tribesman. Their heads are currently rotting on a pike above their tombstones. Getting back on track, we were both honorably exiled, and Zelda granted us permission to move into the South End of Castle Town and gave us the building. We didn't own it yet, so she became our landlady. The Princess of Hyrule, our landlady. Sounds somethin' straight out of a book. All the while, Koga taught me everything about being a PI, and we learned how much Rupees we needed to pay the rent on the place. But there was a huge problem... The people."
I sighed. "A majority of the townspeople weren't too happy about two Tribals moving in even if it was the shit end of the slums. Not even Telma and her regulars liked us. Every Civil (Civilian) seen on your way down here, or during your shift at Telma's Bar, hated us both because we came from Tribal Lands."
"I would've never imagined. He doesn't act like that now," Tifa remarks.
"Duh. It took a while, but he let that shit go," I say as I take another drink of my whiskey. "Now, onto the next question which I hope won't take too long-"
"What's a Tribal Hunter?" she interrupted. Ok, Tara. You're one for two, but at least you got one.
"A Tribal Hunter to a Native like myself is what a Homeless Hunter is to a Hobo. The hate for us both was so deep for some that they formed a hate group that would attack us when we were out late at night. They were terrible at their jobs since we've trained in combat, among other things from the moment we both could walk. When you're targeting two Tribals, who are both PIs and did so with no stealth or attempt at hiding who you are, it was only a matter of time until we found where they laid their heads at. So, one day in the middle of noon, Koga and I walked through the front door and killed every Tribal Hunter in the building." I explain.
"You and your brother sure are open about the lives you've ended. I've killed monsters, but rarely have I killed another person." Tifa admitted.
"Whether killing those Tribal Hunters was the right call or not is debatable, but it was that action that earned us our first few clients and sent a message to the rest of the people. We don't care about your feelings towards us, and if you approach us, we'll call you out and might hurt you on top of it. Now the Castle Town respects us, and our profession from the South end to the Middle Class in the East & West ends. All the way to the prissy Top Class in the North End. While they did thank and respect us for our work, they still don't like traversing down here. The place is still a ghetto, after all." I answer.
"And now the question I thought you were going to ask until you cut me off," I take a deep breath. "Why do we look nothing alike despite being twins?" I assume, earning me another nod.
"We were identical twins: brown hair, almond eyes, slightly darker complexion than yours. But when the genes of our people overwrote our given genes, it also included an appearance change. Koga's hair became pitch black, his eyes red while his skin darkened. Whereas my hair became a bright red and grew exponentially. My eyes became gold, and my skin darkened more than Onee-chan's. Despite this, we are indeed twins, fraternal as opposed to being identical. And finally, the last question. Who's older? Koga is, by five minutes. He would joke and say that it was the best five minutes of his life, but I think that joke is shit."
I stand up, worn out from all this explaining. Tifa stands up with me. "I know you're going to comfort him anyway, but don't worry about Onee-chan. And don't think any less of him because of what I just told you."
She shook her head. "I won't. It just makes me want to care for him more."
I nod. Bless whatever deity from her world and Nayru for bringing her and Koga together.
"I like you, Tifa, and I feel we're going to get along well. Onee-chan is already diggin' you. Otherwise, he would've never told you anything about our people. And as for loyalty, he won't leave you unless he has a solid reason to."
"Well then, I guess won't give him a reason," Tifa smiles.
I laugh a little. I really like her.
"That's the spirit. Alright, I won't keep ya any longer. You go be a great girlfriend to my Onee-chan. I'll see you in the morning." I say as I chug the rest of my whiskey before burping.
"Shouldn't we wash those?"
"Don't worry about it. I'll wash 'em tomorrow. Sleep tight." I say my goodbyes to Tifa as I head upstairs.
"Tara?" She called for me. I pop my head out so she can see me. "Thanks for this, and for the vote of confidence." She thanked.
I brush it off. "It's nothin'. And uh, call me Tea."
A/N: And that's the first installment of Moment of Inspiration. As I stated at the top, there won't be a set time when I'll update. If I find a scene I liked for a story I never got to publish, I'll probably post it here. Anyway, I'll see you all later.
